Kiyen's Kamikaito

Some of the best sushi you will ever eat! I can’t say enough good things about Kiyen’s Kamikaito in North Little Rock! I stopped in recently for dinner and was absolutely blown away. First off, no wait—seriously, not having to wait for a table on a busy night was such a relief. The vibe inside is perfect, too. It’s stylish but still cozy, making it a great place whether you’re out with friends or having a relaxed dinner for two.

Now, the sushi—wow! Everything was so fresh and flavorful, I could tell they put a lot of care into sourcing quality ingredients. I tried a few different rolls, and each one was delicious in its own way. The Kamikaito Roll was hands down my favorite, with this amazing mix of fresh fish and just the right amount of sauce to bring it all together. If you like a bit of heat, the Spicy Crunch Roll is spot-on—just enough spice to wake up your taste buds without being overpowering.

What really impressed me, though, was how every detail was just right. The rice was perfectly seasoned, and even the miso soup tasted like it was made with care. And let me tell you, the tempura was crispy without feeling heavy—a perfect start to the meal.

The staff was super friendly and attentive, checking in to make sure everything was great without being intrusive. All in all, Kiyen’s Kamikaito has quickly become one of my favorite spots in town. If you’re in the area and craving sushi, do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won’t be disappointed!

Nestled in a walkable location, parking is easy, and this restaurant is a great place to stop in for Japanese food. The menu is extensive and can meet your needs. All the sushi rolls we ate tasted great. We will be back to try the desserts and boba teas.

Operates understaffed. The food has good flavor. While there, the table next to us had not been cleared from before we entered. The restroom wasn’t the cleanest, again due to being short staffed. The poor servers were practically running, but doing their best! Kudos to them! The rolls were rolled loosely!

I enjoyed this little gem so much that I returned the next night. The food was beautifully presented both evenings. Service was friendly and gave excellent recommendations. And the decor was what you would expect from a fusion restaurant.

I had a sushi roll and a salad both nights. The salads are phenomenal. The sushi was very well made and drizzled with excellent sauce.

This place is amazing! We thought they were open until 9:30, but they closed earlier with COVID hours on the door. They seated us at 8:40 anyway and were genuinely welcoming. The sushi was delicious and fresh. They brought it out on a beautiful boat platter with a bunch of garnishes. We were truly impressed by their quality and kindness. Thank you so much!!! ❤️

We went an hour before close on a Tuesday, so things were pretty slow. Because of that, we had an incredible time: the service was incredible, the staff was kind, and the food was solid. The sushi is great for how relatively inexpensive it is—we were very pleasantly surprised. Not sure what it would be like on a busier night, but if it’s anything like our experience, we recommend!

Kyien (sorry if I misspelled) is a culinary god among boys. His skill in sushi and hibachi, (And most any food, honestly )rival chefs with TV shows. Michelin star type of guy if I ever seen one. That aside, this restaurant is best sushi in Central Arkansas. Top two for sure.

This was the first time I visited Kiyen after it moved to this location. My first experience with the restaurant in 2016 set a high expectation of this place. So today's meal was below expectation.

Ordered the eel avocado roll, golden tuna roll, and one with mango in it (couldn't recall the name). The eel was not prepared very well and had a lot of fishbones in it, including some bones visible outside the roll. The tuna was flavorless and the fried batter overpowered everything else. The mango roll was the saving grace of the meal and had an interesting flavor.

The restaurant was also barren for a lunch service on a Saturday and they were playing what sounded like recording of someone practicing piano. It wasn't terrible but a bit strange to listen to.

Everything about the place was fantastic. The food was fresh, sushi rolls were delicious, the hibachi rice was delicious. They even serve authentic alcoholic drinks you'd expect to see in a Tokyo sushi house. Prices were great for the amount of food you get and highly recommend coming here.

Fantastic quality of sushi!!
Only restaurant in Arkansas with such a fresh variety. If you love sashimi then you will agree with me that this is the only place to enjoy my favorite, tuna sashimi. I have been a true fan for years of Chef Kiyens great sushi!

We came here because I wanted table side Korean BBQ, but when I ordered our server said they couldn't do that. She didn't say why. I wanted to try their house soup, but our server said the meal only included miso soup. I wish I'd pressed for her to charge extra for the other soup, but her English was limited.

My bulgogi had less flavor than I expected and was a little tough. My husband didn't love his sushi.

They charged us for chicken yaki udon even though we ordered it without meat and vegetables for our daughter (just noodles with sauce).

The toilet was dirty.

It wasn't terrible, but we're only in town for one night and wish we'd gone elsewhere.

Food was okay. You could yell tuna had been frozen, and most of the popular rolls and salads were pre-prepared and refrigerated. Flavor was just "ahangh".
Atmosphere is florescent lights, grand piano on weird autoplay, and nothing stylish about the decor - exactly what you would expect...,but somwehow a little more unsettling than usual. Nothing at all spectacular about this place.

My sister and I are dreaming of this sushi- such fresh sashimi ! Henry the chef made us very happy. The wait staff ( can’t remember our waiters name but he was fabulous, attentive and helpful)
The only reasons I gave the atmosphere 4 stars was because the player piano was glitchy and so the music was kind of annoying cause you weren’t hearing the full song but only some notes playing. I definitely will be returning the next time I am passing through town.

We’ve given this place a few different tries, but have been underwhelmed each time. Service is great, atmosphere is nice, but the food is bland and expensive. The Sushi and Nigiri is alright, but any other entree has been disappointing.

I had high hopes for this restaurant based on other reviews. Sadly, those hopes weren’t realized. We went on a Monday at 5, and we were the first ones there. Our hostess was pleasant and nice and so was our waiter. The atmosphere is very soothing and relaxing. The only issue we had with him was his lack of being able to answer questions about the food and condiments. After about 3 minutes of him not being able to tell me about the Drunken Chicken, or didn’t understand my friend was trying to order plum wine. She was told no, but they had it listed as an option. (When we asked him again later, his answer changed.). I opted to order the Gyoza, a side of fried rice and a tempura roll. My friend ordered a house salad and hibachi chicken. The gyoza came out as if it was steamed vs fried which would’ve been fine, but the first bite was less than tasty. It had a strange taste so I didn’t finish. The fried rice (that he said was prepared fresh when ordered) was lukewarm and had zero flavor. And sadly it wasn’t prepared when ordered as I received that first. I left more than 1/2 of that in the bowl. The salad was a bowl of chopped cabbage, 7 pieces of spinach leaves and 4 whole baby carrots.
Again the staff was sweet but we won’t be back as neither of us could think of anything redeemable about our meal.

I wasn’t going to write this because our server was so sweet and nice and attentive but… the food was not good at all and then here I am a couple of hours later with knots in my stomach and throwing up.
All of the food just tasted bland and no flavor. The fried calamari just looked old and shriveled up. Fried rice was just ehh. I didn’t even order any sushi with raw fish in it and my stomach hurt.
Again the service was great, the people looked so happy and we gave our waiter a decent tip. But something needs to change in that kitchen.

I've been here several times, but most recently for my birthday. I had a wonderful time. Service can be a little slow, but everything from drinks to sushi to Korean bar-b-que is completely worth the wait. I love Chef Kiyen's menu and restaurant! I highly recommend Kiyen's Kamikaito!

I know this is Little Rock, but make an effort. The yellow tail was not fresh, and the spicy tuna tasted like cat food, and did not have jalapeño as described on the menu.

Absolutely lovely, parked across and walked over, love little ice cream bar with fresh waffle cones, lovely Korean bbq, but I had the Chenal Roll of course! Missed giving Kiyen a hug, but an over great place to celebrate our and have a party. Grand piano playing in the background and very attentive team! Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our lives with great wine & food!! Love it!

Absolutely loved this place. It was extremely clean the food was wonderful and we never had an empty glass. My only complaint was my hot stone pot wasn't right but everything else was wonderful. Can't recommend it enough.

We had a lovely, relaxing dinner at Kiyens. Our waitress was attentive and the restaurant was spotless. Our selections were perfect and fresh.
We had stopped in at a really fun bar/restaurant down the street but it was too loud for me today after driving all day. It wasn’t busy but should be because it’s a great spot!

The sushi is all fantastic, from the traditional rolls to their more unique ones. The hostess always makes you feel at home like your party are the only guests in the restaurant. By far one of my favorite local establishments.

I'm a little late getting to this review, but this place is a wonderful place to have sushi. Staff was very kind and attentive, my rolls were simply exquisite, and I did not feel rushed while enjoying my meal.

Many delicious menu options for numerous dietary palettes. Rich combination of "traditional" and "fusion" dishes. Will definitely be returning for instant favorites and to experience more of the menu!

Very curious to eventually learn more about chef Kiyen's Omakase option! Certainly a concept I've never heard of before in the Little Rock area.

Walked in at 8:15 pm; our daughter got her food about 8:40 and finished eating; my husband and I finally got our food at 9:30 and had to take it to go. You would think that spending over $100 and waiting SO long for our food that they would have comped something or at least apologized, but NO!!! This was our first time here and probably our last!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Upscale Asian restaurant with a large menu and delicious sushi! Conveniently placed next to our favorite coffee shop and the bus & trolley stop in northern Argenta, Arkansas. I hope they get their ice cream bar up and running soon!

Nice restaurant atmosphere, not authentic Japanese, more like Korean. Server was very forgetful. The food was good, but the sushi was lukewarm and the miso was basically just broth. Kind of expensive for the service and quality received. They do have a great selection of Sushi rolls though. Our daughter had a blast with the kids chopsticks.

Here is a place you can have conversations and the food is beautiful to look at and is delicious. They treat children like royalty although not many children come. I love that the atmosphere is so calm and service is fast. Everyone is so kind. It is my favorite restaurant in North Little Rock.

Updated review: KamiKaito has delicious, high quality sushi. It has become my favorite sushi spot in or near Little Rock. I highly recommend the Japanese chirashi for anyone who likes sashimi. Completely worth the price tag. For reluctant sushi consumers, go for the beef yaki roll. It has steak and a flavorful sauce and no fish.

Original review, to which Chef Kiyen replied: Same as the previous review. We came at 7:15 on Friday night and it was closed. We didn't see any signage on the door indicating why they were closed or how long. Nothing on Facebook either. Hope they're not gone for good.

12/10!! Their KBBQ Bulgogi tasted like perfection and their combo dishes were very good!! The staff was beyond friendly and welcoming and it was a nice dining experience. They also have a ice cream/boba/bubble tea corner and their mango tea was amazing. Would recommend!!

Have had great food and a great experience every time I've gone. Sushi, appetizers, lunch bento boxes, it's all been very good. We've recommended it several times and taken friends and family.

I also like that their sushi rolls are an appropriate size to eat a piece in one bite.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in all of Arkansas. The food is fantastic, the servers are always kind, and the menu has been completely overhauled! There are a numerous amount of new items on the menu, but we always go for the tried and true specialty rolls. I highly recommend the Master Roll as it is a unique experience of sight and taste. Something about real fire on your dinner table... and the baked avocado flavor, I really can't describe it 🤤. Chef Kiyen provides a great dining atmosphere highlighted by beautiful artwork and elegant piano music. They have a patio that looks like it will be open for outdoor dining soon, but not yet. I highly recommend bringing the family by for dinner at this great sushi restaurant in the heart of Argenta.

This is a "Go To Again And Again" restaurant! I ordered the Chef's Choice Sashimi combo (see pic), tempura vegetables, and hot saki to share with my friends. The other diners ordered tempura shrimp, miso soup, and California roll. So here's a measure of how good the food is: my Arkansas friends had never eaten at a Japanese / Korean style restaurant and they ate everything that Kamikaito served us, including the food that looked "funny"! Great place and we'll go there again. BTW, prices are very reasonable. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the fluorescent lighting is a bit harsh. Service was great and charming.

Chef Kiyen has made some recent changes to the lunch menu! Delicious as always! Be sure to try the tuna tataki if you never have!

The food and prices are very good with welcoming hosts and a good wait staff. The side ice cream/drink bar is a fun touch and separate from the main dining area and standard bar. We were very happy to see them open again.

This is a very cute place with friendly and attentive service. I didn't think the uncooked fish in the sushi was very fresh, and overall the rolls were a bit dry. I hope to try it again in the future and see if that was just an unusual experience.

Honestly I have no idea why more people aren’t making this there go to place. The food is always fresh and vibrant, the service is absolutely phenomenal, and so prompt.

Stopped by within the advertised hours and place was completely closed. Checked updates here and on FB and didn’t see anything about revised operating hours. If I’m wrong I’ll be happy to take this down because the place looks great, but don’t want anyone else to make the trip out here and be disappointed.

I went to get Gelato and the lady who ran the gelato and boba area was extremely sweet and accommodating to the needs of the group I was with. I got the strawberry gelato and it was expertly topped and served and was by far the best I have ever had in Arkansas!! I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone and I will definitely be returning for their dinner service and more gelato!

Have been sick, not keeping anything down. I went for miso. Told the waitress I'd been sick. Next thing I knew the chef was at my table. He asked a few questions. Then he made me the BEST lightly seasoned chicken & rice soup, very light with cabbage. My hands were shaking until I got a few mouthfuls. It was excellent & I kept most of it down. Plan to go back after doctor visit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND KAMIKAITO!

did not think there would be good sushi in land-locked arkansas, but this is 10/10! high quality ingredients and tons of options. the calamari is one of the best ive ever had. will definitely be back!

This place is a gem! They follow CoVid regulations on social distancing and their food is amazing!! Sushi the best, hibachi fried rice a little different then what im used to but still quite delicious. Try it!

This place is amazing! We thought they were open until 9:30, but they closed earlier with COVID hours on the door. They seated us at 8:40 anyway and were genuinely welcoming. The sushi was delicious and fresh. They brought it out on a beautiful boat platter with a bunch of garnishes. We were truly impressed by their quality and kindness. Thank you so much!!! ❤️
