Biggest complaint about this restaurant is the portion size. Ordered from the lunch menu, a French Dip Sandwhich (shown on photo) which is smaller than the average hand. Mind you, the bread they use for this Sandwhich is naturally bulked up, making it look bigger.

For $13 I honestly wouldn't come here again to eat, you'll probably spend a fortune during lunch to be full.

Nice little cafe in Alhambra near Pasadena with a simple menu of sandwiches, croissants, coffee, and tea. The location is convenient in a lot of covered public parking. The service is quick and the staff are polite. The food is good for a cafe and a simple breakfast, lunch, or snack. If you're looking for a full complete meal then you will need to find a restaurant.

This is a nice little bakery next to GEN Korean BBQ. I got two cookies one chocolate chip and one peanut butter and they were on the crispy side but delicious. They have a $5 minimum for card payments. Staff is friendly and free street parking outside.

I was surprised I never seen or heard of this place despite living so near by. It’s such an amazing gem of a bakery. Delicious and affordable sandwiches and drinks. Even the drip coffee was good haha. Highly recommend!

Lovebirds is a place where food made with LOVE! Everything is so fresh and delicious. I constantly eat here and I can say it’s definitely one of the best place in Alhambra. Staff here really cares what they serve to their clients. Paul is taking care of every client as it’s the most precious person. Every time I come here, i truly enjoy the food.
I recommit this place if you want to have a quick brunch or breakfast, or get a fresh juice or smoothie

The most amazing croissant breakfast sandwich I’ve tasted! What was meant to be a quick coffee stop was made into a true culinary experience after tasting the most wonderfully buttery croissants served with a perfectly cooked scrambled egg. A definite must-try if you’re craving breakfast food or simply want a delicious pick-me-up snack.

Delicious food and friendly staff. I’ve been coming to this place for years because the bread and meats are such good quality. I love the Vermont cheddar sandwich on sourdough. The homemade lemonades are a plus. And I never forget to grab a pastry to go. Great lunch spot and one of the best delis in SGV.

Quality if food is good. Portion size is great. Not overloading but enough to fill you up and then a bit more. Staff are attentive and aim to please. Prices are fair. Salad is about 13 as most dishes range from 11-15.

Awful coffee! Generally you can go to a cool coffee shop and get some really good coffee. I was fooled by the name it doesn't reflect anything of it when you go in. But it seems like a lot of places around here they just add the coffee or menu there and they really know what they're doing. This thing tastes like a water down I don't even know what. Yuk. The place looks so raggedy on the inside it needs some love.

I certainly wouldn't trust the food.

A few things I look for in a coffee shop good coffee, good customer service, and a comfy place. None of the above.

I think I'm just going to stick with the brand name Starbucks, etc the business around here

love chicken soup and white ice mocha is amazing. Customer service is great. Food comes out fast. turkey sandwhich with french rolls amazing. I love salad is fresh good quiet place to eat. 11.50 for the smallest and most tastless tuna sandwich I've ever eaten. Go to Subway instead, a hell of a lot more flavor. Geez, I never thought I would say that.

Visiting the area from out of town and wanted to get breakfast at a local place on a Wednesday morning. The Mrs wanted something light, and Lovebirds appears to be a good compromise after seeing their menu online. Showed up at 8:30 AM to no pastries at all in the cases. Tried to order a breakfast sandwich on a croissant, but they didn’t have croissants either so we wound up leaving. Very disappointed.

this place used to be great, but I've never seen a place take such a nosedive in such a short period of time. I've noticed a marked decrease in quality of the food over the past few months but today was my breaking point. They were out of just about everything and the things they were able to sell us were dry, tastleless, and lazily thrown together. Hate to lose my favorite cafe like this but maybe when you guys go under your replacement will do better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good coffee, pretty good baked goods. A better option than the neighboring Starbucks -- a small mocha here is filled right to the top and a great spot to stop and chat.

I like the Walnut Cookies 🍪 they are the best. The Jalapeno Breakfast bagel with egg, cream cheese, avacado and bacon. 😽

I stopped by for a quick bite before my appt. Had the Vermont turkey sandwich on rye and fresh watermelon juice. Everything was delicious and satisfying! Will definitely be back.

Love this place for sandwiches. The quality of ingredients are great and service has always been friendly. Had the chicken salad sandwich, love that basil sandwich, Kirby's thanksgiving, chicken breast panini and Hank's favorite. Loved them all. My favorite is the Thanksgiving sandwich.

They have more pastries than the one in Pasadena (from my experience.) They have no internet but I downloaded my files and was able to comfortably complete assignments while snacking on fruit and a pecan bar. This location is full of upbeat, lovely folks who are concerned about customer service. While I was studying there the phone rang downstairs while an employee was up and he DASHED down to answer it. The salmon sandwich is delicious and the lighting is amazing. They also let me fill up my hydroflask with water when I asked and that was pretty cool.

The sandwiches I've tried at the Alhambra location have always been superb. Unfortunately, the service is NOT!! I went this morning around 11:20. One customer was sitting at a table. The staff person told her that her order was ready so she walked up to the counter. I had been standing at the counter for a few minutes and was ready to order. At least 4 staff persons saw me there and never said a word. After a few more minutes, I walked out. I do not intend to go back to the Alhambra location. It's really too bad the service isn't as great as their food. Perhaps the Pasadena location is friendlier to their customers.

Lemme tell you why I'm giving this place 5 stars. I came in half out of my mind because.I neglected to eat breakfast (and much of dinner the night before) had taken a train from Riverside to LA then a bus from LA to here and I ordered a sandwich. I dont take pictures of food much but trust me this sandwich was good. California sandwich on a croissant. They didnt skimp on anything, croissant was fresh as could be, meat tasted good and the cheese was on point. I will note. They have a five dollar minimum but its okay cause that covers half a sandwich anyway. Definitely will come back if I'm around here again.

The service is great!
I got their passion smoothie & the taste was amazing! If you like ginger this is the smoothie you should get. Their bagels with cream cheese really good no doubt about it.

Sandwiches are great! Guy behind the counter though needs some training on how to work with the public. Have been here several times and he's always very rushed and rude whether they're busy or not. A little courtesy goes a long way.

This is my go to place for a homemade feeling type of meal. I have had everything from the drinks to the desserts and have not been disappointed. I definitely recommend this place. Even the most picky palates will enjoy the food.

The food is delicious but the ambiance needs work. It's such a big building but it looks so plain and industrial inside. Needs upgrade on floors and the bathroom upstairs needs to close all the way and lock.

The staff was rude and service was slow. I ordered the greek salad with chicken. The chicken is not seasoned and taste bland and boiled. There is too much lettuce ratio to the toppings. And they don't mix your salad for you. It's just a bunch of almost whole veggies on top of wet lettuce. Makes it hard to eat, you'll need to ask for a knife with your salad

This is one of our favorite places to eat lunch. Have been coming here for a lot of years. The Hanks sandwich is a classic! Paul is our guy and always takes care of us. My daughters love getting the grilled cheese and the tuna with avocado. Also they make really good lemanade!

I love the bakery items, but the 2 ladies who work in the morning are NOT very polite, helpful, and almost rude. The last 3 times I've went they never speak and act like I'm bothering them by spending my money. I will not be going back to Lovebirds Cafe.

I went Wednesday morning around 8:30 to the cafe. I was the only one in line. There were only two other customers who were seated and already served. All the ladies who were working were in the back talking. Finally, one of the cooks saw me and told the cashier. There was no friendliness or greeting of any kind. I ordered a Turkey roll and coffee. When I got my coffee, I went to go get cream. They were all out of cream. I told one lady behind the counter that there was no cream. She just turned around and started doing something. Another customer came to get cream. I told her that there was no more. She caught the attention of the same lady behind the counter. She then poured cream into the container. When I sat down, my food was brought to me. Again, there was no acknowledgement. The lady who took my order just put my food on my table and walked away. The Turkey was very salty. I've been to Lovebirds throughout the years at least a dozen times, always at lunch. The food and service at lunch were always great. I'm disappointed with the difference between lunch and breakfast in both the service and food quality.

I have been coming here for a long time and Just now I Walk in and the cashier was very rude. first of all she did not say excuse me. When I would ask her questions I could not understand her.
Bottom line she seemed like she didn't like her job.

Been coming here since high school in the 80s. I love the pastries, coffee, and croissant sandwiches. The coffee is a significant step up from Starbucks and I'm always surprised that more people go to Starbucks than Lovebirds even though they are on the same block.

The sandwiches i buy are light and tasty, as opposed yo subway and other sandwich places. You can taste the difference in quality. The desserts are very tasty as well.

I ordered a whole Hank's Favorite tuna sandwich which was a nice portioned sandwich but it lacked flavor. It was just okay, instead of the standard white bread I should've of requested a different type of bread and had it toasted. The place has a following but make sure to have your sandwich customized a bit to the way you like it.

This place has excellent sandwiches. I always love coming here during a weekend morning to grab myself a chicken salad sandwich. In addition, the pastries are really good and you can get fresh orange juice. Definitely a great casual place to enjoy a newspaper and people watch.
