Nice quaint little spot. I tried both the beef bowl and Teriyaki chicken bowl. Both are great for a reasonable price and good size. The vegetables and meat were cooked perfectly in both. They are famous for their macadamia pancakes. Ill have to come by one morning and try them.

Parking: Parking is available along side and behind restaurant. Additional parking is available immediately next door at Ricks Burgers, though the lots are not connected or accessible to each other. Walking over from Ricks or from Alohaa lot is easily done. Curb side Parking could be done as well, with not even a ¼ block distance to cover. Be aware that Aloha is a corner business, so there is a smaller footprint for them with the main boulevard and the side street as their borders. Beyond that, Parking is good and available. Watch for peak time crowds, this seems to be a popular place for families to come visit. Kid-friendliness: Families do frequent this place. Its not geared for kid entertainment, per se, but families frequent this restaurant and the kids, well they are kids. Its nice to find a place that families feel comfortable patronizing.

Small place in a bit of a rundown small shop. Small tables, a few booths and pleasant employee. Nothing fancy here, just a quick snack dinner. The food is good, depending on what you get. (The fried chicken is covered in beer batter. Not my favorite.). But the other dishes were good, chashu pork was good, the teriyaki beef and chicken was good, the chicken sandwich was just ok, and the zucchini was good. Overall this is a simple place, with simple food at a good price. There is parking, albeit a little limited.

We found this place on Yelp and even after reading a couple of (questionable) entries we gave this a try since the menu looked interesting. We found the place clean and organized, the staff (including one of the cooks who came to chat for a minute) very friendly, and the food as good as it sounded on the menu. Either the bad reviewers came on an extremely off day, or they had a personal problem with the new ownership. We plan on returning!

Eh, brah, the food stayed broken! The lomi salmon stayed ono, the lau lau stayed kinda salty but you mix em with the lomi and it stayed winners. Small but cozy, and food is definitely comfort food, making you feel like youre away in a little town in Hawaii. It may not appear like this when you see it on the outside, but once you step inside, you definitely see it and feel it. This is definitely one of those spots that IYKYK! Sausage is soo....good, and the rice and pancakes are delish! Come visit on a Saturday morning ~ come early, it gets busy.

As close to island food as I could find. A delicious and authentic Hawaiian food tucked away in a small restaurant setting. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Ordered during the lunch rush and was surprised my order of 5 items were ready in 15 minutes. Best to avoid parties greater than 6 as seating is limited. Take out options are available for anyone looking to grab and go. A must stop for locals or tourist alike.

Get the Macadamia Pancakes. DO NOT get the Korean Short Ribs. Seems like they re simmered or cooked on a lower heat and they are simply inedible with the stringiness when it s not freshly grilled. Came in for 2 small chicken bowls to go, pretty basic stuff. They took about 30 min to get us the food, and while I was driving off, I checked the bag, and there were no forks and not enough teriyaki sauce, so I paid the extra for it no problem. The parking lot and restaurant itself would benefit from adequate lighting and a better and quicker service. I also want to mention both me and my friend who are here had an allergic reaction to something after eating it, but I cant say 100% from where or why.

So this place was highly recommended to my wife by her friend. When it comes to big island food I m always highly skeptical since I grew up with rutz Hawaiian and back home at Lahaina. But I was curious and open to anything We came in a Sunday 45mins after opening and they had about 3 couples/groups of friends eating Kitchen seemed busy and you order at the register, they don t bring the menus to you if you sit down I ordered the loco moco with Portuguese sausages and macadamia pancakes While the portions are large and filling the meat was bland almost precooked and just reheated. The gravy was bland to not rich in flavor just creamy in texture. Now the pancakes were something I was looking forward to and shared them since it s a large portion for 2 The macadamia is not inside the pancakes like blueberry or chocolate pancakes but sprinkled on top of a sweet light custard textured topping They were filling Now lunch here looks good so I ll give it a shot Service was basic nothing to be about.

So I will start by saying I have had a lot of Hawaiian food. On the mainland and on the island many many time. This was so bad I felt upset. I order kalua pork. It was drenched in soy sauce. It was soon salty I couldnt had to stop. Plus the chicken katsu batter was so bad. It was hard as a rock. Plus just incase you didnt have enough soy sauce they give you more to put on you katsu. No katsu sause. Kalua pork also smell strongly of liquid smoke. If you know what good Hawaiian food is suppose to taste like dont come here.

So, I hadn t been here in three years because I d moved out of state. The food is phenomenal but the service is lacking. This place is not fine dining or even known for its ambience but the food served is always delicious. My father enjoys this place so we brought his lady love to experience it and I wish it had gone better. So, you now order at the counter and retrieve utensils and condiments from a shelf by the counter - weird. For a small place with a few tables and booths one would think this wouldn t be like a cafeteria but here we are. It s a good thing the cashier isn t a waitress because she didn t get the number of orders right. I asked for three Loco Mocos w scrambled eggs and she only got two. I asked for a large order of the macadamia nut pancakes to share and so when they didn t bring the third order of Loco Moco i got up to ask when that would be served. The cashier was surprised that I hadn t asked for the third when I had ordered them individually. We paid the nearly fifty dollar check, including 15% tip. Again, the food is delicious but ensure you repeat your order and check your receipt because the cashier won t take responsibility and then offers to finally charge you for the item she missed - as my father and his lady are halfway done with their breakfast. We were patient and waited for the third order to come out. Why would someone sit there as the other two people are dining, the pancakes are untouched and napkin and utensils sit there waiting for the open spot in front of them for a plate of food? The cashier looked around like she was going to find the verbalized order under the screen and behind the counter - confused. Service has gone down, dramatically. We used to be greeted warmly and fussed over like you were at home. Aloha has lost that welcoming and warm feeling.

We haven t been here since we moved out of LA County back in 2020. They have seating outside now. We dined inside. They also added more seating inside. The question that my wife and I had is where are Betty and Ernie? We are use to having one of them taking our order. You now have to place your order at the cashier. They take your food out to you. The food tasted the same. I ordered the breakfast plate with the sausage and over easy eggs. We also ordered macadamia nuts french toast. I think they use thicker bread now. Theres an area where you can get utensils, ketchup, soy sauce, plates, napkins, and to-go containers. They also have bins where you can put your dirty plates and recycle cans. If were in the area again, well stop by. Mahalo Betty and Ernie.

Got the Kalbi. Plate had several bones with no meat and the pieces with meat had tons of fat. The vegetables were overcooked. I left the bbq pork because it had a bad smell and it honestly tasted like they cut up jerkey and marinaded it with teriyaki. I got the masubis. I could tell the spam was cooked extra not sure if it was going bad or by the dryness it was old. Not sure how this place has such a high rating. Seems like one of the worst places I have eaten. I have never left food at a table and left. Mind blown at the rating and my experience.

2 entree breakfast plate / loco moco (Hawaiian meatloaf soaked in brown gravy), kalua pork, 2 fried eggs, rice - 5 ! Whoever decided to make meatloaf, smother it in brown gravy, then add eggs and rice and call it a breakfast dish needs to stand up and take a bow. What a f-ing excellent breakfast combo. Ive enjoyed Hawaiian BBQ for many years but have never tried loco moco before. I finally had my chance at Aloha Food Factory. The place was busy the entire time I was there and is clearly beloved by the neighborhood. I completely get it. The food is amazing. Im a big guy, so I also had the kalua pork. Honestly, kalua pork is one of my top 3 pulled pork meats ever in any cuisine. It is just so tasty when done well, and this one was awesome. The eggs, rice, and gravy made for a very satisfying and savory meal. I used to work in Alhambra. Im kinda bummed I never went here. There were more items on the menu I was eager to try so Ill have to find time to return soon.

Review №195

My wife came here years ago (pre-COVID times) and absolutely LOVED it. NOT the case now. We didnt even bother staying to eat. We were looking for the experience we had last time we came... good service making us feel like we are back home in our ina, and to be able order what we want (not the tons of stuff they apparently no longer do on weekends; ie, burgers, soups, and stews, or noodles). Seriously, if this place wants to be the family-style Hawaiian restaurant it claims, its needs to go to the way it originally was. And I cant stress enough, how do you NOT serve BURGERS, SOUPS, STEWS, AND NOODLES on weekends? Soups and stews are often made on weekends back home! Yall already know that us Hawaiians will crave Saimin on ANY day. What are yall doing?!? Yall need to stop.

A local fixture. Best Hawaiian place around. Vegetarian options: Hawaiians like their meat! Parking: Easy parking.
