You don’t stay in business for over 100 years for no reason! As an Alhambra native I have a special place in my heart for certain places that make Alhambra what it is, and this is definitely one of them.
Their flavors are delicious! The price is fair! And the atmosphere is unbeatable!
So many wonderful memories at this iconic ice cream shop, and you can feel that when you’re there.
Some original favorite flavors are green tea, and cookie monster which the kids love! I personally always enjoyed the banana walnut!
If you’re in town it’s definitely one of the top 3 to visit!

Fosselman's Ice Cream is the to go to when you have craving for ice cream when you are in the neighborhood. I have been visiting this ice cream parlor for at least 30 yrs. They have a very long history.

Bought a take-home tub of vanilla ice cream. Price was very reasonable $10ish, which did make me wonder. We were very disappointed with the very unnatural texture and taste. Read the ingredients list and sure enough, gum and other junk ingredients. Fosselman’s: you’re an institution. I went there because of that. Charge more (I would gladly have paid more!) and preserve your quality and name, please.

While staying in Pasadena for the weekend, we decided to get ice cream here after dinner tonight. They accept cash only but there is a Wells Fargo right next door if you need cash. They have so many flavor options for ice cream and their prices are very reasonable. We got 2 two-scoops with waffle cones, 2 one-scoop with sugar cones, one scoop in a bowl, 3 brownies and candy for our boys. The total was less than $35 and all of our ice cream was delicious. We haven't tried the brownies yet, but we're saving those for tomorrow. They do look like they will be delicious however just by looks. If you're local or stopping through, you must try Fosselman's for a sweet treat.

We have been going here for 50 years, and the ice cream is still horrible! The customer service is just as bad. We still go every 10 yrs or so just to see if we get lucky. No luck again. 5 stars because it's an old-school spot and the prices are very good.

My parents took me to this parlor since I can remember in the 60's. Walking in was like going back in time! I loved telling my grandson, Robert, about how his namesake Grandpa took me there when I was his age! Of course, this was probably lost to him but I certainly was enjoying myself! Thank you for keeping the historical integrity for us old kids! ❤️

This place is still the best, all these years later. In Alhambra things have changed so much. Most of the mom and pop places are long gone but Fosselmans and maybe 4 other places are still going strong. Thank goodness. Some of the creamiest, best flavored ice cream🍦 I've ever had. Get this too.. their prices are still fair!! Customer service is still awesome. They seem like talking to a friend instead of an employee/ customer thing. The regulars get called by their first names and everyone is happy and smiley. Very good vibes. Too bad the whole world isn't a Fosselmans store. 😃 Their seasonal pumpkin spice was really yummy and their Dodger themed ice cream Sunday was great. It's made with this bright blue ice cream called "Cookie Monster" It's was good. Thanks Fosselmans for making great products and a friendly community place to hang out and enjoy it. 👍 🍦 🍨 🍦 ❤️

Good ice cream BUT the disregard to customer satisfaction and arrogant attitude of the owner and his kid who run the place is disappointing. Exemplified by “a drizzle of hot fudge makes it a Sunday” policy enforced with no exceptions by owner and his kid. Just charge me for the drizzle of hot fudge! “No, that makes it a Sunday and it is what it is”.
Well, full fudge, nuts, whipped cream and a cheery makes it a Sunday in my book. Just charge an extra buck for the fudge and make your customers happy.
And this place is still inconveniently cash only! Bunch of kids handling money and serving your ice cream!

Very rich flavorable creamy ice cream 🍨 and the only drawback they only take cash. This ice cream may be a bit too harsh for those who are lactose intolerant. This establishment has been here since 1919 and is hustling and bustling with a small parking lot on the side. Seating is very limited due to it being a small place. Had a great time and love the atmosphere.

The ice cream was good since I got the pistachio nut ice cream with whipped cream, pineapple syrup, and a cherry on top.
The only problem is we didn't know (or see) a "cash only" sign. We were only told about it once it was time to pay.
Luckily, the gentleman who helped us let my daughter go to the car and get some change left in my car. He was kind and sympathetic.
It was my first time going, and it was very unfortunate that it's a cash only business. I understand that cash only is good for the business, but they are losing out on getting new customers with this rule. As well as making it awkward for one to purchase something. I think it's time for the shop to begin doing card payments because at this rate it will be difficult to maintain steady customers.

TL;DR: vintage ice cream place with the quality of a grocery store.

One of those ancient businesses that survives purely on the fact that they’re old. The ice cream was literally freezer burnt - not sure how that happens unless they’re consistently refreezing their ice cream instead of preparing fresh.
Also, I’m not sure how this is possible, especially after 100+ years, but their VANILLA ice cream tasted completely artificial, no semblance of real vanilla bean or at least real extract used.

THIS IS AN UPDATE: on this nice and bizzare Spring Day
I usually love this place! Although , felt disappointed today. My Lady and I order a single scoop Sundae for each of us, while our Son Mike had a Cookie Monster Malt. Everybody's elses items were good, except for mines? My Vanilla Bean, Hot fudge sundae had like a bitter taste to it, almost like the Chocolate was burnt or something to do with it. They have so many different kinds of ice cream to make whatever Sundae you are in the mood for. Today there was a little bit of a line as there usually is..but we'll worth it. Well almost worth it? Least I thought. The moral of my story today is for thee employees to be trucha with heating up the chocolate, too much will ruin it like did to mine. My half eaten Sundae sits in my freezer waiting to toss it tomorrow in a trash can. Sorry folks! Usually don't write reviews like this but, unfortunately. These kind of things can happen and will happen with human errors happen, your's truly, sincerely yours, Chuy, the Sneekster, from you know where? San Gabriel, the Barrio, aka the Hood. With Respect

Cash only at this spot!

Fosselman’s has got to be one of my favorite ice cream spot. When I used to live here, I would get Fosselman’s often. Now, whenever I’m back in town, I have to make a stop here. This spot has been around for over a century. They sell ice cream, floats, ice cream cake, cheesecake brownies, candy, and shakes. I’ve tried the Ube, English Toffee, Peppermint Bark, Blueberry, Cookies and Cream, and a whole bunch of other flavors. All the flavors that I’ve tried tasted very rich, creamy, and not too sweet. Usually whenever I eat ice cream, it gets very sweet towards the end, but this one I can eat a lot! They also sell pre packed ice cream in tubes that you can buy to take home.

The workers here were working hard and was very friendly. The person that helped me let me try a lot of samples! The ambiance is good all around for everyone of all ages.

This is one of the best ice cream spots that I genuinely appreciate. Not only is it rich in history, but also rich in flavor!

The ice cream was solid, but not a stand out in terms of flavor or texture. They have cakes, hard candies, prepacked ice cream, sundaes, floats, brownies, etc.. lots to choose from, and def has a old school vibe and feel throughout. Some street parking, and a small tight lot west of the location. The location is cash only!! There are signs upon entering! Ice cream is alright, some flavors are better than other but don’t go here in the afternoon as the servers (specifically a woman) is super rude and aggressive and that’s makes it difficult to navigate the simple and fun process of getting an ice cream. Seems like many other reviewers here have faced a similar issue with the particular woman server being a jerk towards customers and they are super stingy with the two tasting only policy, no matter how much gallons of ice cream you are buying and considering they have over 30 flavors. Evenings are better and you’re treated with good service and respect. There are other places with better ice cream and especially better service.
