Charlie's Trio Cafe

Great spot for a dinner date with friends, family or that special someone. Portions are quite shareable… this is coming from a guy that can eat a good portion and still help my significant other with their meal lol.
The service was great, the seating out in the patio was nice.

We came for lunch and enjoyed the outdoor patio to ourselves. The service and atmosphere were good. The food was just ok to me. The chicken pesto sandwich had a lot of pesto but it got dried up under the heating to melt the cheese. It may have been in there too long. The calzone was decent as was the lasagna. The Cesar salad could have used more dressing. There is a free parking structure just behind the restaurant which is very convenient.

I had the best chicken Parm here! It was perfectly seasoned, yummy and the pasta was a perfect compliment. This place has been around for a while, and it shows with the attention to detail and the great service. I would definitely recommend going here.

I took a detour due to police activity on the road which led me to Charlie's Trio restaurant. I decided to grab lunch there. I ordered the pepperoni pizza which the taste and look reminded me of Gino's pizza that closed up a long time ago. It was delicious. The flavor of the cheese and sauce were excellent. The crust was a bit think , but I enjoyed it. The pepperoni was good, however a bit greasy. I sampled their meatballs and Italian sausage, and both were tasty, but the sausage was a bit overcooked. We grabbed a baby spinach and gorgonzola salad, which was crisp and fresh. Dessert was ordered, banana cream tart, fruit tart, and order the canoli but they gave me a slice of tiramisu. The tiramisu and banana cream were excellent, but the fruit tart custard was too watery. I would repeat for the pizza, salad, and banana cream tart. Total with tax $82.95. I'll be back to sample the other pizzas

Just had Charlie's Trio through a work function that provided us with lunch. It was the last day of our training and we were treated (?) to pizza and salad. I can't tell you how much it costs because it would be in poor taste to ask the class moderators. I was happy to have a somewhat healthier option than the day before of roast beef sandwich on a buttery croissant. But I digress. So the Spinach & Baby Greens Salad was served party style in a big bowl with two medium sized dressing, Italian perhaps and ranch. It was ok, nothing mind-blowing about the dressing.
The pizzas were good. I had the pepperoni-jalapeño and mushroom with olives. I enjoyed the latter better because the pep was a thin slice that got soggy by the time lunch came around.
Maybe if it was fresh off the oven it would have been better.

Great food as always great service amazing food oh my have I told you they have the VERY BEST MOZZARELLA CHEESE STICKS EVER?!?!? You will want an order all to yourself I’m telling you!!! Host was kind and courteous and very well organized great ending for our early Mother’s Day dinner this is a great place to feast and the pizza I SWEAR BY THEIR PIZZA BEST PIZZA EVER!!!!! Perfectly baked to perfection I have never had any complaints and this is 1 hour and 45 minute drive from my home in Victorville and it is ALWAYS WORTH THE DRIVE! Parking can be a little annoying but VERY WELL WROTH THE TRIP AND THE PARKING!!!

The manger was very friendly and the server was great in taking our order and bringing our food quickly. Suggested dishes and cocktails. Very beautiful place, clean and very aesthetic. Our group enjoyed dinner together. They have these amazing cookies, a must to take home.

I can't say enough good things about this Italian restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. The staff made us feel like we were the most important guests in the world. And the food! Oh my, it was a taste of Italy on a plate. The homemade pasta was simply divine, and the pizza was as close to Naples as you can get without a plane ticket. The ambiance was perfect for a cozy date night - intimate and charming. I'll definitely be coming back for more.

Good food but horrible service. Asked for bread three times but never received.
Had to ask for everything.. bread , sugar for coffee, desert choices even though waiter could not suggest an item cause he doesn’t like sweets… etc.I felt it was about turnover and not a dining experience. I felt we had to work for what we came here for.

Forced to leave before we could finish our after dinner coffee. Why? A reservation for our table! Warn us before you take our money that you are kicking us out.

Good food, lousy service, take your money without allowing you to have a decent dining experience. This is my first experience here at the Alhambra location. Thank goodness for the good company I came here with but felt cheated.

The cook cuts corners. Or it is the policy of the restaurant to serve Chicken Marsala without Marsala wine sauce on top of chicken thighs with some sauce that is not Marsala wine. Never had such a dish with chicken thighs.

We came for lunch and enjoyed the outdoor patio to ourselves. The service and atmosphere were good. The food was just ok to me. Great happy hour and good food. The semi enclosed patio has heat lamps from above that keep you warm in the winter. The waitress Dominique was very attentive checking on us often even though we were the only ones outside.

I ordered the grilled chicken and broccoli from the children's menu because I told the waitress that I did not want anything too big. She suggested the children's menu. When I received my plate it was a small thin slice of chicken which was dry and tasteless, and what looked like a pound of broccoli which I couldn't eat all of. When the waiter asked how my meal was, I told him it was dry. He apologized and said he would let the cook know. Then my bill came. I was charged more than the children's price. I asked the waiter about it and I was told that he could not charge me the children's price. I paid my bill and left. I later called to complain and spoke with the waiter who was one of the 2 people serving me. He might have been training the waitress. Any way, he said he would have the manager call me but of course, no one called. Needless to say I probably won't be returning although I would have liked to have tried a pasta dish.

Been coming here for the past 10 years and this place never disappoints. They provide focaccia bread and olive/pesto oil as a complimentary appetizer which is delicious. Pizzas and pastas are amazing as well l. Service is great as well. Prices are very fair and u can still have a fine dining experience.

The selection of menu items was great.. traditional flavors executed deliciously. Even the Caesar Salad was tasty, well-dressed without weighing it down. The bread and seasoned olive oil was very nice too!
Service staff was both efficient AND friendly. Give Charlie's Trio a try...we're glad we did.

Attempted to order from Grubhub but the restaurant has the option off. I called to place a pickup order, and was told I can only order the Antipasto as a large when doing takeout… I’m ordering for 1 person. Never mind. Will not be supporting this place. Still surprised they’re up and running.

Was with some friends at the nearby motel and we needed a restaurant open in the later hours, and Charlie's was very ideal, being just across the street, so we paid a visit. Excellent atmosphere with that somewhat darker interior that befit the place, but very warm and welcoming in the staff and the service providers. I selected the cheese tortellini with pesto cream. It was a most appetising fare, and the bread sticks were hot and fresh, perfect for the leftover sauce on my plate. Many thanks to the chefs and other staff for a pleasant dining experience. I had seen this location and the other location in South Pasadena and thought, I have to try this. My wife and i came on a Sunday before five pm for our date night.

My wife and I finally made it in and there were signs starting to see the hosts near the neck of the restaurant. They asked how many and I replied two. The hosts said you may sit where we'd like.

We looked at the menu and we were amazed at how much was offered. My wife went with the Shrimp Scampi and I decided to go with the Broasted Chicken with spaghetti and vegetables. Soft drinks have refills as needed. To finish this delightful evening wife and I shared a tiramisu. Yummy!

The food was good as well as the attention from the different staff members. I am glad we finally stopped by to get to know this place. Everything ok the menu has a description.

I apologize if the menu photos aren't that great.

The food is fresh. The service is good. There is a bar section or even seating is available outside. There is also seating inside as well as seating at the bar. Food quality is good. My wife and I have been frequent visitors for about a year. So far the menu hasn't changed. They offer shell fish, Salmon, pasta dish's, pizza, salads, soups, deserts, etc. a fairly wide selection. Full bar. Quaint neighborhood right where South Pasadena, Alhambra and El Sereno all meet.

Overall, the food is pretty good,! I got the baked salmon with pesto spagetti, and rack of lamb, both excellent! The server was not .
She came around, took one order, and didn't ask the second person at the table what he wanted. Then, she became snippy when he mentioned that he also needed to order. When she returned the second time as I'm stuffing food in my mouth. She hurriedly asked me how the food was. When my friend paid for the check with cash, she had the nerve to put my friend on the spot by asking any if he needed any change back. That's the ultimate mistake, IMHO. The reason is that you don't put the customer on the spot about what their change or tip should be. It's none of your business at that point what the customer decides to tip. Much less, to put the in customer in a position to feel uncomfortable about getting thier own money back.

Great date night here! Ambiance was very nice, lounge-like without being too dark. Food and wine was amazing and I was shocked by the great prices! Waitress was pleasant and attentive. If I lived close I would be going all the time.

It's a nice place for hang-out. The bread is normal, nothing special. The pasta is quite good. The pizza is not good, not enough cheese so it makes the pizza so dry. The base is not crispy at all. I recommend you to order the pasta because it seems to be their specialty. (Unfortunately I cannot upload the video of pasta and pizza).

My fig & pear salad was not the same. Pears are now cooked instead of Sliced fresh. The salad was doused with dressing which was overkill. Restaurants/ chefs need to remain consistent with their dishes or make it better not worse. Disappointed. Makes me not want to go back.

My wife, dog, and I enjoyed a wonderfully mild afternoon at Charlie's Trio. We shared a great Roma Gorgonzla pizza (a field greens salad on a thin crust with caramelized onions and Gorgonzla). I also had a very tasty Pasta Bud (taking half home).

A local from the golf course recommended this place as we were traveling through, and it did not disappoint! Their oil and bread appetizer started us off with a great impression. I could have eaten just that and been happy. I got the southwest pasta and it was very fresh and flavorful. We also ordered the raviolis, kids chicken and an alfredo, and a shared pizza. We didn’t have one single complaint. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Prices were very reasonable and it was kid friendly. I would go back if we travel through the area again!

Very good service at the bar and restaurant. I will patronize Charlie's Trio on Main in Alhambra. We went to the one on Huntington in So. Pasadena but the bar doesn't open until 4pm. Not good for me.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS Charlies Trios (CT)
I was about to make a large to go order and I wanted to add 1 kids spaghetti, and they let me know that I could not make a to go order for a kids meal. It was so absurd that I thought it was joke, but it wasn't. Although I've ordered kid spaghetti from CT Main street over a dozen times, the person taking the order over the phone stated they no longer could do these kids orders to go. I promptly called CT Huntington Dr, where they accommodated my order as they always do. Additionally, you get a side of garlic bread with your to go meals at CT Huntington. CT Main st doesn't give you any side bread with their to go meal.

Avoid CT Main, they're a joke.

Haven't been here before but was impressed at how quickly I was seated. Service was good, but the restaurant was very noisy at 6:00 pm.

Amazing, happen to walk on because the dodger game was on. I did not know how delicious the food would be. I ordered the Alfredo, very tasty. The best part was the sautéed mushrooms they made for me. Just enough garlic, the taste was exquisite.

Pizza and chicken are the best! Especially the chicken. Chicken deals are cheap with excellent quality and taste. A must try if you're in the area!
