Tip: Go at 11am, raw meat comes out quicker. Order at least 3 meats and keep on ordering. It's gonna be fatty, that's flavor, and for me, a little heartburn is expected. Get the lunch special, #1 for a good thick steak, then use the fat to flavor the rest. Btw, you cook the meats at your table. Fun for a carnivore date, not so much for vegetarians.

Food was good, but the service is horrible. "All you can eat for 2 hours," they said. But you're stuck waiting for 10-20 minutes intervals for them to bring you 2 plates of meat and another 10minutes to finish cooking. For 5 people!? Lol.

Our table of 5 literally had 2 bites per plate every time! 20-30 minutes to receive and cook our food and done in 2 minutes. 1 grill for 5 ppl, 30 minutes to wait for 2 more plates.... *sigh*.

Not sure if they're severely understaffed but this is ridiculous. They should say "All you can eat in 2 hours IF WE CAN GET TO YOU...EVENTUALLY."

Terrible management (no kmichi, no radish paper, no staff scheduled for an hour gap, and rationing meat portions), but excelent service from staff. Came here on a Thursday at 5:10 pm and had to wait more than an hour because management didn't schedule anyone to work the upstairs area from 5pm-6pm. Got sat down after an hour and was notified that there was no kimchi and no radish paper - the two main sides we come to Kbbq for.

I spoke to the manager , Alfonso?, and he told me there was kimchi and radish paper, but it was frozen because the delivery just got there at 4 pm. Alfonso promised and assured me I'd get unrestricted kimchin and radish paper and only received 1 order.

The portions of meat we were receiving were outrageously small. It seemed like management was rationing meat to accommodate their inability to order merchandise accordingly. Pictured is 4 orders of meat: 2 x Bulgogi and 2 x brisket.

The staff was amazing despite management ruining their customer's experiences.

We love Gen KBBQ, I have been to so many kbbqs throughout the years in SoCal, and so far, Gen has been our most liked, especially since it is not too cheap but nottooo expensive like other places

I have eaten to mot of their restaurants, San Diego, Cerritos, Glendale, etc, and we had ups and downs but interesting that this particular location at Alhambra offers Tacos meat with tortillas and Salsas. I definitely recommend you try it out if you are under a budget, and hopefully, you get a great server since this makes a huge difference to have a good time.

It was a bit cramped but was manageable if you organize the dishes that have been used by stacking them. Our favorite meats were the center cut marinated short rib and the premium wagyu for beef and the Hawaiian pork belly for pork. The premium garlic sauce was a great pairing with them as well. Service was very quick for the first hour we were there and then tapered off a good bit so order your food initially in a large quantity to keep them coming. We primarily stuck to the premium item menu for ordering but the items we got from the standard menu were also good. It can definitely get loud especially upstairs so be mindful of that.

I was craving Korean bbq and this spot popped up and my searches. This is a solid Korean Bbq spot.

I just ordered their basic all you can eat menu and ordered some a la carte items. The quality of meats were great and it was delicious overall. The cooking experience was great(constant grill changes) and their menu has a lot of items.

There wasn’t as many sides(missing potato salad) as compared to other Korean bbq spots I’ve been to, but still enough for lunch. Overall it was a great dining experience.

I’d definitely come here again. Parking is limited to street also or nearby structures.

We stepped in at 2:40pm to get lunch but were told that price needs to determined by the time we got seat. As the restaurant lack of staff, service speed was very slow, we got seats at 3:10pm and had to pay $10 extra per person for dinner price.

By far the worst kbbq I've ever been to. The services was SO SLOW!!! You're only allowed to order 4 small dishes at a time for 4 people!!! Come on!!!! By the time we finished eating we had to wait between 10-15 minutes for the next 4 dishes to come. The server would bring your order but can't take another other because it's a different server... Most kbbq Restaurants bring you side dishes from the beginning, this one doesn't! U have to tell them which one you want on top of your meats.... The side dishes were so small for sharing, we had to order 2 of each...but they bring you 1 ... 4 people sharing that is a joke. I had to asked 3 times for extra kitchen clamps cuz the server kept forgetting. THIS PLACE IS SERIOUSLY UNDERSTAFFED! I'd not recommend it to anyone.

The brisket used to be really good now it's dry, rice paper is stale, service was horrible, adding new items and over pricing it is a no no, all the meats were super mid. Meat quality is okay. Nothing extraordinarily good but it's not bad for the price. Service is good, they get you your meats and sides pretty quickly. You have to order the banchan and salad now but that cuts down on waste. It's definitely more geared towards the younger hip crowds. It's not super special but it's a solid place to go if you want to gorge on meats. I'd suggest getting the non marinated cuts first because those will require grill changes which will slow you down in the beginning. Save that stuff for after you already got some meat on your plate so you can wait for the grill to heat up again.

Went early before it got really busy. I went around 5:15pm. The cuts of meat and the taste is always been good. You get yoursides unlimited and they kept cleaning the plates right away so the table wasn't crowded with plates.

I recently visited Gen Korean BBQ and left utterly disappointed, primarily due to the abysmal service and the rudeness of the manager. I did not get her name but she looked like a short Latina woman. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was less than welcoming. The manager, whose demeanor was condescending at best, did not seem to care if customers had a good experience.

When we raised concerns about our wait time, she responded with blatant dismissiveness, making us feel like our complaints were an inconvenience rather than an opportunity for improvement. The 20 minutes that was quoted at the beginning was more than doubled by the time we were seated. It’s disheartening to see someone in a managerial position display such a lack of professionalism and basic courtesy.

This place really surprise me when it came to the menu, when I saw that they have Carne Asada and Al pastor. Both are good, but the Asada takes the cake. Besides that everything else is really good. I highly recommend this place, can't wait to come back.

The food was really good, and they had plenty of options as well! Friendly staff and comfortable seating. We only waited about 10 minutes for a table, and we never had to ask for water refills. Overall, it was a great experience to do with some friends. It's a very fair price, and the quality of the food is amazing.

First of all the place where we were asked to sit was wet I asked the lady for a napkin to dry up but she was nice enough to do it herself and apologized. Shoutout to her.

We all asked for water cups and 3/5 cups were dirty around the rim area SO PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CUP RIMS. ( are they not washing dishes properly?)

We had like 3 different waiters. Our first guy just showed us the table and he ended up swapping with some other girl waiter who then just kinda forgot about our table. A random guy waiter noticed our grill burning so he changed it and wasnt careful so he ended up messing up the fire and walked away leaving us with no fire & our cold meats left on top of the grill.
They ended up bringing our meats to the table which were brisket and spicy chicken, we asked for a second round which they took a while to bring. We asked for spicy shrimp and they gave us 5 plain shrimps.
I always enjoying leaving a tip but $165 for 5 people, 2 adults and 3 kids + giving us whack service didn’t necessarily make me wanna leave a tip.

Great food and FANTASTIC service. I don't think I've ever had grills changed so frequently. Seats were comfortable. Music down stairs wasn't too loud (I don't know why it's been a thing lately of kbbq places bumping music so loud you can't talk). I'm definitely going back.

Love coming here every so often and of course, who doesn’t live KBBQ… portions tend to be the same every location. The only issue we had was we were given menus that were extremely dirty and greasy. They don’t take the time to clean their menus on the regular basis like our server tried to explain and told us, the hostess cleans them at night. I got a napkin to clean all the grease off of my Menu and he apologized after I showed him how dirty 3 or 4 menus were.

Lunch at GEN Korean BBQ at Alhambra for all you can it!
Its cost $19.95/person but super duper worth it!!
To be honest it makes me compare it with Road To Seoul Korean resto too  which last time i  ate there.

First at GEN korean BBQ the service super duper 2 tumbs for the staff, he serve us with smile and care attitude , he will keep ask you what you wanna to order, even at the firat time i didnot order side dish, he ask any side dish you want?
He will keep coming to your table for take the dirty plates, changes the grill more than 5x, no rules in order like road to soul. You can order so muvh meats you like as long you finish it.

My recommended meats are : Gen premium steak, honey soy beef belly, hawaian steak,  beef bulgogi and nook gan sal. Not forget try their calmari steak, Soo yummy, the meats all taste premium, and for the side dish : jap chae, deep fried mandu so cruncy and soondooboo soup the taste veryy good!!dont forget for the dessert try hotteok the korean pancakes with brown sugar, cinnamon, peanut and sunflower seed, the best dessert!!

Ive been to many KBBQ spots so Im sad to say I wouldnt come back here. Could simply be my personal preference tho I couldnt enjoy the bulgogi it was all ground up and mushy and tasted like a hamburger texture when cooked. I personally like to experience the texture of meat. The rest of the meat was great (still in original meat form) tho since bulgogi is my usual favorite it def ruined the experience for me. That said, sides were all delicious. Staff was EXCELLENT, service was GREAT and the atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. If you dont mind ground up bulgogi ull have a great time here. 🤩

No air filtration, no air conditioning. My family was put on a table on the second floor and we were all sweating and got water with no ice. We had to turn off the grill all the time. We were suffering in this environment. We were told the air conditioning was broken. And their is nothing they can do. It felt like eating in a sauna. Everybody wanted to leave home right away.

We really enjoyed our visit/dinner. The food was great, the servers were efficient and fast but Kayla, our waitress was amazing! She was very knowledgeable, friendly and on top of anything we needed. At just over $30 a person for all you can eat, this place is dangerous for the wallet. I would come here everyday if I could. Top quality meats, impeccable service. My party of three had to wait 45 minutes to be seated in the evening, but it's absolutely worth the wait. They don't do reservations by phone.

The prices were reasonable and the service was fantastic. Even though we had to wait for a table, we were able to get on a waitlist and were seated within 30 minutes. However, I have to admit that the stool seats were a bit uncomfortable, especially if you are going on a date. Overall, it was a good experience.

They are supposed to open at 11am and they didn't open until 11:30. We are there before 11, so we are the first customers. My children take me for my birthday. Finally they open and take us to our seats, give us water and rice. Waiters start taking everybody orders except us ....people coming in and they order their food and no body came to us of course we complaint. We were the first customers and no one take our order!!!!!By that time another's customers already cooking and eating. I get very mad when a new costumer came and sit and the waiters take they order right away .. we complain with the manager for second time but she just apologized. But she didn't do nothing when we complain the first time. We just left. Very bad experience in my birthday celebration!

Food is excellent.
Servers forgot several items and only got helped 3 times within 2 hours for meat. Definitely didn’t get our moneys worth

Our server completely sucked. The only way we got help was by us constantly flagging him down, he's lucky i dont know his name, otherwise i would put it in the review

2nd floor is burning hot. If it's not that hot, I would rank this place 5 stars. They are very busy so that we've been place a salad, and it never came, so that we have to keep ordering, but maybe because they are too busy, so that we had some orders to our table but not our order. They just dropped whatever and left.

Need to start out and say our server Kayla was fantastic given the set of circumstances in this work environment.

This place is horrible at best! It is not very clean by any standard! The air conditioning does not work within the facility (we sat right next to the air conditioning thermostats, they were all broken, and have been like that for months according to staff). The air clarifiers and scrubbers did not work! The exhaust fans did not work! In Korean BBQ, exhaust fans are necessary. The side dishes are a joke! The meat was not first quality with the exception of the brisket. The meat comes out so slow! Whatever you do, don't use the bathroom if you go here.

Bottom line, toward the end of our dining experience we were happy to leave! The ambient temperature inside this restaurant was 25 degrees warmer than that of the outside.

I would not recommend this location to anyone. Trash

This was my first time eating here and let me say from ALL the korean BBQ places Ive been to this has been by far the best place ....The food, service and atmosphere was amazing,, so clean and quick to attend you... I recommend you coming here if you love variety... definitely going back

Usual Gen AYCE. Always the best! We had to wait for 15mins only. Only thing was their floors are very slippery to walk, not sure why. This is only Gen location with this problem.

They were severely understaffed when I went. We were seated on the second floor and it felt like a furnace in the middle of a July afternoon. The entire floor only had a single server waiting on 8 tables and about 20 people. The poor guy must've run up and down the stairs a couple dozen times to bring the meat from the downstairs kitchen. This place really needs more workers or at least lower the number of people they let in at once.

I just don't like the fact that, you can't take your food to go. I only ordered the first round of food, and got full. Even though, they made it happen, I didn't like the fact that you can't get your leftovers, to go...

We got seated in the very back. We sat down and waited for about a good 20 minutes with no service. We got up and started to walk out the door. We told the host that no one came to help, and their response was, "Oh ok." Not a care in the world. And to top it off, it was not busy at ALL! So we walked across the street to the other KBBQ on the corner, and their service was AMAZING! (Date of visit 7/8/23)

Staff is so rude especially the hostess. Only 1 waiter was actually nice or helpful. I forgot my sunglasses and came back to get them and the hostess was once again rude to me… definitely go across the street to the non franchised place.(Road to Seoul)

When we walked inn as a party of 4 the waiters sat us at a table we didn’t like. We asked her to switch tables, and her response was “ usually we give those table to bigger parties, but feel free to switch if you would like to”. 20 minutes after we were served a similar table right next to us with a party of 1 person somehow magically was able to get similar table as we are setting on by him self “alone”. Not mentioning when we asked for oil, the waitress said“ we don’t serve oil here” we ended up asking another waitress for the little plate that you serve oil/salt/soy and they say they have it…..
not sure why that service if we are bringing business to you…….. really disappointed and disgusted by how rude the waitresses were.
I do not recommend going to this location.
