Friendly staff! I lived around the corner. I stopped there almost everyday before work and after work. They open early and close late..I loved going there!

This is the best liquor store in the entire city. The very friendly and upbeat blonde cashier was very helpful and I would recommend this place for alcohol, snacks, drinks and lottery tickets. I give Tropic Liquor 10 stars for friendliness, helpfulness and being the best in Alhambra.

The people behind the counter have a legal responsibility to follow the law when it comes to selling alcohol or they can lose the right to sell it. They deal with all kinds of people including under- age kids with fake ids trying to buy, drunks, thieves and rude people all day long. if you were asked to smile maybe you should consider your own attitude instead of picking on people who work hard to make a living. If you don’t like the service you don’t have to go there but the people that work at this business are kind and helpful

This place should show up in the dictionary under sketchy and dodgy. I've never seen so many expired products still offered. This staff is kind, but the owner is a miser. You never will know how old or from what country the products are from. My favorite was when I bought a diet coke that was labeled for Israel and was expired by two years. I had no flavor and was emptied in my kitchen sink. Caveat emptor, or in English go to 7-11 instead.

The old woman cashier is a nightmare, stupid and lazy, always late to provide what I needed.
Will block this store until they changed a cashier.
By the way, pay attention on your credit card, many people lose money from this store.

I walked in and was waiting to ask the white haired, old woman for something behind the counter. She had her food on the counter and was eating it so I waited for her to ask me what I wanted. Another customer walked in and jumped in front of me. I told him I was in line, he apologized, but the eating employee told me that I had not asked her for anything. Eat when there are no customers ! So rude

This place is been in business forever, they have quite a bit of stuff although their prices are rather High and their products are not fresh. It's okay if you're in a pinch for cigarettes or something to drink but not my first choice at all. Too many times I have bought Backwoods that were old and broken for $10 a pack you might get 2 out of 5 cigars that are usable. Even the candies and other items have a tendency to be old and stale. I'm not a drinker but they do have a good selection of cheap alcohol. Other than that it's just a Convenience Mart

I walked in the store was empty, not the older lady but the slightly younger cashier was yapping on a personal call, i placed my items on the counter she rings them up, meanwhile two others come in, the guy grabs a 40 as I ask if they have sunflower seeds, she tells me by the beer, i quickly grab my seeds she rings the 40 up, I ask aren’t you gonna ask me for id, she snaps that she not ready for me, the f, yes u just rang all my items b4 the seeds question, I pull out my id and drop it on counter, she tells me that she didn’t do anything to me why am i acting like that I ignored her now and she says whatever! I am not ever going back there! That mop headed woman is always rude no matter how nice I am, that was the last straw after several visits and me being nice she has attitude, the older lady ican handle

DONT COME HERE. There is a horrible old lady works here and if she doesn’t think your ID looks like you, she won’t sell to you. An older Caucasian lady with no teeth refused to sell me a Beatbox because she was certain my license wasn’t me . My picture was taken when I first got my license, 9 YEARS AGO. Yes I’ve changed! I’ve never had a cashier say my ID doesn’t look like me. Then she had the nerve to ask me to smile because that’s what I’m doing in my ID??? I’m not trying to sneak into a club or bar, mind you I’m 25 with an UP TO DATE license. Just a waste of time. Never going here again.

They electronically scan your driver's license without asking permission, it's a privacy violation and do not seem to think it's a big deal.

Absolutely a fine story, if you know how a neighborhood store functions then you knows what to expect those of you who are repelled by friendliness...well go somewhere else. People who help and are kind are the people that belong here. Everyone else...later fool

I just recieved a text that my card was charged at this store, I'm in Florida, this store is in California. I called the store to let them know and the rude guy that answered the phone said it's not his problem and was extremely rude. I'm not going to prickafornia any time soon, but if I did, I damn sure wouldn't go to this store. Good luck staying open. .

I had bought 2 Mystery Crossword scratchers at another liquor store. I scanned them before leaving to see if i had won anything . On one it said $40, on the other $20. I came in to tropic liquor to cash them in and try my luck here. The guy at the counter only gave me $40 for one ticket, and said that the other had been cashed in already. I told him that it was impossible. How could that be. He did not give me the $20. Needless to say that i reported the incident to CA Lottery. They told me that my ticket had been cashed in at Tropic Liquor at exactly the same time that my $40 ticket had been cashed in (what a coincidence) turns out that the guy at the counter kept my $20. Tropic Liquor can expect a surprize inspection, and either fined or get their Lottery licence revoked .

"shall I wait for you to finish your phone call to do this transaction"...?, and that always happens when I come here, the proprietor is always on the phone and makes you feel as if you're bothering him instead of making you feel welcome and wanting to shop here...and can anyone have a meaner looking face, I've been to a lot of stores where the workers seem as if they'd rather be someplace else than at work but the man that's usually there in the day, well, he takes the award for most impersonal proprietor of the year...as for shopping here well what more does one expect from a liquor store...i don't drink but I suppose if I did I'd be in wino heaven as the store seems well stocked, and with nice looking bottles lined up behind the counter way up on a shelf, but I'd hate to be that man during an earthquake because you know where all those bottles are going to land; right on top of his thick head...good for a quick stop for the newspaper or lottery tickets, which I always come for, but for a better and more friendlier shopping experience it's better to go elsewhere ...
