Drinks are great. Avoid the food. Small menu but the drinks are delicious. A little pricey, but worth for the experience. Our party of 4 each got something to eat. Someone got the ramen, I got the Kalua pork nachos, someone got the gyoza, and someone got the Hawaiian Platter. Nothing about the Kalua pork tasted like Kalua pork. Big let down considering Ive had Kalua pork in Hawaii and the flavors are amazing. This however, was a flop. The ramen - meh. The gyoza was decent but the serving was pathetic, especially at that price. And the Hawaiian platter was average. The platter is probably the best bang for your buck, too. Would I come here again? Probably not.

Drinks here lean really sweet and food is pretty expensive for mid food. Youre definitely there for the fun atmosphere. Tiki decor is always really cute though. Wait is always pretty long so plan ahead and make a reservation or head there early to get on the wait list. Sometimes it may be hard to get servers attention during the rushes.

While visiting Disneyland, we went to downtown Disney and stopped in at Trader, Sams Tiki Bar, for a drink. I ordered a Bloody Maria, and my daughter ordered the Piranha Pool. The bartender was very friendly and made great drinks for us. The price of the drinks was a little ridiculous but what do you expect when youre at Disneyland.

What happened to Trader Sams at the DLH? Long time visitor this place. Finally went back after a year and had the WORST cheeseburger I have ever eaten. Overly cooked, no season, etc. The old fried green beans are also gone. $48 for a cheeburger, fries (not bad), and one cocktail. The cast members were great as usual, but that is not enough for me to ever come back.

Kelly s attentiveness and passion for her craft truly enhanced our visit. I can t wait to return for more enchanting drinks and delightful service!

Incredibly themed and highly coveted bar!! I love that you can make reservations here in DL instead of the walk-up at WDW. I got the tiki tiki tiki tiki rum drink in the barrel mug (you can swap drinks/souvenir mugs). We ordered the pu pu platter shown in the picture and hawaiian cheeseburger (no picture)

My husband and I have been here twice now and haven t been disappointed! This place can be a little difficult to get reservations for, but I did notice last time we were there it wasn t as difficult to get an outdoor table. The staff is so kind and attentive. The food and drinks are always amazing. The cups that are available for purchase are a little expensive, but the quality makes it totality worth it. Highly recommend checking this place out! Thought I d update my review and say the menu has changed a bit sadly. The plates now only come with vegetables and rice. The macaroni salad is gone which I really enjoyed with their food. We still stop here every now and then since we are at Disney often, but it s not entirely the same as it was sadly. Still recommend this place, just miss their old menu.

What can I say about Trader Sams?! Its the quintessential tiki bar mixed with Disney magic you are sure to have a great time. The drinks are definitely the star of the show. Ive never had a dud of a drink there. The food is okay, nothing too crazy there but the glassware and atmosphere more than make up for it. Love this place!

Cool atmosphere but it all depends on if other people buy drinks. The food was pretty good but the server was lifeless. She barely stopped by our tables and didn t show any emotion. We came to celebrate my wife s birthday and even put it in the reservation but she didn t acknowledge it whatsoever. The poor service was enough to make this a once and done experience. Just do the quick service outside the restaurant so you don t have to deal with grouchy people!

Yeah, I dunno. I dont think I enjoy it as much as the Florida version. Nobody seems to be having quite as much fun here, workers included. Maybe because we were there right before the strike. Either way, the whole vibe seemed a tad forced, and our drink seemed a bit smaller as well. I dont think well make this Trader Sams a must-do stop like we do in Florida.

I had the chance to dine outdoors, but the real treat is inside, although it took too long to get a table. If you get the chance, be sure to visit the restroom to check out the interior. The drinks are great and memorable. While the food choices are limited, they are secondary to the experience, which feels like dining in a tiki room.

Had a really disappointing visit here. It was our first day and didn t have a park pass so we spent the evening in downtown Disney with a sole plan to eat/drink at Trader Sam s. We waited 10min on the Disney app which was great but once we were seated inside at the bar we didn t get service for 20mins. Once we had service we were asked for photo ID s (I am 32 my girlfriend is 29) Because we weren t American (We are Canadian) they needed a second piece of ID which would have meant our passports we left in our hotel room. Not providing a second piece of photo ID we were refused service. We spent the remaining 4 days at Disneyland/DCA without showing ID for any drinks. Disneyland website states it requires only 1 ID for anyone over 21

My husband and I are huge disney fans! Weve been wanting to come here for SO long! Finally this trip we made it happen! Sadly, this is the first time with ANYTHING disney related that we were disappointed. It was extremely small, but that is okay. The menu was very fun and had 3 non-alcoholic drinks. But the major issue was our server. WOW, I have never had such rude, careless, slow service ever in or even near a disney park. It was baffling, honestly. We were so excited, we sat down, he introduced himself in a mumble and we asked how his day has been and he answers with terrible. Then proceeds to take our drink order, never come back to take our food order, mind you this place is TINY he walked by many times and we say excuse me and at first we thought he couldnt hesr but it became very obvious we was IGNORING us. Finally, he took our food order and then again with the impossible game of getting our check! Once we had the check, we thought finally we could LEAVE well, no! He LOST OUR CREDIT CARD?! When he brought the black check thing back, we signed the receipt and realized there was no credit card. We asked him, and he literally just said, What do you mean? He fumbles around the floor looking and then goes to the back for like 2 minutes and is like oh I left it back there. No apology, nothing, just a here ya go. I really do hope this was a one-time thing for this server. I know disney sets much higher expectations for things. But it RUINED our experience. My husband was heartbroken by the lack of magic and absolute carelessness. He said he doesnt even want to go back to Trader Sams. The food was great, the drinks were good. We ordered 2 non alcoholic drinks and 1 plate to share. It took over 90 minutes to get those few items, and there were like a dozen ppl inside, so it wasnt the best experience.

So, my wife and I had just finished a long day at Disneyland for our anniversary. We wanted to get a reservation for Trader Sams, but it was already booked up, so we decided to take our chances and do a walk-up. We were fortunate and got in about 10 minutes after we walked up. We were seated outside and were happy for that, as the inside bar was loud and crowded. We did not want that for our dinner after a busy park day. Our server came by shortly after we sat down and took out drink orders. We decided to get our requisite waters and my wife got the Piranha Pool, complete with the souvenir mug. Our drinks arrived shortly after and she took our food order at the same time. We decided to get the Kalua-style Pork Nacho Poutine as an appetizer and my wife ordered the Hawaiian Platter for an entree while I got the Poke Bowl with Salmon. The appetizer came out about 10 minutes later and it was amazing! The sweet potato fries were tasty when combined with the pork, cheese, and aioli. Our entrees were on the table in short order and were very well received! My wifes platter had amazing short ribs that paired well with the veggies and rice. My Poke bowl was an impressive size compared to others I have had in the past. The salmon paired well with the toppings and other fillings and it was delicious! Overall, Trader Sams was a winner. I would even go out on a limb and say it is superior to the one in Floridas Disney World. The food selection is better and they have a more festive atmosphere. We will definitely be back if given the chance!

Had the opportunity to eat outdoors. The true treat is indoors but took too long. However you should go to restroom to see inside. Great drinks. Memorable. Food choices are small but its a secondary. Basically like eating in the tiki room. Parking: Nothing free. If you went to park or at hotel you are fine. If you are coming just for this good luck. Best option mat be downtown Disney parking. But there is no validation. There are ways. Ask around while there.

Finally took the time to check out this gem at the Disneyland hotel and so glad we did. Service was great and the atmosphere was so so fun. The decor was similar to the jungle cruise and every time someone orders a fun drink it triggers an experience like a shipwreck or volcanic explosion. It s basically lights and sounds but still very cool for the kiddos. Also the food was great - highly recommend the shrimp tempura and our server Devon was wonderful! Vegetarian options: Impossible burger and salads Kid-friendliness: Kids meal options

I have been excited to eat here for awhile and got the chance to today! I was alone and was sat literally behind a post at the bar very limited space to eat or visibility of staff or people it was a very awkward seat and not a great start to my experience. The staff was wonderful and (from what I could see around the huge post 3 inches from my face) the atmosphere was very nice. I ordered the Hawaiian platter (after arriving 5 minutes after the restaurant opened) and received my food within minutes; which usually wouldn t be a complaint for me, but everything was ice cold. Spending that kind of money for food and drinks to not have the highest quality (along with not so great seating) was disappointing to say the least. Everyone s experience will be different - I do not discourage nor encourage anyone to visit, but do hope they step up their game when it comes to food quality and seating their customers properly.

What happened to this place? We used to love it here. They ve changed the menu, the island salad is a crappy heap of bitter romaine heads with overly sweet dressing and the salmon was horribly fishy. It s used to come on a bed of butter lettuce and was so good. Our favorite, the poke bowl, is still ok, but doesn t taste as fresh. The portions have shrunk, all the tableware is plastic and the prices have increased. The server said the got rid of the kids menu but have kids options which are not listed anywhere you have to ask and the price is stupid. Unfortunately never coming back. So sad

He really emphasized with a lot of attitude that no it s not possible because it would be too much work to do that process. I said it was okay keeping a polite manner. He further dismissed me and reminded me to sign off my tab faster next time. Called me buddy condescendingly. I m disappointed in Disney s customer service these days. I wouldn t come back. Other than that. The other employees were great and accommodating and the atmosphere was great. The dole whip was good too. Bad manager/ supervisor. It was a man with a white beard in his late 40 s.

We had heard so many great things about this place so we wanted to try it out. We heard it gets busy so we got there right as they opened at 11:30am (check the app). It is located in the Disneyland Hotel area, which you can reach by walking all the way to the back of Downtown Disney area. We went out front and got our name on the walk up wait list in person right before they opened, but you can do it on the app once they open. We only had to wait about 10 minutes or so to be seated. We were brought to the bar inside (you do have to be 21 to sit at the bar itself). To get the full experience I highly recommend you request to sit inside and sit at the bar. It was absolutely the way to go here with the theming and overall experience. We ordered the Mojito, the Tiki rum, the volcano, and the tequila one for drinks. All were good but the volcano and the tiki rum were the best. When certain drinks are ordered anywhere in the restaurant the staff put on crazy effects in the restaurant and its funny to be a part of. You do have to buy into the craziness though to have a good time. For food we ordered the long greens (fried green beans) and the Ramen. The Ramen was amazing and super flavorful and definitely enough to share, just ask for another bowl. Also remember this is an enchanted tiki bar so keep an eye out for some interesting enchanted things to happen around, especially at the bar. It was so funny. Overall, you are going to pay Disney prices for food and drink here (as well as paying for the atmosphere) so be aware of that up front so you don t get sticker shock when you get your bill. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and would definitely bring anyone else coming with us next time to this bar.

Getting drinks here (with a reservation) was my very first experience of any kind at Disneyland. While the Tiki Bar is decorated nicely (nothing to write home about, but fun), the service and the drinks were forgettable. I am not sure whether we just got there on a bad day, but my expectation of Disneyland Parks was that its the happiest place on Earth and that they care for everyone to have a good time. The service reflected none of that. We were served in a manner that made me feel more like a nuisance than a valued guest. If this were anywhere else in LA I wouldnt care to comment or write this review but given the way Disney markets (and prices!) their experiences, it was totally forgettable. Go in and take a look, but spend your money somewhere else.

Pork Gyoza was amazing and the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki rum! was pretty tasty too. The drink wasnt my thing, but I can appreciate real for real. We went here when we stayed at the Disneyland hotel. We went on the waitlist which we were prepared to do. We got the text to come down for our table within 10 minutes. We made our way down and there was someone talking to the hostess for about 2-4 minutes. When we got to the front we were informed that since we were 12 minutes late our table was given away! Did they expect us to just move those people out of the way? Then to add insult to injury, we went to talk to the manager at the front of the hotel. This was a Tuesday. We went each night before leaving asking to speak to a manager and were told the manager would get back to us ASAP. Guess when they called? When we were back home and they knew (based on hotel reservation) they wouldn t have to do anything. That is saying they didn t try and get ahold of us till 4 days after the incident. Now we have tried to contact them 2 more times and still no response. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They think because they are Disney they can do whatever they want. Sad what it has become.

Food was alright, salad was no more than huge leaves of lettuce, nuts and meat. Chicken tenders were the same as in the park with to-go ranch still in the pre-packaged to-go container. To start, Disney needs to fire Jared, the manager of this place. A cast member told me she was not going to charge for the souvenir cup after ordering because it was not told to me that it was an extra cost. The menu clearly states served in a souvenir cup . When I told the cast member I did not want the cup after finding out that it was a fee, she said it s okay I will remove it from your bill. I still was served the drink in the cup because it was already made. When I got up to leave, with the cup, Manager Jared, approached me and stated I was not allowed to take the cup with me. His rude actions and approach were not welcome and simply uncomfortable. When I explained the situation he rose his voice and embarrassed me in front of others. He asked me to leave and when I did, he made a rude comment that I could easily call the cops. Yea okay dude whatever you say. This will definitely be a complaint submitted to guest services and Whoever else I can make away of his terrible managing.

Walking up to Trader Sams at night is an experience in itself. The Polynesian Tiki torches marking the building transport you to the South Pacific. They must also pump in the smell from the South Pacific inside the bar. To make the olfactory senses go crazy. We shared the Wagyu Hawaiian Cheeseburger along with the Uh-Oa! & Zombie drinks. All provided the trifecta of flavors to keep those sensors running. Get reservations for the bar. Walk-ins are told hour(s) to wait for indoor seating at the bar. Patio is 30+ mins wait. Go to Disneyland without going to Disneyland. A must stop for any lover of things Tiki.

Grab a stool at the bar, order pupu platter, a mai tai, and let your tired Disneyland footsies relax to live Hawaiian music combo. Tiki torches complete the relaxing vibe. Kid-friendliness: Its a bar, adults only

We waited an hour for a table but that gave us a chance to walk around and check out the other restaurants. We ordered the pork gyoza, fried string beans in Pablo (though they looked and tasted like ordinary bread crumbs and 3 poke bowls either Ahi tuna that were exceptionally good. Mom ordered the baby back ribs and was very disappointed that the ribs and sauce were cold and too too salty so she ordered another dish- the ramen - which was sufficient. Fun atmosphere! Great wait staff, worth a visit for sure.

Felt it s overrated in terms of atmosphere, food and drinks. Food s just ok, pretty sure their version of Mai Tai isn t right, at least if you re ordering from the version not in their souvenir mug, it s highly diluted. (With the mug it s $41, without is $18.) Inside smelled bad, tables were sticky, service is the same as a dive bar. Staff at the bar once in a while cheers to the erupting volcano (aka video of it on screens), after a few rounds, it gets a bit tiring. It was very hard to get a reservation and when we finally did, it was actually quite empty during peak dinner hour, unsure how their reservation system work. Be sure you have a photo ID with you if you want to be seated inside during dinner hours. The staff at the door made a big deal of it with my parents, we had to go back and get them, once back, the same staff at the door didn t even bother to look at them, (clearly my parents looked over 21 the first time and the second time around?). Pretty ridiculous, at least spend some time to look at them if you insisted on checking.

Super weird experience. It was dead at trader Sam s which is unusual so we sat at the bar inside. The bartender didn t speak to us that much that was weird. We ordered green beans and gyoza it was cold so we politely told her after we got her attention. They just dropped the beans back into the fryer so we had a basket of burnt beans lol we felt bad telling her they were cold so we didn t want to tell her that it was burnt. And when I say burnt I mean to a crisp. We are everything because we were super hungry. I got the Hawaiian platter and they put so much sauce on the shirt ribs it was so salty. I scrapped a lot of it off. But I didn t want to say anything because she was hard to talk to and by the time she came back to our bar side it was at least 15 minutes. So we are out food paid for our burnt food, left a nice tip and left. It was weird. lol we will come back but damn what an experience it was.

In classic Disney fashion, you will pay through the nose for your eats here.... But, they have great food, delicious drinks and the atmosphere is fantastic! Drop by and grab a Dole Whip float and sit back and partake in some island vibes... Located in the courtyard of the famous Disneyland Hotel, it is surrounded by their 2 pools and engulfed in lush landscaping and tiki vibes for days.

Food was pretty good, standard issue park/hotel food but no complaints. Had a couple vegetarian/vegan options! The best part is just the atmosphere and drinks, the piranha pool is the best one in my opinion, we also got the hippopotomai-tai but it wasnt as impressive. Vegetarian options: They had an impossible burger which is the standard vegetarian option for most Disney restaurants. Also could get a bowl dish with tofu

In comparison to its Floridian cousin it is a shadow. The bartender spent most of the 3 hours we were there, talking to his friends and giving them freebies, my wife and I ordered multiple drinks and all with the special cups and we got no special effects, however every time the bartenders friends order a drink they got one. Very unfortunate for new customers

Food was alright. Fries tasted undercooked and burger was well done. No one told us they were out of the souvenir cups until after we received our drink, that was a bummer. Only saw server twice, when we ordered our food and when we paid the bill. Would have been nice for him to check on our table to refill our drinks once. Overall place is beautiful but because of the service we will not be coming back.

This place is worth the hype! And if you want to sit inside you have to make a reservation through the Disneyland App. I did it 60 days in advance and had to try a couple of days before securing the reservation. I got the Piranha pool drink which was really good. My husband and I both had the Wagyu Hawaiian burger and it was delicious! I would say service could have been a little quicker but understanding it was busy so it is expected. Certain drinks will make the restaurant change, try ordering the Uh-Oa! (Its big enough to share)

Otherwise, awesome chill spot to get your tiki on!

Trader Sam s is about as good as it gets when it comes to bars at Disney. But wait for a table inside. You will be disappointed if you sit outside. We have been there about 10 times and the wait is never as long as they tell you. They base the wait on the 90 minute table limit. When it comes to tiki bars in the area, Trader Sam s is not on the same level as Strongwater when it comes to drinks. But when it comes to theming Disney hit a home run. Definitely more family friendly that its peers, it s still a must visit if you are looking for So Cal tiki bars.
