If your LIFE feels like a fantasy, well, you’re in the right place.

REQUIEM CAFE is a magical fantasy themed coffee shop based in Anaheim, CA. They cater tabletop gaming, fandom, coffee, tea and fantasy. Its interior is dim lit with neon sign and decorated with magical world of fantasy. A great place to chill, relax and escape the reality. :D

Coffee menu was modest. They have unique coffee names and mixtures. I had a hot Masked Tuxedo, a black and white mocha with a hint of rose. It was bloody good and gave me a cloud nine legend of zelda experience. lol.

Service was on point. And Staff were cordial and competent. Prices were competitive and fair. No Cash accepted. Parking lots are available; no public street parking. Overall, it’s a nice fantasy coffee shop and I had a very satisfactory experience. I recommend it.

The staff seems very cliquey and talked poorly about another employee. The drinks are overpriced for how overly sweet they are. The food was soggy and underwhelming. And their merch is stuff you can find elsewhere for 20+$cheaper. In my opinion, just get the items from the main manufacturer.

The tree is cool, but I felt something sticky in the cushions when I sat in the bottom section.

After my experience there, I decided to researching some reviews and posts about this place and I also saw that there was a lot of issues with the owner and the employees. I definitely don't recommend this place.

Requiem Cafe has been a pillar of the Anaheim community for years, and an upstanding refuge for anyone seeking a place to be where they can feel safe and welcomed. The drinks are always very well made, the food is delicious, and the prices have remained accessible. They also provide a great variety of vegan options as well. I've never had trouble finding parking, and they validate for the nearby parking structure, which is awesome! The whole cafe is beautifully designed and maintained. It's clear that an enormous amount of care, attentiveness, and vision went into making a place as special as this. I was having a hard time with the election, and Requiem made itself available to everyone who just needed a place to go and feel supported. I am extremely grateful to the management who made this kind of support accessible to me and others like me in a very challenging time. I've seen some negative reviews from some disgruntled people trying to throw shade, and it honestly makes me sad. I've been extended enormous kindness at Requiem, and I look forward to coming around for years more. Thank you for making a space where I can feel safe enough to be myself and be celebrated!

While the atmosphere of Requiem is unique; it's unfortunately the only positive I can take away from this once nice cafe. I used to frequent this cafe over the years, but can no longer be a patron there in good conscience. Drinks have diminished in quality, reduced to overly sugary confections that don't particularly resemble coffee or tea anymore; all while charging a premium. Money I would happily spend at any of Anaheim's other great coffee places.

Additionally, mistreatment of workers, for me, is a line that I draw when it comes to whether or not an establishment has earned my business. Multiple unfair labor practices both past and present is enough of a reason for me to take my business elsewhere.

This is such a cute spot for fantasy and pop culture lovers! The ambiance is fun and relaxing, there are lots of areas to chill and hang out all with different vibes! The drinks are super fun and change out for special events and collabs, the food is delicious, and the staff are always kind and helpful. A perfect spot for your dnd group, trading card matches, lan parties, or just to grab a yummy drink!

If you’re looking for their most recent menus and hours, check the actual website and instagram- google doesn’t allow the owner/staff to make updates, so it may not be accurate! Also pro tip is to arrive before 8:30pm because they sometimes stop serving food, coffee, and hot drinks at that time. There is also helpful information on their instagram and discord as well as the physical calendar in the cafe for events. Requiem is a beautiful and inclusive cafe with fun themed drinks and treats. There’s movie nights every Tuesday and Karaoke nights every Wednesday along with lots of other activities and ways to bond with LGBTQ+ and nerdy communities. I always feel safe and supported working, cosplaying and expressing myself here. Any negative reviews about poor management and the owner are clearly left with ill intent and are not at all reflective of the safe and inclusive environment Requiem upholds. Workers are given so many opportunities to succeed, grow, and communicate. This is a small business operated in one location owned by one person who built it specifically to be a safe space. Any misunderstandings I’ve had has been cleared up with communication. I’ve made so many friends with staff and customers and truly want the best for everyone here.

This place is a great safe space for the community, I’m a regular here and they’ve somehow glowed up even more since Undertale, the drinks are delicious and the staff members are always accommodating to allergies and if you want changes to your drink. The owner has such a positive focus on providing space for the LGBTQ+ community and planning events that get people excited to be a part of something bigger. It’s such an accomplishment as a small locally run business and it’s a place that makes me happy every time I go

Their Potions are refreshing, too. I've never tried the food, but the waffles always look good! If you want a fun place to get coffee, this is a great spot.

We Were just walking by on the street and got intrigued by the subtle decorations outside and since we had some free time we decided to check this place out. The inside was like nothing I've ever seen, with Anime on TV, somebody playing a game on another TV, and a handful of people playing either board games or gaming on laptops.
The drink we had was delicious, and had pop rocks for some added fun.
10/10would recommend this place!

There were lots of people hanging out and enjoying the vibes. The staff were meh, but the atmosphere and the collabs make up for it. The back room has a store with lots of cool anime things and have lots of customer doodles on the walls and they have games and thing you can do here.

This a great place to enjoy coffee - the seating areas are amazing and the atmosphere is so cool! The only thing that wasn't so great was the absence of regular snacks and pastries. The limited, themed menu had only a few options, and most of those were too expensive or too much to eat.

It's a pretty cool place for what it's supposed to be. It has a nice ambiance, it's a good place for the alt kids to hang out. They have board game tables and people playing D&D. My only complaints are with the drinks we had, they tasted thin, and flat, considering the price. Oh and it smelled like spoiled corn milk lol. But maybe it was just a bad night lol.

I went to the Omori event and it was pretty disappointing.
Drinks looked nothing like the photos, I had the Basil themed drink and it tasted super watered down. Merch/coasters was all gone and there was no restock, wish this was something communicated through website.
The person outside reading the rules was kind and I really enjoyed taking pictures inside. Other than that, the wait was not worth it.

I came for the omori cafe collab. The line was crazy to get in, but it wasn't a big deal since they posted that there will be huge lines. The drinks didn't look close to what was on the pictures, usually themed cafés try and make the food as pretty as possible because that is part of the experience but I'm sure they were overwhelmed by so many people I came much earlier and there was over 100 people in front of me. The memento mari drink didn't have the cookie on top and was heavily dripping. Tried to get napkins but I had to go into the bathroom to get them. The pictures on the website makes the place look larger than it really is. It is really small. They posted that there will be exclusive merchandise and on their Instagram they say how everything is first come first served if they run out they run out for good, an employee even was yelling to buy the merch since that is all they got. I know myself included tried to go the first day to try and get the exclusive merchandise before it sold out, it was just a shirt and tote bag BUT THEN they post how more exclusive merch will drop during the month. I know I heard people complaining about it since they were only able to come in for the first day. I do not see myself wanting to come back.

This fantasy wonderland isn’t fully captured in the reviews. The café features anime and gamer-themed decor, including a tree to sit in and read, statues resembling game pieces, and a shop. They host game nights on Mondays and Fridays, and karaoke on Wednesdays. With original teas and lattes, waffles, and a vending machine stocked with gamer memorabilia, it’s a truly fun and unique place.

Long story short it’s about the atmosphere, if you want good drinks and treats this isn’t it. We went on a Monday at 5pm for the homestuck experience and it was empty which was amazing. We had tried to come before for the undertale event and the line was wrapped around the block, so if you’re going for the vibe definitely go on a weekday. The food and drinks aren’t worth ordering, overpriced and missing ingredients. We got the homestuck themed ice cream which was supposed to have a bunch of candy on it but it was just the ice cream and waffles. I didn’t throw up rainbows unfortunately. Our drinks were really watered down, the descriptions sounded good but all of our drinks were bland like they didn’t put the right amount of syrup or something. It was slow and there were plenty of people working. There’s also an incredibly limited menu so don’t go expecting food. Other than that there’s not much to say. We expected more of an event atmosphere, with activities and things to do, but it was nearing the end of the two week long event and there wasn’t really anything there, but I’m not sure if it was like that normally or not.

W.T.F. (What The Fantasy)!!! The inside was totes different from what we expected-from the neon lights to the mythical forest area, we were transported into a different reality. We found fascination in every part of the cafe, such as the potion shelf with the eclectic selection of manga, illuminating mural wall, and a whimsical flower bench. The throne called to us as the true alpha wolves in us felt great immense power radiating upon sitting on it.

Other than being visually pleasing, the forest area also served as a cozy, immersive chilling area. As we laid inside the den(s) we felt like little pixel characters in a game like MapleStory. There's also a tv lounge area and item shop for more entertainment.

We browsed the menu and were compelled to buy the Monokuma ice cream, Health Potion, and a S'more Coffee. Upon receiving the delectables, we wolved that shi downnnn x3 yum

After devouring our snacks, we took our wolfly rest and read up on our lores (vampire mangas). Jacob approved of this message. #TeamUnserious

Exactly what it says on the tin, this is a caffe for people who care about atmosphere above everything else!

The food was all right. I appreciate a menu focused on both sweet and savory pancakes. I got the Kupo Caprise, it was a bit cold but we got there as soon as they opened so I'll give them some slack.

Also worth mentioning that they don't open until 12. Not really a fan of that, I'm a morning person and this is a caffe so I figured it would be open at least for brunch time. But based on their aesthetic, this is a caffe mainly used to meet people you've only met online and in fandom spaces which notoriously have a lot of nightcrawlers so I understand the decision.

and of course I have to mention their special events! I also went during the Undertale event and it was magical! I went with a bunch of folks and we shared all the drinks, each one was really good!

I also have to compliment the merch, a lot of "fandom" stores these days tend to just kind of fill their shelves with whatever is most popular, but I was happy to see a lot of stickers from local artists and a thoughtful mix of official merch.

Both times i went staff were very friendly. I wish I had gone at a better time since it was pretty empty when they first opened for the day.

Hi!

I went to Requiem a year ago. I have a severe dairy allergy and I requested the vegan grilled cheese. The cashier I spoke with was a bit dismissive and went to the back to ask if they still had vegan cheese. I couldn't see what the other person said, but they rang me up for the sandwich.

It's been so long now i don't remember exactly what the cashier said, but I remember they were dismissive and a bit condescending. I recieved my food, which was alright, but after finishing it, my stomach began to hurt and I began experiencing allergy symptoms and had to leave soon after.

My stomach hurt for the rest of the day, following into the next day. I submitted a claim online and they said said this:

"Thank you for contacting Requiem Cafe! On behalf of Requiem we apologize deeply for this situation that occurred for you. I myself have -severe- deadly allergies to several foods that could require hospitalization if contact is made; so I fully understand your situation on sensitvities. Given the context of this issue I will bring this up to our owner immediately as staff are to confirm ingredients with confidence concerning these types of questions. It is important customers feel safe and informed on their order with us. I appreciate you reaching out to us and will get this issue resolved asap. We pride ourselves in everyone having a positive experience at Requiem and want you to visit us again! We will contact you again shortly."

I followed up two months later after no response. Then again in October, January and February. Normally, I would let it go, but it's the fact that I have such a severe allergy and the person who responded to me shared that and I have received no follow up.

I heard about the Requiem Cafe via TikTok. I always thought the establishment would be phenomenal, but that wasn't the case. Upon stepping through the door, I nearly slipped due to the water from the rain coating the bottom part of the entrance. The aesthetic of the place appears more enticing online, but it really is mediocre. And the tables were covered in smudge hand prints which makes it appear that the place isn't as clean as others claim it to be. Furthermore, I was highly disappointed due to the fact that I traveled a great distance just to find out at Reqium Cafe that they don't accept cash only card (the website and Instagram don't mention that) which sucks because I really wanted to get The Owl House merch that was available.

On a side note, I would like to mention that I tried the Titan's Blood drink and it had more ice than anything. The flavor itself was very bland.

Nice and decorative themed place. RPG/final fantasy-esqe menu themed.

Has a nice "item shop" next door.

Sadly, not a big fan of the "vegan" but more power to them. Hopefully something for meat eaters but more I saw non vegan items.

Also, need to put up signs for the bathrooms but thankfully unisex.

Just saying, this is for everyone but just becareful of the trans or "pronoun" posse being there.

Amazing interior decorating. Makes you feel like you're walking into a fantastical dream with a hole in the tree to sit and relax, a DnD table, couches and all around cute food & drinks with an "Item Shop" for your plushy or anime needs.

We did not purchase any food or drink, but checked out the little shop attached and admired the decor. Very unique setup. The shop's selection was very small but they had some tables to play board games they provided, which I thought was cool.

Not too good. Overhyped. Not too many options to choose from and the drinks were not like the descriptions said.

Also I'll let you interpret the meaning of this drink "Jose's Good Job." A simplistic lemon flavored bubbly drink.

Been here for a couple of themed events and it's cool. Moody cybergoth/fantasy club-like atmosphere except everyone's chilling out, there's a kitchen and adjoining merch store. Fantasy themed decor and, the times I was there, themed life-size standees for photo opportunities.

I would love to give a great review. But everytime I have come here, the doors are locked during “working hours” and I see the employees inside staring or laughing. I’m sorry I wasn’t aware of some event happening because there’s no signage outside And nobody is kind enough to say anything to anyone trying to come in.

Service is fantastic and environment is fun, but too bad the owner, Kristopher Irons, would retaliate against employees trying to create a union by firing them and closing down the shop for a week in an attempt to union bust. I will only support this business if the employees are given their right to unionize for fair wages and a HARASSMENT-FREE ENVIRONMENT.

Went here for my besties bday (after wanting to go for ages), and it was the best! The staff was so helpful, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure our first visit was great. Our dessert was even made extra special. Will definitely be going back soon! Also, decor was top tier. 👌🏽

Requiem seemed like a small little concept I encountered in 2015-2016. They uploaded sketches and thought processes in Facebook and although I felt like it wouldn’t happen, I gladly stood corrected.

Food and drinks are super yummy. So yummy that they pushed me through my student teaching years at CSUF. I must’ve gone over more than 10 times. I would drive over, order an egg salad sandwich and cocktail, and start working through reports. Comfort was provided immediately, not a single thing seemed out of place. Seeing them continue to succeed in providing those qualities to others, I couldn’t help but feel proud for the team behind the the greatness of this place. If they have one fault, it’s that they care so much.

Please do not treat this place as a tourist trap, a restaurant or simple cafe; it’s a home for many who have felt like they don’t have a place anywhere else. Please treat it with kindness and understanding. It’s not just for you, it’s for everyone.

this is honestly one of the absolute best cafés I’ve ever been to. I came here first when they were doing their Crunchyroll X café event. And I enjoyed it so much!!!! the overall atmosphere of the entire café is kind of like stepping into a fantasy building. There is even a Tree you could sit into!!!! not to mention the Murch they have in their store is so much fun!! and oh my God I have never met such a nice staff in my life! So overall, the food is amazing, especially the waffles!, The service was so cool and we really really enjoyed just the overall atmosphere of the café! me and my family are going to come here as often as we possibly can!!! thank you so much to the people who manage this café! You guys are absolutely amazing!!
