Zankou Chicken

First time trying zankou chicken recommended by my sister's boss who's Lebanese. Chicken is flavorful and seasoned well, the sides included pita, hummus, mutabbal, garlic spread, some type of pink radish, cucumber salad a d tabouleh.

My favorite was the muttabbal and tabouleh although all of them were tasty. Family meal is the way to go but intrigued to try their other plates.

Their baklava is a true delight. Must get after your meal.

The roasted chicken is amazingly tasty. The staff are friendly and FAST. We like to specifically acknowledge Manny P. for her OUTSTANDING services. Manny was very attentive and made our dining experience enjoyable. Manny went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Her service was top-notch! We were very impressed with her professionalism and kindness. She answered nearly TEN questions with delightful attitude. We felt she was one of the owners.

Our appreciation for a job VERY well done.

I stumble on this place after looking for a different shop. I came in because I love sharwarma so I ordered the tri tip sharwarma. It was delicious and the hummus was so fresh. The shop could use an update but I was there for the food.

Has a high-school lunch table vibe, but the food is great. Chicken is so tender and juicy. Tambouli and cucumber salad we got were both great. Pita is on the drier side (not very fresh) but otherwise, everything else tasted great. It's definitely worth the price of the food. Garlic paste tasted so good.

I’ve been going to Zankou Chicken for over 30 years starting with the Glendale restaurant. I’ve been to the Anaheim restaurant since it opened. Today I ordered to go, two half chicken plates per usual for my wife and I. EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS! The chicken was moist and flavorful. And the garlic sauce is the best as always. Zankou Chicken never disappoints!

Iconic California eatery, saw on Food Network Best Garlic Dishes. Their rotisserie chicken is incredible, moist and crispy, fall off the bone tender. However, the star of the show is the Garlic sauce, absolutely delicious but be forewarned this is Garlic on steroids. Side salad is really good, as well as the hummus, pita bread was not great though.

Zankou's food and service is always great, but this Anaheim location is very run down. Old and outdated. It needs to be modernized a bit just like their new locations, like Huntington beach. You don't want to eat there, for taking out is ok.

I loved Zankou in LA and I appreciate them in Anaheim. Great Middle Eastern "fast food" that Arabs, Israelis, Aramaeans/Assyrians, Middle Eastern Armenians and even Persians can appreciate. There are even vegetarian options for people like me.

Have been going to Zankou for the past 30 years! I told anyone and everyone to go and try the Chicken, its the same chicken they serve in heaven. BUT the last 2 years sadly the taste have changed. I feel that a friend died that I have known since childhood! Why would you try to fix something that is not broken! I’m sure I’m not the only one is thinking this. Bring back the original Zanku Chicken!

An extra treat today was asking the family which take-out....unanimous Zankou.

Now here comes the best part....my order was taken by Lucia.
I wanted 2 family meals..she mentioned I could save 5 dollars by purchasing the other deal. Wow! now I have 5 extra dollars to spend and got my grandson a large shawerma instead of small.

The sides are amazing. The garlic spread is out of this world. The rice and hummus are okay, but I wouldn't call them the best I've had. The main dish the chicken is but or miss. Someday, you get a juicy seasoned chicken, or you get a chicken fast, has no flavor, and taste not good. It'd be a bit of a gamble. Thr parking is okay depending when yku go ig you go during bust time you may be forced to walk far or wait to see if you find a spot to open up.. the atmosphere is fast food vibes. Because it's loud and has 5 of people I tend to take Mt food food Togo.

I hope the owner see this. I used to go to this several years ago and it has changed a lot with rude workers. I was in that area and decided to drop by and get something . I ordered the falafel plate and asked the cashier how many garlic paste do you get in that and she said two so I paid for one more 50c each. When my order was ready and I got the food and there was only 2 garlic paste so I asked the girl on the counter (she is not the cashier who took my order) if there is 3 garlic paste. She grabs the paste from somewhere and just throws it inside my bag while I'm still talking to her. Even though she was very RUDE I still thanked her and her attitude was giving me a stuck up face with her chin up and looking away like she is too good to say welcome . Does she pay for garlic paste out of her pocket? Idk how these ppl get jobs working in customer service. Why is she working there? If she hates working around customers then leave. I don't ever leave comments in here but this girl should be fired. She has a nerve to treat customer who paid for an item and was not even asking for free. I really hope the owner get rid of her and her stinking attitude.

To answer the question sorry i do not know the name of that girl. But it was not a cashier girl it was another girl on the counter.

What's not to like about Zankou. I'm a meat lover so any place that serves meat in any respectable form gets my attention. Zankou's shawarma is one of the best. It's great. I don't usually go for chicken shawarma as I consider it an imposter on the original meat shawarma. I grew up traveling the middle east so I'm very versed in the different ethnicities of shawarma and how each country does it with it's own almost magical touch. One the stuck with me for decades is the one I had in the mountains of Lebanon more than half a century ago. The Armenian marination is unmistakable. The garnish is so unique that many chefs can't wrap their heads around it and flop it even after I give it to them in great detail. It basically includes Tahini, tomatoes, pickles, loads of fresh mint , and of course the meat shawarma. One bite will take you to another realm. Thank you Jerome for all your kind help

They have multiple locations, but this feels more like home as it's the first one I tried many years ago. They have opened several locations across LA.

One of the best places to get Shawarma. I prefer their chicken shawarma. The beef is good too but it's just my preference. Their rotisserie chicken is bomb. Garlic sauce is amazing.
Very friendly service.
Plenty of free self parking in this plaza.

The food we bought were delicious and we were satisfied. I just have a comment about your cashiers and your manager. When we walked in, we expect that we will be instructed on what to do. I made a big order 5 days prior. We were expecting that when get there, they will tell us that the order is ready and we can pay for the order. However, your cashier just ignores our presence and didn’t say anything. So, we waited for 30 minutes just standing in-front of them, totally ignored by your cashiers. We walked in 15 minutes early before the time of pick up. So we thought they were simply finishing up the order. After 30 minutes of being ignored, we approached the cashier and demanded for our order, the lady, maybe the manager argued with me that she thought we were being helped by someone. I was dumbfounded because they ignored us throughout the time. We were literally right in front of them and they were avoiding eye contact. How could she think that we were being helped by these cashiers? I was just shocked by her reasoning. The manager and your cashiers have attitude problem. They need to learn how to communicate with their customers. Don’t just ignore us when we’re in front of you. I just want to share my observations and disappointment with their service. It happened July 3 Wednesday at 11 am.

The good old days of Zankou are way gone..when the food was tasty and you get fresh bread not 2 or 3 days old falling apart pita..the staff used to understand the food and culture not just making you something that is starting to look like something else, the taste is another issue for show on TV. When it's not burned and charcoal like pieces of meat or chicken shawerma, it is old and not juicy, discolored, and smelly most of the time.
What happened with you guys, is this change a planned change from the Zankou company or just the way things got to on the way. I get disappointed everything I go for the last 4 or 5 times and that's enough.

Cashier was racist, I checked in and it wasnt ready, when it was ready he never called me up, I told him my last name and he laughed, because I have light skin he thinks I cant have a Spanish last name? He was wearing some kind of beanie under his hat, very short, food was still good and they got the order correct. Ordering in app ahead of time is to save time, not waste it.

Zankou is always a safe bet when you have no plan but feel like a taste of Armenian / Mediterranean fast food. The rotisserie chicken is the name staple here due to its herbal seasoning. However, I am not a fan of rotisserie chicken due to personal reasons. I come here for beef shawarma. The chicken shawarma here is too healthy and that is unfortunately not good for taste buds. Yes, shawarma needs some fat for the seasonings to stick. I tried the koftah kebab here and it tastes OK but not how I am used to it. You might find them great. Falafel here is always a safe bet for vegetarians. Zankou cooking everything in front of your eyes with pride and I respect that a lot. Used to come to various locations since they have had ONE only in Hollywood in 1988. It’s a family owned business but it looks and feels more like a corporate franchise today.

This locations has the best customer service folks from any other Zankou I have been too. The location has alot of traffic and you can tell by the way it looks. Staff is quick to clean up after people vacate a table, it's not the most appealing place to be at but they make up for it with their fast and friendly service.

I didn't know what to get..I allowed the cashier to recommend one of her favorites and I got it... Delicious 😋 I should have got water to drink with it. She did ask if I wanted their lemonade (I'll try next time) but instead I got the hibiscus tea...which was probably more healthy than tasty...

I used to dine in but more delivery and take out these days. Garlic sauce is amazing. Rotisserie chicken is always on point. Tarna chicken is delicious. Tri tip can be a little tough but still good. Lule kabob is pretty good, just over priced. Their rice is always properly prepared, never undercooked, always soft. Hummus is good. Falafel is crispy on the outside and soft inside. Zankou Chicken is highly recommended.

I love coming to Zankou! I always order 2 skewers of shish kabob and hummus. Taste great! Garlic sauce is amazing. Avoid the salad, its not my favorite here. Rotisserie chicken is tasty and juicy! I would only recommend adding salt to your rice so everything could be savory and perfect. I highly recommend Zankou Chicken!

I've recently started my new employment by this Location. Alwayz the best food. Shawarma is great there whole chicken is Great. But above all the good food and nice portion btw. Staff is the best part of the experience Mario The cook Ashley and Chalsey the cashier aswell as Tania , Baldemar Max Christian and Idair are the Best! I come here maybe 4 days a week and they never fail. Great service Great food Best portion for the Authenticity as well as the price. If your in Anaheim. Trust me this place will Not Disappoint. Ta—- and some others has no work ethic. And doesn’t give importance on pick up orders. When I get there, she is snobbish and not say a word though she sees me and know I’m picking up order she ignores me. So I asked her and show her my phone for the order coz she’s doing nothing and just waiting for the customer to order, she just said I have to wait for a moment, though she’s doing nothing and orders are stocked beside her to just looked and grab.
