Inside this plush Golden Age movie palace, sophisticated cuisine and retro cocktails have top billing.
Make sure to make a reservation to avoid long wait. This is a beautiful sit-down place, and it's very helpful after a long day of walking. The food is good, a little bland but a great experience. We sat at the Buena Vista room. It's like a VIP section. it's a very nice and quiet and amazing service. I would come here again.

During a visit to California Adventure Park, I had the pleasure of dining at one of the restaurants, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! The restaurant is super clean and has a very elegant atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal.
The service was excellent—attentive and friendly throughout our visit, ensuring we had everything we needed. The food was equally delicious, with every dish we tried exceeding our expectations. The drinks were fantastic as well, perfectly complementing the meal.
Overall, it was an awesome experience dining here, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting California Adventure Park!

Phenomenal food, exquisite service, and a captivating atmosphere. Carthay Circle is well worth the extra expense if you're looking for an amazing dining experience at Disney California Adventure. We had early lunchtime reservations. (11:10 a.m.) The restaurant was not crowded at all, which was very refreshing on one of the busiest days of the year at the park. The lunch menu is prix-fixe at $59 a person and comes with two courses. Most cocktails are around $20-25. Expect to pay around $100 per person here. I had the Harvest Squash Bisque and the Tri Tip. Both were absolutely delicious. However, I did not love the Soba noodles that were served with the steak. Our server, named Mitch, was very knowledgeable of the menu, prompt, and had a good sense of humor. We usually don't spend this much on one meal at Disney, but I would gladly do it again. Highly recommended.

Best restaurant in all of the park for a higher-class dining experience. Reservations are regularly required to be able to be seated and eat here. The service was amazing!! There was a waiter that came back to our table probably every 5-7 minutes. I recommend this place if you are looking to have dinner of celebration or for a date night away from the park's chaos. I ordered a "Twin Bill" as a drink which was practically an Arnold palmer(lemonade and ice tea), warm cheddar Parker House Rolls which were delicious and buttery even with the additional butter it is served with, Spanish Yukon Potato Croquettes that were really unique but delicious, and Grilled Beef Filet Mignon for a main course. The Filet Mignon is a must try, it was presented on top of very mild green chiles, yellow cherry tomatoes, chimichurri sauce and with black berries giving it a savory sweet flavor.

Our meal was a culinary journey, with each dish expertly crafted and presented. The Peruvian Sashimi and Squash Blossom Filled With Braised Short Rib starters were bursting with flavor and freshness. The sashimi was incredibly tender, and the short rib filling was rich and indulgent.
For our main courses, the Pan Roasted U-8 Scallops were cooked to perfection, with a delightful crispy exterior and tender interior. The Grilled Certified Angus Rib Eye was cooked to our liking, with a beautiful char and served with a rich demiglace.
But the pièce de résistance was the Valrhona Chocolate S’mores Bar - a decadent and creative twist on a classic dessert. The combination of textures and flavors was pure heaven!

I loved the old timey Hollywood feel of this restaurant. It is on the higher end in terms of dinning experience, and the kid options are limited. Nevertheless, the food was outstanding. You will not regret getting an old fashioned soda like a Roy Rodgers or a Shirley Temple. The pork chop is huge and exquisitely cooked. I will always have a special place in my heart for this must try gastronomy experience in California Adventure.

I know people rave about this place, but we had a very disappointing experience here. The service was IMPECCABLE and amazing, but the seafood pasta was gross (pasta was terrible). The fish was good, however, the rest of the meal was just mediocre. I also HATE paying for bread, which drives me nuts, and the sauce it came with wasn't worth the money (very spicy - we had to request regular butter). The ambience is lacking - I expect lots of kids with Disney (as we had our own kid there), but it was just above a buffet experience. You DO need reservations to be safe, as the line was very long (we had one). Overall, just MEH and would recommend going off Disney for a better, less expensive meal.

We have frequented this restaurant since they first opened. We love coming here. Tonight we started off with a bottle of Pinot Noir from Skywalker Ranch. We ordered their house bread. For our entrees I ordered the Signature Thick Cut Pork Chop and Jovita had Roasted Rocky’s Free Range Chicken. Both were delicious and well prepared. For dessert, I had the Strawberry Sorbet and Jovita had the Hazelnut Crunch Mickey Pop. We always leave happy and full.

Service was excellent! Prime rib was cold and bland. Sustainable fish was about 2” x 2” x .5” and served with tiny little squash or zucchini skin pieces, not the inside of the vegetable. They looked like chives, they were so small. The dish was resting on a spicy runny liquid and the fish was dry and overcooked. The pork chop was delicious but the stuffing was cold and there was only about 2 tablespoons of it. The room we were seated in was closed in and there were screaming children. Other parts of the restaurant were beautiful.

I can’t recommend the Prime Rib, it was the worst attempt I’ve ever eaten. I ate there not long ago and the Ribeye Steak was incredible.
Tonight, the prime rib was chewy and had a long line of tendon running through the center of the cut. Only the outside edge was edible.
Everything else was fantasti, just don’t get the $70 prime rib, complete ripoff.

I can deal with high prices but for a place this nice community seating should be banned!!!! Sitting next to strangers is the absolute worst!!!!
Seriously, 20th wedding anniversary and we couldn't even speak to each other without the neighboring table that was less than 2ft away listening in on our conversation and vice versa. Good food, terrible table layout.

We had a party of 9 people and had made reservations months ahead. When we arrived for our 7:00 pm dinner reservation, we waited a few minutes then were escorted to the 2nd level and then, surprisingly, out the door. We proceeded along the balcony seating area to the very end - in October (freezing!) - in the dark (you could not even see the menu!). When I asked if we could be seated inside, the (very rude) hostess said there was no room inside and this was the only table available. She then left. When the waiter arrived (with little lanterns that were placed on the table to try to add some illumination), I explained that the seating was unacceptable and I would like to speak with the manager or we would leave. The manager finally appeared, and stated they were preparing a table for us inside the restaurant. We were escorted to our new table and ordered.
The food was disappointing. I ordered their "Signature Thick Cut Pork Chop" ($52) and, although it was tasty, it was tough and I had to cut it into extremely thin strips just to eat it. My wife ordered the "Garganelli Pasta with Mexican White Shrimp" ($58) that was supposed to have bay scallops and cockles. One of the cockles was simply the shell - nothing in it - and she could not find a single scallop. Also, the dish was so spicy, she stopped eating after a few forkfuls. The waiter appeared and she explained that her food was inedible. He offered to let her orderr a different meal and she asked for the "Miso Glazed Sautéed Fish of the Day" ($50). By the time her new meal arrived, the rest of us were through eating and we sat there waiting for her to finish. Our bill was over $500. I would not recommend Carthay Circle Restaurant and we'll never go there again.

Didn’t even try the food. We made reservations and had been looking forward to going for 8 months. Al Fresco dining was closed when we checked in which is what we requested but they didn’t tell us when we checked in. They sat us at a table that hit our knees when we sat down. When we asked why we weren’t sitting outside they said “It’s closed,” which is fine but at least tell us when we check in at the front. We politely asked if we could move tables as we weren’t really comfortable, and would have to hunch over the table completely to eat anything or place the plates in our laps to have it close enough. The waitress then just walks around the restaurant angrily and glaring at us from across the room while very obviously talking about us to the other waiter. We left. Horribly disappointing.

My wife and I used to regard this as the best restaurant in either park, but last time we were here we were a tad underwhelmed. The new bread doesn't hold a candle to the old biscuits they used to have (Disney, BRING THEM BACK), and while most of the food we ordered was certainly good, nothing exactly wow-ed us like on previous trips, and some items (like the brussels sprouts) were just downright kinda bad, with an overpowering taste of burnt sesame oil and a less-than-stellar texture.
Still the best place in Disneyland to get a cocktail, though. We may just limit our future trips to only the lounge until we find that the food's improved.

I can see from the recent reviews that I am not the only one that has been disappointed with the experience. We had a reservation, party of 5 - all adults. When we arrived, we were asked to take a seat. After 20m of waiting, some of our party wanted a beverage - didn't have to be a cocktail but we're on vacation. Some of our party went to the bar inside the restaurant and were told that you "could only go to the bar with a reservation". I found that hard to believe since the bar was mostly empty (maybe 4 tables and 1 person at the bar), so I asked if we could go to the bar. Was given the same response - bad customer service. I asked if we could be a "walk in" and was told that we could only have a reservation at the restaurant OR the bar. OMG! what is up? So we took a seat and waited for the very cold and superior staff to find time to seat us. The hostess even asked the host, Sergio (I think this is his name. looks a lot like a younger Peter Dinklage), if we could wait at the bar since it was mostly empty and was told No. The host staff, lead by Sergio, had quite a laugh and made snide remarks over how "some people just can't take no for an answer" - yes, part of our group was right in front of you and shame on you. How dare us want to have a drink - water would have been ok too but did you ask, no - while we waited for our table. He finally allowed us the pleasure of his time to take us to our table.
The server wasn't very warm at first but did finally lighten up after finding out that we weren't devils.
The highlight of our meal was the very friendly and efficient server that wasn't even ours. I believe her name was Lieka (or something like that). she was amazing! Our server kept getting lost and she brought us water refills and took better care of us than he did. Thank you
Overall, I wouldn't waste your money. the food was ok. not spectacular. the wine was ok. I wish I could give a rating on the cocktails but we were over that by the time we were finally sat.

Pasta tomatoes 🍅. Terrible. No taste
Filet mignon with beans. The meat and beans cold and taste like old - beans from a can.
The 🐀 plate for 18.00. Omg I can really cook vegetables better at home. For 5 pcs of zucchini and tomatoes salsa.
I was so excited to eat there 😩, but disappointed..
They need to work in the menu. I don't understand how it has a 4 start 😕 restaurant. Probably just for the alcohol drinks.

Nestled within the enchanting realm of Disney's California Adventure lies a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience: Carthay Circle Restaurant. From the moment you step through its doors, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of elegance and intimacy, perfectly suited for any occasion, whether a special celebration or a leisurely afternoon indulgence.
The restaurant's ambiance exudes sophistication, adorned with tasteful decor and subdued lighting that sets the stage for an exceptional meal. Seating arrangements are thoughtful, offering a sense of privacy amidst the lively surroundings of the park.
What truly sets this establishment apart, however, is its impeccable service. The servers embody professionalism with a genuine warmth that makes every guest feel welcomed and valued. A shout out to the GM, Jose Barragan, for his direct leadership in shaping his amazing crew!
As for the cuisine itself, prepare to be delighted. Their lunch prix fixe menu showcases the finest seasonal ingredients. Each course is a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Every bite is crafted to perfection, leaving a lasting impression on your palate. I started off with the Carthay Greek Style Salad: garbanzo, feta hummus, heirloom tomatoes, and aged sherry vinegar. My Main Course was the Pan Roasted Shrimp: Italian squash, pine nuts, basil, lemon-caper butter sauce. I was indeed rather surprised by how the descriptions of the dishes did not adequately convey the remarkable flavor of the dishes themselves.
In conclusion, dining at Carthay Circle Restaurant in Disney's California Adventure is not simply a meal, but a journey of culinary delight and impeccable service. It's a place where every detail is thoughtfully curated to ensure an unforgettable experience, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a blend of luxury, charm, and exceptional cuisine amidst the magic of Disney.

Chicken ($50) was undercooked, risotto tasted like it should be served in a retirement home, fish “special” was undercooked and 3oz of fish ($56). Brussel sprouts ($15) were one of the worst foods I’ve eaten. Tasted like vomit. We sent them back. Such a disappointing experience. Disney should stop scamming people with this “fine dining” experience. Nope.

Rudy was my server, and although I had an average experience at Disneyland theme park itself, I was pleased with his service AND hospitality as it really stood out.
The Kids' menu is one of the best available in terms of a sit in restaurant. Great portion size and it also actually had flavor and seasoning.
The wine list features a wonderful variety of wines. The dining menu had many international options and I would definitely return in terms of my experience alone at Carthay.

The service was great and the place was nice. Unfortunately, the food (which is ~$50 per person), is actually horrible. We got the risotto, which tastes like nothing, the lamb, which we are afraid gave us food poisoning, and the soup, which was probably the best of what we ordered, but still bland. Not sure how this place has such good reviews, the food was awful and it’s even worse because we had to spend so much.

We had dinner at the Carthay Circle restaurant for my daughter’s 16th birthday. The evening started out great. The upstairs dining area is beautiful. You could hear the music playing in the street. But the evening quickly turned bad. The server was awful. Her demeanor let everyone in our group know she didn’t want to serve us. She never checked on us to make sure everything was okay. We ordered the Parker rolls for the table and it came with a spicy spread. We finally flagged her down and asked for butter. She brought out two small butter slabs for a group of five. We tried to ask for more butter but she dropped the plate and walked away. Finally my husband spoke to the server about celebrating my daughter’s 16th birthday. He ordered a cake which she never brought out. I made the reservation and apologized to everyone in the group.

The setting was really nice.
The waiter was very polite.
Everything was spotless and clean.
The food was whatever. There was nothing great about the flavor. (With the exception of the scallop and mussels appetizer). The menu is the same as every other Dine-in restaurant at Disney. Pork chop, steak, chicken, fish.
I was prepared to pay an astronomical price for food but I thought the food was gonna be more upscale and with rich flavor but instead it was boring and bland.
The pork chop I got was ok. Basic , plain, boring ( 40$or 50$ bucks.) The mashed potatoes (which were 15$ and for the table not on your actual plate) were so salty. My husband got the 70 steak again basic boring plain. You could literally go to Applebee's or outback and eat food with more flavor.
I wouldn't bother going a second time. The Carnation Cafe has richer tasting food.

We were visiting from Singapore and made this reservation 60 days in advance. We were looking forward to this as this place did come with lots of hype. And certainly the food didn’t disappoint, in particularly the pork chop. I often feel that it’s not difficult to execute a nice steak but to get a pork chop right, it takes skill and experience. This pork chop was so lovely that it made my night (think accompanying kids to Disney for 2 days and so I needed a good dinner to pat myself on the back 😊).

Amazing service and atmosphere. Didn't know what to expect as reading some mixed reviews but we really enjoyed our time here. The service was the best we encountered on the resort. The food was definitely good, but not quite what we experienced at Napa, although I wouldn't have that be your deciding factor as it was still very good and they took great care of us. I enjoyed the prime rib (very generous portion) and the others had gnocchi, which they really enjoyed. Kids loved their food as well.

Our family was really looking forward to trying the Carthay Circle Restaurant. Our host gave us a mini tour and was very pleasant. That was the only highlight of our experience. However, our server (whomever they were) never visited our table. We didn't even get acknowledged or brought water. After 20 minutes of waiting at our table, we walked out. If this is the acceptable level of service, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Made dinner reservations 60 days in advance when the reservations released. Reservation was at 6:20 on a Saturday, the Disneyland app lets you check in 20 minutes early. We checked in at 6 and one minute later we got the confirmation to go inside. We checked in with the desk inside and a few minutes later we were walked upstairs to a table. Our waitress Jill was awesome, she answered questions about some cocktails and proactively tailored the drink to my fiance's preference.
We had the house cheddar bread, very reminiscent of pullapart bread. It wasn't bad on its own, but calabrian chili butter was a delectable balance to the bread
My fiance ordered the thick cut pork chop and loved it. The meat was cooked to perfection, just the right doneness. The sauce and apples were a great compliment to the pork chop.
I ordered the special, a cavatelli pasta with lamb sausage, a kale pesto, butternut squash and mushrooms. Not something I would normally gravitate towards but it seemed interesting. It turned out to be a good choice. I cleaned the plate.
We also had tea and the pumpkin chocoflan. The desert was small but amazing, unfortunately no pictures could be taken fast enough before it was devoured. The oranges and pomegranates paired eloquently with the flan. The pumpkin flavor got stronger in the middle which made the dessert even more enjoyable.
Add the amazing service from Jill who kept the drinks refilled and genuine helpful demeanor and you have a perfect dinner.
I was worried it would just be decent food with atmosphere at a Disney price, but I would put it on par with the quality of Hell's kitchen.

A meal that dreams are made of. The chop was seared to absolute PERFECTION forming an amazing crust that also sealed in the juices! The cook on it was was a thing of beauty but the flavor… I’ve had a lot of good pork chops in my day but this is by far the best! (sorry grandma) The vinaigrette, kale, apples and yams make for a wonderfully fall centric environment for the pork chop to shine in and also complimented my Manhattan well! I wasn’t sure if this place was going to live up to the immense hype and it far exceeded. The reservations are worth it!!!

Incredibly disappointed with how this restaurant handled our reservation on a special event night. We were sat at 5:30pm and told at 7:15 they needed to clear the building and close. We probably received our food at 6:30 (which we already thought took awhile) and we ordered desert for our moms birthday and had about 5 minutes to eat it before they asked us to leave. I've never been to a nice restaurant and spent over $550 on dinner and expected to leave after only 1.5 hours. This is incredibly disrespectful and a minimum of 2 hours should be expected for a dinner of this caliber. There was no communication up front, at the reservation or at the check in. Just disappointed and expected more from this restaurant.

I have been to this restaurant twice this year. I am giving a four-star rating because they decided to charge $10.00 for a serving of bread, which was complimentary back when I went early this year. Bread does not cost that much; therefore, I am not sure why the management now decided to charge for it. I find this petty. Other than that, the food was excellent. They changed the menu, and one of the dishes this time was out of this world. The red snapper was a fantastic dish and a recipe that I have not encountered in other restaurants that I have visited. Everything was delicious, the service was good, and the place was beautiful. There are options for vegans and those with health-related dietary restrictions. I highly recommend this place. I hope the restaurant considers providing complimentary bread as it won't break the bank for them. Otherwise, I can say that it is probably the number one restaurant in Disneyland.

Rudy, our server, was great! We were there for drinks, but as soon as I smelled garlic, I had to have whatever it was. Pasta with Mariana (which I normally don't care for, but it smelled so good), extra garlic on mine, basil and a dash of love. It was amazing! So glad I got it.
It's lovely inside, and a perfect place to literally chill out. It was blazing hot outside, I came in a sweaty Betty, and was quickly greeted with a cold glass of water and the cool embrace of the amazing A/C.
My only complaint, they don't have virgin drinks.

We were spending 2 days in Disneyland and 1 day in California adventure and wanted to treat ourselves to a nice dinner in the park.
We splurged and went to Carthay which is near the front of the park. It is true fine dining but they don't make you dress up. We were in normal park wear, shorts and t-shirts and were fine.
We were escorted upstairs and seated in a luxurious booth. It's fine dining with an extensive wine list. The restaurant is old school decor with hidden snow white theme. It's a small menu so take a look before you go if you have picky eaters.
The server recommended 3 dishes which we went with. Potato crocette, pork chop, and lemon grass chicken. All were amazing and devoured. They also had a kids menu which went over well for our 6 year old.
It is fine dining. You need to expect to pay for it as it is also park rates. The food is delicious but it is fine dining portions as well.
Good for couples, families it's good too but adds up quick so may not be worth it if they don't appreciate the cost and fine experience.

My husband and were delighted to dine at Carthay Circle restaurant and believe me it did not disappoint. We had dinner reservations and were seated fairly promptly in the main dining area. All around this dining area are private dining rooms with various Hollywood names to them. In the center is a circular dome showing Snow White's enchanted forest. Dress is casual here.
Carthay Circle is modeled after the original theater that housed the premiere of Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Scattered about are various pictures of Walt Disney at the premiere of the movie and with various celebrities such as Shirley Temple where he received that special Oscar that had 7 little Oscars attached to it. Take a moment to browse. it is truly fascinating.
We had a very attentive and informative waitress. Knowing pretty much everything was ala carte we ordered warm cheddar bread Parker house rolls with Chili Pine Romesco butter. These alone were worth ordering. They were delicious and filling. No need to buy dessert after this one!
I had the beef of NY schnitzel-never thought of doing a schnitzel with beef but it was so different. It was prepared schnitzel style and the beef was very tender. It came with warm potato salad. Almost like an early Oktoberfest.
My husband had the rigatoni pasta with Italian lamb sausage. It came with flava bean and sungold tomotoes. He told me he enjoyed it very much. Meal preparation was a bit slower but good things come to those who wait.
Carthay Circle also offers Al Fresco dining and reservations are hard to come by for this place. Nevertheless I was glad we were able to secure one and have a delightful dinner in CA Adventure.
Located at the roundabout by Hollywood land an Buena Vista St you can see it from the park entrance.

Great dinner at Carthay Circle. Very nostalgic experience. Loved the Zorro display!
We sat in the upstairs overflow section by the balcony (a little disappointed that we couldn’t sit in the main dining room as it is beautiful).
Our table started with the Blue Lump Crab & Marscapone Stuffed Squash Blossom, and the Spanish Yukon Potato Croquettes.
The main entrée we decided to try the limited time Beef of new york schnitzel, Kids Filet, and Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes for the table. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. We ended our dinner with some desserts. The limited time mango cheesecake and Mickey hazelnut crunch ice cream pop for the kids.
We were all very happy with our experience.

Had some time in Carthay lounge, Very nice, great service, good food and portions are of reasonable size. Maybe restaurant is even better but really we enjoyed the visit and did not wish for anything else. Great selection of wines and everything is less expensive than in restaurants. Will visit again.

My husband and I haven’t dined at the restaurant as of yet, but most likely will dine there this evening. I very seldom put a review before dinging at a restaurant. The staff at Carthay Circle knows how take care of their guests. The staff was informative and extremely helpful. I wanted to look at a menu, they pointed to where one was. I told them that it’s hard for me to turn due to my medical issues, less than a minute later, a staff member brought me a menu. This is definitely a restaurant my husband and I want to dine at , if this is an indication of their service, this is certainly a restaurant we want to dine at.

Had the fish of the day (sea bass). It was fairly mediocre. Presentation was nice, but the flavors were off. The chef was doing something based off summer veggies and fruits.
I also ordered some cheesy bread rolls that were recommended by the server. That by far was the best thing I ate there.
At least I can say I ate there I suppose.

Easily my favorite restaurant compared to all the other ones in the two parks. Seating is nice and the food is solid! Every dish was delicious and I would recommend trying whatever you want as you cannot go wrong. The house rolls was delicious with a kick of spicy aioli on the warm bread with some cheese. Pork chop is solid and in the menu year round but I went for the peas raviolis, and it was delicious! I never had it before with pea filling, and I was pleasantly surprise. Appetizers were also all solid! If you can get reservations, I recommend trying :) nice to sit down after walking so much at the park. To top off the review, we booked for 6 people but ended up with 8 due to last minute additions and they were able to accommodate when we stopped by to ask when we arrived at the park. Amazing service and accommodations!

Finally got a reservation here because it was so hyped as one of the best places to eat. I recommend just using Mouse Alerts to get dining updates for any cancellations.
Initial impressions: The atmosphere and ambiance were spectacular and it felt so exclusive and fancy to dine here--even though it wasn't. Service was also top notch being equally attentive and friendly.
Pork chop (skip this): Only ordered because the server recommended this classic menu item. It was very flavorful and tasty, especially with the sauce and some of the fattier pieces. However, a lot of other bites were quite dry and chalky. I would not order this again.
Croquettes (definitely get): These were amazing fluffy and gooey balls that were complimented with fun bright notes as well. Really really enjoyed this and was the only dish that saved this meal for me.
House rolls (skip this as well): Bread was wonderful fluffy, soft, and buttery. The chili butter that comes with it is utterly disappointing and I really should have just asked for regular butter.
Old fashioned (skip): It was generally a balanced old fashioned and I enjoyed it. However, for $20 dollars it's completely unremarkable and I could make this at home.
Overall, I left thoroughly disappointed and my expectations were not even close to being met. I wouldn't really recommend coming here unless you want the experience.

I was excited when we were able to get a table despite not having a reservation, but I was a bit disappointed with my overall experience, especially given the cost of dining here. My husband and I were seated at a table close to the wall, which is understandable given the fact that we didn’t have a reservation. A party with a crying baby was seated next to us, which is not entirely their fault but still takes away from the experience. But again, the table we were seated at may have to do with the fact that we didn’t have reservations. They don’t have any vegan options listed on their menu, but I read in the reviews that they had off-the-menu vegan dishes and decided to give it a try. The two vegan options they gave me were pasta or gnocchi with veggies. I ordered the pasta, but ended up being served gnocchi, which I wasn’t too mad about as the gnocchi was delicious! Everything about this dish was perfect. I saw some reviews complaining about the serving sizes, but they may have changed that as I was served a big portion as you can see in the photo. Our food took a bit long to arrive, but the staff was very attentive and nice. I wasn’t very impressed with the place itself, but that may have to do with the table we were seated at. Overall, the food was great, but I don’t think I’d come back given the limited vegan options and my overall experience.

We went for lunch and got really nice outdoor seating in the shade and got to watch the performances by the fountain. While the food was pretty pricey, it was all really flavorful (except for the meatballs). The plates are pretty small so we approached it tapas bar style and got a bunch of small plates to share.

Glad I finally had a chance to come here. A friend got the reservation for us in the Disneyland app about a month ago. As expected, the food was great. We enjoyed the lamb kabobs and asparagus salad to start. I had the duck. For dessert we had the Japanese Cheesecake which was okay, not great. I would probably skip dessert here next time and get something out in the park instead where there are a lot more options. Our server Dominic was fantastic!

I was totally disappointed by this restaurant. It was rated so high and others had said what a great experience it was. I would not even call this a restaurant. The table we were sat at was one of those waiting in the bar area low tables for appetizers not a main meal. The food, what there was of it was 100% over priced. There was nothing homemade. The food itself was like eating at a low rated diner. The pasta I had was ok, the only thing good on it was the sauce. I had the filet mignon on skewers. I was told "the chef only serves the skewers rare". They were cooked to an inch of them being too crispy to eat. I would never, and I repeat never go to this restaurant again. We ate at other restaurants within the park and they were all excellent. Maybe this was just a bad day.

We had a family dinner at the Cathay Circle restaurant.
A poor welcome with staff looking for our reservation for 15 minutes before pulling us aside. After this wait, we were picked up by a jaded waitress with no motivation or smile. We ended up in an adjoining restaurant room that was freezing with non-adjustable air conditioning. A framework generally in the tone of the 30s. A full menu with good dishes but really very expensive for what it was, and finally, the waiter very unhappy with the amount of our tip.

Food was COMPLETELY tasteless. The halibut had no flavor, the soba noodles were overdone, and the sauce had the same flavor as the butter and the shrimp starter. The Shirley Temple was unsatisfying. I am VERY disappointed. We came as a party of four and all of us left disappointed. ZERO stars.

I can’t help but feel like the quality has gone down a little bit over the last few years. Their salads are always spectacular however and have never dissapointed. I would love to see more creativity with the ingredients in the main courses and the price point they are offering might be too cheap now. It just doesn’t feel so exclusive or very unique anymore. I reccomend raising prices and encouraging the chefs to take bold risks.

Most of the Reviews are not for Carthay Circle Restaurant, but for the Al Fresco Dining Area.
Carthay is no restaurant for tired, cranky children that want Chickenfingers and a bed, please keep this in mind when you reserve a table. This is an upscale dining experience, for people with appreaciation for Chef's Art, the prices reflects southern California and its fine dining Etablissements. Including the prices.
Our Waiter MiMi was fantastic, she was kind and caring and always had a smile on her face.
The table was a little tight for 4 people and should only be given to groups of 3 max. We were 4 smaller people and fit, but it was not comfortable du to the shape of the table. Especially with left and right handed beside each other a little challenging. The Chefs accommodate allergy restrictions very carefully, this was definitely a huge plus.
The food was fantastic. I had the Ravioli, flavor was fantastic. I loved the sweetness of the squash compared with the tangy flavor of the greens. The Lamb was a little gamey but generally super tender and very well cooked. One Ravioli more would have been a huge plus, the portion was on the smaller side and might not fill everyone. Other portions were more reasonable.
The Porkchop was prepared very well, a little dryer but I know Americans love their pork different than we Germans so it is not a negative mention. It was seared well.
The Crouquettes were very delicious and paired well with the Porkchop. Same with the Brussel Sprouts.
(They were a tiny bit bitter, I guess they haven't gotten any frost before harvest to break the bitterness.)
I will come back to try some of the other Dishes.

We decided to try this place out for the first time on Christmas Day 2022. Of course I can’t say nothing bad about the service it was definitely amazing and for that they get the extra star. The reason I didn’t rate it better is because I’ve been battling food poisoning since last night and being that this was pretty much the only thing I ate there’s no reason to believe it was anything else.
I tried the Ceviche first, which tasted amazing but may be the fish had bacteria who know. After that I ate chicken and mash potatoes. Nothing too fancy. So because of this stomach situation I’ll probably never try this place again, besides I don’t think the food was worth the price but the service was.

I would say my experience here was pretty good. The staff was good and on-top of everything, but the food was not the best that you can get at Disney. The pasta (whatever kind you may get) is just butter with a side of pasta. It is like butter soup. If you got the sauce pasta, it is sauce soup. The rest of the food was decent but honestly, Disney has way more to offer than this place.

Shout out to hostess Teresa and server Jay for the most magical dining experience!
I mentioned this was our first visit to Carthay, and hostess Teresa gave us a wonderful table inside the lounge in a quiet corner. Our server Jay was quick to provide drinks and his best food recommendations. He was such a delight to talk to in between drinks and dinner, his charm and expertise were much appreciated!
I highly recommend dining alfresco to get the Disney experience while staying in budget. Hubby's North African chicken was so dense and juicy!! He loved the rice and hints of lemon in the sauce. My pork belly baos were the perfect size for me (light eater) and were surprisingly filling as well.
Overall we had an incredible time at the lounge. Hubby and I were so lucky to be amongst a warm and festive atmosphere; we loved the history behind the theming and hope to come back again soon to try the full menu!

Probably the nicest restaurant here in Disneyland. Was told to wait up to 45mins but I got my table like in 10? I don't remember there is a lot of variety of food to choose from. But we had a decent meal there. Portion (or the plating to create a visual). can be more generous. Despite so, the taste was excellent! We make it a habit to dine at Carthay Circle when visiting Disneyland/DCA. The first three times were fantastic, from the service to the atmosphere and food. This time was a different story, and has unfortunately soured our desire to return.
The girl working check in was rude, short, and surprisingly unhelpful for what is supposed to be a finer dining restaurant. Unfortunately I didn't think to get her name. We arrived for our 4PM dinner at 3:45, as the Disneyland app said we could check in early. She informed us that there were two separate restaurants now, and we would have to wait until 4 to check in at the other desk personally, despite having checked in on the app and with her. She instructed us to wait outside until that time. Less than 5 minutes later, an employee informed us that our table was ready, and took us in to be seated downstairs. Each previous time we have eaten at Carthay Circle, they have seated us downstairs and taken our drink order until our table upstairs was ready.
Not a minute later, as we were reviewing the menu, the girl from check in came up to our table, and told us, "I can't have you sitting here." She informed us that this was a separate restaurant and we didn't have a reservation for both tables. As my wife began to inform her that we were seated by an employee, she interrupted and told us that that employee had "made a mistake seating us here." OK, no problem, but it probably should have been apologetic instead of accusatory. We didn't know that the Lounge had split off into a separate restaurant, and we certainly didn't decide to seat ourselves there. I should also mention that every table downstairs was empty except one or two.
After checking in (for the third time,) we waited outside for our table to be ready, and discussed whether or not we really wanted to chance the rest of our anniversary dinner with such poor service. We decided to stay for our meal.
I'm glad we did, as both the gentleman who sat us and our server Tina were decent. The food and drinks were great, save for my porkchop being undercooked for my taste. I'm sure it was prepared correctly, and my wife enjoyed the fish as well as the mashed potatoes.
Our previous visit had two drinks each for a total of four, and an appetizer along with the two entrees and mashed potatoes. This time we only got two drinks, two entrees, and the mashed potatoes for about the same total cost. We noticed the drinks had increased to $19+ from $14/$15. Quite a price increase, but I wouldn't have minded had the experience been the same.
The food and drinks are worthy of four stars, even at an increased cost. Unfortunately the poor first impression and bad attitude of the check in girl negatively influenced our meal. I see in other reviews that people have had a similar experience, so I can't just chalk it up to a bad day as I initially wanted to.

Food is good but very expensive. The menu seemed to be smaller than I remembered. Service here compared to other sit-down restaurants across the resort was really slow, but maybe it was just that day. Like it took way too long to get our food, but maybe it was understaffed that day.

The entire experience was terrible. We were greeted by the staff and they took our names. We waited for about 45 minutes before noticing that the couples coming in after us were being seated only after they had waited for a few minutes. We went to the maître d’ and were told we hadn’t checked in. After 15 minutes of seeing more people let in ahead of us who didn’t have reservations, they told us AGAIN they didn’t see us on the waiting list. After a complaint they finally let us in and took another 20 minutes before the waitress took our order.
My wife and I ordered drinks which turned out to be the second trainwreck. I am an amateur bartender, and both our drinks were over diluted, too boozy with no balance, and I could taste gin martini in my wife’s daiquiri because the bartender couldn’t be bothered to empty the ice in his cocktail shaker after using it on the previous drinks. We returned both cocktails with no substitute.
After getting our drinks returned, another 40 minutes went by without food. The manager was hovering over the wait staff, who were all in line waiting for their dishes from the kitchen. Didn’t seem that he was capable of anything but silent sweating, watching the front and back of the house collapse.
The food was ok. Was annoyed that they served mid-tier New York strip as the only steak option instead of anything tastier and more tender like ribeye or filet.
Wish I had another hand, so I could give this place three thumbs down!

The Manhattan I got was fabulous. The rib-eye was great. Saw people complaining about the portion, but it was way more than what I was expecting. Last but not the least, the dessert, you have to try the molten chocolate caramel cake. One of the best ones I’ve ever had.

Shortly after she had a table ready for us upstairs. Luke took us to our table. He was very friendly and informative gave us a brief history about the restaurant. Then we had a wonderful server in Eileen we both had martinis white Seabass wine we had amazing desserts one of each. However the host Meg and others I didn’t happen to get their names are the total opposite! If I didn’t set a reservation I wouldn’t have ate here because they were rude. I checked in 3 times and not one person told me to check in again inside the location to be seated. I thought it was inconsiderate and they were rude about it knowing I was sitting there for over 30 minutes with my kids! They talked about you right in front of your face and stare while they do it. Jaime was not talkative when thanked. The food was good the bread was super soft the meat for the roast beef was cooked so well it just fell apart when I got a fork through it, the kids meal chicken was delicious without the sauce. Again my server was amazing but everyone else was unprofessional and unwelcoming!

Dined at the Carthay Circle Restaurant Lounge. Food was good but nothing special. Small, appetizer like, portions. Front of the house and managers were not too friendly but what saved the experience was our server Mimi who was terrific. Hustling and polite. Food came out timely and was warm (not hot) and fresh.
Arrived at 6:15 for a 6:40 reservation and hat to wait until 650 to be seated - and there was no line and the restaurant seemed to not be too busy.
We were greeted by a less than friendly check in and were later accosted by a manager at 1901 lounge next door for waiting in the wrong area.
Additionally for what you get this place is kind of pricey and is really not meant for kids.
I don’t recommend and will not be returning.

I have been sitting at my table for 40 minutes due to kitchen delays. Service is given to some guests but definitely not all equally. After 35 minutes of no waiter contact my family was given a plate of crackers (shown in photo). I am a little disappointed in the service Disney is providing post Covid. As a life long Disney fan I hope things go back to the quality level they are famous for. I would skip this restaurant as the food, drinks, and time needed are not worth missing theme park time.

I was very excited to try Carthay Circle. It was near impossible to get reservations, but finally did for our party of 3. We checked in on the app for our 6:10pm appointment. They called us in 5 minutes later. We proceeded to the host desk to check in again with them and were then asked to wait in the sitting area. Another 5 minutes and then we were taken to our table upstairs. We were seated in the side dining room in a booth table.
We opted for warm cheddar parkerhouse rolls, ahi tuna poke, 2 rib eye steaks (medium rare) and the quesadilla kid's meal that came with fresh fruit and milk. First came the appetizers. The rolls were absolutely delicious, it was soooo buttery and soft. Definitely a must get and this is from a person who usually doesn't even eat bread. The ahi tuna poke was fresh raw tuna cubes mixed in a citrusy sauce. It was very good and refreshing. Great appetizers. Then the ribeyes came as well as the kids meal. Wow those steaks were huge. They must of been at least 1lb steaks. Cause they looked huge even after they were cooked. It was so much food we couldn't even finish it. It was very tasty and tender. It was just enough salt to make the flavors pop. One of the best steaks I've ever had. It was topped with a mango salsa which was also flavorful and refreshing. Both my fiancee and I couldn't finish it, it was so big. Decided to take it home. It was as good even the next day.
The quesadilla on the otherhand was not good at good. There was no flavor. The kids wouldn't eat it. Even I couldn't eat it. The fruit that came with the meal (grapes and oranges) were really good though. Definitely do not get the quesadilla.
Overall a great meal (for the adults) LOL The steak although the priciest item on the menu at a whopping $62 each but well worth the money. Definitely recommend.
Service was great at first. Waters were never empty and food came in a timely manner. However, near the end of our meal it was near impossible to find our waiter. Ended up having to ask the bus boy who filled our waters to find our waiter for us so he can bring boxes and the check.
This was our last day of our annual pass (since the summer is all blacked out). Bummer if we ever renew or come back will definitely eat at Carthay Circle again!

A very un-magical experience. Let’s start with the fact that we waited 25 minutes at the pedestal in front waiting for the app to give us the second notice to go our table because no one told us while we were standing there that you have to check in inside and not with the app. Even when I asked to use the restroom saying we were still waiting for our table, the woman at the pedestal didn’t say anything about having to check in inside and just directed me to the restroom. It wasn’t until I let them know we had be waiting a long time did they tell us to check in inside. It was my daughter’s 16th birthday, and she was so excited to eat inside the beautiful restaurant with her friends and had put in a lot of effort getting the reservation months in advance for all of us only to be escorted through the main room to a side room that could have been any place in the park. Then, when we wanted to order the fancier drinks on the menu, we were told they were taking 15 minutes, and the waiter tried to talk out of our orders telling me I should order wine instead. We said we would wait, and the drinks actually came much faster than he said. We were also accommodated for a vegan version of the pasta special, but when we asked if one of the girls could have an adult size of a children’s item and look at that menu, we were told, “no, only 12 and under.” Then, we were condescendingly directed towards appetizers or the soup for each of us to eat, telling us they were less expensive, or we could split a meal! I explained it was not the price or money, happy to pay an adult price, but the fact that she liked simpler foods and didn’t care for the adult menu. We had no problem at other Disney restaurants accommodating her throughout our trip, but he said his manager wouldn’t let him, strict policy. At that point, I decided there was no way I was ordering the steak because they didn’t deserve that kind of business from me. We said we needed a few minutes more than to order, and he told us, “well, the food is taking 30 to come out of the kitchen once you order (more like 40 minutes btw!)” When he came back, we ordered her the pasta special which she absolutely hated and kept looking over her shoulder at a boy clearly over 12 behind us eating Mac n cheese. So, I called the waiter over and explained this isn’t working, and she hates the pasta (which was brownish gray because cooked with portobello mushrooms and had a ton of squash vegetables in a fancy sauce—just the worst for a picky eater). I explained she wasn’t eating for what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner. I asked if should could please just get the Mac n cheese. He tells me he’s sorry, but there is no Mac n cheese. I incredulously said we just watched the boy behind us eat it, so whatever that pasta was is what we would like. He says, “oh, well, that was the pasta with the cheese sauce.” Seriously?! I said, “that is what we would like to order.” Then, he finally agreed to ask his manager. He left and came back and said she could have that pasta, but by then, the rest of us had all finished our food. And, the birthday dinner was pretty much ruined. Plus, none of the food was that great or memorable, just okay, not even the bread everyone raved about online, except my daughter really enjoyed that pasta special. We also watched a table send back their pork chop and some really angry families visibly not happy with how long the food was taking . This is definitely not the quality of Blue Bayou food, which is where we usually eat but was being refurbished. Our lunch at Cafe Orleans was much better and service impeccable. The chocolate dessert my daughter ordered was definitely the best part of the meal. The waiter brought it with a little candle, lit it and walked away, which we thought was nice until just minutes later he returned with a special little ice cream birthday dessert with actual numbered candles on it for the age of the child across from us and stayed to sing happy birthday with the other family! If you want a magical birthday or even a great meal, go elsewhere.

Disappointed to say the lest it. The drinks where good and service was excellent. Beyound that sub-par. I would say there steak is not even as good as a Texas Road House. My wife ordered the sea bass. That had no flavor. My son had the petite filet that was a quarter inch thick at the best looked more like a flank steak. My daughter had a cheese quesadilla nothing special. They charge extra for bread for the table. For the price of the mediocre food is just ridiculous. Cinderellas Royal Table in Florida is 100x better food for less. This place is a over priced Dennys with a fancy waiter and ok drinks. Would be a one star restaurant other then wait staff and ambiance. Will not go back and do not recommend. Good food is worth the money this was a ripoff.

Nice to step out of theme park mode for a moment. Food is good quality. More modestly portioned than outside the park (which we appreciate) and it was very tasty. The kids meal especially was nice to get some fruit and well prepared whole food into the small people.

Great food, but pricey. Didn’t realize the bread was free. I should have asked for it when it was offered. The salmon was delicious. The wild berry lemonade is tasty and refreshing. For a party of three, our meal came out to approximately $200 without ordering any desserts. I enjoyed eating on the second floor, but would have preferred sitting in the main second floor dining area. We were seated more off to the side, like an afterthought. Fun fact, Carthay Circle was the theater that took a chance, believed, and gave Walt Disney and his “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” their first chance. Carthay Circle is a nod to nostalgia, but in terms of today’s pricey prices.

Carthay Circle is one of the best restaurants in Disneyland. If you are going to be in Disney California Adventure you should definitely try to get a reservation or on the wait list to the alfresco dining or better yet for the upstairs dining. Both options will be a great experience, every time I've been here the staff was so friendly and helpful. I often go here alone to the alfresco dining and sit at the bar, you get to watch all the different drinks being made and if it's not too busy have some conversation with the bar tenders and other patrons at the bar. Sitting at a table downstairs is nice too and the interior is just amazing. The upstairs dining room is the best experience though and on the ceiling of the main dining room is a scene from snow white. The food is delicious, most everything I've tried I've loved. The only thing that wasnt to my liking I tried was the pork chop but that could just be me. They also change the menu seasonally or maybe just for winter and summer so there is an opportunity to try something new if you can make it during those times of year. It is a must try at least once but more than likely you'll want to go back.

Last year was so very good and service is always excellent!
But, with this visit, sadly all protein choices were overcooked and dry. Pork chop was a large, beautiful cut apparently cooked to a foodsafe 170+ degrees, half of which was edible and only saved by it's bed of very nice pomegranate sauce. Duck was also overcooked and dry. Again, saved by the sauce. We kept comparing to our own home cooking where tonight would have been preferred. Much too expensive to be this disappointing!
...
(half hour later)
There really is no excuse for such blatant destruction of good food.
We probably will not risk the expense to eat here again. Quite sad, given the site and excellent service.

Super expensive, small portions, mediocre service, and so so food. The only really good thing about this place is the location. One would be better off patronizing other resteraunts in Downtown Disney...

I come to the restaurant at least once every time I visit Disney. Free bread is now gone, food has gone downhill, menu has taken drastic changes, I probably won’t come back until changes are made.
Apparently on a quarterly investing conference call recently, they suggest cutting food portions as a way to save money. Even noted that guest wouldn’t notice. This was said on a call that anyone in the public could listen to. This is Disney saying they don’t care about upsetting 1, 100, 1000 or even 10,000 people, because it makes no difference to them, they are always going to be profitable.
Speak with your wallet, let them know unless changes are made to what is was before, this place is not worth it.
Removing free bread? Come on, even Cheesecake Factory has free bread.
Also, firecracker wings has been gone from the menu for a long time, that was my last straw. Absolute disgrace, I would rather dirty my mouth and body from the McDonalds across the street.

We unfortunately were very disappointed with our experience at Carthay Circle and won't be returning. We've gone in the past and have always loved it, but the quality has just gone down significantly, with prices rising. The raviolis were only okay, and the cost was $10.50 a piece for each small ravioli! My meal which was actually an appetizer was half the price, and tasted much better. We were seated in a room off to the side of the main area so we did not even get enjoy the ambience of the restaurant. Definitely not worth the price you are paying to eat there. We have been very disappointed with just how much Disney is lowering the quality of everything.

The décor and nostalgia of the restaurant are great. The food was good (albeit very expensive - small portions, but I get it, it's a "fine dining" establishment). It's a beautiful environment, but the problem is the noise from the kitchen in the main dining room upstairs. It sounds like your eating in a high school cafeteria. Denny's is quieter than Carthay. They really need to wall-off the kitchen area/serving area. It would make for much quieter and enjoyable fine-dining experience. It was Valentine's Day, and the waiter sat us right next to kitchen-service area. Before we even sat down, I asked if he could find us another table not so close to the kitchen. He was nice enough to oblige, and we were sat a little further away. Didn't help the noise at all though. Please, close off the kitchen area.

I believe this is the most expensive restaurants in Disneyland or California adventure, but it is still a wonderful experience. The theater is a replica to the original movie theater that played Walt Disney’s first film Snow White and the seven dwarves on opening night.
The service was excellent, the restaurant was immaculately cleaned, and even using the restroom was a fun part of the experience.
The kids were happy with their menu choices, the cocktails were delicious and our meals were cooked to perfection.
The only criticism I would leave about this restaurant dining experience is that the portion sizes of our menu choices were a bit small. The gentleman next to us having the pork chop however look like he did not have a problem with his portion size. Probably a good idea to ask the server to help you with the size you prefer.

Very nice and very fancy. The mushroom ravioli was great.
I can't believe they are unnecessarily charging $12 for bread... COMMON MAN.

We made a reservation for lunch and was promptly seated outside shortly after checking in. The menu is what is posted on Disney’s website, so just search for it Alfresco Dining lunch menu on the website. The waitstaff was professional and explained that most dishes are small portions except for the pasta, salmon and chicken dishes. Delicious food, but even the chicken breast dish was somewhat dry and small portioned. We also got the strozzapreti pasta, which was good and decent sized; my kid ate it up (not the kid pasta). The highlight was brussel sprouts with pomegranate seeds, which had a bit of a spice kick. I would skip the chicken but reorder the pasta and brussel sprouts. Service was attentive and the server refilled my coffee (tiny cup) numerous times. My husband’s B52 coffee was strong.

Beautiful Hollywood lounge like ambience and a fine dining at the helm of a church like spire in Disney California Adventure park. Service as you would expect for this pricey restaurant. Was able to accommodate almost every dietary restriction. Limited menu at dinner time too with just a few entrées to choose from. Hard to get reservation and very pricey.

Super expensive and very very Pedestrian food made by recent college graduates. Even for Disney $36 for a chicken salad and $17 for soup is pretty bad.
