Traditional Japanese Restaurant known for their Omakase. YAGI is a sushi restaurant for beginners and Pro's. Kid friendly & Welcomes Special Occasions!
The food was really great. We had the baked scallops and a mixture of rolls. It wasn’t a five star experience for me but it was very good. Somehow between two people, even though it was happy hour, we still managed to spend $75 on food alone.
I was extremely disappointed when I received the bill and saw that we’d been charged $7 just for plain soda water. Eventually they removed it but I never remember paying for soda water anywhere else unless it’s bottled.

In a nutshell: hidden gem, everything is FANTASTIC.
This is a classy establishment with a cozy atmosphere, not pretentious at all. Food is top notch, with impeccable attention to detail, fresh ingredients, and lots of variety. Staff is extremely friendly and polite, everything is done incredibly well. Fantastic sake selection as well. I highly recommend the omakase and allowing the staff to take you on a journey.
I tried a lot of stuff that I typically don’t go for but loved everything I had. It was amazing getting to taste the different fish side-by-side and learning about everything.

Yagi was an amazing find in Anaheim Hills. They are small and fill up fast, but their sushi chefs are top notch and incredibly fast. We tried their omakase, two rolls, miso soup, and their hot tea. All were fantastic. If you enjoy nigiri, the omakase is absolutely the one to go with.

Best omakase I've ever had. We went on a Sunday right before dinner when it wasn't very busy, so the service was great. Food was so fantastic that I'm still thinking about the flavors over half a week later. $65 for 11 pieces but everything is so so good.
Every piece of fish was thoughtfully flavored in a way that brought out the qualities of the fish. Most of them were already sauced in some ponzu and other sauces, not needing any soy, and the rice flavored with vinegar and wasabi was tasty--I normally don't like wasabi but it was good. The toro (not pictured because I gobbled it instantly haha), sea bass with truffle, and dessert were all the stars of the show for me. Will definitely be back again soon!
Also, parking was super easy.

My favorites are the raw scallop with uni nigiri, soft shell crab hand rolls, and bluefin toro. They are always consistent and good :)

Where to begin, came and and was asked to sign in which we did, and the hostess said she would send us a text when the table was ready. 20 minutes later she decides to sit 2 couples ahead of us and when we asked why, she said we all signed in at the same time. To that I just walked out, she saw us as we were walking in and us waiting outside. The reason she sat the other couples is due to them being "elderly." Please don't lie and say we all signed in at the same time, we were intentionally skipped and the program they use shows the order of the sign in. First and last experience.

Where to start. This is an amazing little sushi place, everything we had was very fresh, very flavorful, and amazingly delicious. Did mostly shasimi nigiri (fish on rice), and there wasn't a single thing that came from behind the bar that was wasn't amazing. The unagi, as an example, was cooked perfectly, melting in ones mouth the saltiness of the fish playing with the delicate sweetness of the sauce and rice makes for an amazing and full palate experience. I will be back for sure.

I have never written a Google review but felt compelled to for Yagi. This is hands down the best, most fresh and flavorful sushi I have had in southern California. I've been to the various Michelin star rated sushi spots around, but they have nothing on Yagi. This is a hidden GEM of a place. The sushi, the sashimi, the rolls - everything is top notch. You will not regret coming here. They are also very attentive and kind in their service.

Beware the butterfish/white tuna/escolar. Had stomach issues the next day due to the indigestible wax esters in this fish. I didn’t know this until today. Surprised it was served as it is banned in Japan and Italy. I have been coming here occasionally for several years and was disappointed by this recent experience.
The freshness was just ok, didn’t taste as good as it did in previous dinners here.

Horrible restaurant. Worst experience spent $250 dinner bill. When I told the server my $21 nambeyake udon was too salty (noodles were rubbery), I asked if they would remake it and she said it’s not salty and it would be the same. I decided not to order anything else. When the bill came, she charges me $10.50 half the order saying since I ate about half, that’s their policy. Are you kidding??? It seems that this restaurant is all about speed, getting you in and out with a high price point and the fast food of omakase sushi which is a joke.

This little place is amazing! All the fish was super fresh and cut beautifully. We had a lot of nigiri and several appetizers, everything we ordered was very good. The clams were delicious, I think the broth they were cooked in had miso, which was delightful. The green mussels were also really good and cooked perfectly. OMG, the Chanwan Mushi was devine, so airy and delicate yet super flavorful. I was told they make the dashi in-house, which explains why it's so good. If you order the Chawan Mushi, be aware that it takes about 15 minutes to make, so order it as soon as possible. You can tell they take pride in everything they serve. You won't regret going, this place is truly a gem. Everything on the menu is delicious, and the service is outstanding.

My family and I were excited to try this place for the first time today since it was close to our house. We looked over the menu and chose what we wanted. We ordered two pieces of yellow tail, two pieces of blue fin toro, lollipop roll and a cucumber roll. My wife chimed in and said we want shashimi at the last minute. When the sushi came out, it was delivered by a different waitress and I mentioned that we ordered two pieces each vs 4 each. She politely took it back and brought back two pieces. Then a moment later, our original waiter came to our table and started to clarify and argue with me. She said, “I don’t understand, you ordered shashimi and it only comes in 4 pieces not two” I then replied that it was my first time and I didn’t know. On the menu it, I saw two choices (2 pieces/4 pieces) and the corresponding prices. She replied with “well it’s clearly written on the menu” and I apologized and said that if I’m going to be paying for 4 pieces then bring the rest out. At the end of the conversation, I was embarrassed and it caused my wife and I to argue since it was such a small and quiet place. It made it seem like we were cheap but it was just a misunderstanding. Overall the food was great but the waitress with the very short hair was completely unprofessional, caused a scene and ruined our first experience there. We ate there 9/27 ~7pm. I’m still upset writing this

Went here for omakase. It was $70 per person. The fish selection was good and the panna Cotta at the end was delicious. What I wasn't a big fan of was the rice quality. At the beginning of our meal, the rice wasn't glutinous enough and the rice vinegar was lacking if not absent completely. Later near the end, our rice pieces were too mushy. I didn't think there was consistency in the rice quality. Lastly, we had bar seating but weren't served by the sushi chef, instead a set of fish would be plated and then served to us.

Lousy service and Uncleanness Despite its Top Price
Our family went for dining but as we sat at the reserved table, the very first thing we noticed was it was sticky and not properly cleaned. It was extremely surprising and upsetting because our choice was based on the Google reviews. The 20pc Sushi we ordered also was somewhat deceiving since the first came out fine, but when we repeated the order the 2nd came with more salmons and less of more expensive sushi. I can find authentic sushi and sashimis somewhere else in OC. Definitely this was our very first and the LAST visit to this place. Consumers be aware!!!

Very lousy service considering the top price you pay for the dishes.
My son made a reservation for the party of four. We ordered two 20pc sashimi, one 11pc chef special sushi and an upon. First 20cs sashimi came in OK. The second came with a lot more pcs of salmon and few pcs of more expensive fish. Very disappointing and felt being ripped off. And they'll charge you for every thing. Extra Wasabi $3, green tea $2. There are much finer and better sushi places for the price you pay. Our bill was $360. Never going back!!!!!!

Pretty interesting menu with tasty dishes but lousy service. A person in our party had her dish canceled while we were still ordering so she waited for a while before it was discovered and made. By that time most of us were practically done. We had to ask multiple times for water and utensils before they were actually provided. And this was not even a busy time for the restaurant. I would give it another try for their menu but only with the improved service. Otherwise it's not worth it.

Good food and service!
The fish was fresh, the flavors bursting, and portions filling. This place is a good bang for your buck place and has great service. They do get super busy at night so be sure to call ahead and either get a reservation or find out how packed they are. Starting off with the collarbone for a hot appetizer or the soft shell crab is how I like to go and then doing the omakase is great. They will substitute for Waygu (which I do when i'm in the mood sometimes) but I've found they aren't the best with their beef. I like it seared and undercooked and when I get it here it tends to be cooked all the way through. Everything else is great

Other than the ridiculous social distancing requirements that general gruesome newsom has unjustly forced upon the business owners of the state the experience was great. Most of the people weren't wearing masks which was awesome, couple Karens that out of an abundance of ridiculousness had theirs on and their poor beta male husbands who were most likely beaten in to submission to comply with the nanny state. Great sushi for the money. This place was great. The moment you walk in the door you are greeted by the waitstaff and the sushi chefs. This place was recommended by some locals and they were sure right. The sushi was very fresh, tasty and the price was right. 6 people ate a ton of sushi and got out for under $200. That is insane. The restaurant is one of those hole in the wall types in a strip mall. You probably wouldn’t expect this kind of quality from the looks on the outside. But, if you are nearby, take a chance on this place. You won’t be disappointed.
