Has always been one of our favorite places to eat, but when going last night we had such a horrible experience. Took over 40 min to get forks. Our salads were warm once we finally recieved a plastic one they send with order pickups. When asking for refills we waited almost 20 min before the waitress said they were out of tea. Husband's food was very salty. Hopefully it was just a bad night for them but definitely won't be going back for a while

If you ever near Apple Valley, and in the mood for Italian food, I highly recommend this spot. I order the penne allá vodka pasta and it was some of the best tasting pasta I had in while. The flavor profile will have taste buds doing backflips. Not to mention the servers where friendly, patient, and made the dining experience a 10. I didn’t know a Italian restaurant can make buffalo wings better then most places that specialize in wings but they hit it out of the park. Not to mention their homemade ranch that compliments the wing sauce. I will definitely be back to try their other pastas and appetizers. Love this restaurant. It's very inviting and warm atmosphere. Staff is very professional and enjoyable to chat with.
Food is always delicious and good portions. They offer different areas which is nice and a bar well stocked.

The food was soooooo good!
Great portions, reasonably priced. The bread for our sandwiches was so fresh, and the bread with oil and balsamic was delicious! Very pleased, will definitely be back!

We came out at the recommendation of a co-worker, and it did not disappoint. Tracy was our server, and she was so kind a knowledgeable. The food tasted fresh. We started with fried green beans and Alfredo stick. That could have been a meal themselves. We had the chicken parmesean and steak medallions. Finished with a salted Carmel cake.

We tried Mama Carpino's for the first time yesterday and what a pleasant experience it was! We ordered fettuccine, pizza and corn chowder followed by desserts. Everything was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, pricing is good and we just loved the atmosphere. They also do takeout.

If the wait times weren't so long and the waiting area so uncomfortable I'd give 4 stars. Such a popular restaurant should really take reservations. It would cut down on the wating and open up the parking lot.

We've been patronizing Carpinos about once a week for about five years. Always great, except today. Sat in the bar as usual. Game is on. Was nice to be the only two in the bar. (eventually others sat down in the bar area) Today's chicken Marsala was dry and tasteless. The spaghetti sauce was so sour and bitter I could not eat it. I had to go and find my own napkins because we were never given any. We were also not given any knives, just forks. The chicken could not be manipulated with a fork alone so I used my pocket knife. Once the food was placed on the table we didn't see him again for 20+ minutes. I was ready to order another drink but couldn't. All I wanted at that point was to pay my bill and leave. We've decided to drive over to Victorville/Hesperia and explore the Italian restaurants there for awhile and hope that Carpinos will recognize that the last couple of months the quality of everything there is slipping. This is usually the beginning of the demise of a business as they usually don't bother to investigate, verify, correct issues and seek continuous improvement. Seen it happen many times throughout the years. Carpinos will be no different unless the owner takes an active role in managing his or her business.

We FINALLY had a date night. We waited over 20 minutes. Not 1 person acknowledged us or came to our table. Until we walked out. Snooty waitress said bye, "Bye, have a nice night. "

We have been coming here for almost 10 years- Always great food, service and atmosphere!! Last night was a lil different, I won't go into detail because we all have bad days or just things don't come together as we hope. So, I just want to say that the manager was very apologetic, professional and courteous and was willing to comp us our Calamari and even desert! - One small experience doesn't take away ALL the other great times we've had here with family & friends!! Thank you Alberto for being such a great manager and helping keep Mama Carpino's reputation entact!! We love this place and will continue to refer out friends and family!!

The food, no matter what it is, is AMAZING. I love olive garden but this, man this place here... can have my whole check. Portions are pretty big and the drinks are good. Ask about any specials cause you don't wanna miss anything. There are plates that aren't my preference but they are still tasty. The staff is always working hard and friendly. Love love love going here. The alfredo sauce is always the best.

I'm from NYC. I was living in Apple Valley for a year. I'm driving around and I see this non descipt looking restuarant. I go in. It's beautiful inside. The food was fantastic! Couldn't believe it. Go there! Do not pass it by! Promise! Great pizza too.

I had the meat lasagna. It was bland, tasteless, and chewy. The lasagna had a process not prepared taste. The lasagna was served with cold and hot spots. The restaurant was recommended by friends, however extreme disappointment. Don't waste your money or time!

Best pizza since I was in New York last year and in all honesty, the pizza sauce is better than my husbands homemade sauce that all my coworkers rave about. Only been there once, but I'm coming back for sure.

One of the best things is that they LISTEN. If you have an allergy or are simply a very picky eater like me, they will take the time to listen carefully. Every picky detail, they got perfectly. Top to bottom, there's nothing negative I can say.

They are patient and kind. Witness an extremely belligerent Middle aged African American woman harassing one of the workers while he was trying to come back into the store after his break and during the whole rampage, he was calm and kept his composure.

It's hard to find an amazing restaurant that also values their customers. Plus they work like a family. Seeing everyone pull together as a complete unit and helping each other out the whole time was great. Normally restaurant employees only care about their own tables, but everyone had each others backs. Hard to find.

Pound for Pound, I've always been a round table fan(or hungry Howie's, if you can find them). Yet, after my visit at Mama's, I think the crown and the title has found a new home. Their calamari has surpassed my favorite that was originally BJs. Their manicotti was simply sweet and delicious; much better than what I've had in Vegas, Arizona and from anywhere else I've ever had in over 30 years. Same can be said for their meat lovers lasagna; none of the ingredients were overpowering the taste of each other.

The pizza is indefinitely going to be the tastiest memory for a while. The quality of the cheese alone will have me crawling back for more. They give a bunch of toppings and the dough not only taste delicious, but it holds perfectly with a decadent crunch/chew. You definitely will get your moneys worth no matter what you order.

Though that might be all that we had, we will surely be back to try the other half of the menu in due time .

Hands down the best Italian restaurant period. I have been to many Italian restaurants and none seem to match Mama Carpinos. I have been going here since 2006 (somewhere around that timeframe). And it has always been on point. When I take friends from out of town they ask “what’s good?” I say “everything” literally it is. The mushrooms are an amazing appetizer that almost steals the show. I have never been disappointed in this place and look forward to going for years to come.

We decided to try Mama Carpino's tonight, even though the wait was 45 minutes. I was craving Italian food!
Once we were seated, hot bread was served right away. That took the edge off my hunger pains until our calamari appetizer arrived. The calamari was lightly breaded and crispy and the marinara sauce was tasty too.
For my dinner, I ordered,"Penne Pasta with Chicken and Sundried Tomatoes". I forgot to order my pasta "al dente" and was quite delighted when it came that way. My meal was pretty good, but I thought it could have had more of a tomato influence. The chicken was very tender and tasty. My husband ordered the "Penne alla Vodka" without the pancetta. His pasta was delicious and "al dente" too!
We will definitely the dining here again!

I have been coming to this place since it opened, it was beautiful when it first opened , it is even more gorgeous now. If youre visiting the desert or just passing through this is THEE best and closest to HOME made as youll ever get when it comes to Italian food ,dessert wine deli and most importantly, atmosphere. [ ] Mama's Carpio's makes black people feel uncomfortable and feel treated differently than other races/colored people. We were sat all the way to the back. That they made us wait until four'o clock for a table, we didn't ask for. I understand that there was a lot of us well, not that many about 5 or 6. I didn't appreciate the side eyes from the employees. I did love the atmosphere and the design. I feel like this place is a reminder racism is NOT dead. People can definitely can be a reminder and a warning to stay safe. The food was a hit and miss for my family, for example: the lasagna 👍 The chicken Alfredo 👎 Soups and salad in between. The shrimp Alfredo 👎 Smores lava cake👎

Our server Jessica was as good as any server I've ever had before. Very polite, very attentive. We really appreciated everything she did for us. As for the atmosphere of the restaurant, it is always good. It is a little noisy in in the restaurant but people are having a good time and enjoying themselves and their food. So I guess a little noises to be expected but it was just on the noisy side just a little. Thank you!

Very good food! Has that authentic taste your looking for. Prices are rather high, but u do get a good portion of food, & food is great. Be prepared to wait for a very long time, hours even on occasion. This last visit we were being forced to rush. To-go boxes dropped off on our table while we were eating, check came early while still eating, dessert came while we just got our food. They were trying to push us out due to crowd, which I understand, but it was a bit pushy. Giving a 4 star instead of 3 due to this & my previous visits.

This was the worse Lasagna I ever ate. Tasted like the sauce came straight from a can, acidic and no spices in it. I got the cheese Lasagna and thats all it was, no ricotta just a mouthful of mozzarella. Ate 2 bites and took the rest home to give to a homeless person. Expensive and doesn't taste anything like good Italian food.

I ordered the Lasagna, it was very chewy. Seem like more cheese than The Pasta. My girlfriend tried a little bit said it wasn't too bad.🙄 Then why not to say it didn't have much flavor either. It's been a little while since we've been there but usually we like that place. Maybe it was just an off night Or I got the end of a Lasagna Pan?

Awesome place to eat. Great service. We checked in at a busy time, hostess said it be 45 min, they sat us down within 20-30at most.
Which worked great because we would have been late to the father daughter dance with my 3 girls.
Our waiter was also awesome and always came around and che ke on us.

I love this place but the waitress in the bar area was unattentive and there was only a few other people in that area. She took ten minutes to ask us (party of 2) if we wanted a drink and to order food. (not too big of a deal) but it took 40 minutes to get our food which was luke warm at best so who knows how long the food was sitting waiting to be served. We took 3 bites, asked for boxes, paid our bill and left. She was oblivious...

My husband wanted to have a very special 70th birthday dinner for me with my family. He was told we could call at 4:00 pm to get on a wait list. At the phone call at 4:00pm we were told they are not doing a wait list tonight, only first come first serve. When we got there with our family it was a 2 1/2 hour wait. Very disappointing that they misled us. It will be a very long time before we go there again!

This is a joke. How is the place rated 4.7 stars?? If it were in any other place in the world where they have even heard of Italian food, it would rate 2 stars at best. This is not Italian food. Far from it. Get a clue people. Serving pasta, pizza and dishes overloaded with garlic does not make the restaurant an Italian restaurant.
Check the caprese dish with greens, tomatoes, “mozzarella” and BLUE CHEESE. BLUE CHEESE! Who ever heard of blue cheese on a caprese salad?! This an absolute disgrace! And the place is packed almost daily for goodness sake. Didn’t anyone think of opening a decent Italian restaurant in this area? It blows my mind.

Great food and drinks. Great atmosphere and service! Try the smoke house pasta!

Food was ok. Nothing special. Too much cheese. I think my waitress was Janice Soprano: not good. Not going back.

My wife had eaten here but I had not, so we decided to go there for our anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. When the food arrived, the portions were quite large. The food was also delicious. I think we will become regulars, as it is close to our home, too.

As an Italian transplant from NY, I've found Mama Carpino's to be the best I've found in SoCal. Excellent food! A good service deli. Excellent, friendly staff - I'll be back!

Generally outstanding but our take out was lacking the salad although the dressing was included.
So not too happy at this point.

It was my first time there and I enjoyed what I had. I'm going to go back and try some of their other dishes.

Update: I’ve been quite a few times since my original review. Service has definitely improved and I’m so happy because this is one of my favorite restaurants in the HD.

Food is delicious but service is always less than subpar... waiting upon waiting for anything requested. Staff just talking and not attentive. It’s such a bummer because I really love the food but can’t stand how long it takes to get service here.

Well, where should I start....this place surpassed ALL expectations and was amazing in every way. I haven't praised a food establishment this much before but literally everything was so great. Food: absolutely delicious. Service: fast and very friendly. Atmosphere: feels cozy and high quality. You would not expect such an amazing joint from the area and not so great neighborhood outside, but my goodness was everything so delicious and just right. Ordered the tomato soup and baked ziti and it was all very delicious. I will recommend and come back again, 11/10 😁!!

I would like to thank Brandon, our waiter last night. We had great Christmas party at our reserve room. He's very attentive and organized. He did not missed any order. He checked on us make sure we are ok with our food, drinks and comfortable. Great service Brandon. Also, he did not have any help. He took careof the order, drinks, picked up dirty dishes, took care of our checks. He deserve a raise. Thank you Mama Carpino for accommodating us every year and thank you Brandon for serving us.
