J & M's Bar & Grill

My first impression walking in was that this place is definitely a mom and pop shop. It seems so much more once you actually open the doors and realize how large the entire restaurant is. They have a full size bar alongside the restaurant. Everyone was friendly, including the customers. They have a very warm and homeful feeling like you could ask for an extra piece of bacon sitting at your own dinner table. I had the suggested Chili Verde Omelette with biscuits and gravy as my side. It was unexpected and I know everyone makes dishes different but this was a very good solid flavorful Chili Verde. Not spicy and still has all of the flavors you're looking for in a dish like this I would recommend coming and trying this place out.

Randomly chose this spot for my friend’s bday Friday 8-4-23. Food was excellent. Server was excellent. Atmosphere was nice and quiet. You can hear everyone talking and chewing by the way. Spot seems like a ‘regulars only’ type of place. I went outside to parking lot and all you see are handicapped license plates. I support the blue line stickers. Military veteran stickers and Trump stickers. So keep that in mind if you’re not Caucasian.

Great food !!! This place has friendly employees, Great food with large portions. If your looking for a perfect place to get breakfast or lunch look know further. They are on Rosedale Highway right before the overpass.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great menu. Portions are big and they have a nice bar selection. Waitresses are super friendly and nice. Our first time there and definitely not our last. Will recommend this place for sure.

Always amazing service & food. Plus beautiful waitresses with good wholesome character. Bartender greeted my father and I as soon as we walked in. (Motorcycle friendly) they let me park my bike right up next to the building in the shade. Got me a patty melt and it was presented beautifully on fancy bread with homemade beer-battered onion rings, which in my opinion was the best rings I've ever had. My pops shared my opinion of the place. Best breakfast gravy I've ever had too. This is my first Google review but this place has me talking lol. Give it a try.

Outstanding breakfast stop. They are in the top ten of best places for breakfast in Bakersfield
They were semi-busy but I got my order within a reasonable amount of time. I had eggs, hamburger patty, fruit and biscuit and gravy. It was all very good. The biscuits and gravy are outstanding. I’ve eaten here several times in the past and it has always been good.

Sat on the patio with my dog. Very accommodating. Get him some water and a beef patty. Food was great. Server was kind and smiles.

I'm a simple man. I like to have a bloody merry or occasionally a momosa if I gotta check the wind with my pinky while I eat a long awesome breakfast with smoke breaks. If you want a lazy Sundays breakfast and you want it to last as long as a good date and end the same way with a smoke break. It's the perfect place to eat. Great food great staff without the corporate greasy near the freeway dumps your used to. Great patio to let the kids shake when they can't be good one more second.

Look I have constantly driven passed here but never really thought of stopping til today and I am glad I did..food was great and service was excellent Alexis was so helpful with what to have and I had the chili verde omelette and it was very good it was so filling I didn't even think of food the rest of the day and it was busy but Alexis made sure the coffee cup was full and about the coffee I never had 3 cups anywhere I go and the coffee was so good I had 3 cups..so thank ypu Alexis for your hard work and still smiling I will be back...management please recognize the hard work Alexis puts in.

Great food and convenient breakfast spot to park the truck and get an early meal. Just fine for one or maybe two tractor/trailers (on the dirt) but not much more parking space than that.

The French toast was pretty good. Most items are comfort food quality, you get exactly what you want with no surprises. The food, place and service is not impressive yet I would probably return as a to go order if I was craving a nice hearty homey breakfast. We were greeted warmly at the beginning and our order was taken immediately. However we got our food in spurts so for example my daughter got her food when everyone else was half ways. She also forgot my daughter's food and I had to remind her. We also never got refills on coffee (so sad) nor on the other beverages. We were a party of 5 people and the restaurant was not busy. The servers were doing side work and talking amongst themselves. I also never got any condiments so I had to get up and serve myself from another table. They were nice and smiled but neglectful.

Small town diner with plenty of room. They keep the place up well. The wait staff are on the ball and everyone is treated like they're next door neighbors. The food comes out made well and fresh, and served quickly.

Had a breakfast date w the hubby here. Not our first time. This is a nice, quaint restaurant. Nothing fancy but everything is great! The decor is cute and chic but simple. The food is cooked here, they're not frozen and heated up. It makes such a big difference compared to the big name restaurants. The price is good for all the food you get. We really enjoy their breakfast sausages and chicken fried steak the fact that they're home made and cooked there make them so much better 👌 The servers are very attentive and personable. We never have an empty glass. All the employees are always smiling which is great to see. The bathrooms are also clean. Overall, always a great experience and would always recommend for good food!

So saw the review by John Haberkern and said to myself, "if John likes it, I gotta try it". The breakfast was great and the service was very friendly. My only critique would be that they could add a little more sausage to the B's and G's, but really good flavor.
