This was my first time trying this place and the pastries were very delicious and soft. I took the pastries to go and toasted them up for 5 minutes and it tasted so much better. The coffee tastes good and I like how you can taste more coffee than sweetness (I tried the toffee crunch ice latte). My favorite pastry was the strawberry twist and the croissant which had chocolate filling inside.

The whole staff is so sweet and caring for their customers. I got some bread to go. The corn bread is to die for! (Forgot a picture) Amazing tho. I recommend.
I also got mole while my sister got chilaquiles

The food was seasoned so much it couldn’t be eaten. My mom had the eggs and they were barely cooked and were cold. She also had biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was very sweet and the gravy was cold. The taste was an unnatural combination. We were very dissatisfied. When we told our server about the problem, she just smiled and said she would pass the information on. On another visit we had a dessert. It lacked taste and was very unpleasant. Some of the desserts look pretty, but are unenjoyable. The water tasted good and it was served in glasses instead of plastic. That was a positive.

The server was nice and efficient. When you walk in, they ask you to wait, not enough people in shop to wait that long. Let people seat themselves. The potato’s were way too spicy, The White of the egg was not cooked, the bacon was OK. My companions avocado sandwich was not tasty at all. I don’t think I’ll go back because there was just too much wrong with the meal, and I was surprised that it wasn’t as good as what I had read about. They definitely need two servers on the floor. Possible the bakery items are great, but we did not try any.

I really enjoyed the turkey sandwich that has brie cheese & cranberry aioli. That brie and cranberry goes so well together. I want that on a weekly basis.

The place changed since the last time I went. It is sit-down service now. I tried something new for me - chili verde omelette. I've never had this in my life, I don't like spicy, but this was good. I think other people would say it was great but it was my first time so I'm not sure - it was good to me though. The hazelnut latte I ordered was absolutely delicious though!! I'll be back to try more!

so I just moving into town and I decided to check this nice cafe on such a lovely part of the city in Bakersfield. let me tell you that the staff is super friendly. The cashier was friendly and I think her colleagues are exceptional. The Cafe has a nice atmosphere and its bright a perfect place to come bring your date. The coffee is phenomenal. The place is nice and vast enough space for people to walk around. Furthermore is clean. I think If you're traveling from any state to California and you have Bakersfield in your view come check them out. The pastries are to munch for.

This was our first time,the meals we had came in a large portion, very great service the prices for dinners run approximately $20.00 but the size of the portions were large,excellent service,look forward to going back ,excellent desserts definitely not a good place if you are trying to loose weight

DONT BRING UR DOG HERE FOR THE PATIO. There were no menus outside so I stood just inside the door and waited for someone to acknowledge us and give us a menu or some direction. After being ignored by passing servers twice I took a few steps forward and continued to wait as I looked around for a menu. Finally a woman from the back rushed over and announced I needed to leave and could not bring that dog inside. Before I could respond she turned her back 2 walk away so I said "we just need some menus we were going to eat outside". Instead of responding she ignores me and the table she was now standing at says "no lady u should have never brought that dog inside their doors!" The server continues to ignore me and not turn around and acknowledge what i said so I just walked out. BESIDES THE FACT THE HE IS A SERVICE DOG AND WE HAD EVERY RIGHT TO BRING HIM IN AND EAT INSIDE, I JUST WANTED TO ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL MORNING AND EAT ON THE PATIO. I have spent the last 25 years working in and managing restaurants and the last thing I would ever do is be rude to a server or thier managment. There were 2 servers and 3 tables with people in the whole place, no reason I should have stood there with a dog for that long just to be so rudely spoken to by the staff and then yelled at by a customer for just asking for a menu so we could eat on the patio.

The best cafe/bakery in town plus they make food as well and have dine in and outdoor dining, this place is going to get big real quick where they will need more space for the customers that come in and want to eat in. You have to try this place it's not disappointing it's worth the money for sure! My go to place for breakfast and lunch.

Most of our order was wrong.. bolios were incorrect and there server kept forgetting our order and rang us up wrong but she was a nice person. The cinamon rolls were not good. The frosting taste funny.

I have been a patron of theirs since they opened and have seen the transformation. Service has always been very friendly and honest. There hasn’t been a single thing in the menu that I haven’t enjoyed and I try to get something do every time. The chef is creative and only uses quality ingredients. Care is crafted into all of these items.

Food was definitely delicious! Place was so clean, and inviting, I was unclear as to how we order, in the sense that they have a counter that looks like it's walk up to order. When I asked, the waitress/attendant, she explained she'd take our order from any seat we choose. After we ordered, our drinks, our waitress was off shift and another waitress took over. After that, she did not pay any attention to the customers. She was so busy wrapping utensils in napkins, and it was not even busy, also, had not even paid any mind to the customers who were there. (Only 4 people in total) Didn't refill our drinks, until I finally got her attention, didn't bring napkins, didn't even check on us. I was very disappointed with the service, as it was the only thing lacking. Imma still go back, but, I don't expect great service, so I guess don't mind going in knowing this.

Tried this place for the first time today and the service was awesome! Their whole staff is so kind. I accidentally ordered the wrong item and the staff kindly remade it. The food was bomb and the bakery is so cute! Will definitely be coming back

Terrible! Almost poisoned my family and sent us to the hospital. Ordered a “fresh” cake on Monday only to slice into it and discover molded fruit and insides less than 12hrs later.

Was only offered a gift card, as oppose to my original payment method of cash.

Would never recommend this place to any being nor condone such unethical and unsanitary practices that jeopardize one’s health.

The food is amazing had the torta De chilaquiles with the country potatoes and the potatoes were just a lil undercooked but the torta was great and so was the mango tea! Would definitely recommend!

Second time coming here and everything was good! Definitely different set up from the first time I came, but don’t mind (it is sit in now). Had the chilaquiles, pomegranate tea, and some real tea with the homies.

The customer service and the food here is next level! They treat you with such kindness and the food here is obviously made with LOVE. Melanie & Cindy provide the very best customer service. The price you pay for is quality ingredients and quality chefs. The sauces that they have are all made to order and are also amazing. I always eat my food too fast to take a picture but try the steak salad if you get a chance! You will not regret your visit here.

Went here because they said they had Pineapple upside down cake. I purchased 10 of them as they were mini bundt cake size for an employees bday luncheon. They looked good and promising. Upon tasting them they were just a white cake with a slice of pineapple on top and a little caramelization but definitely not a pineapple upside down cake. I give 2 stars for this reason. It was not bad but not pineapple upside down.

Our waitress was very welcoming and sat us right away! The atmosphere is so chill and cozy! I ordered the turkey pesto sandwich and an iced hazelnut latte and they were both very good! I would recommend this place to my friends:)

I’m not too sure we will be making a next visit. My first question I should had ask what was fresh in their display. Half of our order we threw out because the bread was rock hard. We had placed our bread in the microwave to soften them up but they were not enjoyable to eat. The price was not worth the product.

Nice atmosphere, clean, friendily staff. There menu has good variety with some hispanic homage. We had the multi berry cheesecake, tres leches french toast, and the chili verde burrito. They were all plated well, and prepared with care. Can't wait to come back to try other items on menu.

Went here tonight for desserts. Ordered 4 cupcakes, an eclair, and a cream puff pastry. It was close to closing when I went in and staff were focused on cleaning up to leave. Everything lacked flavor with the most prominent flavor being freezer burn. The cupcakes were very dry and the flavor was comparable to cheap grocery store cupcakes. Definitely not worth the $30 price tag.

So it was just about lunch time and my wife and I were talking about what we should get that will bring peace to our hunger pangs. We had absolutely no idea that this bakery existed, but with the very first bites we knew we would be returning pretty frequently. Each item we tried was baking perfection and they have an extensive menu. After we quelled our hunger, we decided that it would be wise to take a full box of the pastries home…but we shared one of those on the way home.

If you love a great bakery, stop by and enjoy the excellent offerings, each of which is a crowd pleaser. Amazing in every way.

First time here and it was great. Family had the Crossham, tres leches french toast and the chicken and waffle. Everything was hot and fresh. French toast was rich but not too heavy. The chicken was cooked perfect with the waffle and spicy honey. I tried to buy some of the honey but no luck. The crossham had freah ingrendients and bacon was really tasty. You order at register and they bring the food out. Comfortable but not sloppy and the service wqs good. Will be back!

Honestly I just moved out here in Bakersfield like a year ago and this is my go to for desserts, food and just to hangout the ladies hear from the front and back of the store are absolutely amazing the food is always top quality made with love I say because my food always comes out amazing my favorite coke sandwich is the cranberry turkey, I love the Chile verde plate, and the bbq burger I know everything else is great as well but these are my go to dessert wise everything there just because it’s made so fresh amen amen

The first time at this restaurant was a mixed bag. When we arrived, the small café was very warm and the only table available on the nice patio had no shade. We eventually chose the too warm inside. Eventually, the crew turned on the AC, which helped immensely.

Our lunch salads and sandwiches were truly wonderful and fairly-priced. I rated the food at 4 stars instead of 5 because they offer only sweet teas. We chose alternative beverages when we learned they don't carry unsweetened tea. We did not try any of the wonderful-looking bakery items. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Young married couple just getting started and they are off to an amazing start. They serve a variety of culturally dishines ranging g from Italian, authentic Mexican, and delightful drinks. The care that is given to provide exceptional customer service is very evident as shown on their faces. This appears to be a husband and wife team. It is hopeful that this small establishment grows into something special in Bakersfield.

Their bread is tasting and looking very nasty lately and I go here.almost every other day...... I'm not anymore..... I've tried to give hope that maybe it's the baker they have that day....but no it's all the time. The bread doesn't taste as it use to and the more time passes the more they look more naked and taste hard on the conchas. But they have friendly service to serve you them and get you on out the door 🤣. I mean look at these pictures.....imagine the rest if i were to buy the amount I always get....I'd be pissed. Shoot my visitors would be too.

I personally believe this is the best bakery in kern County. Tried many of the different breads, including donuts, cupcakes, flan, Mexican sweet bread, including their sandwiches and salads. Great customer service

If you want a disaster this is the place to order. I ordered a tres leches cake these cakes are suppose to have a tray at the bottom this cake didn’t. The tres leches leaked through and made the cake move around. I tried to reach out to let them know about the situation. Didn’t hear from them. I will stick to just ordering my tres leches cakes from Vallarta supermarket

This is factual: I know food and I know breakfast burritos from many places in other areas of California. This was my first visit and I spent a good amount of my hard earned money. There's literally just one egg added inside the burritos. This might have been the chefs off day in the kitchen or they didn't have enough eggs. I ordered two burritos, they're fairly large but no matter what burrito ingredients: sausage, eggs, potatoes, chorizo, are not evenly added and distributed. The tortillas are just weird. The tortillas were very dry and breaking apart easily. A burrito is mainly meant to be held to eat and I could not do this. The pricing is too high for a mediocre quality burrito. The staff were cordial but I wouldn't recommend tips if prices are high and food is mediocre. If they don't care I don't care, especially if their business has future hard financial burdens. The food is not getting quality checked by the owner or they just don't care. The burritos i received should have not left the kitchen until they were properly made. Either way there's plenty of other food establishments in the area. For the price I'd have more control of my satisfaction at a reputable sit in restaurant. Just be aware if you end up visiting this place.

Beautiful baked goods. They look top-notch. The place had a few big downfalls, though. The first thing is they had entirely too many meal options on the menu, especially for a bakery. Also, none of the menu options had any descriptions. It was also handwritten like a child writing a Christmas list on a post-it. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was exactly like I thought. The waffle was amazing, and the chicken batter was powdery, and chicken was overcooked. All together, I think the place has a lot of potential, but they are trying to do too much, and their quality is suffering because of it.

Got the biscuits and gravy. It was really tasty. Their bakery section is very nice and fresh.
Only disappointment was the OJ; looks as if it were fresh squeezed, but it was not. Tasted like minute maid OJ or something bad from the gas station.

I was taken here by my family for a surprise birthday brunch! EVERYTHING was A+++. Atmosphere, staff, food, pastries, ect... One of Best all-round dining spots I have been too. I've been in Bakersfield since 1976!

Great Bakery and food. We go atleast every week because they have the best flan , muffins and pound cakes. Their warm Chai tea is delicious .we are always greeted by Melanie who is so kind and always gives us excellent customer service. Highly recommend

Cute area really liked the inside however the food wasn’t it for me, the chicken and waffles sucked there was no seasoning and very dry didn’t have much taste to it at all. The pancakes were ok not much better then pancakes coming out of a kitchen I asked for a side of strawberries, and I got one strawberry cut into pieces wasn’t enough syrup the eggs were very dry and hard sausages were horrible. My son said the French toast was good but that’s pretty much it for our breakfast. I also got some pastries just to try out other areas of the restaurant and they were lacking as well. I had high expectations for this restaurant but the food is really lacking, customer service was great however I won’t be back because of the food.

Went in for a ready to go cake and was pretty disappointed. I purchased the tres leches cake and it was very dry. Besides being overpriced for the size of the cake, I was also not happy with the customer service. I was literally the only person in there and the worker took her time to attend me, she also kept getting distracted when she was wrapping up the cake and took too long.

This place had a huge bunch of options and a big bakery section to try different things! I will recommend the cookies and the tres leches cake. Unfortunately couldn't try a lot but guessing their bakery items will be good. The coffee is okayish but does the trick if you need caffeine.The staff seemed a bit new/ inexperienced but they were very sweet and patient.

All of the items tasted old, the owner was very rude and unprofessional when called regarding my refund that I was promised to recieve back when I called the night before! Will never waste my money here again

Was my first time at this place and i loved it! I wasn’t sure of what I wanted and the guy at the front was super patient and offer me options and recommendations, I don’t remember his name but he was awesome and kind. I ask for a surprise me coffee and Sydney made me a delicious coffee. Definitely coming back not just for the food but for the awesome service.

The pastries that we got were really good. The hot dog was a little weird. But I think it's a different type of hot chocolate. It was still okay. Seems a little pricey. But I suppose that is the normal for pastry shops.

So good! Had a sausage breakfast burrito and it knocked my socks off. I’m avoiding sugar for the moment, but the bakery items looked amazing. Really nice staff. We will have to return soon.

Everything we've tried here is amazing. Great atmosphere and so friendly. Had the Salmon Lox bagel and the Verry Berry Salad with Caribbean mango dressing it was delicious! Definitely recommend.

Turkey and avocado with provolone cheese, excellent sandwich.... exactly what I had been craving and was not disappointed!!! And the Very Berry salad was just as excellent!!! They didn't skimp on portions, or flavor!!! We highly recommend!!!

I just had the most delicious breakfast! Yes this is a breakfast stop! Of course, all the delicious pastries are still there but now they have added breakfast and dinner to their menu. The Greek omelet has egg white but
I ordered it eggless ( #allergygirl ). I asked them to add protein so they used Italian sausage, with the spinach, feta, and onions. It was served with a side of potatoes that were baked then pan fried lightly in olive oil and sour dough toast. I asked for a side of their green Chile salsa. If you don’t like bell peppers mention it because even though that isn’t on the description my dish had them. I just picked them out. Just look at my pics to see some of the yummy baked goods they offer. I have to say this is my new breakfast go to in Bako!

I would have loved to have tried this place out but the service was extremely slow for the shop only having three people inside. Also I’m old school, if you’re going to help another customer who is not waiting in line then say so. I went in 11-3 at about 3:15 so there was no rush and plenty of selections but noticed immediately no acknowledgement or we’ll be right with you. I waited a bit longer but left after the lady behind the counter began to make a coffee for a man who obviously was waiting on his order. Again I’m old school so just a small acknowledgment would have kept me there to support.

Beyond “OVERPRICED”. I have never plaid that much in a bakery for one sandwich, two orders of fish tacos and 5 pastries the bill came to $150. All I can said is overpriced overpriced and overpriced.

Their Food is Amazing!! The Meatball Soup (Albondigas) was the Best I have Ever tasted in my Life (it put my Recipe to Shame 😞) their Donuts are Super Fresh and Delicious (only $10.99 a Dozen)!! This is Definitely our New Favorite Spot to Dine!!

Breakfast burrito was okay, but the tortilla was horrible. I assume it wasn't a tortilla, but some sort of gluten free wrap. It was thick and flavorless with a strange mouthfeel.
The donut was good, but SO sweet.

First time here. Got the croissant sandwich and it was filling. Small quite place to relax and have a breakfast. The doughnuts are amazing and service was great. We will definitely be back.

Had a custom number cake made from them. The strawberry flavor was so so good, we were all obsessed. We also got banana nut, it was a bit on the bland side but still good. We messed up the icing on the 4 while transporting it but it looked perfect originally

Not only was it beautiful; it was super yummy too!
The owner took my vision and made it come to life... pictures do not do it justice! The cake itself, the gold flakes, the filling, fresh strawberries, icing and even the fondant were absolutely delicious!!! All my guests absolutely loved the cake! Thank you so much Bread&Honey] !!!

Bread and Honey, not just a bakery, but serves a delicious lunch salad! I also took a quick sample of their clam chowder soup, which was excellent.
Very attentive staff and brings your orders out quick. Which is important to a bunch of teachers on limited lunch hour!

Went in 5:45am ready for coffee and a chorizo bollio. Note on a bag as soon as I walked in "No coffee right now" strike 1. Looked for bollios didnt see any so I asked for them. Um let me check when they will be ready, in an hour! Strike 2. Ok what about breakfast menu? Oh that doesn't start until 7:30. Strike 3. Me to self "Why do you open at 5:30"? Why do you say you are proudly serving Bakersfield Coffee Co. Coffee then do not have any?
Ruined my whole breakfast plan. What a way to start my workday!

A friend was telling me how happy she was with the retirement cake Bread and Honey made for her father, so I wanted to check it out. We ordered a white cake with buttercream frosting and raspberry mousse in the middle and it was beautiful and delicious! The thing that made it even more special to me was that the employee was super attentive and friendly when my mom picked up the cake for me and she even helped her take the cake to her car. Thank you for making my birthday special with your talents and your kindness. 💙

What can I say... I'm not big on sweets but this place is excellent. Donuts, Mexican pastries, cakes, and even bread loaves!!! They do breakfast and lunch too..I tried their charizo breakfast burrito and it was wonderful. They serve Bakersfield roasting company coffee as well. The only down side here, it's really pricey. But the service is great, very friendly staff and good food.

3 of our 4 food items were very good but wildly over-priced compared to local competitors. Everything is made fresh so it's not exactly "fast-food" and they don't have prices on most of the things on display. I suspect Seattle-based prices along with cost of rent dictated the value they place on their products. We had a breakfast burrito, 2 sandwiches, and a croissant sandwich. The healthy sandwich had almost no flavor, and the liberal use of lightly seasoned potatoes acts as filler to undercut the value of everything else. The croissant is great, very heavy-handed bacon and cheese though.

Definitely did not meet our expectations and most certainly was NOT worth the hefty price the eclairs and cream puffs are full of rice pudding I almost choked on a big white chunk it was soo gross we will never go there again!!

It's ok but real expensive. One croissant sandwich is 14 bucks. I bought 3 pastries and said sandwich for 25 dollars...whoa ease up on these prices

Carrot cake was diggity dank. Chorizo burrito was so good I slept all day! Quality over quantity it seems, great date spot with ice cream next door. If its too expensive for you, cheaper options are available around town so stop being a loser, variety is the spice of life.

Expensive. Inquire the prices of the pastries before being checked out as there weren't many prices listed at the time. These pastries and a few donuts can add up very quickly. The quality is good enough but not sure if will go back.

Disappointed!!!
After waiting in a very long line, my husband asked SEVERAL times how much a dozen donuts was. He was told $15. While selecting the donuts, he again asked about the price and was told $15. He proceeds to add an order of chili and a loaf of French bread. He gets to the checkout and was told $50. Really??? The cashier proceeds to tell him the donuts were over $30. My husband speaks to the manager to explain, and the manager says "sorry" and walks off. My husband left the donuts there and purchased the chili and bread. The chili was ok and the bread was just alright. From now on we'll stick to Angel Donuts where the service is better and the donuts are AWESOME!!!!

Amazing Breakfast burrito! I had the chorizo and egg and it was delicious! Loaded with high quality chorizo, homemade flour tortilla. Simple and yummy. The bread looks great so I have to come back to get some. The place looks nice and clean, great coffee too. Black coffee only. My only suggestion. Water for customers.

The first thing that hits you as you approach the door is the wonderful, rich aroma of fresh bread and as soon as you walk in you're greeted with a colorful array of baked goods from large conchas to rustic donuts to sweet and flaky pastries to golden loaves of bread of various shapes, styles, and recipes. Everything here looks absolutely delicious.

Currently, they are feeling out what items are popular so their baked goods are on a rotation of sorts - the friendly store clerk informed me that as much as 70% of their selection will rotate day-to-day for the time being. On Thursday, I purchased a mini-pineapple upside down cake that was both sticky sweet and perfectly moist, a flaky and tart cherry pastry with vanilla curd, a rich chocolate muffin, a not-too-sweet/not-too-tart blueberry muffin, and a very delicately crafted pistachio and chocolate covered cannoli.

The prices are nice, the staff is friendly (albeit unmasked, if that's a problem), and everything was delicious. My wife and I will absolutely be return customers, we're ecstatic to have something a little more upscale this far south in town.

Go get you some Bread & Honey baked goods! You won't regret it!

Legit bakery and breakfast spot! And great service.
Picked up some pastries. Plus a couple breakfast burritos to take home. Coffee is legit too. Fresh roasted African blends.
And purchased a sourdough loaf, right out of the oven. Need I say more?
I wish they had this place near my home in Los Angeles.

First time inside, and let me say WOW! First thing I notice was it LOOKS AMAZING the bread absolutely caught my attention. So many varieties to choose from I has to try almost every single one. The employees greeting us kindly and were happy to help us. They went through the flavors of each bread which was so helpful. Definitely going to be my one stop shop. From coffees to breads, croissants, muffins, and even cakes to go this place has everything you'll need. You definitely need to try it out!
