My visit today was extremely underwhelming. I placed an order to go, and the guy over the phone said there is a 15% fee for pick up orders, which i consented to. When I paid for my food items, it was raised to 18%. This is only for ONE order.

My food was completely scrambled around in my container. I ordered the Turkey, Tomato, and Egg Omlet. The tomatoes were raw and thrown over my omelet. Except, they decided to cook the turkey in the eggs? The avocado was smashed. The potatoes had NO flavor. For almost $25 dollars on a single meal, this is quite upsetting.

I've visited before and the food was amazing. After visiting this time around, there are plenty of other mom and pop diners that offer better food quality without the service fee.

I liked my first visit so much that I came back a second time after spending $130 between 3 of us. The second time there was 4 of us so I spent more but this time we received a very bad mannered waitress who seemed to help everyone but us. We are definitely not the majority catered demographic you will see when you come in so I hope that had nothing to do with it but the way we were definitely treated badly enough to feel like this was the reason. We watched our food turn cold as it sat on the counter while the waitress helped everyone including tables that weren’t hers and pick up orders (she volunteered for everything and anything since I was next to counter and could hear her saying she could do it for whatever came up just to avoid helping us). She seemed to hate serving us and our food got cold and she didn’t speak to us while serving us just said okay but I was always the first one initiating any talk and this was rude af. She never refilled anything and I always had to ask for refills to the point she left pitchers for us to serve ourselves. I wish I never tipped her but I did, I should have written a big fat zero. If I get her again, I will request a different waitress if I ever go back because it was not the establishments fault but her own attitude. I hope you guys aren’t hiring prejudiced people.

The food was amazing! I had the chicken fried steak and egg breakfast and expected the usual fare of premade frozen but instead they make their own from scratch! Same with the corned beef breakfast- all from the chef. Add to it the diner is exceptionally clean. Definitely a place to eat!!!!!

This little place packs quite a punch when it comes to their dishes. Just simple, delicious items that keep you coming back for more. I've been a fan since the early 90s. For me, everything is worth coming here. It's just great comfort food. We get our food pretty fast and are always well taken care of. I love getting the chicken fried steak and eggs and hashbrowns and toast.. with a side of extra gravy. For sure, we come here every year for breakfast for my B-day. This place never disappoints. The atmosphere is great and the wait time isn't very long. Once you try this place, you will become a loyal customer 🥰🥰🥰🥰So hurry up and stop on by for some amazing food. 😋

This place is not worth the hype. At all. Food sat under the warmer for over 7 minutes. My waffle was cold and hard. My chicken tenders were dry and barely hot. Maybe this place was cool 9 years ago when Guy was here, but not anymore. Honestly one of my worst restaurant experiences ever. There are so many other places in Bakersfield that have better food and staff. Save your time and money. Eat somewhere else.

It’s changed! Food wasn’t as good. Bacon had no flavor, eggs were good. Biscuits were not fluffy and yummy as in the past. Little jars of jam not on table anymore. You have to ask for Jam and they bring a little in a plastic container. No butter for biscuits. Gravy was still good. Service was excellent. Of course parking is limited but always has been. I think I like Moo and Cafe Smitten better now.

Iconic Bakersfield restaurant spot —- why (?) waitress said it best “The Food is Great!” and it really is with creative and classic dishes that are well portioned for a hardy appetite.
I did a pic of the outside chairs that … if you pick the wrong time you will use to get in here. Yes they can get slammed in a moment. We came in at 7:30 maybe 10% full in 20 min it was 90% full.

Maybe I just like to go against the grain? But the food was bland. Pancakes were like cardboard. Even the coffee was bad. I feel bad for this review because lots of ppl have great things to say! But its the truth. Gave it a 2nd chance even worse. Sorry I just don't get the hype about this place and i am foodie! Am i a local? I've lived here over 20 years, but I'm originally from the big city, maybe that factors in? Don't like it. Nice atmosphere though, good staff.
Update September 2024. It's location brought me in for a 3rd chance. Three strikes you're out. Food is really bad. Atmosphere is decent. You'd figure with amount of business and buzz about this place it'd be great! But unfortunately it's not. Maybe I'm biased because I have taste buds. Local favorite...just not for me. Biscuits dry and sour. Pancakes bad. Chilaquiles bad. Over priced. Staff is about a 3. Bakersfield step it up.

Wow!!! just wow.... I don't think anything else needs to be said. After a crappy Denny's breakfast yesterday, just happened across this place by chance and it was totally amazing. The food was off the hook and the prices were reasonable. Would you believe we paid less than Denny's crap to boot?

Didn't realize Guy Fieri had been here either... found out once we were ordering as I noticed a tin plate on the wall with him and his signature on it, so I asked the waitress about it. She mentioned some episode, I forget Lol but yeah!

Next time we're down this way, we'll Definitely be Back!

My only complaint is that y'all need to promote the 🌈 bus boy - Jacob; He is friendly, attentive but most importantly takes care of the guests. His top-tier service easily overshadows the somewhat tired servers who, at times, can come off a bit cold.

24th Street Cafe is a Bakersfield staple. Awesome environment offering indoor and covered outdoor patio. Interiror decorating brings out the Bakersfield vibes nicely. Our service is always prompt and friendly. Most importantly, the food is bomb! I usually get some kind of breakfast with a Latin flare to it. The breakfast menu was available for us in the afternoon, which is nice. I got the New York Rancheros, and the ol lady got the sausage and eggs. We ordered a side of eggs and spinach for the little one, and the portions were awesome. Biscuits and gravy are options that come with meals and are soooooo good. I do wish they offered a benedict(maybe in the future??😉🤤) We love branching out and checking out different local breakfast joints, but it's hard not to dine in at 24th Street Cafe every time!

I never had to ask for a refill on coffee. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly.

I visited during a rainy day, and they bring out complimentary coffee to help keep guests warm while they wait outside. They also had standing burners to keep people warm.

The booth that I sat at was very spacious. However, the diner itself felt very cramped. Mostly due to his popularity.

The bathrooms are clean but inadequate. And the men's restroom there is only one toilet. That absolutely does not accommodate the amount of guests that they have for breakfast.

Got eggs, sausage, hash browns and b&g. Waitress brought our food out and asked if I wanted ketchup and Tabasco and I asked for both. I found a hair on my sausage patty right after she walked off but didn’t see her for another 10 minutes. When she finally came over she just took the plate and didn’t even apologize. She brought out another plate but still no ketchup and Tabasco so ended up having to steal some from another table. By this time, I wasn’t even hungry and barely ate any of it.. she eventually apologized but as an afterthought as she was walking off. My fiancé’s french toast was good though.

Food is decent, service is definitely lacking.

I will definitely be going back again, as I love the food!
I had the #16 with coffee, a slice of cheesecake with strawberries and whipped cream. I also got a cinnamon roll to go!
I sat at the counter, I asked where would be best from the person showing me to my seat, it was fast and the best service! There was one lady running the whole counter and she was wonderful. She made my very first visit there a pleasant visit and she was the best at getting everyone in and out! She even made sure to give me the proper instructions on how to reheat it. She also made sure everyone had what they needed and made sure food came out hot and fresh!

Un lugar muy agradable, recomiendo mucho la zona de patio, es amplia y agradable. El servicio es muy amable, siempre te tienen con café. La comida es muy rica, muy recomendados las crepas de plátano.

Ordered a cinnamon roll, a lot bigger than expected and great to share! Alongside the chicken and waffles. The Chicken was beautifully breaded in-house and tender, alongside having a deep peppery flavor to it. The waffles were crispy and fluffy inside with a slight aromatic hint to it.

Great food, speed and service, the waitress was super friendly. Would eat here again!

Two stars for service. A waitress seated me, I went to use the bathroom, and when I came back the host had unseated me. Said I had to continue to wait since my friend wasn't there yet. Very frustrating, if they hadn't absolutely wanted 24th Street, I would have left. The food was excellent though and the waitress was nice.
