Cafe Smitten

This is a great, cute Cafe we found on a road trip. The drinks are great! And their sandwiches were very very tasty. I had their mushroom sandwich and a matcha. I also tried their pumpkin pie. Yumm. I liked the whole style and vibes of this place.

Really great spot! Especially if you are traveling through. Easy access to parking lot, wide variety of food & drink and seating options. I had the Mocha and it was a lovely dark, dry, mildly sweet chocolate. Perfect balance! The egg bagel sandwich was great too.

Very chill vibe and beautiful presentation!
We arrived at 11 am on Memorial Sunday and the cafe was almost empty. Plenty of free street parking and also a parking lot. There is ample space in the front and backyards. Food was ok but it felt good staying here. I love their music selection!

Cute cafe to work from. WiFi was great! However expect to sit close to others in the interior.

We order a shakshuka, mint lemonade, and a coffee scone.
Shashouka was good but wish it had two more slices of bread to accompany it.
Wish I read the mint lemonade description more carefully! I thought it would've been like a mint infused lemonade but it's literally just regular lemonade with mint leaves as garnish. We tried to smash the mint leaves a bit to provide a mint taste but it barely made a difference :/ - it's still a refreshing drink though!
The coffee scone was delicious! Coffee flavoring really stood out

I had the Greek Eggs with Chai latte and an espresso shot on the side. The presentation of everything was immaculate and charming. Food was delicious and served in an old-world frying pan. The condiments that come with the Greek Eggs were amazing and flavorful.

We stopped by here for late lunch and ordered Moroccan egg, Greek egg, avocado toast and steak wrap. The Moroccan egg and Greek egg were flavorful and tasty and the other two were mediocre. The outdoor seating at the back was a very nice setting. Highly recommend this place for someone who wants to have a quick bite or brunch.

Ein cooles Café, welches wir uns zum Frühstück ausgesucht haben, weil es auf den Bildern einen europäischen Touch hatte. Nach über einer Woche Rundreise durch die USA wollten unsere Augen und Mägen einfach mal keine Pappteller und verkohlte Würstchen sehen ;)

Der Breakfast Burrito war frisch, gut gewürzt und das Pilz Omelette schmeckte ebenfalls sehr gut. Leckerer Kaffee und preislich im typischen Rahmen einer größeren Stadt in den USA.

Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen!

The food is really good, a bit overpriced though. The coffee and teas are high quality. It's always nice to have a family brunch here. It gets pretty busy in the mornings, so go extra early or a little later for brunch if you want to beat the rush.

Very nice hipster food café with a large parking lot. We were a 100 percent happy with the haloumi sandwich, apple pie and icecream and schnitzel strips. Teas also good, unsweetened. Recommend!

Awesome coffee/ breakfast/ lunch place. It’s usually packed but the place is huge and they have a good system in place so it never takes too long. The vegan breakfast burrito is my go to (kale and chickpeas- it is fantastic) the coffees are good, great service, I’ve tried a few of the pastries they are amazing. Tons of parking in their lot and on the street. Limited seating inside but they have 2 large outside patios.

This restaurant was a little bit healthy for me. I had the schnitzel chicken sandwich. The sandwich had uneven yeast ingredients of the bread and an overcooked schnitzel. Served with a spring lettuce side. The value was not there.

So the place is nice to look at, but the food and service are TERRIBLE. Do not waste your money. We ordered the chicken schnitzel which was insanely hard to chew. The hummus was very bland, which I don’t understand how they can have all the correct ingredients and STILL MESS IT UP. The fries were the only thing that was edible. The Bloody Mary was basically just pickle juice. The service was incredibly slow and they kept forgetting our things. This is one of the rare places I wish I can take my tip back. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

There are no paper towels in the bathroom and utensils are placed directly on the table so prepare accordingly.

I got Avocado Toast and a Latte both were very good. This was my first time here. Ordering was a very easy process, if you are not familiar with coffee their menu may be difficult to read or order from if that's what you're wanting. They had pie that is showcased next to the checkout and I will need to go back to try it because it looks delicious! If you're going in a group setting you have to go back to the front check out to order more food or another drink. Once seated they bring it to your table. Overall it was a great cafe to go into.

Passing by Bakersfield and such a surprise to find this spot for breakfast. It satisfied everything I expected of a fine local cafe - interesting interior design (with a local twist), nutritious food with nice presentation, yummy drinks, and friendly staff. The street it faces looked like a reviving old street with diverse shops (only pity they are mostly closed in the morning).

I was visiting from the Bay Area and wanted to grab some breakfast before taking the Amtrak home. The menu prices and portions are what I’m used to in San Francisco so I was excited for quality over quantity. However the food was underwhelming . 2010 Hipster Decour, vegan options, and unnecessary Matcha whip cream doesn’t warrant San Francisco prices, quality does. Restaurants in San Francisco that this place is a mimicry of charge over $10 for avocado toast for the highest quality of products, culinary innovation, and presentation artistry. Just plan taking advantage of people with these prices. 🤮

Just passing through Bakersfield and my partner found this cafe. (He made me say that!)

What a find!

Really great food selection (not pages and pages, just a good cross section - something for everyone), genuinely friendly and professional staff, and coffee so good we got ‘to go’ cups as well as we knew it would be superior to LA’s ‘hit and miss’ coffee.

Didn’t see the back outdoor area until we went to leave. Check it out, it’s so pretty!

We randomly found this cafe when passing through Bakersfield. So happy we found it. Food was fantastic and drinks were great as well.

The interior was very cool and comfortable in this 105 heat. A lot of groups were coming and going, but there was always seating available. Definitely a popular spot.

On ourvway to Fresno stopped for Brunch. There was a huge line in front of us.
To wait or not to wait, that was the question?
Thank God we waited.
Delicious Morrocan egg. Right amount of garlic and spice.
Needed a little more greens, like Parsley or Cilantro but otherwise it was perfect

Food ingredients are not well balanced at all. My breakfast burrito had way too many bell peppers. I ordered a dry cappuccino and asked for just foam, no milk, and got an espresso with a cup of warm milk. The music is wsy too loud. However, the employee that brought my food was very pleasant.

Delicious food but please consider hiring friendly staff. This morning my waitress in the sleeve tattoos was very rude and ignored my question after bringing my diet coke. A few minutes later, the same waitress brought my avocado toast and ‘quickly’ walked away in a rude and condescending manner ignoring my comment on how lovely the day is. I don’t sense a good energy from staff in general even as i kindly got up and asked for Cholula hot sauce. The food keeps me coming back because it’s amazing & quality, but please consider giving the staff a training on the importance of being kind to customers or hire friendly staff who are ‘naturally’ kind and serve with a passion, instead of just for a paycheck. This place is hip but no so much the attitude of the staff. At the end of the day, ‘kindness’ can make a business much more attractive to customers just like Chick-fl-A. If you live in or ever find yourself passing through Bakersfield go here. Great food, coffee, and people. Since discovering it I have come here every time I head to the desert from the Bay.

I come here every week and it's always nice. We went with a big group recently and still the service was excellent and fast. I recommend the sweet waffles.

The BEST FOOD EVER!! I got the waffle plate and it was the tastiest thing ever! I am not a big fan of whip cream but this one was light and not to strong. Everything mixed was the best. My family also enjoyed their food, said it was so good! We have never came here and it was a great first experience. It also had a calm environment which I loved. Plus it was pretty inexpensive, less inexpensive great quality food! Will definitely go back!

Above and beyond service. I spilled my coffee and went to get a towel to clean it up. Guy behind counter handed me a new cup and said don't worry about I got it covered.

One of my favorite places to get Matcha. This last time I went it was raining and they had lot of roof leaks. I don’t recommend going during reading season. But definitely try the Moroccan breakfast!

So far, the best coffee experience we've had in Bakersfield. The food and personnel match the high level of coffee crafting here. Totally awesome heated back patio. So worth going to Smitten!

This place is so cute and the food was great. Was expecting the "toast flight" to be small versions of thier normal toasts. Nope. THREE big full sized toast!

Best Breakfast in Bakersfield.They are different than all other American restaurants,menu is absolutely different and delicious.We were there as a tourist and all member of our family agreed about unique flavors

I so much wanted to give this place 5 stars. The atmosphere was great, the girl who took our order was not friendly, and just seemed to not care about customers dining experience. The cook was so polite, and friendly though. The eggs were overcooked, and potatoes were cold, but, the cook made it right, by redoing the order.
There was, two guys there, with their phone ridiculously loud, and the server/hostess/"girl who took our order" wasn't bothered by it, even after 2 other customers walked in, then right out because of them. The drinks were ok. The same hostess told another family, who asked for drink recommendations, that they "have a buncha of different syrups to choose from". Also, the prices were to there, but, kinda worth it.

Great service and great food. Very fast and friendly, as apposed to Locale restaurant down the street. The set-up is welcoming and decor is well executed. Definitely coming back.
