Spencers never fails. The service is great. The food is amazing and the prices have remained reasonable over the years. They are by far the very best place to get breakfast in Bakersfield.

This is a very nice place to eat breakfast or lunch at. They do get busy at times due to great food, friendly staff and a clean restaurant.
I ordered their breakfast enchiladas, they are chili verde, eggs, cheese rolled into corn tortillas. They are very good. Way more than I could eat, big enough to share.
Allison was my waitress and she was very professional and attentive, she did a great job.

Then I was told to tell someone, "It's a small place, someone seen me go into bathroom. Then, I was still made to pay full price. Accident's happen, but twice is ridiculous. Simple apology would have been nice, instead of trying to tell me that it was my fault. This place lacks "Class." Ridiculously poor customer service.

Amazing place with a really good experience staff attention. Delicious food and I really enjoyed they famous strawberry sliced syrup, yummy. I am very happy to have found this place to enjoy my meal in peace in this crazy situation of the covid-19 that is making everyone scared, but not here in Bakersfield, Ca, where everyone is welcoming and positive and will not accept this situation. Los Angeles should lift its head and do the same. Thank You for having me.

We love going to this diner for their awesome breakfast, wheneverwe'rein town. I always get their corned beef hash with eggs and biscuit and gravy. My second choice is their hot link sausage with eggs.

Food was good.. i had the hamburger steak with hashbrowns & sourdough toast.. tasted like a good homecooked meal..nothing to fancy both Server was great we had to switch because the first went to lunch.. dont remember there names but 10/10 for them made sure we had plenty to drink…. Quick to refill our cups. Seating felt a bit crowded in there felt like everything wss compacted but it is a small building overall so Cant expect much room. Overall 4/5

Came here for breakfast because of the people rating it before. Let me just say the food is absolutely disgusting don’t know why but the hashbrowns were undercooked pancakes didnt have taste. Service was the only thing good here. Giving it a 2 star

Friendly, family oriented. Always busy, but excellent service. If you like good old fashioned country breakfasts, this is your place. Best biscuits & gravy anywhere! (As good as Grandpa's, and his were the gold standard.) And their tri-tip with anything (breakfast or lunch) is excellent. 👌Thank you, Spencer's crew, for taking care of us!

We took my daughter for her b day breakfast. We thought something simple but wow, our server and the whole staff was SUPER sweet! They sang happy birthday to her and so many members of the staff wished her happy birthday! I have to recognize the whole team, this was on Tuesday 3/26! Great service

We never was waited on. One waitress, seen us and ignored us. We waited for almost 15 minutes. The waitress was watching my wife and I, kind of hiding i guess, when we got up to leave, she came out and said, I'm here now. We were already there for 15 minutes and hardly anyone was there. Those games cost you a customer that's been going there for years. Will take the extra time and go to Rosedale or somewhere else from now on. Like we did today. If she didn't want to wait on us, she should have asked someone else. Now it's like a game or something. Whatever. You lost.

Food is absolutely amazing. I remember going here a few months ago, and everything was perfect. The waitresses would go back and get/fix anything that we asked for and they were pretty fast at it!

my parents came in their anniversary cause they love spencer’s and never really had a previous problem and the food was so cold and got sent back twice. the second time it came out it was undone. when bought up to THE MANAGER (patsy i believe) of all people she said they should’ve asked for the food to be put in hold but it’s hard since they are so old. this has been the worst service ever you’ll be lucky if you see our faces again. we will be in contact with a different manager or the keener if necessary.

My first time going, me being From the south, this little gem reminds me of one of those friendly little towns, good food and good company. I will be coming back the food is really good and shout out to the cooks everything was on point. And the beautiful servers were the best.

Service: The service has been the best we received in Bakersfield, very personable. While nearly all of Spencer's waitresses provide excellent service. Stephanie is a pro. Very efficient and anticipates your needs. . All the waitresses assist each other with drink refills so you're almost never waiting for another cup of coffee.

Food: We only go for breakfast so I am not too familiar with the lunch menu. The hashbrowns, which I usually judge a breakfast place for are almost always perfect, crispy and golden brown. Country-style potatoes are also available. With some menu items, a biscuit and gravy is offered in place of your choice of toast. The guys in the kitchen do a great job. Requests for eggs have been accurate. My go-to is the Chicken Fried Chicken.

Value: Big portions for the price. There are breakfast specials for the weekend and weekday along with a senior menu available 7 days a week. The menu has a good variety to choose from. Our ticket averages $9-$10 per person (we're not getting specials).

Cleanliness: Very clean and in a safe location.

Food is good, the service is good but the overcrowded atmosphere and the waiting in line for a table is annoying despite it being a good sign. They need a bigger place to keep up with the customers. Many people leave after seeing a long line out the door.

Spencer's has always been a great restaurant. The food is good, service is good, you get your money's worth here👍 Been here many times and we're satisfied every time we leave.
I will have to say that my only gripe is they need to clean more. A lot of dust and dead bugs in the window sills and trash where they shouldn't be. Mind you, it's not something you'll notice unless you're like me and notice these small details but it's still kinda nasty.

Today we were served by Christina. She is one the best server I have ever had, she made sure all of our needs were taken care of. She really went above and beyond, she brought an extra soup and bread for my sister to go. She didn’t need to but she made sure my sister was taken care of.

The food was great! Everything tasted delicious. The portions are really big as well. We ordered the chicken fried steak with country potatoes, it also came with a biscuit and gravy. We also ordered the swedish pancake breakfast w/strawberries. It came with two eggs, two sausages, two bacon, and country potatoes. You can't beat their prices. Our waitress was on it, checking up on us constantly to make sure everything was okay. Will definitely be back.

Makes a real club sandwich as it should be without the dry turkey so many use these days. Side salad is yummy with a house made ranch not bought. Western bacon cheeseburger was really good as well as the fried zucchini.

Very good Joe's special omelette, perhaps better than at Original Joe's in SF. Good service and fairly priced for what you get. Nice stop on an LA to SF road trip. Worth driving a little way off the freeway

It is an older building. They need more space for all the crowds. There is usually at least a 20 to 30 minute wait. The bathroom is only made for one person at a time. Definitely need 2 or 3 stalls. The food is definitely good.

Was sooooo hopeful that this place would be a good substitute for our regular breakfast place but we were entirely disappointed. First the only good thing....the young waitress was very courteous and kind. So what happened? I ordered the porkchop and eggs and when the brought it out it looked promising with two porkchops that were breaded and looked like German Schnitzel but that is where the good ended. Underneath the breading was two very thin bone-in chops that had a very unpleasant gamey flavor (past it's prime meat?) that was overcooked because it was so thin. My country potatoes would have been fine if they were fully cooked but since I'm not a fan of al dente potatoes that was strike two. My wife ordered a biscuit that was almost burnt on the outside and almost raw on the inside so that was strike three. We were also not impressed with the overall upkeep of the place that is in need of a deep cleaning and lots of touchup work. Our booth area had plenty of chipped paint and torn seat cushions.

This place is just like the old time family Cafe, the one with the generous portions and really great food, and family friendly courteous servers. We got the crepes with marion berries and whipped cream today, OMG. There is no bad choices on the menu, its fresh made, and fast service. I have the iced tea and a to go cup too for the road.

Food was really good but we got really bad service. The pregnant waitress was talking with table next to us. No eye contact at all. She took our order but didn't take it up right away because she went back talking to the people next to us.. it was really rude.

I used to come to this location very often. The staff would be very friendly and talkative. Food was always good and good portions. Coffee is sooo good... Loved it. But, I do not know how they think this is good quality food.. when you order to go and asked them for avocado slices and they give you black avocado!!!! I was looking forward to it... smh.. So, disappointed.. Sad part is not the first time it happens, am not coming back..

Food was good but the waiter was rude. We went to have brunch for my brothers birthday this morning my sister had a baby. Our food barely got to the table and her baby started crying baby cried for only seconds when our waitress came up and said .. mom would you like to go boxes… we felt that was very rude basically telling her to leave. So my sister felt awkward and left and didn’t get to stay to celebrate with us .

I have gone to this place for years and this was the absolute worst I have ever seen. I ordered a steak and egg breakfast medium rare and asked for oatmeal first. The waitress brings my meal out then tells me my oatmeal will be up soon. I had asked for it first so I asked her to cancel the oatmeal cause by the time you have all the food at the same time it's cold by the time you can get to it no big deal. The steak I ordered medium rare was medium well no pink whatsoever. I cut a slice off the end then a single cut down the middle of the steak same medium well. Hash browns were burnt on the outside and like mash potatoes on the inside. Did not take a single bite of the steak forced myself to eat the hash browns eggs and toast. Eggs and toast were fine hard to screw those up. Waitress never inquired as to why I would push the most expensive part of my meal way but she knew I heard her talking with the girl cleaning my table as I walked up to pay my bill. Cashier asked standard how was everything I told her not good never asked to get a manager involved tells me they don't care just going through the motions. I paid my bill and left. This is the worst service I have ever received they clearly don't care for the customer. In a time everybody options they made no attempt to make the experience any better I'm not one to make a scene so I just paid my bill and left. I feel like I have them opportunity to make the experience better waitress knew I the steak was over cooked cashier knew the experience was not good nobody offered any kind of service. I would not recommend doing business with these people.

Had brunch (around 10:30) there today and the food was so delicious and pleasing to the eye. The atmosphere was so welcoming and friendly. The entire staff were so helpful in meeting your needs (refilling drinks, extra napkins, straws, etc.) It was as eating at home on your own kitchen table. Thank you all for making me and my husband so welcome in that Spencers Cafe family, look forward to going again. God's Blessings always to your family from my family. 🙏
