Went in for lunch around 11:30 am. Not to busy on a weekday. Food was good and service was also good. The atmosphere is like a country dinner in the countryside. Simple menu but satisfying. Prices are on point not to cheap but also not to expensive. Good place to grab a bite to eat. Would come again.

I’m a truck driver. I eat all over the state, and seven western states and this is one of the best restaurants I have ate at in a long time. I actually had to ask for a box that’s how big my breakfast was, fantastic place, fantastic atmosphere friendly owners a restaurant the way it’s supposed be!! not the way all of them are today. Thank you my new favorite spot. PS they honor veterans and have a veterans breakfast every Wednesday. I just happen to be there on a Wednesday. It’s awesome.

If you’re looking for a breakfast diner? This is the place. The food was fresh and delicious. The eggs were a bit over cooked, the country potatoes were good, not great. In order to be called country potato’s it needs more vegetables then what it had. The biscuits and gravy where exceptional, they were moist and fluffy. Cons: only hot sauce I seen was flavored vinegar aka tobasco. Second con was a long wait time to receive our food.

I needed to add that Zingo’s now Honors Veterans, retired or active duty, all branches, every Wednesday morning from 0800 till around 1000. Bring a picture of the service member to add to their forever growing Wall of Honor!

This restaurant has recently been purchased by the new owners who have done a magnificent job in remodeling yet keeping some of this history everyone knows and loves. I had the Ortega Burger with Onion Rings and hubby had the Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich with French Fries and a salad. Everything was superbly prepared and most delicious. He then had the Peach Dump Cake which was heavenly. The inside is beautiful and the young helpers were darling yet professional. I highly recommend everyone stopping by to get an amazing meal with such hospitality. Enjoy!

Wow. Can’t say enough about Zingos’ delicious food. Our group had the corner round booth - 5 adults and 1 toddler. Not one complaint: good food, friendly people, bright & clean atmosphere. Bonus points for the beautiful American Flag and veteran display on the wall. (Be sure to try the chocolate gravy - lightly sweet and soooo yummy on a biscuit.)

I haven't been here for years maybe even a decade. Today I tried their Chicken Thai noodle Salad I think it was called with peanuts & it came with it's own peanut sauce. It was nice. I hadn't had anything like that before. I did combine the peanut sauce with ranch & it was perfect! I didn't like noodles in the salad. I think I would order without the noodles next time. Our waiter was sweet as pie. It was surprisingly loud for a smaller space. You should know you need to yell to be heard/talk if you want to eat here (hence 4 stars for atmosphere). I wonder if it's always this way or only Weekends because of the extra busyness? I'd like to try their Breakfast items next.

We have always loved Zingo's. Who Zingo is I have no idea, but I do know the first owner passed and the place was bought and remolded. It is not a fancy remodel and we would not want that. It is just super friendly and welcoming. Parking is super easy in their lot. The place is spotless as are the bathrooms. There is a bar in the back through another door which has all manner of old time fun. Country music, Karaoke nights and just a great time.

Zingo's always has a few special events now and again like classic cars that are amazing to look at and the owners are there having a meal with everyone else. This place is just so down to earth, not a mean person in site. The customers are mostly local, some are long haul truck drivers and then there are the people who know you have to eat at Zingo's or you have not really been to Bakersfield.

Each table is so cool, it has adverts made right into the table for all sorts of local places. It is super fun to read. They have a large menu and everything is really good, be it breakfast or dinner.

The service is great. They are fast and friendly and if you need any information about Bakersfield these are the women to ask. They know the menu well and will tell you what is great.

We had burgers, just so tasty and cooked perfectly, salad with a wonderful dressing and coffee that never ends. We also ordered a super tasty lemonade. We had biscuits and gravy and the county sausage gravy was some of the best I have ever had. The biscuits are made there and so fluffy. We also ordered eggs and pancakes. The eggs were large and wonderful. The pancakes were cooked on too hot a grill and made them a tad tough, so turn your grill down, but they were still good.

There is not one thing we don't love about this place. They are kid and tourist friendly and you will never be rushed and you will be made to feel at home.

I doubt they take reservations. I have never seen a huge line.

Have the best time.

New owners, so that is good and bad. The remodel looks great. The service was ok. Poor servers are treated like 1099 workers. They pay for everything and then owe company at the end of the shift. So if someone does a dine and dash, that server is SOL. The food was mediocre. No all-day breakfast. The menu doesn't have many options, so it's very disappointing. I won't be back.

Nice, clean look. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We've been several times now since the new owners bought the place and the food has been cooked perfectly every time, no matter what we ordered. Today, we got the lunch specials. The French dip was stacked with fresh beef on a perfect roll and a flavorful au jus. The fish and chips were perfectly crisp, flaky, and tender. We've also had breakfast before. The meats were fresh and not dry like so many places, the eggs were fluffy. The French toast great and the biscuits with chocolate gravy were awesome (but more like a dessert). We are definitely going back more often.

I finally revisited Zingo’s after new owners took over. I waited so long because I was afraid they would change the food and boy was I right! I had been going to zingo’s for nearly 20 years because they were the only place that made bacon gravy and their breakfast was amazing. I don’t like sausage at all. Well I ordered my classic chile verde omelette with biscuits and gravy, hash browns and a side of bacon. The chile verde is bland and there wasn’t nearly enough cheese if any on the omelette. I order my bacon extra crispy but my bacon was chewy instead of crispy crumbly like before. Most disappointing of all was that my biscuit was slathered in a generic sausage gravy with chunks of ugly grey sausage. I am so sad that I can no longer get my favorite breakfast in town and will most likely no longer be a patron of this historic restaurant!

When my family arrived we sat down, I watched them take hash browns that had been sitting there since before I got there and warm them and serve them to my entire family. The reality of food has went down compare to how it was before. Overall was not a good experience...they are not as busy as the usual zingos...and i was there before lunch time and still wanted for my food, needless to say...the food was not hot after we waited. The food was sitting on country which is what made me unhappy.

ELDERLY PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE.
Cross contamination prevalent everywhere, mainly breading chicken and streak in the same eggs and flour. They store raw meats next to salads and whatnot. Very unsanitary and unclean.

The owners have revamped the kitchen and deep cleaned the place to an extreme, dont let this fool you into giving this place another try. The food is garbage.

I watched the cooks microwave 20 minute old eggs and serve them. Somebody must have made too many.

One visit from the health department and this place would be shut down. No labels, 5 pans of the same chicken unlabeled in the walk in.

My review will speak for itself in the coming months though, I've already seen the customers response to some of the food. This place has McDonalds cooks that only push out food, there is no more passion. There is no care. There is only volume. For the price and quality you're better suited to go to IHOP across the street. RIP Zingos they tried.

Breakfast is only served till Noon, menu says 2pm

I sat here and watched 2 couples get up and leave shortly after walking in.

No Chili size, waitress looked at me like I was speaking gibberish. No chef salad, no Matzerella sticks, nothing is the same..

Might as well changed the name to something else if you planned to so it so differently. SERIOUSLY

Not sure I will bother wasting my time coming back.

Love the fresh updated atmosphere, but disappointed that breakfast is not served all day long. I ended up having the chicken fried steak dinner even though I wanted the breakfast and my partner ended up having spaghetti and meatballs. Though they continued to make a fresh, not frozen chicken fried steak, it lacks seasoning in both the steak itself as well as the gravy. It came with red potato mash which also lacked seasoning. They put a different type of gravy on the mash from what came on the steak itself. That gravy had absolutely no flavor and could have just have been jelly water. The spaghetti that my partner had according to him, he was a mistake to have. Though the spaghetti was cooked well, the sauce was bland, and the meatballs could be used as a cannonball in a cannon from the past. I tried to cut through and had to put a good amount of strength into the cut. I loved eating at this place in the past and look forward to coming back after they open, but would not come back if they keep the food at this quality. Oh well, another piece of my child and young adulthood is gone into the past not to be seen.

I really enjoyed breakfast at the newly remodeled and reopened Zingos! This was on the 4th day of reopening. I gave them a 4 only because they are new and still refining their reopening. The Chicken Fried Steak is a good standard to gauge Breakfast and it was delicious! Tender, golden fried and very tasty! I thought the custom labeled salt and pepper grinders were a nice touch. They removed the center booths and put tables instead, which makes the dining room look larger and more open. The place was bright and clean but still kept some of the restaurants history in place.

I had a very bad experience at this place first time eating breakfast there when I seen my food plate I seen the ham was not well cooked it was almost cold like if it was put in a microwave just to warm up .nothing like I seen on the pictures one of my eggs was not cooked right I know what over easy eggs come out like.the other one was over cooked on the top more cooked then over easy. I took the chance of eating the ham that way seens it's a cooked ham already but not like I always eat it on other places.. the buiscut was raw from the sides and sticky I didnt eat it .well to my surprise at last minute bites a big hair went in my mouth and I took it out my mouth and put it on top of the last peice of bread to be visible and I told the waitress there was a peice of hair on my food but I dnt know if it was on the bread or the rest of the hashbrowns or the not well done egg.the fact is it was in my mouth .she took the plate took my bill and gave me 1.27 discount around there...I cant remember if it was more could of been a little more but not near 2dls
As approached the cashier to pay she was a bit rude to me and so me standing there to pay .but she was talking to a customer nothing to do with there order..so I just stand there to see what time she was going to take my bill so I could pay but I felt she was just taking her time .she comes takes my bill charges me .she comes puts my card and two receipts on the counter and tells me have a good day in a bad manner and walks away .I didnt knownif i had to signe one of them or not.untill the waitress who served me came and I asked her do i have to signe one of this receipts she said no one is for here .so why the cashier gave me both right..I felt so unwelcome in this restaurant .and I'm not the type that will make a big seen over a hair or bad service .I will not go there againg .

Unlike the other two in my party who had full on breakfast I just ordered biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were hard and dry and the gravy was just flour and milk and totally tasteless. I know you can do better Zingo

Food was okay. Sourdough toast was super stale. Chili Verde omelette and country potatoes were excellent!Service was good. The atmosphere is that of a run down cafe from the 1970s. Zingo's attraction is rooted in Bakersfield nostalgia. Time has ran out for this place.

Quiet, laid back place. Food tastes like homemade served with friendliness. We ordered 3 dishes and regretted immediately as each serving is huge. Better value for your money and its way cheaper than other breakfast places.

My family has been coming here for years it's a great diner. We love their breakfast! And the server that works their is great! Yeah I said server 🙄 there was only 1 on Father's Day! ( thats what my husband chose 🤷‍♀️) The food now has changed its not as good as it used to be and that saddens me. The chicken fried steak wasn't good at all it was burnt with gravy. The pancakes were pretty good. Everyone in our party was disappointed with he food! Ugh and that 1 server needs a raise!!!

You already know where it's located so you know the kind of people that frequent it. A family of six came in and the teenage boy took it upon himself to sit his rear end on top of a clean and ready table. Due to this we decided to leave and I told the waitress and she laughed.
