I am going to miss this place sooooooooo much. I am a traveling medical professional who is trying to eat healthy and still have it be yummy and not boring or a chore to eat. I have had another meal prep person and this company blows that experience out of the water. I like that you can see what the menu is going to be so if you have a favorite, you can look forward to that. You can order ahead, which I only did once since I procrastinated most weeks, but you also have the option to just walk in a pick from the meals available. They don't always have what you want but most times they had so many options I was good with. If you order ahead, you don't need to worry about availability. They started making this new curried chickpea salad and OMG deeeeelish! I wish this was a national chain because it would rock! thank you guys so much for being so good at what you do. I really am going to miss the good food, the convenience, and the friendliness of all those who work there. Miss you already Modern Grub.

This place is awesome! Large portions of delicious, healthy food. The variety is excellent and it makes eating healthy so easy. What's more, it is very affordable. We spend less money per week with these fantastic salads and entrees.

Modern Grub is the BEST solution for our family! We’re busy people trying to

Healthiest food in town and they have a microwave and a small table if you want to eat outside.
I had the salmon with broccoli and brown rice. It comes with a lemon wedge. Take the lemon out before microwaving so it doesn’t drain the juice.

Great experience, kind staff. Clean location. Rare find.

I am so glad I found Modern Grub! I'm always worried about going to health stores and restaurants like this because sometimes staff can make you feel dumb for not knowing anything or asking the wrong questions. As soon as I walked into Modern Grub, the young lady that helped my brother and I answered all of our questions and helped us pick the right meals for us. She truly went above and beyond. Then I found out you can order online and it is so convenient for my busy life. The meals are delicious, filling, and have kept me on track towards my fitness goals. Definitely recommend!

Mordern Grub is the absolute best! Where to begin...the food is always fresh and delicious. At times you can walk in and see them preparing the meals.

My personal favorite, without question, is the Beyond Burger. Something about that vegenaise is a delicacy. I can never have enough.

For those of you on a tight schedule and need a fit meal, Modern Grub is your place to go! Or if you simply want to try something new, I highly recommend it.

I have only received the best of customer service from the kitchen staff. Jenna, the store manager, has a positive attitude that is infectious- a very wonderful human being. She has gone above and beyond to please us the customers.

If you are indecisive one day and need something to feed the tummy try the Beyond Burger. You will not regret it!

I’m giving this business 3 out of 5 stars for a few different reasons. Generally when I come in to pick up meals (not preorder) I am greeted by kind helpful staff. However, there have been multiple times that this is not the case. It’s always a guessing game with the mood of certain staff. Today(Monday) for instance, I asked which meals were available. The staff member helping me sighed as though I’m inconveniencing her. One meal from your weekly rotating menu was available according to the staff member. The whole transaction was extremely awkward and uncomfortable for me. I would like to do online ordering but the ordering process is confusing…

If I’m not saying something right about picking up a couple of meals on the rotating menus please let me know as my goal as a customer is to do the right thing for your staff.

Staff is always welcoming and friendly. Ive never had a bad meal from them and I love the variety offered each week. Overall, this is fantastic business with a wonderful staff. Reasonably priced, healthy, and tasty!

Writing a review based on customer service which was excellent!! I bought my friend a gift card for her bday online and the gift card didn t reach my friend. So I called in 10 mins after close, and to my surprise Katie from MG picked up. I could tell she was exhausted from the day but that didn t stop her from trying to figure out how to get my friend the gift card. Even though I told Katie it would be fine if my friend got it the next day, she wasn t having it. Katie was determined and on a mission! She called me 20 mins later and sorted everything out with the owner and my friend got her gift card shortly after. When my friend got the gift card she was thrilled and raved on about how much she loves the food from MG!! So happy I decided to purchase from MG and looking forward to trying a meal or two when I visit my friend in Bakersfield. Thanks MG for being great and kind!!

Modern Grub has taken the difficulty out of eating well. If youre looking to build great health, its wise to start with great nutrition. Most people are just too busy, and the MG girls know that! They step in to fill the nutrition void with delicious and plentiful portions. Ill pick up a protein box to travel with if I know I wont be getting healthy options on the road, but theyll deliver to your house too. They love their community and seek to provide the very best quality, customer service, and relevant health information. If I could give more stars, I would. I love MG!

I used Modern Grub for a business workshop. They were professional, courteous, and on time. It was fantastic. The food was delicious and the price is great for budgets. Had nothing but great feedback during the workshop. Highly reccomend Modern Grub for catering needs. Will definitely use them again for my workshops.

I had high Hopes for this place but after trying both the steak and chicken I have to say the food was EXTREMELY bland. Even the included salsa for the chicken couldnt add flavor to the dish. I really wanted to like it since it was *reasonably* priced and looked good. But it just didnt pull through.

Had a test dinner tonight. Beyond meat taco bowl. Huge portion. I might suggest some more dressing, and add some limes. Other meal was flank steak with green beans and red potatoes. Yummy too. Steak was a bit tough, but very flavorful. 2 pumpkin chocolate chip cookies included. Cant wait to try the brownie and hummingbird cake. Placed our order for next week! Ok! How amazing is the paleo brownie! I could give 10 stars.

Healthy eating in an unhealthy world! Got the Maple Mustard Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Brussel sprouts, beets and sweet potatoes! The pork was not dried out and the veggies were stellar! This is a food prep place which sells premade meals, so dont expect hot food unless you use the microwave on site to heat your meal up.

I now understand the stereotype that white people dont season their food. This place is for people who think avocados are spicy. I am all for salt-free, sugar-free, healthy food, but these people have obviously never heard of any other spices. The salsa in their chicken bowl literally tasted like someone whispered tomato in another room and that was it. The rice and veggie bowl, on the other hand, didnt even taste like it had a drop of lemon in it, much less lemon vinaigrette. You truly have to work to make food this bland. My sister said it best when she said, I eat bland food, and this is way too bland for me. These people could really benefit from a good cookbook like Nom Nom Paleo or The Whole30. I dont say this lightly when I say the food here is inedible. Do yourself a favor and go to the Mexican place around the corner. The veggie fajitas and salsa were actually flavorful, and the people there were super accommodating to our diet needs.

With a four week rotating menu of healthy meals, Modern Grub is probably the best meal prep place in Bakersfield and possibly southern California. The majority of their menu is paleo friendly (grain-free, dairy-free, no refined sugars) and they have a full gluten-free bakery menu with some very tasty items. The rotating meals are all a standard price which some might consider a bit high, but once they see the large portion sizes and the quality of the food, the price is justified and a great deal. For a small fee they even will deliver the meals to your home or office. We need more healthy option places like this in Bakersfield and I am very glad Modern Grub raises the bar!
