Camino Real Kitchen & Tequila

Came here with 7 other people rather last minute. They were able to get us right in without any wait time at all. The server was amazing and helped in every way possible. The food was very good and we were shocked at how many vegan or vegetarian options they had. We will be back! Props to Diane she made our experience so much better.

Returned to this place and once again satisfied. Server Jessica was amazing. Thank you so much!

Been coming here a few times. Their food never disappoints but I have to say their rice is a bit on the saltier side for me. Other than that I have no complaints for the food. Just the right spice and flavor.
Oh let’s not forget the lovely live music they have on Sunday evenings starting at 6pm. Here’s a sneak peak.

We were excited to find a sit-down restaurant with vegan options. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and fabulous menu.
I tried a combo plate with taquitos, vegan birria taco, refried beans, guacamole, & street corn. My husband had the plant beef torta with corn & roasted vegetables. The food was DEEELICIOUS. We will definitely add this to our list of favorite places. We were told that the owner is supportive of plant based meals... yay 😁

We tried some different things today, we had the cheese raviolis with three different sauces and they were fantastic. I can also recommend the chicken melt ! That was super delicious! This is a new spot for sure.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night. It wasn’t too busy and we sat outside without a wait. The manager there is really nice and helped us order our food. I was with 2 vegetarians and we were able to find something for everyone. The guacamole appetizer is really tasty. It comes with some flour puffed chips in addition to regular chips and were the highlight. The vegetarian fake meat had a strong flavor but was not liked very much by the group. I had a chicken dish that wasn’t on the menu but recommended by the manager that was great. The ambiance is nice, except there were a few drunkards being obnoxious on the patio.
Overall nice place and we will come back for dinner and drinks.

Waited forever to be seated and the bar was extremely loud, ended up sitting in the dining area where we were basically ignored, ordered buffalo fries and they were disgusting, just buffalo sauce on top of microwaved fries and cheese, the wait staff we did encounter was very polite, don't know if we'll be back though. Drinks were good as well, just not everything else sadly because I had heard such good things about the place

The food was okay, the service was fantastic. Then I saw my bank account. These people stole and double charged me for the gratuity, and I gave them extra. Not only the food, do you have to check but check your bill.

Had brunch during happy hour. We sat outside on the patio. It was a bit chilly but none of the heaters were on. It took a while to be served our drinks. And not all of them came a couple of us had to wait longer. The server said she was waiting on the bar but when one of us went in the bar wasn't even busy. Food was Good and our server was nice though.

I think a break is needed until they work on their service. Over the last 2 years I've visited Camino quite a few times.

The food is always good. But the service has degraded incredibly fast. Never enough service staff and they are more focused on the bar side. The music is at a decibel where it is hard to communicate and the bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. There appeared to feces in the actual trash on our last visit.

The owner runs a few businesses in Bakersfield, this one has gone down hill. It needs some help.

Save your money, give it to another establishment until this one fixes it image. Again, just my opinion there are a lot of positive reviews here, but for 150.00 each time I've gone, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Amazing service!! They took me and husband last minute and the food was delicious! Service was fast, the restaurant was very clean. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something fresh, delicious and to have a good time !

We really enjoyed the super delicious vegetarian/vegan options on the menu, all with a unique twist but very tasty! We commend Alejandro & his excellent team for the variety of food, top notch service & relaxed ambience. I would suggest having mangonada on the drinks menu.

I've been here twice for their lunch buffet, and the food was really good. Beans and rice that reminded me of visiting my best friend as a kid. Amazing fajitas.
The staff are incredibly fun and kind and accomodating. My mother had a low glucose episode, and they were more than helpful with preparing a spot to seat her right away so that we could eat and take care of it. Everyone there should be proud of the welcoming enviorment they've created. It's hard to feel accomodated when you're disabled. This place made it feel easy. So thank you.

Glad I have a place to socialize with non vegan people. I with the happy tacos was still 3 for $5 not they are 2 for $5. With they did not charge so much for vegan dairy options, or to make happy hour tacos vegan. Hey but vegans and people that are lactose intolerant or have a dairy allergies are just expected to pay more.

Walking into the establishment I was not greeted. The bar tender saw me standing there and didn’t welcome me in. I stood there for about 5 minutes before I saw the hostess by the barrel approach it. We looked at each other and still nothing. I walked over to her and asked which door is the front entrance bc I have been standing there for 5 minutes. She apologized and stated I went through the bar door. She then said I could order from the menu or eat from the buffet. When I went and saw the mess of the questionable food that was left over, I immediately left.

The wife's steak on her salad was dry with no flavor. The lettuce was fresh, but it lacked any other vegetables. My dinner was the most undesirable dinner I 've had in a long while . I had orange chicken in a burrito, not too good refried beans as a side, that were barely warmed an turned cold before we finished our meals . I asked my wife how she enjoyed her meal. Her answer was exactly how I felt . We were both actually sad, and agreed that if this were our first visit , we could never recommend El Camino to anyone .WE will try again sometime maybe this was a fluke.

Overpriced, mediocre food. My order was wrong. Asked for one chicken and one cheese enchilada and got two chicken. My rice was cold. They charge you $4 for a tiny order of chips and salsa. They expect you to pull up their menu with a QR code. When I go out to eat, even for lunch, and I'm dining in, I should not be having to pull up my own menu. They will give you a regular menu on request, but not enough for the table. My husband and son also found their fish tacos to be mediocre. $70 is too much for lunch for three people in Bakersfield. We went there because it had great reviews here on Google. Maybe things have changed due to Covid. There has to be better Mexican food in Bakersfield.

Absolutely phenomenal! Finally found a place that has BOTH amazing food AND drinks! The menu and cuisine is so unique and flavorful! We drive across town to come here!
This week we recently came on Taco Tuesday where they have Happy Hour running ALL DAY! The (giant) BOGO taco plates (Tropic Thunder & ribeye) , small bites and happy hour house margarita with raspberry add-on already had me wanting to go back to eat there again the next day 🤤🤤
We've also tried the Real Chicken plate and birria hopes which was amazing. Even the kids' menu offers a great portion and options.
The server is always so helpful with menu suggestions and offers great customer service.
Already dreaming about when we will be back!

I would not recommend this place. Customer service and Manger will not help you. They messed up my burrito and would not fix it. The manager said "We will have to charge you for a new burrito, you can try and see if door dash will give you a refund" Today will be the last day I ever eat here. Just horrible service. I don't eat pork because of my religion and they made me a pork burrito and to slap it my face they would not make me a new burrito.

Best Mexican food in town! The service is fantastic. The ambiance is lovely and decor California cool! The food flavorful, fresh and reasonably priced. It is across town from us but we will make the drive as it is a very good experience every single time. Other restaurants take note! This is how it is done! The wait staff is incredible!

Wandered in here based on another review touting the vegetarian options. Was very impressed with that selection for sure and all of our food was excellent. Very clean environment as well but the service was over the top great! The host was very helpful getting our order taken and the food arrived quickly. Definitely coming back.

No menu, they tell you to use your phone. No. Chips or salsa at this Hispanic food restaurant unless you pay extra. The buffet is not maintained, empty food slots, dry food in many of the food slots.

I came for the buffet wasn’t too thrilled about the size portions of deserts and bowls provided for the menudo very small for eating menudo. Desert portions are very tiny . My opinion $14 is not worthy the buffet

I order from the kids' menu for my daughter, and the beans, rice, and enchila were microwaved, rice was overcooked and super salty. Don't order Asian salad, is $15 for a microwaved chicken tenders dipped in sweet and sour sauce, very small portion.

My fiancé and I come here often. I always get the surf & turf enchiladas and he always gets something different. I have never had a bad experience here until last weekend. There was a small thin black piece of plastic in my enchiladas I noticed half way though eating them...gross I notified the waitress and she removed the enchiladas off the bill and had them remade and put into a Togo box for us, very cool and nice of her. When we got the bill; $28 of cash and the rest on the card. I wasn't paying attention but my fiancé watched the waitress take the cash out and put it into her apron and charged the whole bill to the card...not cool. He confronted her and she stated that she didn't see the cash and gave us back the $. Weird because if she didn't see it how did she know how much to give back to us? I get that it could've been a misunderstanding but why lie about it? Anyways my husband ate the togo enchiladas for dinner that night and the same black piece of plastic was in the enchiladas..again. I WISH I WAS MAKING THIS UP BECAUSE I LOOOOVE THIS PLACE

This place has a white post showing an additional 3% fee IF your using a CREDIT CARD. I asked the Woman at the front desk if this applied to Debit card. She asked " someone" if there was a fee for Debit cards and she returned with a reply, stating, "No charge for Debit cards". Also, "FYI", Chips and salsa are $5.00, which was new, since the last time I ate here, in March 2023. When I received my bill, there it was the C.C. FEE. I was never asked, how I was paying.
Informed my hostess about my conversation with the greeter. She tried to tell me that Debit cards are charged, to which I informed her I would not pay that fee. She left with my card and the bill and took a while to come back with the adjusted bill. I will not be returning to this place. Over priced. Watch your receipt for these charges especially if your paying cash.

I am very happy I finally tried it out! I have been eating at their other businesses for years now. I appreciate their vegan options immensely. The waitor José was very welcoming and helpful. I love that they aren't afraid to use spice in their food. The music was happening, it was a very clean and homey atmosphere. I look forward to trying other dishes. I got the Veggie Tour and Chips and Guacamole. The Guacamole was an experience in and of itself! A tower of textures and creamy flavorful dip. The portions were spot on. I really liked the potato taco it was perfectly crispy on the outside and well seasoned soft potato inside. Everything was great though.

A month ago, had the pleasure of experiencing this hidden gem under the moonlight, and it immediately captivated me with its exquisite decor and charming ambiance. The attention to detail in the decoration truly set the stage for a memorable evening.
While it's true that the menu here leans towards the higher end of the price spectrum compared to other Mexican eateries, I believe that what you pay for extends beyond just the food. It's a place that thrives on the sumptuous atmosphere it creates. My initial visit was prompted by numerous glowing reviews, and while it may not claim the title of the absolute best in town, it undeniably serves as an excellent destination to unwind and savor a delightful evening with friends

Really good and quick service. I've had the sampler appetizer, flautas, sopes, and sizzling enchiladas and all have been excellent. The only knock is this is one of the very few restaurants in town I've been to where chips and salsa don't come standard.

I am not big on modern Mexican food and that's what is served. I ordered a torta and it was ok. It was served with fries and I would rather have had chips and salsa or beans and rice. The atmosphere and service were good.

July 9th, 2023 @2-3pm To think that my group of friends and I came to have a pleasant lunch. Till our out of conduct waiter ANGEL, had a disrespectful confrontation at the end of our meal as we leave. Saying to my friend in-front of others, "Is your name___?" "You have a friend named__?" "Because they are spreading a rumor and that's your friend can you tell them to watch out". As a waiter you are suppose to make your guest feel comfortable and bring hospitality to your environment. To bring a personal issue out of your work environment is unethical. Coming to Camino Real and having to worry about watching our backs is uncalled for and ghetto. I'd suggest demoting (ANGEL) to dishwasher, because to start drama while you’re on the clock is unacceptable. Clearly he's unfit for a waiter position and can't control his mouth when it comes to drama that had nothing to with our group. Camino Real, waiter Angel is not the face of your establishment.

Jose, the server, was amazing! My husband and I have been here many times and always get the vegan happy tacos and vegan asada fries. We had a negative experience the last time we were here, so we were kind of nervous to come back and try again. Jose showed us that Camino had listened to some of our previous concerns and made everything absolutely perfect this time. From the attention to details like waters needing refilling, extra napkins, and offering our choice of lemons, limes, or neither. To the quality of the food, and how fresh and delicious and realistic every vegan option was. This was an amazing way to end my time in Bakersfield, since we are moving. I would highly recommend any vegan or vegetarian-friendly person come here! :)

I love this restaurant the vegan options are always on point! The food and drinks are great! The only thing I think they should work on is with hostess and servers and bartenders, they always look like they are In a bad mood no personality no customer service experience they need to be professional but inviting and outgoing and have personality, I don’t know if it’s just because it’s Bakersfield but they need to have better customer service skills specially if they are going to work with people and food!

Awesome place just to sit back chill have some good food and a good drink

I'm not sure if it was because it was a Friday night or what the issue was. But we waited over an hour to finally get our full order taken and then another hour for our food to come to us. The servers have great personalities, and the strawberry lemonade was amazing !

Thanks to the bad service and them taking forever to attend us me and my lady left to bjs brewery and it was the best decision I could have made. bjs is we’re it’s at. Camino has Horrible waiters! Horrible restaurant trust me . I usto love this place but standards got really low and especially with the waiters.

Great apps. Some good entrees but some are also just underwhelming (torta ahogada) Beware: if some food is great and some food is just thrown together, it makes it look bad, even if its just average. Nice sitting area. Service could be faster but usually worth the wait.

We come here very often, love the place. Today 1/15/2023 we went in at 3:30 the blonde waitress who I've never seen there before told us it would be a 30 minute wait for a table for 5 because they were super busy, ok understood. As we wait we see 5 booths and 3 tables completely empty so my husband approaches her and asks why we can't be seated? As that goes on I go to the restroom and hear her complaining to her coworker about the conversation she has with my husband I come out I let her know that I can cleary hear her in the restroom. Good customer service should be to not talk or complain about customers out where they can hear you, do it in private at least. Took my money elsewhere for today.
