The food here was amazingly delicious 😋! The chips with their spice sauce drizzle were incredibly good even without the salsa.

I had lunch, but my boo aka the birthday 🎂 guy, had the French Toast plate with bacon. He said it was delicious.

I'm very much into the WHOLE experience and energy ✨️ at a place. I wanted to leave as soon as I got there because something was off with the energy of the place. It was an interesting experience, and for all of my fellow empaths out there, please protect your energy and ground yourself before you go.

Went for the first time yesterday. Waitress was very attentive. Also the owner and the manager ( I'm assuming) checked on us. Everyone was so polite. I had the beef enchiladas and husband had the taco combo. I myself didn't care for the beans but the rice was very good. No complaints on the food. And I really liked the chips with Mole

We have frequented this restaurant several times, referred many friends, and even recently (2 weeks ago) celebrated my husband's birthday here, all with our Service Animal in attendance.  Today I brought my daughter who was visiting from out of State and was told by the waitress that if I wanted to eat here with my dog, I would have to eat outside.  Not only is that absolutely against the law, but it was 47 degrees outside.   When I advised her of my rights she told me she was going to get her boss.  The boss never came. We left and will not be coming back!

It's truly unfortunate that individuals with medical conditions that are monitored and protected by Service Animals cannot risk eating at this establishment unless they want to freeze outside.

Absolutely disappointing.

First and second experience here were good but after today and how terrible the service was. I will never come back. The waiter was rude, ignored everything said to him, than proceeded to give himself a tip after giving us the wrong order and overcharging us. I've gotten better service at the McDonald's across the street.

Food is tasty, however they kill it with the service.
We saw the waitress at the beginning, that was all.

After that, we were constantly going to the bar to ask the bartender for things.

We got discount to stay at the hotel next to the restaurant, however, just the manager is allowed to apply it and he was not there. So, you need to wait for the person to be there.

My first time and last time I wasn't impressed, the decor is beautiful as for the food it's just okay, as another poster stated very small portions. I did not care for the cucumber water that was brought to my table, how about regular water?
The chips that were brought to the table had mole sauce poured over them, I would have preferred just chips and salsa. Ordered the lunch special a carne asada burrito for $14.00 the flavor was very good but it was mostly rice and beans (see photo this a filler rice and beans are cheap) I was expecting rice and beans on the side, however with this lunch special you do not get rice and beans and the burrito wasn't that big, my wife ordered the 3 taco luch special and that did come with rice and beans, my wife said the chicken was dull really no flavor/seasoning the rice and beans were okay. They do not list the price of soft drinks on their menu so that tells me they're probably close to $4 or more. I'm glad I just got water actually cucumber water. We paid $30 for the lunch special without beverages I'm sure it would have been close to $40 if we both would have ordered a soda. $40.00 for 2 lunch specials plus a tip think about that.

Taco stand food served on a plate!
Visited Sunday 8/04/24 around 12 noon, upon arrival we checked with the hostess there where couple of others ahead of us, the restaurant was serving a Sunday brunch price $29.95 special on the date.
Place nice and clean with a modern décor and lighting, nice tables and comfortable seats.
Mariachis where entertaining we were informed about the different options of foods available for us to eat and where promptly taken to our table, we ordered from a waitress a Michelada $13 and a spicy margarita $12 from the bar and got up to get our food the buffet is set half inside and half in the patio area, inside you there was: Menudo, Pozole Verde (pork), tamales both pork and chicken, black beans, steamed rice, folded tortillas with cheese (enchiladas), chicken mole, bbq pork ribs, cochinita pibil (NOT) just pork cushion with red chile sauce, desserts (choc chip cookies, oat meal cookies, yellow cake, red velvet cookies (no serving utensil hands only) chocolate fountain and marshmallows, cut fruit and café de olla (Mexican coffee with cinnamon) outside breakfast items eggs omelets, pancakes, crepes, a girl making tortillas, quesadillas and street tacos (chicken asada, al pastor, carnitas)
Plenty of options for sure my problem is they have fine dining on their name, and for $39.95 I was expecting more, everything is street food and comfort food (pozole, menudo) every food is cheap meat, food is bland, mediocre at most, taco stand food served on a plate inside a nice building passed as fine dining…
Service very relax and non available, our drinks had not been delivered to our table we had to ask for again, definitely slow service, plenty of employees wearing a two way radios and earphones (seen that on movies) walking around not organized, floating without direction.
We finished and waited for about 20 minutes before we saw our waitress and requested the bill, waited for about 10 minutes and she never came back so we got up and walked to the front desk to pay, our waitress was there and had forgot about us.
So yeah not worth my time or money.

Food is not authentic Mexican food. I was really surprised with the taste and food quality I thought it was going to be better. It’s more of a frozen food taste. El Buen Pastor Fine Mexican Cuisine is nestled in East Bakersfield. They offer a vibrant and authentic Mexican dining experience. The colorful decor and lively atmosphere immediately set the stage for an enjoyable meal. Cesar our waiter was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, providing excellent service throughout our visit. The food was spectacular, with highlights including the flavorful Taco ls El Buen Pastor. The menu includes authentic meals and the prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Very much complements to the chef this food is well worth the price.

The drink selection is equally impressive, featuring Mexican beers, traditional aguas frescas, and expertly crafted margaritas. The restaurant was spotless, and its convenient location with ample parking makes it easily accessible. Overall, El Buen Pastor Fine Mexican Cuisine is a must-visit for anyone seeking delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine in a welcoming environment. We highly recommend it and look forward to our next visit.

This place is very unassuming from the outside.....but inside the decor is modern, the tables are even more comfortable then the booths because of the beautiful chairs. The most important thing....the food. The food was unreal. Different traditional Mexican dishes but one region fused with another with a gourmet touch. Completely unique. Absolutely must try!!

We were so looking forward to eating at El Buen Pastor! When we arrived it impressed us! Beautiful entrance and the atmosphere was welcoming! The waitress was excellent! They served z2 out of 3 of us and my husband after waiting 10minutes had to call over the bartender to get refills. 10mins passed after they served us and my husband was still waiting for his ceviche. The waitress was taking someone’s else’s order while we still waited for my husband’s food. The manager was no where to be found. I asked the waitress for the manager she said would you like to speak to him I said yes he should be out here helping you ensuring the customers are taken care of, she said I know I’m sorry the food should have been brought out at the same time. I was still waiting for my handmade tortillas to enjoy with my fajitas that by this time 25 minutes had passed. I was disappointed that such a beautiful place can lack such efficiency in service.

This is the most honest review, if you are planning to try this place please reconsider and go to El Puesto instead. This has to be THE WORST RESTAURANT I have ever been to. Food was cold, poblano pasta had no flavor at all, meat was raw, guacamole was no good (tasted old) and over priced for the poor quality. Please do not spend your money here, it is not worth it. Also, the waitresses do extra curricular activities in the restroom

This place does not allow you to do separate tabs when you’re dining with a larger party, they are too lazy to separate the items. The manager is an idiot and is useless. He has no managing skills. When we had an issue with the tab he just walked away and left the waitress to deal with the issue. Will definitely not be coming back. Don’t come here with large parties.

The thing that really upset me was that - It was my brother in laws birthday and they confused us with another table. They took a slice of cake with a bright big lit candle on it and the waiters serenaded to the other birthday person they confused us with. When I reminded them about my brother in laws birthday again, they just tossed a slice of cake to my brother in law. There was no candle to serenade. I would honestly not go back. The food was ok but not the best.

It's been a while since I've posted, but this one needed to be shared. I'm not sure if I came on am off day, and for that, I usually give places 2 fair shots. But let me tell you about today's visit. I came in around noon. Was greatly graciously by the host who sat me quickly and promptly. There were only 2 other tables at the time occupied. Afterward, I was greeted by my waitress, who was kind and cordial, yet she lacked knowledge on the fresh drink menu. Maybe she's new... overlooked.. didn't count that in until the end. I came in alone, mind you. I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados with over easy eggs.

I noticed what looked like the manager walking around greeting customers (now there were three by this time and me makes 4) I didn't get a visit lol. No worries. Food came out at a decent time, and it was cold. The darker sauce on the picture was way too sweet. The lighter side was good, however the food was cold. There was no salt or pepper or sauce or anything at the table, and if you asked why didn't I let them know, well, I would have had someone actually come to check up on me.

I waited, but the food got colder, and I was on time crunch. So I ate it. It was a tad bit spicy and the waitress didn't at least one time came to ask how I was doing. My cup remained empty and I was using the ice to cool my tongue and quench my thirst.

Finally, I finished up and waited 8 minutes before I just got up and asked for the bill. A man named Alex I believe gave me my bill and asked how it was to which I gave him a not good answer and he said nothing. I said "ahh, (shook my head) it was okay." If I were a manager or anything, I would have followed up with that. Nope, he said nothing and handed me my bill. I gave him 20 bucks, left a tip on the table, and was gone.

Food was okay at best. I'll try again to give a fair shot. Waitress needed alot of work. You are going to have to ask for all the condiments you want up front. Slurp that empty cup loud enough so you can get some attention lol. I'm being sarcastic. Any how. That was my visit. 2 stars. I'll go back one more time. Hope this helps someone.

First, instead of chips and salsa, they serve chips drizzled with mole sprinkled with cheese..so good! We tried the Chilaquiles Divorciados, rib eye and eggs and french toast. All were fantastic. The chilaquiles had a bit too much sauce but that's because I like my chilaquiles with less sauce as a personal preference. I think that when I have them again I will ask for less sauce. The sauces themself are delicious! The steak was on point. Perfectly grilled and flavorful. The cafe de olla was so delicious. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable with what they served, and they tended very well to our needs.
I can't wait to go again for lunch and dinner. Their drink menu looks amazing. Must try!

The prettiest Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been in, I was anxious it was going to be expensive, but I was able to get two plates of chilaquiles for me and my dad for only $25???? I typically am not the biggest fan of chilaquiles, but after they took a risk by pouring their mole sauce over our complimentary chips with salsa, I was sold. The absolute best mole I have ever had, accompanied by the sweet music of my youth, hearing Pepe Aguilar’s smooth voice in a beautiful atmosphere with incredible food really pulled the whole experience together. I don’t really leave reviews ever, but this place is bringing traditional Mexican cuisine into not a modern and gorgeous setting, allowing a feeling of decadence as I enjoy my cultural foods. I hope their business does excellently.

Had a business meeting here with some clients because I wanted to treat them to a nice lunch. From the wait staff to the mezcal and food, everything exceeded my expectations. The ambience of the restaurant is unique and gives off a nice vibe. I highly recommend this establishment. -Jose

It's a really nice place. Food was great, service was excellent. It's pretty fancy in my opinion. Somewhere I'd definitely bring a date or a nice family night out. Molé is a hit or miss depending on your taste buds for it. It has a romantic theme to it as well. Very diverse authentic mexican entrees. I would definitely come again. Its a bit on the pricier side though. But definitely worth checking out.

*If you are expecting the old restaurant this
Place is way different *

I recently visited El Buen Pastor, a new restaurant that offers fine cuisines with tropical like plates from Oaxaca and Puebla. The modern and high end atmosphere was impressive, and the wait staff was very attentive and friendly. They have tacos available to order, and I tried the Fettuccine Poblano which had good chicken but the pasta was to watery for my taste. Although it was an okay dish, I believe there is room for improvement. Overall, if you're looking for a new dining experience with nice ambiance and great service, I would still recommend giving them a try.

The service was good the food portions were small the fajitas were good not a lot of options kind of limited thought it was the same as taco truck down the street but food was completely different. Kids food was generic for Mexican restaurants, just average nothing special. Also the chips and salsa at the start they gave chips with mole on them different but would have enjoyed chips and salsa as starter.
