Love this spot! It’s changed a lot over the years and I do miss a lot with the updates they’ve made. I used to go quite often, but not as much since they have stopped doing the fried green beans…those were the absolute best thing on their menu!

We do love their burgers—unique combinations with fantastic flavor profiles. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. The stone fruit salad is also a major win, as well as the tuna sandwich.

Great little spot for lunch. The interior is beautiful and unique!

My family never spent more than a meals worth of time in Bakersfield before, traveling from northern to Southern California or vice versa. While this time was no different in that regard it was certainly more memorable because of the food and people at Locale.

We arrived at Locale just after opening to a mostly empty restaurant. It was decorated in a modern, trendy style using art from locals. When we asked to eat outside because we were traveling with a dog they offered us an empty room in the back to keep us out of the cold. We were served our drinks, including a really yummy fresh made juice for my son, and given a complimentary appetizer that we all devoured.

It seems like the menu might rotate somewhat but the chefs allowed us something off menu for our kids who are picky eaters.

My wife and I ordered sandwiches that were made with fresh ingredients and well prepared. They also had a variety of salads and hamburgers and other new American fare on the menu.

We left feeling like everyone here went above and beyond to accommodate us and ensure we were satisfied with our food and visit. It was nice to get a small taste of Bakersfield on our trip this time around and hope we can return soon to try some more of the dishes.

I had the Loaded Tuna Croissant and added avocado. Let me just say it was so good!!!!! I ate it all and left nothing, the taste the amount everything was so good. I ordered a water because of pregnancy all I drink is water while some of the items on the menu looked yummy just water for me. It was lunch time so we did have to sit outside and outside in Bakersfield not the best I suggest adding heaters to the outside either floor or the ones that hang from the top but it was chilly. There was a lady singing and playing acoustic songs and it was calming the scene is not fast paced but just right. First time and went with my sister. She's been a few times. I will definitely go again. Thank you for the yummy food baby and I enjoyed it

The Fresca was amazing! Burger was juicy and had great flavor. Potato soup was good but all I could taste was sour cream really lol. Onion rings were soft and savory, the batter could have been crisper imo. Waitress was very nice and service was great!

Amazing cafe dining in downtown Bakersfield. There's murals on the walls. I enjoyed a great meal at a shaded table with the love of my life.
The salads pictured had amazing flavor and freshness. I asked for avacado and chicken breast to crank up the protein. This place is amazingly busy, but worth the wait. I will make time to come back for the great farm to table experience.

The menu said wed have a 3o minute wait for a hamburger. The acoustics were awful, you could hear people talking from across the room, then someone came in with a guitar to play in this tiny room. Since we hadnt ordered yet, and had only gotten water, we said we had an emergency and left. So I dont know about the food. A friend told us about it, she had a good experience but when she went back the second time, she said shed never go back again.

This place is absolutely fantastic, they went above & beyond, and the food was delicious!! So glad we stopped here on our way through Bakersfield. Great vegetarian options, everything was fresh and well made, and our server was so sweet. Give them a visit for sure!

They were super good with accommodating my dog, letting us sit on the patio and even bringing her a bowl of water without being asked. The fires were amazing and the food was pretty good. The service was excellent and they were all very nice. Parking: They have a decent sized parking lot in comparison to the restaurant. Probably around 8-10 spots

Do not support this restaurant. My friend works at the post office and she says all their baby chicks that arrive in boxes are dead and die from heat exhaustion and it makes the whole post office smell horrible. They order a bunch of little chickens, live chicks and half of them are dying or very ill. They order other types of sizes of chickens and theyre usually halfways dead or already dead and this is what they continue to serve at your restaurant. Please do not support this restaurant

We ordered food here with my collegues and when I picked it up, have to wait for about 20mins because they are missing one order. Then, when I got in the office, the other entree were also missing in paper bag. So I have to return and pick it up again and called them about it. Here I am, waiting again

The food is overall solid! We had the nicest young lady(Ryan) help us with our order. She brought us water with ice for our dog! We had the Tritip melt and stone fruit and greens salad. I will say the tritip is on the small side, so should order a side if you are hungry.

So I sat there for lunch today and watched while all three tables around me received complementary bread trays. My waitress didn t feel like my table deserved one I guess. Maybe you could learn a thing or two from your co-worker. Maybe a bad day? I don t know. Kinda disappointing. It was my girl that noticed it and kinda irked me.

A local gem!! Locale staff nails it every time. The pulled pork cowboy salad, the bacon & fig burger, deviled eggs, potato leek soup, even the tuna sandwich are all amazing choices. This is my favorite lunch spot downtown! Not ashamed to admit I ve eaten here multiple times a week with all their menu options! Not only are locale staff incredible, but the owner does so much for our beloved community. Ingredients from local farmers, lessons on charcuterie creations, etc. Support local! You won t regret it!

Any time I can make it downtown I always try to eat here with friends and or family. The Brussel sprout and sweet potatoes dish is AMAZING! The garlic aioli is so tasty and it is a well balanced dish. I have tried multiple menu items here and have never been disappointed. With everything being made in house, you can taste the quality. The last visit we had, the server brought us out a free mini appetizer and it was so delicious and thoughtful!

My husband and I went to Locale at lunchtime to check out the fresh food we had heard about and to hear Kelsey, the ukelele-playing singer with a lovely voice who is there from 11:30 - 1:30 on Saturdays. The food was delicious. Those are the good points. We entered and stood by the sign at the entrance Please wait to be seated for a few minutes before someone came to the front and told us to sit at any two-top we wanted and disappeared again. We sat down and waited a few minutes for menus, until it occurred to me that maybe they didnt use printed menus. I picked up the standing card on the table and found a QR code to scan for the menu. The waitress brought out a complimentary appetizer of toast points, garlic and goat cheese. Yum! There are lots of delicious-sounding dishes on the menu. I chose the Cowboy Tacos and my husband the Sweet Potato Brussel Sprouts Bowl. Our food arrived and it was delicious. We enjoyed it while listening to Kelsey. The waitress appeared again a little after we had finished eating and asked if we were all good. I asked my husband if he wanted any dessert and he asked her what they had for dessert. She said they had a croissant with Nutella. We waited to hear more. I asked You have cookies too, right? Yes, we have cookies. Clearly, she was done serving us and was ready for us to leave. At that point, we were ready too, so we paid and left. We wont be back, despite the good food. It doesnt make up for the lack of attention and poor service.

Prices do not reflect accurately from their website. My sandwich was very small for $14.50. I ordered the chicken aioli, website has the price for that sandwich listed at $10, which is what I thought I would be paying (See photo). With that being said, the chicken was super thick, but small, so not all of the sandwich had a bite of chicken in it. While I appreciate that it s local organic ingredients, I felt like what I got was not worth what I paid.

The food was good. Very gourmet, however, be cautious about the pricing. We ordered the wholly habanero and the tritip melt and each was $13.50. Then came the kids orders small burger with fries- $18 and chicken strips- $ 14. So don t make the mistake of not looking at the menu before you order. Also ask to see the kids menu. The online one does not have it listed and therefore they took it upon themselves to overcharge conveniently. The check does not show the itemized receipt. It s RIDICULOUS that the kids meals are more expensive than an adult s meal. We love supporting local and small businesses but these guys rip you off. It s places like this that ruin it for everyone. The service was hardly noticeable but when it was time to tip she was right above our heads looking for a big chunk. So take it for what you will but this place is a total RIP OFF.

Horrible experience. Waited an unreasonably long time, entrees never came. Was asked if we would like more tea, we said please, tea never came. Awful and extremely slow service. We were busier than expected is not sorry or an attempt to make it right. Paid for our tea and appetizer and left. Won t be back. Avoid if you don t have 2hrs for lunch.

Im a little late to the game with this place as it appears to have been around for a bit! That being said, dont sleep on the freshness and deliciousness of this little farm to table restaurant! Service is friendly and helpful and accommodating to my frien in a power wheelchair! I order the Best of the Best, which is half a salad half a sandwich, portion size was perfect! I chose a loaded tuna croissant and a bacon and blue salad! Every bite delicious and flavorful! I would 10\10 recommend this place and I plan on visiting again soon with more friends Parking: This is a little place in the heart of downtown so buildings and parking lot are old but still doable. Wheelchair accessibility: The accessibility is good you just have to go in through the patio and not the main door. Handicapped parkink not necessarily marked but again you make it work.

It took an hour before my toasted sandwich arrived. Cheese, Turkey, bacon and bread.... My server (who was lovely) accidentally forgot my order and it wasnt until my entire table had got their food until I was asked what my order was. When I did receive my food, everyone at my table had finished and their plates were then proceeded to be taken away while I sat having everyone watch me eat... The food was good, just expect a wait and no discount.

Just left about an hour ago. 5/4/23. Atmosphere was nice, sat inside and there was an individual playing acoustic guitar. Sadly was a downhill experience from there. Food presentation was nice, but half of our plates food was cold when we were served. Service left a lot to be desired.. more than once we got up from the table to get the attention of anyone that we could to get table service. It came to the point we started wondering if it was intentional as we sat back and observed other tables getting good service. Then near the end asked for the check for the table, and waited 15 more minutes for that while other tables continued to be served and checked on. More than likely not going back again and cant recommend this place.

Ordered curbside to go.. told ready 20 mins.. paid with credit card, got there 25. Waited 35 mins.. finally I asked where is my food, was told oh there was a technical difficulty and needed to wait another 15 to 20 minutes! Are you KIDDING! I demanded a refund & I LEFT WITHOUT FOOD!! TERRIBLE SERVICE!! Called back to report several times but evidently the owner doesnt care and wouldnt even return my calls.. Dont bother here..

Unfortunately we had to wait for about an hour to eat. Our water and champagne did not get to us until like 30 minutes later. The QR code for the menu wasn t working, and they were not very organized. They seemed super busy. We had two kids in our family and it was not fair for us to wait an hour to eat. We were super patient after an hour, but our food was not coming out, we had to leave because we were super hungry. I hope they learn to be more organized and attend their clients on time. Luckily, we found another restaurant where they took care of us right way!

The food is fantastic! The service was slow, they seemed to be short handed. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired, small, loud, not that comfortable. Would consider it a better place to just pick up and go since I heard that they have an ordering app. Vegetarian options: Vegan items are marked on the menu and there are quite a few options. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free items are marked on the menu. Less options than vegan.

I found this place wandering around 18th street after class and 6 months pregnant. When your blood sugar is low? Am I right? This place is pretty great. Love there wings and salad. Their refresher drinks are pretty great too. Cant wait to eat there again.

Although my Cuban sandwich tasted good, it was cold when it got to me. The onion rings, too, were tasty, but three of them had undercooked batter. More help during lunch rush would be a very good thing. One server cannot efficiently cover the entire dining area, even if it is a small place.

The place was empty with 1 or two clients. Server gave us an option to sit outside and we did. Then nothing happened. We sat there looking around for a few minutes. The feeling was unwelcoming and cold so we left. Sad because we wanted to try this place. Maybe next time the server would focus on people instead of making after work plans with guest.

I found this place while looking for a place with vegan options for my mom. When we walked in, we were seated right away, and our waitress was very friendly. Their menu had plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and substitutes, and I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Cuban sandwich with a side of fried green beans, and both were very delicious, I will for sure come back soon.

Food has always been good, items on the menu are not that unique or special Plus for the price thats why the minus one star. I dont mind cost if everything on the menu was organic. I dont understand the high cost for basic stuff maybe if they stuck to common theme but from my understanding some items are organic and they try obtain food from local vendors. Ive been in food industry 25 years and most restaurants try to get their food from local vendors. So basically if I were out with friends and someone were to suggest this restaurant i wouldnt say no but at the same time I wouldnt be saying lets go here as first option.

The farm to table eatery bit appears to me to be mere bluster, an empty claim for marketing purposes. My sandwich was served at about 50°F (straight from fridge). I ordered coffee and was brought black coffee, which was fine... I asked if they had cream and was told yes... but what they brought me wasnt actually cream. It was one of those tiny plastic deals full of some white liquid. The packaging made no claim of it containing actual cream (that would be illegal, as there aint no cream in there). Not a bad restaurant at all, but not living up to the bluster in my view.

Food was ok not a ton of options and only 2 options for gluten free. You could tell it was short staffed due to the wait and a lot of things at our table got missed or orders were served wrong, but staff was super friendly! You also have a 2 dollar up charge for organic grass fed beef. Over all an ok experience.

Great stone fruit salad. The Wholly Habanero turkey sandwich was really good . The pastrami sandwich was yummy. I also highly recommend the sweet potato fries. Definitely will come back again.

Delicious and unique food. Could use some more servers. The sweet potato and Brussel sprout bowl was fantastic! We were never checked on and had to summon for a waitress on several occasions.

It took over an hour to get our food. Over 20 min just to clean the table before we sat down. 2 groups of people came .. waited and left My Melt sandwich came cold. The Italian soda is really good. They ended up giving us a discount cause it was so bad. So that was nice.

This was my first time eating here. Ive heard great things and had to try it for myself. The food was AMAZING! My family really enjoyed eating outside. The drinks were on another level. This is a Bakersfield must!

Nice find in Bakersfield. The food is American food but not greasy spoon or dinner. Its more country kitchen and that goes with the local farm-to-table concept they run. It is fairly busy so if you are in a rush order ahead. But do order you wont be disappointed.

Passing through Bakersfield on our way home, menu looked interesting. Stopped for lunch. The food was impressive. The service by Fatimah top notch. Highly recommend getting off the freeway to find this gem.

If you have not stopped in, treat yourself and stop in. There are dishes to satisfy every palate. I went on a wine pairing experience so the price was higher but regular menu items are priced on point especially when you know that it is all sourced locally.....every bit on the menu.

Awesome food and drinks here. The Western burger alone was worth going downtown for. Atmosphere is laid back and there was nice live music at lunch. Highly recommend this place!

Quick Summary After reading the reviews, I was pretty hyped and had high expectations for Locale. The food was good, but a tad overrated. Food- 4 stars I had the bacon and bleu salad and it was tasty. My complaint is that for a $13 salad, I would expect a lot more bacon or a salad that would blow my mind. I also ordered their lemon cookie, which was delicious, but overly sweet Service- 5 stars Staff members are very friendly and attentive. I ordered by the phone and I was in and out of the place in no time Value- 3 stars As mentioned above, if Im paying $13 for a salad, it better be a pretty darn good salad. The food was good, but it didnt meet the hype. Bottom Line Its a well-run food joint that serves good food. But I dont think Ill venture back unless a friend really wanted to go.

The wait is ridiculously long and its for take out! Not even waiting for a table. I have never waited this long for a burger here in Bakersfield. (Almost 1 hour) I decided to try this place on a bad day because even cashier has an attitude.

We stopped for lunch passing through town. Outstanding. I had the tri-tip sandwich. The bread was excellent and perfectly grilled. The aoli was perfect with the carmelized onions. The portion was limited but I appreciate not overeating at lunch. My wife s sweet potato, Brussel sprout bowl was delicious with super fresh veggies. A must visit in Bakersfield.

Food is good. This is my 5th or 6th time here since its opening. Wait time to be served or have your food served is always way too long. Our server was by herself helping server more than 26 people (I counted) inside and out. She was very friendly, but I must have heard her say Im sorry to customers 10 times for not being able to attend to them. Hire more servers during busy hours!

Found this restaurant searching for a healthier place to eat while traveling. Took 25 minutes for 3 Sandwiches, one was on ciabatta roll from Costco, the sweet potato fries were terrible (Greasy and coated with honey), forgot the sauce, napkins and silverware. My soft tacos were sub par, super expensive meal and cookies were awful.

Amazing cafe dining in downtown Bakersfield. Theres murals on the walls. I enjoyed a great meal at a shaded table with the love of my life. The salads pictured had amazing flavor and freshness. I asked for avacado and chicken breast to crank up the protein. This place is amazingly busy, but worth the wait. I will make time to come back for the great farm to table experience.

Food was excellent... the employees were great......but the rudeness of the people tearing down the building attached to it was horrible. Locale has asked for just 5 hrs a day of quiet... yet they refuse to care about a local business owner.

Soooo delish!!! I got the 1/2&1/2. Cant believe how good the tritip melt was: 2 kinds of cheese with sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions. YUM! The stone fruit & greens salad add avocados have just the right amount of citrus vinegrette. Will definitely be returning.

Very fresh food. Service was a little slow but it turns out our waitress was actually the owner who was hustling due to short staffing so I give a pass on that and big props to her. She said the pandemic has really hurt her on staffing so if anyone needs a job she said she could use the help! She also let me order an item long longer on the menu, chicken parm with a side of marinara, absolutely delicious!

Had a girls day and decided to try out this cute little restaurant. Best decision EVER!!!! service was amazing and the food was even better! The environment is comfortable and clean and they even had live musicians! The food is so fresh that I even saw a local farmer drop off pallets of fresh eggs! The Fresca drink was by far the most amazing drink I have ever tried and the burger was incredible (even if a bit too big for normal bite). I will definitely be returning!

This up and coming restaurant has alot to offer. Its definitely a neighborhood hidden gem. But if youre fortunate enough to stop by for a bite you will be in for a sure treat. I am going to be fair with you, they still have work to be done as far as looks go, but the taste is definitely there. Do yourself a favor and stop by becuase they will blow up soon.

The food here was delicious! Particularly the sweet potato brussel sprout bowl with sriracha aioli. The tri-tip sandwich was also good. We loved the unique Italian soda flavor they had today. The water even had a hint of cucumber. The one critique I had was that the breading on the onion rings was soft instead of crunchy and tasted like thanksgiving stuffing. Even if theyd have used the breading from the chicken strips my kids ate, it would have improved those onion rings. In spite of the onion rings I loved this place. I will eat here again and Ill be tempted to get the same things instead of trying new dishes, because what we got was that good!

The food here is supa fresh..I come here atleast once a week, usually for cobb salad. The pork tacos are so tasty and the turkey bacon cheddar melt is delicious. Their soup are tasty too. I would suggest this cafe, to any one who likes deliciously prepared meals.
