Pieology Pizzeria Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA

This used to be a solid place to get a good pizza, after some time I have returned and the quality or the portions are pitiful, I first went in physically to this location a week ago and as they were adding the ingredients I was in disbelieve, the amount of sauce and cheese or lack of was insane, screaming shrinkflation.. I asked the worker for a bit more, same goes for the pepperoni and the bacon. I figured it could have been a one time incident, as of today I tried to order online, and wow it’s even worse. Be wary too, if you place an order on Google the price is marked up to $20+ for one create your own pizza as opposed to the $12.99 on the original website.. I found a video I took from 2019 and screenshotted it for comparison, the pizza had the same exact toppings, nothing extra. really a shame honestly..the fact they have the audacity to charge $20+ for this is wild.

I never leave reviews, but this experience was so bad. The employee walked around doing five other things and he was wearing gloves while doing it and with the gloves, he was touching cabinets and doorhandles and other bags with then after that he came and grabbed the dough that he was gonna give me with the same gloves. I was in line for 10 minutes and for some reason he helped everyone but me. I did my best to be patient but touching food with dirty gloves was the last straw and I walked out, last time I’m ever coming here.

I frequent this location often and have never had a bad experience. The service is always fast and friendly and the store is always clean. Pieology is great if you love adding extra toppings to your pizza without the EXTRA charge. Your pizza is built and cooked right in front of you! There are different crusts to choose from (including gluten free!) And the pie artists are patient as you choose from a selection of sauces, toppings and seasonings. The prices and deals are advertised clearly so there's no surprise on what you're paying for. It is definitely on the favorite list for my family and I.

First time ordering from here, the photos of the food looked great so I though hey it’s pizza how bad could it be! Boy was I wrong, first off the photos on the menu and photos posted by pieology DO NOT properly represent the food. Second the thin crust was burnt on bottom and the thick crust was under cooked, you guys need to adjust your temps and times for the pizza your cooking. Third, the toppings were lacking heavily, hardly any cheese on one, all the topping in the center of one, and the third one although put together properly was burnt the most. The biggest downfall of a restaurant is poor quality assurance. Also don’t take cuts from peoples pizzas to eat, not only is it obvious but it’s rude, and it lost you future business from me.

I came in at 10:40 PM. I was told by the only worker there that there were two orders ahead. I told her no problem. As soon as she was done with those orders, she’s on the phone telling someone OK I’m clocking out. No regard or consideration that I waited almost half an hour. No apologies. It’s safe to say, this will be the last time I come here.

HORRIBLE. We waited over 1 hour for our pizza, just to find out they gave it away to someone else. There was a large party in front of us and took my pizza. The girls working just opened the pizzas and screamed in the lobby and asked “is this yours” they did not keep our orders organized. Who ever the supervisor or manager should not let 2 girls work alone, it was way too busy for just two people.
Then they re-made our pizza just for it to be raw and look like this!!!!

I like this concept...a subway style make your own pizza. You have a choice of thin or thick crust (one size - medium), and lots of fresh toppings, then it is fire grilled. The price is very reasonable for a personalized pizza!! And they serve drought beer!! My only compliant is that out of all 4 of tap beers, they only had one beer available because their order wasnt delivered. Other than this hiccup...it was a fun, delicious experience.

La comida esta bien aunque si cuentan los ingredientes y es mentira la especial que anuncian porque ofrecen una promocion de 2 pizzas por $22 y no es asi. Mi mayor molestia es el servicio, no te regalan la comida y solo habia una persona atendiendo en el lugar, que te ignora completamente, no saluda y con pesima actitud al cliente. Si no les gusta su trabajo mejor busquen otras opciones. Creo que hay mejores lugares donde comer pizza.

Husband and I used to LOVE Pieology but with recent visits we are starting to grow away from Pieology. Extra pepperoni after the 6 pieces they put on is $2, if you want a 1 topping pizza with extra cheese that makes it a 2 topping pizza even though the extra is just a sprinkle, ranch is $1, etc. I understand food costs but it’s just a little outrageous and a bummer. If you want a cheaper option, try Blaze or even Rusty’s lunch special! But customer service is wonderful here. Nice, kind people.

The pizza was amazing, but more than that, my daughter has celiac and he was so careful to not cross contaminate, and the gluten free crust was amazing!! I was more than impressed with the service. I wish I had the employee’s name so I could give him a shout out!

I stopped in tonight and was surprised the store was still open. As the breeze whipped around me while I opened the door I was greeted happily by the employees Juan and Sam. To my surprise they were excited to provide excellent customer service. Sam informed me the register was closed for cash. That was of little consequence to me I would be using contact less payment for this transaction. Juan helped me build the feast I will be dining on tonight. He walked me through the whole process and made it very easy to understand. Lemme tell you Juan knows his stuff. I was whisked through the culinary delights of vegetables sauces and toppings available at this location. Juan was the sherpa guiding me to the top of this mountain. Why Juan isn't a manager, or an owner of one of the franchises by now I'll never know. He is knowledgeable with the product and has amazing people skills. The service was amazing and the food tasted heavenly. Thanks Juan 5 out of 5 stars. Honestly wish I could give it more stars

Had a great experience with the staff here. They were careful with our food allergies and made us feel welcome. Pizza was delicious. Wish we could eat the Nutella dessert pizza because it looks delicious. My son really liked it (the only one of us who can eat dairy). He gave it a thumbs up!

We like Pieology, but the workers here are very slow. Sometimes they burn the crust of your pizza. I feel like this place would get a better score if the staff were faster and they made sure the crust doesn't get burnt.

I think if you're a fan of little Caesars or Dominos or Costco pizza then this pizza isn't for you... The pizza is so small and expensive... Like $18 for the pizza I ordered and it was barely enough for just myself ... The pizza is basically meant just for one person.. the pizza is the size of a paper plate .. not gonna hate on their pizza because I think their product is for a specific type of person but it's not for me ... I didn't enjoy the pizza but it just wasn't for me .. I think their pizza would be a healthier option though if you're health conscious..

Pieology on Panama is the worst. Both Managers are horrible. The manager had her son behind the counter while working. Did not greet there customers black customers at that. Thus place is horrible. I am calling corporate office tomorrow. Both managers never apologized to me. The shift manager was making pizza dough and never said I will be right with you. The pizza guy was putting pizza in a hot oven were a little boy no more than 8yrs old standing in front of a hot oven. What managee brings there kids to work? Shift manager was making the store manager pizzas before making customers pizza. I. Paying for mu pizzas she gets her's half off or for free. I did nothing wrong but express my opinion. Both managers refuse to give me there names. We got into a shouting match. Nether one of them still didn't apologized. Corporate office is my next step

Some say that is establishment lacks the care and quality that is found in most pizza places. This cannot be further than the truth.

In the warmth of the bakersfield evening, I walk into pielogy with a mission. I must order a pizza for my gluten free/dairy free girlfriend.

I approach the pieology employee with a smile as I hold a sheet of instructions resembling the hand writing of golem himself. I read the first line and pray for peace.

"Can I have the gluten-free crust?" I spoke with a hinge of fright.

"Is that allergy or a preference?" He says.

The words rung in my ear like a beam on a railroad track being crushed by a train. What do I say? What do I do? I know the answer, it was indeed a preference, but my inner demon grabbed hold of my tongue and muttered three words that would change my expirence entirely.

"It's an allergy." I said, lying without my own consent.

Then, like a bat in the night, the two employees at the desk jumped into action.

The girl starts vigorously cleaning the stove and scraping any trace of a previously made pizza. The man gets new gloves and opens a brand new bag for every item. He caresses the dough as if he is a masseuse trained to massage a feather in the wind.

As they remove any contamination within a ten block radius, I look at myself in the reflection of the window. Why did I say allergy? Just to watch them suffer? To amuse my desire to be special and quirky? I do not know.

The care and quality at pieology is, without a doubt.....

Biased towards people with allergies! Like bruuuuh everytime I order online, they replace my bbq sauce with ranch or something. Want pepperoni? Your not allergic? Let's just throw some anchovies on there!! 😤😤

Your employees Anthony and Conner were very nice and helpful. They helped me and my bestfriend choose what to order and then they made our pizzas. It was one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had. We’ll definitely be coming back!

First time here. I enjoyed every bite 🤤 you have choices in what type of crust you want to build your pie on. A variety of cheeses to start it up with. So many veggies and meats to choose. Whatever you craving they have it. In less then 10 min you are enjoying your creation. Very clean environment and great service to accommodate your needs.

I ordered 6 pizzas with everything the Hispanic lady that was there she started telling my wife that to many toppings was not right then told the other employees that they should charge for xtra toppings and at the end they did I call corporations guess what they didn’t do nothing I even send the receipt and told them how that girl treated my wife we spend about 88dollars🍕👎

This specific pieology never ceases to disappoint me by always getting my online order wrong. They have proven to be consistently unreliable.

Apparently there isn’t a standard pizza dough-ball size, so sometimes it’s a coin toss whether you’ll actually receive a thick crust or a “slightly thicker than a thin crust” pizza. An on-site manager there informed me that it’s normal for a thick crust to be the exact same thickness as a thin whilst paying a $3 premium; I’m baffled.

If you want to roll-the-dice on what toppings you’ll receive on your pizza, I suggest pieology. You can ask for onions, and end up with roasted bell peppers on your pizza.

Second time coming here once three years ago,
Pizza still soggy and not cooked all the way through.
I asked for a water cup and was given a paper shot glass... I went back and forth 8 times.

They has no Tabasco or any other hot sauce.

Only my second time to Pieology. Last time was in 2018 and this was the first time to this store. The gentleman that made our pizzas was very helpful, explained the process, and made my pizza to perfection. Definitely will be a return customer for the cauliflower crust. The crust made the pizza light and I didn't walk away feeling like I was on carb overload.

Just ordered from them “DELIVERY “on their own app and my order came missed up and missing ingredients and items that I paid for. Called them and a manager answers me saying that door dash are responsible for the missing items and by the way I ordered from their app and the order is delivered by UBER, even the manager do t know about his own job. He said that I need to come and they can fix it and I responded there’s a reason why I order delivery!! When I asked for refund he said that I have to bring my order for refund. Bad customer service. They just lost old customer

Im not the type to put reviews for any place I go to and especially for restaurants. But unfortunately I found the atmosphere disrespectful and disturbing despite the food. On Wednesday 12/29/21 there was a man with the name of Chris treating his employees so rudely to the point where his yells surrounded the whole place. It was clear that his yells and vulgar words made myself and people around me uncomfortable and angry by the way he was treating all those unfortunate teens under his charge.

I like the food. I really do. But I will not go back due to the way they treated those poor employees that evening. I have never encountered such atmosphere at Pieology and I understand that perhaps those teens did not say anything about his horrible attitude towards them. But after a few days of remembering such disturbance, I cannot stay quiet.

I placed an order online for curbside at 6:15pm and paid with my credit card. I called as it said to do and informed the Manager Diana "I'm here". She said ok, she would send an employee out with my order. I ended up waiting outside the restaurant for over an hour. I finally went inside to inquire about the status. The lady said they didn't even have a ticket for my order which the manager could have said that over the phone. After she apologized. I explained that the order was for a hungry husband who was waiting this whole time. The manager Diana said, "Maybe you can get him something from Mc Donald's". I told her that was NOT funny the order was a veggie pizza on GLUTEN free dough. I didn't notice anyone else having an issue. In fact, they weren't busy inside, and I saw several online customers pickup orders. When a company offers a service that their staff selects who they give it too with no valid reason, makes the whole establishment look bad! Very Unsatisfactory. I understand, everyone is over worked at this time. I'm very patient and compassionate. If the food was for me, I would have let it pass. However, the ripple effect that this 1 act has caused, could have been avoided. I personally think a reason maybe because there was no tip added to the online order. I had cash in hand waiting to hand it to whomever came out. I was recently injured on my job so I was happy about the curbside service. I should have gone in from the start, at least I would have left with dinner in hand instead of an apology and cash back. Worst takeout experience over 1 simple person pizza.

First time trying Pieology. Ordering is simple and reminded me of Blaze pizza. The setup and vibe is similar. The length of time cooking took much longer. The crust was comparable to a cracker. BUT, it did not taste bad. Just a texture and wait time difference and it may have been better.

First time ordering from here, the photos of the food looked great so I though hey it’s pizza how bad could it be! Boy was I wrong, first off the photos on the menu and photos posted by pieology DO NOT properly represent the food. Second the thin crust was burnt on bottom and the thick crust was under cooked, you guys need to adjust your temps and times for the pizza your cooking. Third, the toppings were lacking heavily, hardly any cheese on one, all the topping in the center of one, and the third one although put together properly was burnt the most. The biggest downfall of a restaurant is poor quality assurance. Also don’t take cuts from peoples pizzas to eat, not only is it obvious but it’s rude, and it lost you future business from me.

We got it. But we didn't get to eat it as we were involved in a bad accident right after leaving the store. Our poor pizza was destroyed. But I've had it before and it was the bestest.

I believe they need a Secret Shopper Quality Control division. To ensure that each pie is done to perfection. And on the spot training to retrain that which had fallen short of. My deep pan crust fell bellow that standard. Precook it to reach that if that's what it takes.

Sorry but I'm going to be a buzzkill and say that the pizza was just not very good. I ordered a pepperoni and mushroom with the thick crust and while it looked good, the mostly flavorless red sauce and horrible mozzarella cheese ruined what could have been good. The service was good but I just could get past the cheese and sauce being subpar. What was wrong with the cheese? It has a consistency more like American cheese, just gooey and not stringy/chewey at all. Even cold it had an odd texture, again more like American cheese. If they used better cheese, added flavor to the red sauce and went with better pepperoni then it would be pretty decent.

Their service has been spotty in the past. But we've given them another shot and this time everything went very smooth. The food is always good it's not the best pizza in town but it's excellent and very close to where we live. All of the pizza places with this business model of making it in front of you cooking it and then you take it I priced about the same with pretty similar quality in my opinion.

Did online order. Didn't go as well..I went to go Pick it up at time that was given. My order was barely being prepared. Under staffed was the reason I was given..

Disappointing. Hardly any cheese or other toppings. I don't know if they actually put ingredients if you order in person, but I don't recommend ordering online.

Rude AF tone No greeting no thank you! Its like im doing myself a favor by coming in. Luckily i was in ok mood and didnt want to ruin my day and mood. But not coming back to this location again.
