Renae's Café

Renae's cafe is not in your typical place where you would find a restaurant a hidden place you hear people talk about to make you go look for it. We are happy we found it. Depending on which direction you come from either fruitvale or coffe rd you can easily miss it when driving by. We got here for lunch on Sunday they were very busy. We were welcomed right away and were seated. The staff were very friendly got are drink orderd and was told the specials and are server answered any questions we had. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger was going to get a double decided on a single. I thought it was going to be a regular bacon cheeseburger you normally get at any place. No was i wrong It was so delicious ,it did not disappoint in flavor or size. It was seasoned very well and the size of the bacon cheeseburger was big I was getting full halfway eating it. I definitely wouldn't have finished the double if I had gotten that one. With thick cuts of bacon lettuce and tomatoes with lots of pickles. I love pickles so the amount they gave me was perfect. With lots of fries no skimping on the fries i mean full serving of crinkle cut fries season and crispy it was enough to share with my husband who got the mushroom burger with a side salad. Alot of good options for next time to try. Comfortable atmosphere small but doesn't feel like your right on or too close to other tables.

I love this place! You feel like family here. The waitress are very attentive to your needs. Even when they are busy, you are seated rather quickly. Food is amazing. Place is always so clean. Renae has no problem getting in there and helping out, from waiting on people to cleaning the tables off. If anyone is looking for a great place and food then stop by!!

Well, we were in the neighborhood and hungry. Saw the massive amount of 5 star reviews. Place was packed, but we were seated quickly, and promptly waited on. I went with the Meany Melt and the wife got Chicken and Waffles. My sandwich was cooked well and the side of fries were also cooked well. But the Melt was just kinda blah. No seasonings and just boring. The wife thought her Chicken also lacked seasonings and was also just kinda dull. She said her scrambled eggs were cooked great but again no seasonings used. I'm not discounting the other reviews but we will probably not be going back. We were just underwhelmed and unimpressed..

Normally a breakfast spot for me. Today I had a burger and fries for lunch. Handmade fresh patty was delicious. It was really a lot more than I expected. The staff is amazing, they work together very well. Love this place.

This is my favorite diner in Bakersfield now. Looking forward to return to try more stuff. Gravy isn't the greatest I've had but it's damn good 8/10. Chili bean and cheese omelet is a 9/10 best I've had in Bakersfield.

My bro and I hit this place up on a busy Sunday. Friendly staff. We ordered the Rib eye and stuffed strawberry french toast. Both were really good. Bonus to them for having rice. Our must have side dish! This was our first visit and will definitely be back!

We always enjoy Renee's. The energy is high, vibe is happy. The patient waitresses are always walking by filling drinks etc..

We decided to have breakfast here after reading the reviews and let me tell you they did not disappoint! Everyone was super friendly. We didn’t even get through the door before we received a cheerful welcoming. You don’t get service like that often anymore. The food was amazing! I left so full I just couldn’t stop eating. Literally everything about our time here was beyond compare.

It was a very busy Sunday morning. And I must say the staff did a great job of being swift and postive. Customers were patient.
If you love a crispy yet soft on the inside waffle... get one here!!! Yeah!

Came here after seeing good reviews, we got seated quickly and our order taken fairly quick. Coffee was burnt & bitter asked for some to be taken out so I can try and salvage it with creamer, she gave me a mug, so I had to spoon it from one mug to the other. Then she never came back to ask if we needed anything or the general question "is everything ok" but when she did she placed our check upside down on the table. Mind you we still had quite some food left, and they're not large portions so I guess I couldn't order anything to go . The whole thing was rushed we were in n out about 40min. Overall not an awful experience, but if you're not a regular don't expect good service.

Everyone is always courteous. Good food, good service, I will and do recommend it for breakfast and lunch. Never have I had a bad experience there. I usually go with a large group, but I have also taken my adult children so they accommodate any situation.

Food is not good! Chile Verde had NO heat. Breakfast burrito was flavorless and came out with unmelted grated cheese on top. Over-medium were a runny mess. My French toast had burned edges and was lukewarm. Bacon was cold and not crispy. Potatoes were not completely cooked and our OJ at $4.25 a glass was watered down and tasted like orange flavored water.

My husband and I came here on a Sunday morning at 11:30 AM. We were seated almost immediately even though they were pretty busy. I ordered the special of the day cinnamon waffles, and my husband had the biscuits and gravy. We both loved our food. The service, food, and price were all great I highly recommend.

We came to try this place on a fluke after a Dr appointment and fell in love with this spot. The service was amazing the food was amazing and everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience! We even met the owner who was super friendly as well. Chicken fried steak and eggs with hash browns and sourdough toast. Chicken fried steak was ok but not a lot of flavor, hash browns were in eatable greasy and way over cooked where you couldn’t even use your steak knife to cut through them. Eggs were good just how I ordered and I ate all my toast which I never do. Service at first was good but came around with coffee and water right after I got mine and never saw anyone again. I won’t be back

As a OTR Truckdrive have the opertunities to eat at many places so this has to be one of my favorites always welcolmed with a smile, from the owner working to the dish washers bring the clean dishs out,waitress alway scurring around getting things cleaned delivering you order coffee cups always full to me great atmosphere 5 stars from me.

It’s a good place for breakfast and lunch. The place is disorganized when serving food. My girlfriend got pancakes first and still waiting on sausage. I got toast first and still wait on my omelette. Finally she got her sausage. I’m still waiting on my omelette. Finally someone saw that I was still waiting. Bad service. They need to be trained better. The food was good.

Update March 23rd 2023 had breakfast here again today biggest supposed delicious ham steak eggs hash browns biscuits and gravy can't be beat bacon is still awesome!

One of the best chicken fried steak breakfast you'll ever have bacon is always done to perfection and the wait staff and owner are extremely nice. To top it off they've made the outside dining a comfortable experience

My daughter n son-in-law took me here for Sunday breakfast, they go every Sunday. The staff are very friendly, atmosphere is great, they get your order n the food comes out hot, not cold and taste great.
I would highly recommend visiting Renae's Cafe.

Kitchen doesn't listen to servers on specifics, eggs are cheap and we're undercooked, tritip was prefab and refrigerated before reheat and serve.
Coffee $3.50, 2/5 - expecting more for the price & rating.

This was my first visit here and I must admit that it is a hidden gem tucked away in a commercial/industrial area. Definitely worthy of more return trips in the near future.
Update: I have been back several times and ordered something different each time. Thus far, I have never been disappointed!

Great food and staff. Accommodated my vegan and vegetarian request and that too in a quick turnaround so I don’t miss my flight, during one of their most busy times on Friday morning. THANK YOU ! Avocado toast was really good, one of the best I have had.

I have a genuine reluctance to share this review because I'm going to be irate when I show up and can't get a table. So, it's with no small effort that I offer that IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. PERIOD. This is how food should be prepared, served and waited upon. There is nothing else to say.

The best biscuits and gravy in town, hands down! This little hidden gem is one of my new favorite breakfast places, it's always packed with families, friends and laughing, smiles, and just warmth. Definitely family friendly and orientated. Most of the staff is super friendly and welcoming, very helpful and ready to make you happy and comfortable.

Chicken Fried Steak with country potatoes was bland. The chicken fried steak was so overly fried there wasn't really much meat texture. It was like eating an oily crisp.

The country potatoes and egg needed seasoning but the potatoes was the higher rating of the entire dish.

The hot links with loaded hashbrowns was good. We asked for cheese and onions on the hashbrowns, and although it was $3 more, that was the best tasting part of the entire meal. Yes to the loaded hashbrowns!

If you have not tried Renae's Cafe you definitely should. The biscuits and gravy are delicious. My favorite dish here is the breakfast burrito with country gravy added.
Another thing to be aware, if you don't want to dine in, they have take out. Call your order in, and behind the building to pick up. There's a sign by the door with a number to call to let them know you are there to pick up.
You can also buy gift certificates here for presents.

Great food and great service. They do the breakfast classics incredibly well. I could tell almost everything was made from scratch in house. The servers also made sure our coffees and waters were full. Would stop again if in the area.
