Took over thirty minutes to get our food AND to see our waitress again. She was clearly interested in tables that were drinking alcohol for the tips. I am a stickler for leaving tips for servers. But, I felt NO guilt not leaving one today. Surprisingly the pizza I ordered was decent. All and all, I will NOT come here for lunch again. This place is better suited for if you're planning on drinking or watching a game and don't mind obnoxiously loud people screaming in your ear or waitresses who won't pay attention to your table if you're not ordering alcohol.

I had a Cesar crispy chicken wrap 🌯 one by far the best wrap I've had. My server Nelson who is amazing btw get him a raise!! He recommended some tweaks on the wrap and 😲 wow !!!!

What a fun place to meet with friends! Our Bunco group had not seen each other in 4 years due to Covid, and we finally did.

Social house did not disappoint! The music was on spot, the drinks were great and the food and service was spot on.

We ordered several different salads, a burger, nachos- everyone enjoyed their order. I had the crispy chicken Cobb salad ( subbed the blue cheese for feta and chose spicy ranch)- literally came home and told my husband it was probably the best salad I’ve ever had at a restaurant- well done!

Also, the vanilla pineapple margarita was delicious, and white wine and sangria were also enjoyed by our group.

We will be returning. 😊

Been back several times for lunch, it’s been pretty good.
Waiter/bartender Daniel, did outstanding job and deserves praise.
Nice, cute, clean, neighborhood bar and grill that has excellent food, not just bar food, but really good restaurant food, including lamb, steak, chicken and duck.
I had a few minutes to spare, stopped in for a drink and appetizers.
I ordered a shrimp skewer, it comes on a bed of cold saw, it was excellent and hit the spot of a light meal. The nice lady sitting next to me was quite loquacious, she was saying how good her pastrami cheeseburger was, she was quite happy about it, will have to try it next time.

Nice place to grab a drink with friends!

This place is called the Social House for a reason. It’s a great place to meet up with friends and grab a good drink.

We had the Smothered Tots as an appetizer and I have to say these were excellent.

The burgers were pretty good. Solid burgers I don’t have any complaints about them.

The drinks were exceptional!

Blood Orange Cosmo - ordered it because my server recommended it. It was good.

Then I ordered a Long Island. Finally got a decent Long Island in this town.

I am knocking a star off because our friend wanted to come here here because of their unique specials that they post on their social media. But there were no specials that day. Sad.

Overall. I would recommend this place!

Everything I had here was so tasty. We had the nachos to start off with and they have their own cheese sauce and what was particularly good TO ME, was that they added pickled red onions. Before you say, "ew" give them a fair chance. Then my friends got the salmon salad and she was happy with it. Another friend got the apricot salmon and it was Amazing! And if you're into burgers, get one here.

The atmosphere here is amazing. Its just the right amount of loud to be fun and gives off a great vibe. The food is also delicious. This was my first visit here this place was recommended to me and what a great recommendation it turned out to be. So let me start off with the pizza I ordered the bbq chicken pizza. It wasnt a standard what you'd expect bbq pizza. It has a spicy pesto sauce and thatbhas just the right amount of heat and the chicken is sliced super thin. The crust is a little softer than I expected, but was perfect for this pizza. I have literally thought about this pizza 2 or 3 times since I was here a few weeks ago. We also ordered the jalapeño popper appetizer which I wasn't a fun of it was a jalapeno with a cream cheese center and a piece of bacon wrapped around it deep fried. I feel like if the jalapeno had cooked a little more it may have been great. But you basically bite into well done bacon and a mostly raw jalapeno. I also was underwhelmed by the mac and cheese. You pick 2 toppings for your mac and cheese i got chicken and bacon. Which both tasted fine but the cheese in the mac and cheese didn't have much flavor. We also orderd the carnitas nachos. They were really good but if I ordered them again I'd try a diffrent protein the carnitas was not a traditional carnita more of a shredded pork. I definitely will go back and try other things and get that pizza again. The food other people ordered looked and smelled delicious.

Background music with videos is great. SoHo rib eye, lamb lollipops and margarita pizza is really good. Kristen, Daniel, Nelson & Leo are very friendly and will expedite your food and drinks before you know it. On busy nights, food may take a little longer but is worth it. Can’t wait to see the results of the expansion. Lots of TV’s for sporting events. I was surprised to see an IMSA race on the TV’s the other day. Clean & updated restrooms as well. Parking can be limited sometimes but not a problem overall.

I went to Social House with High expectations because of a propaganda done on a tv show. It was NOTHING like they showed it to be on TV. We ordered a pizza and taco Tuesday tacos. The pizza on TV showed it to be a crunchy full of veggies delicious pizza… we got pitta bread with cheese and they actually asked if we would like sauce on our pizza. It was a quesadilla! The tacos, on TV looked three times as big with lots of beef and delicious… nope!!! Tiny little super paprika and spicyyyyy shredded beef mini tacos! We ordered 2 margaritas which were not bad but… $11 each! Not a big deal and we can get them cheaper in other places just as good or better. Not very impressed with the place at all. We… most likely will never go back. It was just not worth the money. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

We recently made this our spot and up until tonight loved not just the food and vibe but the service as well. Tonight the server with the long black hair served only one table leaving her coworkers to manage the packed house. She did however make time to have a shitty attitude with anyone but that table.

Great selection of food here I’ve had the Italian and the meatball sandwich I wish I had gotten more sauce on the meatball but other than that both are dynamite. Server was very nice and attentive. Music is a little loud if you are trying to have a serious meeting during your dine in, but the music is excellent other than that.

Great spot! Brittany was an awesome server, very attentive. I had the Biscuits & Gravy and it was delicious. The biscuits are a bit on the sweet side, but that's what I liked about them! Would definitely recommend !

What a fun place to meet with friends! Our Bunco group had not seen each other in 4 years due to Covid, and we finally did.

Really nice place. I stop here when driving the 99 up and down the state. Food is really good, I like the options of tots or sweet potato fries. When I'm not driving, I've grabbed a few cocktails and those are also really good. I'm old and cranky so occasionally the music seems insanely loud to me but while it's a bit annoying it's not like it's going to stop me from coming back.

Will not be returning to this place any time soon. Of the 12 people in our group for brunch, 4 people breakfast was burned. The waitress had the nerve to ask if the food tasted burnt. Plus they charge 150 dollars to hold your reservation. 75.00 goes toward your bill, the other goes in the owners pocket 😡

Mother’s Day 2024.. If one owns a restaurant, one would expect to have all hands on deck for a special event..not this place. 25 mins wait (not bad) 25 mins for someone to take our order AND 60 mins to get our food which was cold or overly heated under a lamp. Our complaints weren’t compensated or discounted…avoid this place!

Walked in, and a guy says all our tables are full and proceeds to just stare at me. Since he obviously was not going to give any more information, I asked how long the wait might be, and he says it's going to be a while. Gave off a feeling of not wanting our business, so we went to old river grill where we were taken care of.

Since I recently moved to Kern County, I wanted to check out local eateries. The Social House was recommended by my friend's hairstylist.
We drove to the Social House and luckily there was handicapped parking close otherwise my disabled friend would have walked a bit.
Anyway, the restaurant is nicely sized with tall and short tables. Our waitress was quite nice and very attentive.
I had the Margherita Pizza and was very happy! The pie was awesome, with just the right amount of tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella cheese. The crust was thin with a drizzle of olive oil. Also, tried the stuffed mushrooms and they were very good. I don't recall what sandwich my friend had, but she loved it too.
I highly recommend this place for lunch and will definitely go back.

One of our absolute favorite local spots to eat! We come here semi frequently and have never had a bad experience.

The food is excellent! If you’re a tots lover(or not) get the loaded tots, they’re AMAZING!
Service has always been great and friendly. Cleanliness is good. The drinks are excellent. The rotating dessert’s are great! Love that there is a patio option. I could go on and on.

I GOT A SERIOUS CASE OF FOOD POISONING!!! Please for the love of whatever god you believe in DO NOT eat here!!! I don’t know if the employees are washing their hands or what is going on but I got a serious case of food poisoning and spent DAYS sick… I wish I didn’t come here I’ve never felt so close to death….

Food was delicious. The ranch for the side salad was full of flavor. I ended up ordering the basalmic beef sandwich and the goat cheese really made it pop. Good selection of whiskey too. Prices are a bit high and service was horrible. 3 people behind the bar that must practice on how not to make eye contact. They were more interested in eating their food and talking with their fellow employees than actually working. It's unfortunate just because I did enjoy the food but I highly doubt I'll be back anytime soon.

Everything I've eaten here has been de-lish! When you view their menu and you see the grilled cheese and tomato soup/ bisque... please do try it! The salmon- 2thumbs way up. And the steak fries? Crowd pleaser, for sure🙂

So...the last 3 times we've gone (we went the last time because we thought no way it could be this bad 3 times in a row) we literally waited 20+ minutes before even being greeted. The last time i started the timer on my phone, laid it on the table..and waited 20 minutes. That's with about 4-6 servers running around. Once we were greeted the lady was super short and rude...I get it...you're in a hurry, but we didn't do anything wrong so stop being rude. Also, the whole brunch and no other regular menu item being available is pretty lame. What..do you have to switch machines like McDonald's? Even ran into some friends...on the SH patio who had the same complaints as us. Bad service and annoying menu availability times.

The food tastes GREAT. The ambiance has major potential, and 1 of the guy servers was excellent (he knew the menu, suggested mods etc) and genuinely looked to be enjoying himself. The girls on the other hand...need a rude awakening. My wife and I own and operate our own catering biz and have a combined 40+ yrs in the industry. With such great service and food available in other places, I don't see myself ever going back to Social House.

We had a terrible experience here a couple of weeks ago.
The hostess seated us quickly, but we waited over 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us. We told the waitress we would like to start with two waters, for which we waited another 10 minutes but never received the waters or had anyone come take our food order. We inevitably walked out very disappointed.
We would love to come back and give a better review, but as of now it's 0/10 recommendation from me.

I am a food connoisseur who travels across California trying and rating different restaurants. I am from Bakersfield and I was in town visiting family, when I found this little bar/restaurant. My experience was pretty good. Waiters are extremely nice, from what I tried the food is okay. I don’t recommend the California burger, there’s to much avocado not enough flavor. The fries on the other hand are amazing, a little crispy but flavor was on point. Bartender is a little heavy handed, the drinks were a bit strong. The restaurant are a bit over priced, could be budget friendly if you order the right things. And it does take a little bit of time to get your food, probably faster during the day time. Overall I give this restaurant a 7/10. It wouldn’t be my first restaurant choice but I would definitely come back.

Found a sandwich stick in a meal and they try to lie and argue when we asked to speak to management said that we couldn't be correct that they would never do that but they clearly did make a mistake we just wanted to let them know but the way they reacted proved that this is definitely not a place to support

I came here over the summer and I ordered a burger to go. But the service lady didn't even want to help me, and this other service dude was too busy flirting with her. So I tap on his shoulder to ask if I can order something. He gave me an attitude, which made me want to fight him on the spot with that disrespectful response he gave me. But i brush it off and ask the manager if I can order. The weird part, they weren't busy.
But anywho, the manager helped me, and the burger wasn't great.

UPDATE: Stopped in today for a beer and some of those amazing fries. Since nobody was sitting at the bar, i chose that. The bartender said 'hello' and continued the task she was involved in. I got settled and waited. About 30 seconds later, two guys came in and sat at the other end of the bar. The bartender instantly asked what they wanted to drink, got the drinks, and was handing them menus when i decided i am not their target demograpic and i left. I am gonna miss those fries.

Previous review text: They have a really interesting take on a club sandwich at this place. Griddled bread made the difference! Definitely going to order that again multiple times. Also, OMG the fries are so good ....SO good!
Perfectly crispy outside, creamy inside, hot, salty, everything that I like in french fries. My server was congenial, helpful, and perfectly attentive : not too much , not too little. Five star visit.

I was really hoping to like this place and the food is not terrible but our experience there was not good. We had 2 very nice servers but neither one was ours. Our server took our drink order and dissapeared. We had to order food from another server that we flagged down about 45 minutes after we ordered drinks. The guy we flagged down seemed annoyed with our server as he shot him a look when we asked to place our order. Our appetizer came out after we got our meal (the server who was not ours asked if we still wanted it) . We ate our food which was okay but not great and ordered more drinks from our original server (which did not come come) and waited another 20 minutes or so before we asked another waitress for the check. Gave a tip to the guy who took our food order and left knowing that there was no good reason to ever come back to this place, so don't expect an update , as it was obvious that its poorly managed and the food isn't good enough to overcome these shortcomings

New spot to eat. I had the Philly Dip sandwich, it was so delicious and plenty of meat. The service was excellent, waiters were friendly and professional. A must if you enjoy eating out. I can't believe the amount of places to eat in Bakersfield. You guys will last!! Praying for you all and will be back with family and friends.

Edit 2022: there have bee many changes for the better. The menu has expaded and the food is great. The serive is better now. We eat here a few times a month now and i dont see that changing.

My family and I have been to Soho 3 times. Every experience was exactly the same. Great food, great atmosphere, HORRIBLE service. Each time it was 15 mins plus before anyone came to get drinks. When he did show up he acted like he was doing us a favor.
Once the food is dropped off, you'll never see your waiter again. So refills and additional drinks are just not an option. They have buttons to push for service, those calls go unanswered 100% of the time. A few changes and this place will be great.

Not wowed... Could be, but every time I have a good experience it is followed by a mediocre one. I know restaurants have to mark up to make their profit, but to charge half a bottle for 1 pour of Michter's bourbon is bad over reach. Even Eureka sells Weller Antique 107 (wich retails for almost 2x Michter's) for 10 a pour so...That and the fact that even though you're sitting right in front of the bar, on a moderately slow day, you have to flag down service means I probably won't be coming back; which is a shame because it's a great local spot, with potential to be great...but tries hard not to be.

Great food, nice big beers, but your level of service seems to be randomly decided. My last visit we were seated promptly and there was maybe 5 other parties in the restaurant.

We sat there for 30 minutes before someone asked if we wanted drinks. We ordered two drinks. Another 10 minutes passed before I gave up and went somewhere else. I'm generally pretty understanding about waitstaff in a busy restaurant, but not only was it not that busy but several staff were just chilling.

Anyways, it's a great place to grab some grub and sink a few but don't expect much from your server.

The atmosphere at Social House is horrible. If you try to pull two tables together for a larger group, you will be in BIG trouble! That’s for starts. I made arrangements on 04/13 with the owner of Social House to host a Celebration of Life for Russ Carter (the “R” of RJ’s). I asked if it could be a private event as I knew that at least 100 people would show up. The owner agreed. After I had 50 RSVP’s, the owner called me on 04/23 (10 days later!) to tell me that I would need to pay a $1000 rental fee! I explained that we would be buying drinks, buying dinner and spending money that she would not normally see on a Sunday night. I was stuck. I knew we had to have the event there and I would now be forced to pay whatever she told me I had to pay. In the 5 hours I was there, a total of NINE customers showed up at the door and read the sign that said, “Private Party”. Their cash register system failed during the event. They asked to take photos of people’s credit cards to charge them later. Most of the guests experienced problems with their bills when they went to settle. It was a big mess. This is not a customer friendly place. Numerous other properties realized Russ’s commitment to the community and offered up their facilities. I should have just moved the event. Lesson learned. I will never patronize this establishment again.

First time here, poorest service I’ve ever experienced. Would not recommend. Not attentive what so ever. Did not provide menus but proceeded to suggest us to order breakfast before menu change. How have I missed this place! Used to be RJs … new owners and new menu. I tried the chicken Cobb salad, the nachos and the pizza. I can not decide what was my favorite. The salad was full of pears, thinly sliced artichokes, craisins, bacon, cheese and big enough to split. If you like thin crust pizza you are going to love this pizza. It was so full of flavor. I don’t usually eat pizza but after a thin taste test I had to eat more!!! The nachos. Ih my gosh GET the NACHOS. Finally nachos with more stuff then chips!! Triticale, black beans, avocado and cheese … lots and lots of glorious cheese.

This place is amazing. Their food is absolutely delicious, their staff is very friendly, and the place is well kept up. They have lots of TV's for entertainment, indoor and outdoor seating and a wide selection of drinks!

The brunch menu was all we could order from on Sunday until 1 pm. It was bad just limited your selection options. Food was good.

Fabulous place! Cocktails were great. Food was phenomenal 😍 Our waiter was top notch, he was friendly, fun and super attentive! Definitely coming back!! Pastrami burger and Bleu burger. Yummo❤👌

This restaurant has the best food me and my whole family has ever had! We had the sliders, pizza, and a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. The service was great! We walked in, got to our table, and gots all of you drinks and food very quick. Everyone was extremely nice. Perfect place for comport food. Their music was great. All time best restaurant 5 out of 5 stars!

There was an issue involving an employee and a customer. The employee and an older women were drinking at the bar heavily when they noticed a woman on the patio. They then started becoming angry and what could only be described as uncomfortably belligerent. They raised a fuss inside the restaurant (the woman and her friend were outside on the patio) and made whatever problem they had everyone else's in the establishment. As the outside people were leaving, they yelled threats and other things at them. It was the most uncomfortable experience I have ever had at a restaurant.

I was in the restaurant on Monday when there was a dispute. Two women at the bar were taking pictures of someone through the window and screaming profanities at her as well as flipping her off. I didn’t find out until later that the ladies yelling were an employee and her mother. It was an incredibly uncomfortable situation for myself and the people I was with. As long as that person is working there, I’m not sure that I’m comfortable going there again.

I've been coming regularly now, and I just don't have a bad thing to say. This will continue to be a regular weekend brunch place for my group. We always have a fantastic dining experience!

This place was buzzing! Took the whole family, everyone's food was great!!!! It did take awhile for our appetizer to come, as they were packed on a Friday night, which we expected. The staff was friendly and kept our drinks full while we waited. Will definitely be going back again soon.

Nice place to hang out. Was able to watch the basketball game, George the bar tender made me a delicious Mojito. Food was ok, took a long time for a Salmon. Mash potatoes had too much pepper. Other than that it was good

Had an amazing dinner here. Aubree our server was amazing! Attentive, helpful, funny... she made for an amazing experience. It was our first time in, and will definitely be back. Food and drinks were amazing, worth every penny. Burgers and tots are bomb, definitely recommend. Eat here in Bakerfield, and not only will you be shopping local, but it'll be worth every bit of your time and money!

My boyfriend and I loooove this little spot🥰 never had a bad experience yet. Food is bomb. Drinks are bomb. Music is bomb. I just hate the rude crowd they tend to draw in. Upscale individuals who think they own the place. BUT, other than that we don’t pay them no mind & vibe out anyways. Highly recommend!!

What?!?! A lamb burger for lunch? We celebrated North Bakersfield Toyota's Used Car Technicians accomplishments and had a phenomenal experience. The lamb burger was different, delicious and delightful!

Packed up the family and arrived at 9:17pm. Google says they close at 10pm. We walked in and saw 3 customers sitting at the bar and another few tables of customers in the other part of the restaurant only to be told they were closed.

Really, really good food and drinks and the service is great! Our server is awesome 🤩 food delivery was fast and so were the drinks .. we had the steak sandwich and the barbacoa nachos , flavorful and in very good portions for the price .. the sweet potato fries are fire.. and so is are the drinks !! Patio and inside dining are very cozy.. you can bring the whole family..

We ordered jalapeño poppers and our bacon was burnt to a crisp. When we asked for a replacement (because it tasted burnt) the next bacon came back raw!

Would love to give a big shout out to the Social House restaurant!!!! We just had Mother’s Day breakfast there... The service and the food was absolutely wonderful❤️❤️ Also they handed out a beautiful red rose to the mothers.... we love the atmosphere.. everything about it!!! Our server was so professional and so sweet💕💕 thank you Social House for making our morning a great one!!

Ok the food is not bad, they should spend more time on the taste, and less on trying to make it seem fancy. Garlic aioli was the fad years back and does NOT go on everything. Burger was way over cooked, server did not even ask how much to cook it.

Everything I had here was so tasty. We had the nachos to start off with and they have their own cheese sauce and what was particularly good TO ME, was that they added pickled red onions. Before you say, "ew" give them a fair chance. Then my friends got the salmon salad and she was happy with it. Another friend got the apricot salmon and it was Amazing! And if you're into burgers, get one here.

Great food. Horrible service. 15 minutes without even being asked about drinks and then 40+ minutes waiting for our food without ever being checked on after we got our drinks. The staff is unorganized and nobody seems to know what they are supposed to do.

Oh my goodness, stopped in cause plans had changed a little. Got the Sliders, and The "Norman" pizza. Now it had a soft thin crust, with little slices of nectarine, spicy jam, jalapenos and mozzarella. its sounds like a horror story of menu item. But dont let that scare you off. It was freaking awesome and will make another trip over there just for that. So, the Sliders were great, the Norman pizza was terrific, the beer was cold and the service was great. I'm glad we made the detour and decided to stop.

Don’t come here for lunch. Waited 20 minutes to get our drink order and another 30 minutes for food that never made it to our table. We left hungry and disappointed.

Great place! We loved the fact that they had an actual outdoor patio with heaters and TV's, not just a thrown together tent like most. The food and service was fantastic and staff wore masks every time they were outside or greeting customers inside, tables were sanitized between each use. A table at the rear got very boisterous after having a few too many but the staff and owners acted quickly to remove them. After that the rest of our evening was great, lots of tables laughing at the drunks became a friendly atmosphere again. We'll definitely return.
