I sat at the bar with my husband and got the lavender lemon drop. When I tell you it was SO SMOOTH and delicious! Then we got the half sized beef nachos as an appetizer. It was amazing! It was a bit large for an appetizer tbh, but the taste was top tier. The beef was so tender. I got the Tuscan pasta with chicken because I wanted something different. It was very good! The chicken was tender, the sauce was perfectly seasoned and savory, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Beware, the portion is also pretty large, but it's great if you want to have leftovers. I also tried the "La Playa" cocktail, and it was good, but a little too unique for my tastes. It was sweet and strong, with a salty foam on top. My husband got the Sonder burger (cooked to medium), and I had a bite of it. The meat was very tender and flavorful. We both LOVED the smoky flavor of it.

Love this place , so decided to make valentines reservations.

Delicious food and a cool environment, but I can’t give that fifth star.

I went with a party of people for a reservation that was placed a week prior. We weren’t seated until nearly 45 minutes after the reservation time.

The waiting area is small, but made smaller when musicians are trying to set up and it was tight.

But the food was amazing! Everyone shared their orders and we had a great time after we were seated.

My husband ordered a popular burger but swallowed it up before I could take a pic. I got the beef stroganoff, which had a creamy, spiced sauce and perfectly tender beef.

The appetizers we got, poutine and the bruschetta, were amazing!

But the drink I ordered was missing the emulsified basil and the dehydrated strawberry garnish. When I asked the waitress if I had the right drink, she said it was correct, just missing the garnish. I explained it was missing more than just the garnish and she fed me an excuse about the drink being premade so “it just comes like that.”

I didn’t want to make a fuss so I let it go but there wasn’t even an offer to have it remade correctly.

As dumb as I felt that encounter was, the rest of the meal was so delicious I will 100% return for some good food. But maybe I’ll stick to beer or wine next time.

Reviews brought us here and they did not lie. Was amazing from start to finish. It was prom night for the locals and a lot was reserved but they were able to seat us right away. Can't say enough great things. Not sure who the live band was but they were also great. LOVED IT!!

Must dine! Sonder has a great atmosphere, staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Last visit I had my usual, the cioppino. It's one of the best I have had. Extremely flavorful! They are known for their fried chicken and mom said they did not disappoint. Very good and not greasy. We ordered the Cubano to go and we are cuban so it had our stamp of approval. Bring it on home with their creamy creme brulé. Hope you get a chance to stop by!

Update to my last post. Friends and I had brunch today. Still delicious. We shared, 3 types of avocado toasts: salmon, goat cheese, prosciutto. All had amazing flavors. Next we shared, French Toast with eggs and poutine tater tots. All I can day is come hungry 😋. We washed it down with bottomless mimosas, micheladas and sorbet champagne. Sonders never disappoints. The service and food are great. It's a great place to go hang out with the girls or date night. (Not pics are available, we were too hungry 😂.)

Great ladies night place! The food was great loved the Golden Girl salad. I loved my beer local tap blonde, but my friend wasnt happy with her martini. Our server Taylor was fantastic and got her a glass of wine instead. Live music was fun and the whole place was had a fun vibe.

Not sure whats going on here... the place is beautiful and nice. Servers were also above par. I ordered nachos and got a huge glop of cheese that was all filmy and curdled. Steak was over cooked and tough. Im not sure why everybody goes here I wont be going back. Food 1/10.

I have to say its such a fantastic dinner experience . A friend made me go for a steak dinner with him the night before leaving Bakersfield, and Im so disappointed I didnt get the experience sooner... I would have probably eaten there every night! Love this place!!!

I have tried lots of there foods always been good quality of food. Some nights they decorate they plate other night not. But the food is always good. The Mac and Cheese is really good. Lobster ravioli I recommend that as well the steak if you like pepper it s on it I know now to ask for it not to be in it. The French dip is really good as well.

Ordered take out from here, over $100 worth part of what we got was the Angry Fried Chicken and it was extremely salty, it was terrible. Not edible because of how much Cajun seasoning it had. The inside or the chicken was undercooked as well! Then the biscuit was so over cooked, it was CRUNCHY! Very inconsistent.

The food here is amazing for the starters we had their brussel sprouts with pork belly and the Buffalo cauliflower. For my entree I had the cioppino with fettuccine noodles which was amazing I definitely recommend this place

I had a great experience here at Sonder. Our waiter Jake was friendly and fast with delivering mh drinks and meal. I had the Bako Burrito with fries and ice tea. My friend and I shared some bruschetta as well! It is a little on the pricey side but youll get quality service and food. Will definitely be back!

Very disappointed with the manager, Hannah, at this restaurant. I was part of a large group that had a reservation, but when we arrived, there was no table prepared for us. We had a confirmation email with the correct number of guests and the back room reserved. Rather than be helpful to the 20 of us waiting, the manager, Hannah, was rude. After about 30 minutes, she pushed tables together for us (even though we reserved the back room, and it was empty ). She even went so far as to say, this is the best I can do for you, and you can keep looking at me like that all you want, but it won t change anything. I couldn t believe it. Our waiter, Temo, was very helpful and also seemed upset at the lack of preparation for our party. He worked very hard to make our experience turn out positive. The food was also very good. It s a shame that a manager almost ruined the whole event, and I know we will be leery of returning anytime soon.

The food was really delicious, however, we made a reservation for a party of 20, confirmed the reservation a week prior to the date, and when we arrived, it took them almost an hour to seat us because they said that they had other parties as well and 12 was the best they could do until they had more tables available. But they knew for more than a week that we had a party of 20 coming in at that time and we had the confirmation email confirming our reservation. The manager, Hannah was rude, condescending, with an entitled attitude. She said that 12 was the best that she could do right now and we could take it or leave it, she also told my friend that made the reservation you can look like that all you want but nothings going to change. Her attitude and behavior put a damper on the first hour and a half we were there. However, after that, the service was great, our waiter was Temo. He was attentive to everybody, he was very kind and accommodating, he was great with the kids in our party, as well as the adults. The food was also fantastic. I see other reviews of other people that have had difficulties with reservations, so maybe it s better to come as a walk in with only a few people or make a reservation for a smaller group versus a large party of people, because it seems they tend to have a hard time accommodating you unless you rent out the party room in the back, which we were unable to do because it was already booked.

Showed up here with a reservation for 8 people. We were told to we had to sit outside. We explained that we have a newborn and an Autistic toddler who is terrified of flies. I was told we could wait for an hour and a half to be seated inside. My whole experience was awful, I will definitely not be returning.

Ive gone to Sonder twice in the last 3 weeks. The first time was for brunch on a Saturday right when they opened in the morning with 1 other person. It took a while for a waiter to even come to the table to acknowledge us. Once we finally ordered, the food took at least 45 minutes to get to the table, and 2 other tables that sat down after us received their food before ours. Most of the food was pretty good though. The second time I went for an early dinner around 4:30pm on a weekday with 1 other person. When we walked in the door, no staff acknowledged us for a good few minutes, not even a simple well be right with you. We finally got seated, ordered food, it came out, but was missing one dish (order for it was never put in), no big deal. The food was also pretty good again. We finished eating and sat for about 10-15 minutes, waiting for someone to acknowledge us so we could get the check. Most of the staff was hanging around the bar area just talking. I almost got up to walk over to our waiter, but finally someone was cleaning a table nearby and could see we were wanting to get our check. The service is definitely not what it used to be. Im not impressed, and will probably not be going back.

WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE RETURNING!! Was my first time trying out this restaurant with my spouse. Seemed to be a slow night for a Friday night, we did not get our WATERS served till 20 mins after sitting down!! Servers kept walking around passing our table and no one took our food order if it wasn t for the bartender leaving HIS AREA!!! DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME COMING TO THIS PLACE!! HORRIBLE !!! I will be letting my family and friends know about this recent experience!! The food is great! I really enjoy Sonder for the food, but the service we received last night was awful. We waited an hour and a half for our food and were told that two large groups held up food preparation. Unfortunately I noticed other visitors that were seated after us were receiving food. We spoke to the manager she was able to give us a business discount, but this unfortunate incident has left a bad taste in my mouth. Poor communication appears to have led to this lack of service and could have easily been rectified if the wait time was communicated to us. We may spend money again at Sonder but not anytime soon.

We love the food but once again we went on 1/2 off Wine Wednesday and every bartender has a different story. It says on the menu ALL wine but we ordered Presecco (white sparkling WINE) and that s not included-what??? It was last week. Ordered Rose and that s not included!! Fix your menu or just be consistent! We re done!!

This place is great! The food was delicious, the service was on point and the atmosphere was perfect. We went on a late (9PM) Saturday night date and had the brussel sprouts with pork belly, bruschetta and some wings. To drink we had some house margaritas, Usual Suspects and some PBR in a can. Great food and drink options, comfortable seating, relaxed place to get good food, drinks and enjoy a live performance. Not too sure about the performance part.... guy two tables over got up, went to mic, took guitar and tore it up for four/five songs. Really talented singer! Was pretty slow, so service staff was very attentive and friendly. Props to all.

The lobster ravioli OMG! It s a must. Super rich and creamy with lobster in the sauce and in the ravioli. Great and flavorful. The portions is big so would recommend sharing with someone else. Like a dish for two. Also the appetizers are good

I got here and was seated. Stephanie informed me Jade would be my server and would arrive shortly. Jade never showed but Stephanie took my order and was checking on my regularly. I got the country fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash browns and a raspberry sorbet mimosa (recommended by Stephanie) and let me just say everything was amazing from the service to the food and idk if anyone cares but the hash browns were crunchy and delicious also a little girl ran into the street and the staff me members were making sure she was under adult supervisions before letting the little girl leave their site. Good place with good food drinks and staff

We recently went to Sonders after about a year of not going and we loved it so much that weve gone 4 times in a two week period. The food is amazing, atmosphere great and the staff is nice. My only slight complain is that once the staff leaves your table it is mission impossible to find them let alone get them to your table. When its busy I totally get it, but the times Ive gone it didnt seem to be busy. The staff is polite and knowledgeable about their menu I just wish they were a little more available and not just come to our table when they take the order and drop off the food. Overall great experience.

2022 Update: This place has been totaly turned around. We love it here. its been a couple weeks but during my last visit Staff literally did nothing as a young lady sat at her table and drank alcohol while her two kids ran around the entire restaurant screaming. How did this young lady deal with her kids misbehavior? She screamed back across the entire restaurant. Other customers left but i decided to stay assuming it would get better and the kids would sit down and eat. No such luck.

Sat at the bar which was left dirty even after they cleaned up the glasses. Ordered a bourbon with light ice which I got a glass almost 3/4 full of ice. Ordered the ahi tuna which was overcooked. Never given any silverware or a napkin until I asked and never asked if i wanted another drink. Cool atmosphere with the couches and patio but nothing made it worth a second try.

Really disappointed. SERVICE was not great. We waited over an hour to get our food and we were the first people there when they opened. Got a bottomless mimosa at brunch but only received two glasses because the waitress was never around. Food was okay.

I had the salmon with pesto and veggies. It was incredible! The sweet potato fries were the best Ive ever had!

Service was excellent, which is not easy to find these days for sure. Unique menu with very tasty selections. The watermelon margarita is extra refreshing. Must try the bruschetta appetizers with brie. Even the brownie sundae is enjoyable regardless of how full you may be. But it does have plenty of loose nuts so a caution to those with allergies. Only thing I would say I miss is an espresso after dinner, otherwise a very fine dining experience

I enjoyed the atmosphere, our waitress Lex was amazing. Good was kinda bland, but, the presentation was on point. The only complaint I have was a very rude girl who came to our table, she was another waitress named Lauren. She was very rude for no reason. She spent the entire night ignoring us, because we switched tables, and didnt know who our initial waitress was. If you have her wait on you, do yourself a favor and ask for Lex.

My wife ordered French Toast for brunch, and it was underprepared and undercooked. The side order of eggs were overcooked, and the champagne in her mimosa had been opened for too long, and had gone flat. I ordered the Philly Hash. And it was very greasy. Also, the servers couldnt be bothered to answer our questions regarding the quality of the meals, as all 4 of them were conversing by the door.

Horrible service. Waited for about 30 minutes before I had to get up and ask one of the waitresses if they were going to take our order. I understand many places are understaffed, but the place had an abundance of empty tables. The waitresses they did have, kept circling the same tables while we patiently waited. Mind you you, we were accompanied by our two small daughters who were also patiently waiting. Not the first time this happened to us, but I wanted to give them them the benefit of the doubt. Definitely dont recommend the mediocre food and horrible service.

Great place to rewind after a 3 day team meeting. Brownie dessert was a bit dry but ice cream blended well. No rush to leave after last call. Staff was amazing! Kudos!

Great food, great service. Had a great appetizer, the bruschetta Board. My wifes chicken was very tender. My Cob salad was scrumptious. We topped it off with a cheese cake. Will be back.

I really like the atmosphere. I was really looking forward to a nice Sunday brunch with my girlfriends with bottomless mimosas and good food. When we walked in the door we were asked if we wanted to be sat inside or outside, we asked if we could be sat outside and the hostess went to go check outside and then came back and grabbed menus and did not say another word to us or make eye contact and went back outside. Confused whether or not we should follow her outside we went anyway. We were sat in the only table to us direct sunlight. As soon as we got to the table she asked us if we wanted drinks. Mind you I have never been here and need a minute to look at the menus. We did not see another waitress for another 40+ minutes. By this time I was getting a sunburn on my face and my hair was hot enough to fry an egg on. We asked a few times if we could be move or move the table or get an umbrella or anything and nobody offered any help or relief of any kind and I felt like they blew us off. Another larger party was getting great service and was being tended too hand and foot the entire time having their bottomless mimosas refilled every few minutes. By the time the waitress came back with my food my mimosa was warm from being in the sun. I do not recommend the Sonder scramble unless you like unseasoned scrambled eggs and one slice of thin, small, dry, hard, toast, two 4in by lcm thin pieces of bacon for $14!!! I rarely make a fuss about a place but the service was just really crumby! Im sad to say that this first experience will most likely be my last.

The service was fantastic! And we were there on a busy Friday night! The menu is not typical Bakersfield . The food was awesome... Golden Girl Salad with shrimp - yummy and the drinks! Wonderful and different!.We will be back!

The food (patty melt, golden girl salad, and pizza dip) was good. It was a bit overpriced. The patty melt was the favorite of the three dishes. The sauce and onions really made the dish. I would have preferred more sauce on it though. I enjoyed the golden beets in the salad. The pizza dip came with a miniscule amount of bread. Even when loading the dip onto the bread, we ran out of only about one third of dip when the bread was gone. Of course they charged a couple bucks for an extra side of bread that came with about as small an amount as the initial pizza dip dish. The outdoor dining was well set up and overall a nice experience. The atmosphere was pleasant. Naturally there were some flies and a small spider kept crawling on the wall near my wifes seat. I wont go here often, but will likely return at some point.

Best food experience I have had in a long time! Best food in town, right as you walk in to the door you notice a great vibe from the people working there and the generosity of the staff is amazing. The owner came to talk to us and showed great hospitality, we are DEFINITELY going back!!

Party of 7? Not so bad right? WRONG... we ve had to make numerous requests for someone things like sugar for tea, forks, I ordered a drink THREE TIMES! Still never got it! It sucks because the food was great and the staff still all smiles but like really ? 3 hours? Unless I m drinking and hanging out I should be at dinner for 3 freakin hours. Ridiculous
