Black Angus Steakhouse

Overall the restaurant was nice and the theme is western.
Had a few mixed drinks that were average.
Ordered the tomahawk steaks which we ordered medium well.
The steak was nice and juicy not dry at all.
We also ordered the wagon wheel sampler and everything on it was really good.
The salads were nice and fresh ordered the Caesar salad.
Our server was very nice and was at our table constantly asking if we needed anything.
Very good service.
Overall it's was a nice dinner.

Bartender Josh and Chantelle were extremely welcoming and both were great on recommending certain drinks and appetizers, Jesse, the manager was also very welcoming customer service skills were impeccable.

Our experience was great overall. Our server Andrea was attentive even though she had a party for 10+ of kids going to winter formal sitting next to us. The food and service were great, I highly recommend getting reservations. We had ours at 530pm, got there around 510pm, and did not get seated until 540pm.

Went for Veterans Day with my girlfriend & was expecting a decent free lunch but wow, that was the best 6oz Sirloin I’ve ever had. The staff was nice and the vibes were good. Yes, my meal was free so it may seem biased but like I said, I took my girlfriend and you know how that goes ($$$). Not only was my meal free, they also gave a 15% discount for the whole table.
anyways, that was the best free meal I’ve ever gotten and honestly I feel like Black Angus really loves Veterans. God Bless the USA. (2016 Fort Polk and 2024 Veterans Day)

What can I say, I was completely underwhelmed. The server never came back and asked how the meal was and never came back to refill my drink. We Got the spinach and artichoke dip. The Parmesan cheese they put on top to bake was extremely salty which was proceeded by a tasteless dip. The broccoli was super hard and as big as my fist. My rib eye steak was supposed to be cooked medium rare but came out more like a medium which transitioned this being very well done on the edged. The steak looked unappetizing because they seared it on both sides for a few seconds and didn’t even turn the steak 45 degrees to create diamond marks. Talk about terrible presentation. I can only assume that very inexperienced cooks are working in the back. The steak though had much flavor and was a well seasoned piece of meat that they probably salted overnight but other than that the only thing this place has going is probably the atmosphere.

This was the first time visiting, I was greeted and sat pretty quick. The food was really good. The service was very friendly. The restaurant was very clean. Only problem I had was when I wanted to pay, I was told the reader was down on the credit card machine. But after telling the waitress the only way I had to pay was a credit card, the manager came out with a portable card reader. That was a little questionable for a nicer restaurant.

Have gone multiple times now and have not been disappointed yet! My date described the taste as stunning. Had to wait a while to get it but it was definitely worth it! Our waitress/hostess was nice. Great atmosphere. The sweet molasses bread wasn't what I thought it would be. Came out fresh, warm, and soft but after about 30 mins was starting to dry out. Steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered, well done was still juicy not dry at all. The Ribeye and New York strip steaks are very fatty compared to the Top Sirloin. No matter which steak you get though expect it to have good flavor. Au Gratin potatoes were AMAZING they did not skimp on the cheese, same with the macaroni. Regular mashed potatoes look plain but surprisingly had great flavor. Artichoke spinach dip had great flavor also definitely could've used more cheese though. Garlic cheese bread for an appetizers is a great choice, amazing flavor with lots of cheese. Mud pie for dessert still not sure what it was exactly but it was delicious as well. Also the cowboy chocolate chip cookie is good. Comes out warm with a scoop of ice cream. Overall food is great be mindful prices are pretty high (so try to find some coupons) and you have to make reservations but would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

The food was fabulous! The steak was so juicy that I didn't need any sauce. That's my gauge of a great steak. The salad could have used more ranch but overall it was good. The server had too many tables to be attentive. They were friendly but couldn't check on things on a timely basis. The bathroom was really dirty and the faucet was loose. The carpets leading into the bathroom were old, dirty, and worn. I'd return for the food but would probably get take out.

I’m a traveler from Australia, I had dinner here with my partner and we enjoyed everything about this place.

Our server April is one of a kind, she made us feel so comfortable, it was as if we were invited to her home for dinner, she is an absolute asset to this place.

Enjoyed my meal at Black Angus, Rosedale Hwy. "Amanda" is a great server. Why are the display cases in the front of the restaurant empty? This seems like a wasted opportunity for the company.

We had dinner here and it was great! Great service, our waitress even brought us an extra plate so my wife and I could split our dinners, and we still had leftovers! I had the Cobb Salad which was fantastic and she ordered the New York steak also excellent! We will be back! The house made Blue Cheese dressing was yummy and creamy! Reasonably priced too.

Stood in the lobby waiting for an employee to approach me, never happened. Eye contact was made however, nobody said a word to me. Restaurant was mostly empty!! 5 employees were just standing around talking. Not one of em, including the hostess at the counter said a word to me. Unbelievable. I’ve eaten at a B.A.S before, foods great. Not sure bout this one because I was never seated. Sad.

I want to start off with staying... we have been coming to this establishment for the last 10 years...and last night at about 6pm will be the last time we step foot inside.. sadly..... My husband and I arrived and approached the reception area and there were 2 parties of 2 ahead of us.... as we waited our turn... we over heard the parties asking the hostess "Nicole" that they wanted to sit in the bar area... which was busy.... and she told them... ok.... As we stated our name to the hostess, we also told Nicole that we would like the bar are.. and she stated that the bar are was packed and we stated that we will wait.... now the couple behind us, we started talking to the couple behind us and they stated"man we hope we can get a seat in the bar also... you should tell the hostess that we are a party of 4 so maybe we can be seated faster....so we waited.... I was standing by the bar, and I was watching people leaving the bar area and I was thinking cool we will be seated soon... WELLL..... our name was called, and we approached the hostess and she proceeded to try and seat us in the main dining area,, and I told her... we wanted a seat in the bar.... and I have seen at least 3 tables leave already... she rolled her eyes and told me well I will have to let her know and it will be longer.... I was like ok.... THEN..... like 2 min later... she called the couple behind us... the guy stated to us... I am so sorry.. you guys were here before us.... and they told my wife to ask for a particular waitress to be seated in her section... and then walked them into the bar and sat them.... my husband and I were like "what the"......she came back and I stated to her... we were here before them... she stated "THE HAD A RESERVATION" which i know they didn't.. due to the fact that they stated the just were a walk in.... I let it be.... well my husband asked to talk to a manager... the hostess left and was gone for a good 2-3 min... and then came back with a Manager(not sure his name) well my husband proceeded to tell him what happened and the manager chuckled when we observed the hostess seat the party before us.... and then stated well I can kick then out of that table and seat you there...
and then the manager stated that there were 3 tables available would you like to be seated.... my husband then asked me and I said yes I want to eat here... so we were seated.... then my husband sat and talked to me about what else happened on how the manager was basically laughing in his face about how the hostess was making us feel and seating people ahead of us and lying about people having reservations.... so I said well lets leave.... so we got up... I went up to the hostess and asked what her name was and she said NICOLE" and then said "and you guys have a great night" I am writing this because we have never been treated this way from any restaurant.... and we have many friends and relatives, and also have a sister in law that was a manager there for many years, and all I can say is WOW!!!! I will be calling corporate and filing a formal complaint also!!!

Not very impressed with this venue. We ordered the tomahawk steak which disappointed by how much fat it had. It also came pre cut which in my experience is a cheap way of hiding that the cuts didn't come from the same bone. Our waitress said she was new but she did w decent job. This place is geared towards more locals because if you flew in, there are better options.

I ordered dinner to go from here for my family last night as we were celebrating. Never again will I order from here. For what they charge you. You think you would have a good portion or at least good food. I paid 5 extra dollars for loaded potatoes with broccoli and chesse. The cheese cluster was all melted to the 2 pieces of broccoli in the cold potatoes. Potatoes itself was hard and not soft at all for a baked potatoe. My daughter ordered a kids meal and I laughed when you could count her side of fries. 7 fries they gave her Trust me I could go on. I will never go here again and I would tell anyone else to spend they money on better establishments like Texas roadhouse or outback steakhouse. Extremely disappointed especially because we ordered from here expecting to have a real treat and regretted we didn't just go to McDonald's.

To Whom it may concern,
Hello Black Angus establishment, my name is Balair Brooks and my family and I had an horrible experience at your establishment at 3601 Rosedale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93308. The evening started out like any other, and we checked in for our reservation and were seated after 15 to 20 minutes of waiting. During our time at the restaurant we ate our meal and had our beverages like any other customers. They were even nice enough to sing happy birthday to me. However, when it was time to close our bill that is where we had our issue. The waitress took my girlfriend's card and swiped the card three different times. Afterwards the waitress came back and asked for another form of payment. We calmly explained to the waitress that the payment already went through and showed her through the Wells Fargo app that the payment had already been taken out and that two other charges had been tried to be taken out. The waitress then took out her phone and took a picture of the transaction and proceeded to show the night manager that the payment had been made. She promptly returned and said that the manager would be out momentarily to discuss what the situation was. We waited for 20-30 minutes for the manager to come out only to be treated rudely. The manager explained that even though he saw the proof that was needed for the transaction that the system did not register that the payment had been made and requested that we give him another form of payment. My girlfriend refused and told him that the money had already been taken out of her account and showed the transaction that was made to Black Angus. The manager still insisted that we make another form of payment. All of this was done while he was still holding on to my girlfriend's bank card. Then my mother tried to talk to him intellectually explaining that if the payment has already been made and if you tried to take out more money that was in the account then obviously the card would be declined. He refused to acknowledge my mother's logic and still insisted on asking for another form of payment. Then my younger brother who is a manager at another food establishment tried to explain to the manager that if their system was possibly messing up that it can seem like the establishment wasn't paid, but after providing sufficient proof that there shouldn't be an issue. Yet again the manager insisted that we pay again with another card. So then I talked with the manager and told him that the bill had already been taken care of and there was no reason to be demanding more money because the establishment was having an issue with their system. The manager then said that he would go check the system, and turned to leave towards the register until he turned around and asked my girlfriend to call her bank and have the representative from Wells Fargo confirm that the payment had been made to the establishment. So after waiting on hold for another 15 minutes, we finally got a hold of a Wells Fargo representative and they explained to the manager that the payment had gone through along with the two other declined transactions that the waitress tried to swipe. Afterwards the manager tried to rebuttal with the representative saying that the payment had not gone through and another form of payment was to be made. Afterwards we took our card and our food and left the establishment. This type of unprofessionalism was unwarranted and clearly reflected poorly against your establishment. There was no type of apology and no type of compensation made for this manager's transgressions. I am asking for something to be done.

I was on hold for 45 minutes on 9/27. I called spoke to Dana regarding missing items, she said she’d check on my order and get back to me. I hung up after 15 minutes. I called back again and Nicole answered the phone, I discussed speaking to Dana and my missing items. She also said she’d check on my order and get back to me I was on hold for 31 minutes before I ended the call.

Standard steak house, exactly what you get.. Only one chicken plate offered, otherwise it's steak and seafood.. food thrown on a plate, Mashed potatoes come in a lump, and look like instant. Best thing about this restaurant was the server she knew what she was doing and was one step ahead.

We had a lovely dinner last night, although they were out of their advertised filet medallions. My husband ordered the regular filet which was cooked to perfection. And a special shout out to our terrific server, Cari/Keri/Carrie, in the bar area. I ordered what I thought was a potato with bacon and cheese with broccoli dish, which turned out to be just a pic of a side choice that went with his steak. When I complained a bit that it didn't match the picture which I thought was misleading, the server immediately intervened, took the actual picture to the chef and he created the "dish" pictured which was DELICIOUS. This was all performed with a smile and graciousness. What terrific food AND service. We certainly will go back.

The place is like a refrigerator. Two coats are not enough. We asked if the could reduce the intensity of the AC but they said this was not possible.

The service quality is random. Some tables get a good one, some others (like us) get a just-ok-service

Wife and I arrived around 6 PM and after waiting briefly we were lead to seat in the bar area, they where not seating in the dining room not sure why, we where sat at a booth that was nasty dirty, old torn/tear beyond acceptable, after looking around the entire place was dirty and disgusting will not surprise me if they are planning on shutting down for good.
Food was great and service even better Mark took really good care of us, but we wouldn’t be coming back simply because of how dirty the place is.

The food was good but the customer service was atrocious so I'll probably never go back and tell my friends and family don't bother either. I stood in the front waiting to be acknowledged for a counted 12 minutes! A simple "I'll be right with you" wouldn't have hurt anyone. The manager who I came to speak with saw me twice and ignored me as well. A waiter named Mark came from the bar side finally to help me and get the manager who took his time helping me with an order that ended up being wrong anyway. I was overcharged for an online order. The service was so bad and my family and I were too hungry for me bother bringing up the mistake and waiting even longer for our food. Unfortunately this is the only location in Bakersfield.

*** After receiving a response to my review, I was advised to contact guest relations via email. No one responded to me/contacted me or anything at all so it was pointless 🙄

We've started making a midweek night out and enjoying the "Campfire Feast." it's a dinner special for two . Look it up, it's a great deal and the choices they give you are great and it's plenty of food for 2, not to mention the price is great for a night out .

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the manager, I believe his name was Jessie. Customer service was stupendous, made me feel at home. I had the tomahawk for 2 dinner, it was so delicious. Price, atmosphere, location, and customer service were superb. Will for sure come back!!! Recommended

I've been mouth-watering waiting to get to this place again. But my steak was so dry, same with my potato barely any butter or sour cream. I probably should have just ordered mashed potatoes. I didn't see the waitress for like 8+ minutes. I wasn't going to sit there and wait when you come into a restaurant you're hungry! My asparagus was just thrown on the plate, some was overcooked with that being said the presentation could be way better.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Black Angus! We were greeted by an extremely friendly hostess and taken almost immediately to our table. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and had excellent suggestions. Ordered a few mixed drinks, their bartenders really know what they are doing. The food was out much faster than expected for how busy they were. The food was high quality, especially considering how reasonably priced it was. We never had to ask for refills or anything for that matter. Had the cowboy cookie for dessert, absolutely delicious. Thank you to all the staff and managers at Black Angus for giving us a wonderful experience - we will for sure be back! #loveblackangusbakersfield

We have been loyal customers for over 2 decades. We are used to seating ourselves in the bar area. Today we were approached by a server stating we can no long do that. The booths were worn out and had tears. It took us almost 2 hours to get our food. My mother’s bread to her sandwich was hard, hard as the ground and only got 3 thin slices of meat. My father and granddaughter’s shrimp was dry & overcooked & the restaurant did not have tartar sauce. During out 3.5 hours there, our server only checked on us once and that was to hand over the tab. The women’s restroom had a stall that was leaking excessively. It was reported, yet the issue was not handled. This was a waste of money & time. We will not be going back.

I decided to try black angus steakhouse with the Uber promotion of buy one get one free meal. I chose the 6oz steak with shrimp for $24 and added the extra $5 charge for the roasted corn, honey glazed asparagus and crispy onions. The picture says it all! Just opened to see that asparagus was burnt mush. Not even a 1/4 cup of corn. And no crispy onions. The picture showed the shrimp to be grilled not deep fried. The steak looks like a hockey puck. And it’s the exact same for the other plate. And they gave me one roll for two plates. If you want a good deal for some great steak, go to Texas Roadhouse on Ming. Never will I ever again come to black angus.

Went today for Mother’s Day and when I went to open my napkin a small cockroach came crawling out. When ask them to take care of it they said sorry it was a pincher bug. Wrong guys I know the difference. Could hardly eat and wasn’t even offered a discount or an apology. Very disappointing.

When we arrived the dinning room was closed due to no servers. That is fine things happen. So we opt to eat in the bar area. Not one table clean and the dishes were pilled on the bar top. OK we figured they were short staff. Again being in the service industry myself I can except that. A young gentleman cleaned a table right away for us. We must have been there during shift change. The first waitress was great. She must have left and we were never notified nor did anyone come back to our table for almost 45 minutes. We had a high top with 4 people. The bar had pretty much cleared out and plenty of workers, standing around talking, and not ONE stop to clear a plate nor ask if we wanted more beverages. I ended up piling our dirty plates on the uncleared table next to us that sat there for more than 2 hours. I ended getting up asking for the bill and to go boxes. Sorry to say we took our business else were. We would have probably stayed several more hours for several more rounds and dessert. But since it was a business meeting we decided we needed to leave and not stair at all the employees talking and not one old table being cleaned nor serviced. I wish I knew the 1st servers name but I am not sure if the name on the ticket is hers. Below is what I stared at the whole time I was there.

Carey H was our server. She was very friendly. She was extremely busy and she kept her cool and took care of everything very efficiently. She's absolutely top notch.
The food was delicious. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

Went 2 nights in a row. First night in the bar area, everything was great.
The second night went to the bar area, sat for 15 minutes with zero acknowledgment from any staff and zero service. I left the bar and got a table in the dining room. Service was great and the food was very good. Beer was warmer than it should have been. The restaurant atmosphere is pretty dated and dull.

My partner and I unfortunately made the very poor decision to reserve a table online at Black Angus on Wednesday 4/24 at 9 pm. Now if you do not plan to attend your customers after a certain time it is disrespectful to even give them the option to make reservations and if you refuse to do your job. As someone who comes from the restaurant industry this is the worst dining experience I’ve had. To start we waited probably 15 minutes just to order drinks. And an additional 15 to order our food. Okay 30 minutes of our hour left we have to dine. When placed our order we asked our waitress (the girl with the brown hair pulled back in a bun and big eyelashes) for an order of bread. She proceeded to walk to the group of servers sitting down near the bar and talk to them rather than place our order. We then waited so long for our bread that we finally asked the guy cleaning tables to get it for us. Approx 40 minutes for our food to come out and by that point the atmosphere was miserable as we were being made to feel rushed out at that point. Our food arrived half cold and the steaks cooked improperly to what we requested. Our server did not check on us once and we had to get up multiple times to ask for water and condiments however she had plenty of time to sot around and chat with the guys at the bar and make sure their beers were filled. She finally came when she was ready for us to leave and we asked to speak with the manager to express our concerns as we could only stomach about a third party of the food. He really had such an apathetic attitude and expressed no remorse as he just tried to give us excuses. He then said I’ll see what I can do and never returned to our table. We then waited 15 more minutes to take the dessert that came with our meal, Togo and again had to go out of our way to go pay the bill at the bar. After all is said and done, if I’m expected to pay 130 for the most subpar food I’ve ever tasted and put a tip on top I Atleast expect to receive halfway decent service. This was not that. I’m not usually one to complain and This could all be met with understanding had they been understaffed and extremely busy. This was not the case as there were maybe five tables when we arrived all eating or getting ready to leave. When I physically see my server sitting around talking to coworkers and joking and not fulfilling something as basic as some bread. Not to mention other paying customers having to get out of their own seats to request things or food not being cooked right. My complaint ends here however be weary bc the cherry on top was waking up this morning with both my partner and I throwing up and having diarrhea from food poisoning and that’s the only thing we ate together :) the only time I have not felt bad for leaving no tip.

WARNING Black Angus will also somehow switch all bad reviews to an alternate fake restaurant (Give Me Sum). Had an 8:30
BLACK ANGUS BAKERSFIELD reservation. Almost 10pm and still waiting for Food. Ordered Drinks at our table but Had to go to the Bar and got served faster. It's Busy but this is the worst service I've had here. I've been been to this location many times but this was bad.

Foods ok , service a joke. I’ve ordered food to go several times and have held back from providing a review thinking maybe I just received bad service the first few times but thats not the case. I order food to go , get a text that the food is ready for pick up and then when I arrive it is not and I’m stuck waiting in the Lobby for 16-20 minutes till they can figure out what the status of my order is.

Walked, in got seated after a minute. We sat there for 5 minutes before someone said they would be back to take our drink order. We sat there for another 5 minutes and nothing from anybody, so we got up and left. We will NOT EVER go back to this place again.

All I can say is that for the price, we would have gotten a better meal at sizzler. Also, so many "up charges ". I only like butter on my baked potato, the server said, so you want everything? Just put it on the side, I said. Extra $2.50. My mother's soda was $4. Bread was good.

Me and my family were traveling and decided to stop in here for dinner based on the reviews. When we entered there was good music playing and various things to watch on the TVs. We were seated promptly and then things went downhill. Our waitress was sweet, but on another planet. She brought us the wrong drinks twice and forgot our silverware. The salmon and steak entres were tasty and cooked well, but the broccoli side was mostly stems and there wasn't much of it. The kids mac n cheese was bland, and the green beans had way too much lemon flavor. The chocolate cake was good, but nothing special. We were not impressed and wouldn't recommend eating here.

I came from New York to Bakersfield to visit my Nephew took us to dine in at Black Angus. The manager Jesse stop by to greet us and gave us an appetizer to welcome us. The food was amazing and we can't wait to visit again whenever we have another opportunity. We loved the atmosphere and everything we had. We recommend this place 100%

I ordered a salad to go, I waited for 40 minutes to get it. The salad is pathetic and definitely not a $20 salad.
As I stood there and watched the workers I noticed their manager touching food without gloves, use their cell phone and then go back to preparing food.
I was disappointed with my experience.

This used to be my family’s favorite place to eat, however we have had two bad experiences in a row and none of us will be returning. Our last family dinner here was an awful experience, we had reservations for 5pm. Upon walking to our table the facility was noticeably dirty. Trash on the floor and the carpet is obviously dirty. Keep in mind they were not busy at all, hardly anybody was sitting at any of the tables. We were seated at a table and waited to be greeted by our server who came by and took our drink order. She seemed friendly so that was nice. We finally got our food at almost 6:30!!! Over an hour of waiting for our food, our appetizers came after our actual meal which she said was because of a computer problem however the family next to us got their appetizers prior to their meal. The food quality was just not what it used to be! A steak that was supposed to be medium rare was overcooked, the mashed potatoes were a weird texture almost obviously instant potatoes. We needed ketchup and our server had never come back so we had to flag a totally different server down just to ask for condiments. We sat with empty glasses in need of soda refills as the server shows up to tend to the other tables passing us by. Our family loved this restaurant and have had many birthday meals here but unfortunately we all agreed that 3/3/24 was our last time wasting money here. We paid $220 for low quality food and terrible service.

Our experience was great overall. Our server Andrea was attentive even though she had a party for 10+ of kids going to winter formal sitting next to us. The food and service were great, I highly recommend getting reservations. We had ours at 530pm, got there around 510pm, and did not get seated until 540pm.

I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was excellent at this location. I had new York steak, it was served hot and meat was super tender. The potato with sour cream likewise hot and fresh. I had such low expectations, but left very happy.

This was the most expensive fast food I have had. We were seated right away and our server greeted us as "you guys" (repeatedly). Our appetizer was served to the next table (that had just arrived and ordered the same). So I asked for our appetizer and moments later our steaks arrived. Timing is everything and I am not rushing back for this experience.

Have gone multiple times now and have not been disappointed yet! My date described the taste as stunning. Had to wait a while to get it but it was definitely worth it! Our waitress/hostess was nice. Great atmosphere. The sweet molasses bread wasn't what I thought it would be. Came out fresh, warm, and soft but after about 30 mins was starting to dry out. Steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered, well done was still juicy not dry at all. The Ribeye and New York strip steaks are very fatty compared to the Top Sirloin. No matter which steak you get though expect it to have good flavor. Au Gratin potatoes were AMAZING they did not skimp on the cheese, same with the macaroni. Regular mashed potatoes look plain but surprisingly had great flavor. Artichoke spinach dip had great flavor also definitely could've used more cheese though. Garlic cheese bread for an appetizers is a great choice, amazing flavor with lots of cheese. Mud pie for dessert still not sure what it was exactly but it was delicious as well. Also the cowboy chocolate chip cookie is good. Comes out warm with a scoop of ice cream. Overall food is great be mindful prices are pretty high (so try to find some coupons) and you have to make reservations but would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.
