Twenty three years ago, continuing the culinary dynasty of the Sicilian Drago family and currently considered to be one of the best kitchens in the city, Giacomino Drago launched the highly popular and acclaimed Il Pastaio (“the Pasta Maker”) restaurant in the heart of Beverly Hills.
The food is good but nothing ground breaking however the atmosphere was not it. The restaurant by itself is cute and cozy but that cannot be said about the crowd that goes there. They judge and behave like arrogant celebrities who think they're better than everyone. Did not feel comfortable. The service was good it's just the people that destroy the vibe of the restaurant.

They have a TV to do a slideshow if you would like to feature some photos- we showed our baby photos. The food displays were gorgeous- we did a dessert bar and the food and plating were stellar. A nice private entrance to the event space- great for guests and load in and out. They had a beautiful sign marking our event outside of the entrance. Nina and the whole team are outstanding!

Just a hop and a skip from Rodeo Drive you’re wondering if it’s a hype train but I was graciously surprised by the overall quality and service they put on. Indulge yourself with the truffle pasta dish (enough to share). The steak special was a treat. Delicious, clean, and perfectly cooked.

Memorably good food. (!) The seafood spaghetti (Scoglio) was both rich and savory in seafood flavors mingled with a lightly spicy marinara (reminiscent of cioppino) and nicely loaded with meats - I'd eat that dish everyday if I could. Excellent. The spinach risotto that I sampled was eye-opening - first bite and you really take notice. Rich, buttery flavors and wonderful texture that was creamy and slightly al dente. Perfect. Cheesecake dessert was also amazing. Decadent. Fantastic table bread on request with self-serve oil and balsamic on the table. Lively and modestly elegant atmosphere with sidewalk dining. (Inside dining might spare you the occasional engine-revving sports car wooshing by with music to share. *rolls eyes*) Courteous and accommodating service. Open quite late on the weekends and busy past 11pm. Make a reservation. Highly recommended, especially so for the food. Our entire party left fully satisfied.

I was really looking forward to trying Il Pastaio, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The bread they served was cold, stale, and tasted like cardboard, and to make it worse, they charged us for it. We were seated at a flimsy table outside, which didn’t help the atmosphere. It took forever for the server to come take our order, and when the food finally arrived, the seafood ravioli was chewy, tough, and cold to the touch.
That said, the ossobuco was a highlight—it was tender and flavorful, and the fresh mint tea was also quite nice. However, the service continued to lag. It took 34 minutes just to get a dessert menu, even after asking multiple people, and the tiramisu took another 13 minutes to arrive. While there were some bright spots, the overall experience didn’t live up to expectations. I'd recommend going somewhere else.

Food was ok, nothing crazy. I’ve had much better authentic Italian food for much cheaper.

Overrated and overpriced.
Justin Bieber pasta is fine -- just a standard vodka pasta you'd get at any Italian restaurant in the country.
$56 truffle tagliolini was straight up not good. Cecconi's $50 truffle pasta blows it out of the water, and even UOVO's at half the price does as well. When served outside in the winter, the half-life of the flavor of the cheese is super small as it cools off quickly.
The $28 cheese wheel is virtually a scam. The waiter did not announce it, and I just happened to glance behind me and the waiter was 4 feet behind me preparing the dish in the cheese wheel. I actually should have asked for it to be removed from my check since I barely got to see it.
Branzino tasted great but I estimate only about 6oz of meat on the fish for $40.
Bread pudding and panna cotta were excellent. Tiramisu was bad: none of the ingredients had any flavor except an overpowering espresso taste.
$1.50 baskets of very good hot bread and butter was literally the highlight of the meal lol.
The outdoor tables are too cold in December. The heat lamps were like 10 feet above us. I had to keep my winter coat on the whole meal. Felt uncomfortable asking to change temp as there was another table two feet from us sharing our lamps.
The music was the weirdest collection of B-side Christmas songs no one’s ever heard of.
The restaurant takes up too much of the sidewalk around the entire block such that you can barely walk on the street here when it's busy.
Service is excellent and food came out very quickly.

I enjoyed my Saturday’s dinner night with 2 delicious pasta dishes. The first dish is the “Bianchi E Neri” features a black-and-yellow tagliatelle pasta with fresh clams, elegantly served in a light sauce. The contrast of colors in the pasta and the tender clams make it visually striking. The second dish is “Linguine Con Crostacie” a rich and inviting lobster pasta, with the lobster perched atop a bed of linguine tossed in a savory tomato-based sauce. The vibrant red of the lobster and the hearty pasta creates a mouthwatering presentation that promises bold flavors.

Horrible experience. I cannot make this up.
We order drinks and Cesar salads.
The drinks come but an hour later no salads. We can't find our waiter or any waiter except bus boys who keep saying they will find the waiter but to no avail. We finally see our waiter and as I'm about to ask where our salads are he takes off his apron and gives us a peace sign as he walks off the job. We were so confused and dumbfounded. Did he just quit ?
Then another waiter comes and has no explanation for what happened. We reorder the salads and more drinks. One of the salads comes with a hair on top. They take it back. All of the salads come and the salad with the hair still has a hair in it for the second time! The same hair! I told the group we aren't paying for anything. The manager comes and says he can comp the salad with the hair in it and give us a free dessert. Our bill was probably $100 and after two hours waiting for salads, a waiter quitting and receiving a salad with hair in a twice and all he can do is comp one salad? So no, we didn't pay. I never liked this place to begin with because the food isn't even any good. Instead I recommend Laconda Veneta for amazing good quality Italian. I will never go to this place again and will forever tell everyone about this experience at what seems to be a nice expensive Italian place in Beverly Hills but in actuality it's disgusting.

What a poor performance tonight. I am coming from Germany, but I am am coming regularly since many years. Tonight I was more than disappointed. The carpaccio di bue I ordered came in a way that you could see, that the care to give the food appealing look was missing. There was a pile of cheese slices. There were a few blots of a so-called mustard sauce, without a specific taste. Just poor. 2 large capers could be found too. Most importantly to mention that the meat was thinner like a news paper, which made it a dry eating experience. The meat stuck on the plate like somebody fixed it with glue. It needed to be scraped off with a knife.
I also ordered pasta. Bianco I Nero. Baby clams in a wine sauce with black and white pasta. The pasta was okay. The clams
where sandy. The sauce was without character. The wine was cooked away completely. Not a great experience.
Service was actually not existing. I ordered a bottle of wine. One glas was poured. The rest was self service. The bottle was around the corner, as I sat outside, but was reachable with my hands. So I had no option, but serving myself. The waiters saw it, but even did not make an attempt to serve me. I finished the bottle by servicing me myself.
WHAT A POOR OVERALL PERFORMANCE!!
At the end I was forced to add a service charge of 18% to the bill, as to give less was not possible by their system.
This made my experience even worse, as I could not express my bad experience.
To finish this report, I was not asked, if and how I liked it.
This encouraged me to write this while finishing my wine I had to pour myself.
It is great that Beverly Hills offers other eateries to avoid disappointments like this.

Hello Il Pastaio team. I want to notify you of an experience I had at your restaurant today. I have been coming to this restaurant for a long time and always loved it. But what happened today, absolutely disgusted me. I have brought my rabbit in a carrier with me to the restaurant and set it on a chair next to me. Outside. A server came up and fully knocked over my child. On the ground!!! After that he stood there, did not pick up my rabbit or say sorry, at all. This is perplexing to be honest. No apology, no trying to make it better. This is a live being, a child and it was hurt . I would not be sending this email if he tried to make it up but he did not care and thats very low of an employee in a restaurant like that.

This was a complete tourist trap, overrated and unnecessarily expensive, just like many places in Beverly Hills. The food was disappointing. The caesar salad had withered lettuce, the 'Justin Bieber' pasta lacked authenticity and flavor, just like its name, and the rigatoni in it was nearly uncooked, not al dente. The chicken piccata looked stale, making it hard to cut, not breast or fillet meat. The tiramisu's bread felt like sponge cake, not ladyfingers.
I was playing with my nephew's magnet toys and suddenly realized the utensils were iron, not even stainless steel. What kind of high-end place skimps on basic quality? Also, a broken cocktail glass added to the letdown (see pictures).
The only things were the table wrap breads with olive oil, and the pleasant room and table setup. Thankfully, the waitstaff were courteous, which was a silver lining.

Father's Day is not an ideal day to venture out, unless you plan to take in lunch at 1500hours. Then it works. This eatery did not disappoint. The food was well balanced, well portioned and presented. The waiter looked like Robert De Niro in 1985, he even had the facial expressions mirrored perfectly by default or blessings, this guy was so similar. The food, again, it was like being in Italy, eating where the locals eat. The sauces were done perfectly. That is an art. The waiter was beyond attentive, he owned the real estate with his presence alone. You knew he meant business and that was making sure everyone got fed quickly but with a little speed bump or two along the way.
The atmosphere was 75 year old men with their second wives who were now in their 50's, Guys wearing bling and big sunglasses backwards over their ears. The loader the bling, the smaller the financially sound and growing bedrock below. Less is more applies to everything in life. On this Father's Day, II Pastaio served food that was just splendidly perfect yet not at any moment overproduced by taste. They make food the Italian way, to the core and that is why it is such an exceptional restaurant They stay laser focused on the roots of Italy and respecting that, they have the respect and fierce loyalty to the Italian way of cooking, baking, serving and presenting, from start to finish, II Pastaio is flawless. it would be amazing to experience the food here again during a weeknight or late Sunday lunch.
