I would say LA Scalas is a wonderful place to dine. From the food, service and atmosphere definitely give them a 5 star. Think of old world Italian food 😋 The servers know there menu and the entire staff is devoted to the restaurant they've been there for years. The bartenders are Friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend LA Scala's

I have been dining at LA Scala for years...decades actually, although it had been a while. On Christmas Eve we had reservations at another restaurant. It was chaotic and they were running very late. We stood waiting for 45 minutes. My husband stepped out to see if we could find a table somewhere else on such short notice on the holiday. La Scala accommodated us and we had a truly lovely meal and time in every regard. Highly recommend!

The servers all have this high horse attitude.
Dingy, saying it's old school because they can't afford to remodel. They are rude as heck! As for a substitute on an item or need more dressing?
NEVER will they give ot to you or make you feel like crap and say there doing you a favor.
Whattttt!!!!! Staff is a huge problem.

We had an issue with a half order and the lack of a prive listed on the menu for a half order. We were charged 26 for a half order when the full order was 28. When we spoke to our server we were told the manager was not available until Monday and that half an order meant two thirds less sauce. We did not leave a tip and were deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism at this establishment. We expected more from the server and management. The menu must be clear as to the price of a half order and what it means since we had two very different understandings. The way they handled our grievance was highly lacking in customer service and professionalism.

Have been going for years, and used to love it. But the service and food has gone way downhill, just like the old Brentwood location. They gave my wife a rancid bowl of soup, she had two spoonfuls and almost threw up. The waiter said they don’t take it off the bill and just took it away. Never checked on us, crappy service, crappier food, in an empty restaurant on a Friday night. I hope the owner sells before this one goes out of business as well. Or maybe it’s time has passed and it’s time for it to be gone. I know I won’t be back and I know I will take all of my BH business lunches somewhere else. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Their famous chopped salad never disappoints. The full size is very large, glad I shared. The chicken parmigiana was a bit tough but so tasty. Our waiter was funny and attentive. The bread bowl , I'd probably give it a miss, dry toasted french bread, not inspiring.
The biggest downer was the state of the washrooms, please clean them.

Sad to say that for this special occasion (a belated bday for me), this photo is the best part of this experience. The service was inattentive, the food very mediocre and the waiter never even asked why I did not eat my horrible small salad (iceberg lettuce with tomato wedges and shredded carrots). Sad.

I’ve been eating chopped salad with my New York girl friends at La Scala for over 20 years. I love the old school booths, the location & everything on the menu. My Italian friends say the food is authentic & the service is always warm & friendly. I’ve written several previous positive reviews praising the staff & management. Several weeks ago, I ordered my usual chopped, substitute the lettuce for arugula only to be told they will no longer do that. I can’t believe something I’ve relied on for many years is now forbidden. When I offered to pay extra or let them use anything green other than lettuce the manager told me the owners have asked the chefs to refuse such requests.

My dietitian told me 12 years ago that lettuce has no nutritional value. She insists I use kale, spinach watercress or arugula instead. The doctor confirmed her recommendation explaining that because lettuce is mostly water it has the added problem of containing more GMO’s & or pesticides than any other vegetable. For all these reasons I haven’t eaten lettuce for over 10 years. As a breast cancer survivor, I take nutrition seriously & try to always eat healthy. My girlfriends are the same.

We live in a city that serves dressing on the side, & is always eager to accommodate people with special dietary needs. I’m upset to learn La Scala no longer does so.
I hope my post will help management reconsider.

This used to be one of my favorite places to have lunch, but the quality has gone down over the past few years. I mean, it's not a bad place, but it was once much better than it is today. The food quality is noticeably less palatable than it was when I used to live out here. I wish the staff paid more attention to their surroundings, because I had to repeatedly ask for my waiter, but he was too busy talking to another one. I have enough good memories of this place to say that I would definitely come back, but I expect the management to inculcate into their wait staff a better appreciation of their customers.

This is a classic old Bev Hills Italian restaurant (think red leather booths), bar in the back, white table cloths. Warm, inviting and with some killer favorites! Think spaghetti bolognese & chopped Italian salad! Extensive wine list, fabulous menu and all prepared to perfection. It's an iconic place. I love it.
But, disappointed we were overcharged on the bill, (they corrected it) and though I told them we were there to celebrate our birthdays, no one offered us a token dessert, or treated it as special occasion. It was a shame. We went on a cold and rainy day. Oh, well. You're sure to enjoy the food!!! and it's a popular place. No reservations at lunchtime. Prices $$+

Don't get me wrong -- I love the La Scala food. Truly, I enjoy their dishes but this one-star review is because of their unaccommodating and unreasonable staff. I came in today with my 85-year-old grandfather; my grandmother had dropped him off curbside due to him being unable to walk. They refused to seat us - even though the restaurant was EMPTY--because we were not a complete party. Need I again mention that he is handicapped and obviously elderly. I was stunned by this.
We went down the street to Porta via and had ourselves a lovely lunch.
Now I know why the place is always empty!!

I was doing uber food deliveries the night of January 12th and came here for a pickup at the end of the night kind of late around 10pm. The manager was there waiting at the bar and greeted me while another waiter went back to collect the food order. The manager indicated they were waiting for me since it was their last delivery too. It was just a few minutes considering he came back with 3 large brown bags of food which included spagetti, veal parm, fettucine alfredo, garlic bread and a number of other other items. I left feeling happy as this was one of my last deliveries after a full 10 hour day (Standard for me so i can save money for med school and my rent etc). I went to Inglewood to deliver the food and when i got to the recipient they did not answer the door, reply to texts, or phone calls. After contacting uber support uber allowed me to cancel the order and I still got paid and in addition uber said that I could do whatever I wanted with the food order bc there was no place to leave it which guaranteed it would not be wasted. The delivery also required a pin number so they are handled a bit differently when the customer cannot be found. Soo heres the best part that I hope to share with La Scala and its customers - I was able to take all of this delicious food and distribute to homeless persons who may otherwise go hungry. So I hope La Scala managers and owners and staff know that on Jan 12th they directly helped feed the less fortunate and the food they prepared was put to good use and not wasted. Even if I left all the food on the street or by the trash someone would have found and eaten it but I just wanted to make sure you guys know that after uber greenlit the cancellation that your food was not wasted and you helped feed the less fortunate. Hopefully they enjoyed the food you prepared that night as they might not have gotten the opportunity otherwise and hopefully you sleep well tonight knowing what a good thing you were able to do for the people of Los Angeles. Thank you to those involved for making the food with such care and allowing this to happen the way it did.

Ive been going to this place for more than 30 years since it was in little Santa Monica, this past couple of years the place has gone way down. I decided to give it a last chance last week and it was terrible!! My son ordered his meal and it was not well prepared (he always asks for the same dish), when asked for a little more sauce to fix it, the waiter refused arguing that once it left the kitchen he couldnt do anything about it. We asked to speak to the manager and after 10 minutes or so that he refused to come to the table (but he was speaking to the waiter in front of us all the time) he decided not to fix the plate and instead refused service to my son. So at the end he wouldnt come to the table, wouldnt authorize the extra sauce (even with extra charge), and wouldnt serve anything else to my son. This is not acceptable at a place like this or any place, either hes only interested in money or he has no clue on how to work a restaurant!

What a shame to destroy a legacy that way....

Never going back again!!

I hadn’t been to La Scalia in many years, but my BFF wanted their Cobb salad. We were seated immediately and then forgotten. We waited 15 min for water then had to flag down 3 different waiters to bring us water. nb the place was not busy and some waiters were just standing around. Finally he came to take our order. I have some dietary issues so wanted a piece of grilled salmon. (We went thru the 5 Easy Pieces scene). Me: I don’t want the bread, lettuce, tomato, dressing, etc. just bring me the salmon. Waiter: I don’t think they can do that. Me: could you check, plz. Waiter: I’ll see but I don’t think it’s possible. He came back and said , reluctantly, OK. I got a piece of grilled salmon, somewhat dry, between 2 pieces of Ciabatta.
My friend said she wanted to treat us to the wine, so when the check came she asked for the bottle of wine to be put on a separate check and then we would split the food bill. Again this waiter side it was impossible to do. We asked to see the manager and ask him. The waiter came back about 5 mins later with the wine on a separate bill.
I was disappointed with the whole experience since I had had pleasant memories of La Scalia. It’s such a corner stone of BH restaurants.

A somewhat historic dimly lit fine dining restaurant. Currently they offer patio and indoor dining. Reservation is recommended if you plan to enjoy your meal after 7PM, as they sometimes will close around 8 if there is no business.

The decor is eclectic and welcoming. Mirrored wall on right as you enter. White table cloth, candles and comfortable leather booths. Each table has painting and different lamp, ambient lighting throughout. There are caricatures or photos of celebrities that have enjoyed a meal that line the top of walls. Hard to see at night because of lighting, so suggest lunch to see them. Small cocktail lounge serving just about anything you desire.

There is good choice of entrees including chicken, salmon, steak and veal. You can choose entree with vegetables or even salad. No dessert menu but choices include tiramisu, chocolate mousse and cheesecake. Fantastic wine and sparkling choices. Limited by glass choices for champagne but you can get split or choose bottle for table.

The food and service were excellent. We both enjoyed different veal entrees that were delicious. Our server was welcoming, had good sense of humor and was able to make suggestions. For example dessert. We wanted to share something but she advised wasn't big enough to share. We ordered 2 different choices and shared!

I am fan of old school traditional dining because the food and service is usually better. This did not disappoint and we look forward to our next meal here!

As far as COVID protocols, all servers wore face masks. It is recommended but not required to wear mask. There was no social distancing required on our visit because it was late evening dining. Our booth was in corner near cocktail lounge. As other patrons entered, they seated them away from our table. It did not appear that patio seating was 6 feet apart but protocols are changing.

I’ve been a long-time customer of La Scala but this place has gone very downhill. They make a great chop salad, but the rest of their food is mediocre at best - pasta is rarely cooked well, most of their dishes just don’t taste good and orders are often just made incorrectly.

What prompted this post is the service. It feels like every time we go in the staff is inattentive and difficult. Even when we order online they don’t make accommodations (in particular my wife has a dairy allergy and they refuse to not put cheese in her salad).

There are so many good Italian restaurants in LA… sadly this just isn’t one of them anymore. Highly suggest you take your business elsewhere.

Saturday afternoon we went there...service was nothing to brag about..the same as food. Lasagna...cold and no flavour....costco lasagna is much better honest. Lobster ravioli was swimming in oil...and for god sake if you complain....you better not ...they argue and argue and argue

I am a huge fan of institutions. Love a good chopped salad. Consistency is great! Unfortunately the bad attitude of the manager is also consistent. Some people are not cut out for customer service or leadership. It’s not a flaw, they should just find a different job.

We've been going here for over 20 years. With all the great restaurants in Beverly Hills to choose from, we like Scala the best.

Best place in Southern CA for dinner. Have eaten there more than 100 times. Always take guests from out of town. Fabulous food. Best ever. 🥰

Our two servers were amazing. Management & host were NOT!
Deplorable service. Bathrooms lacked sanitation! Terrible!

The chopped salad is the ONLY reason why we keep returning to La Scala.

We have brought these, poor service concerns and complaints to management. They could care less. When I requested to speak to the owner, I was given a phone number to a receptionist who took my message but did not put me through to the owner. I was told the owner only visits the office but once or twice per month.

No response to my dissatisfaction from the owner yet.

We are long time, loyal patrons on the brink of not returning again.

WE DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PLACE. (for the fact of poor management, hosts and especially: inattentive owner)

Food was amazing as usual, however, the service this afternoon was really off compared to usual....other servers had to eventually help us pay our bill...the young man supposed to be our server was sitting up at the bar!!!... but we will go back because the food is so good! Think this was an off day/ shift change for our server...

I wish you had a negative rating for this restaurant so that I can give them a negative 5 star rating, the rudest staff I ever encountered, two of us went there for lunch, we sat down in a booth that accommodates at least 4 people, once we ordered our lunch we received a call from a business associate that wanted to join us for lunch, he expressed that he was 5 minutes away, we asked the waiter to bring an extra salad for our business associate, the waiter said the we "don't allow joiners" what is a joiner we asked, no one can join you for lunch once you are seated replied the rude waiter. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT, CHECK THEIR RATING ON YELP AS WELL. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

What can I say about La Scala? It’s an icon! I have been going there since middle school. I absolutely love it and have loved it almost my entire life. The chopped salad is the best!
The service is exceptional and so is the food. You can never go wrong at La Scala. There is a reason it’s been around for so many years.

Very nice place and the food was outstanding but our server was not up to the task. The server received 2 stars for too many things. But, I would definitely go back again!

If I could post zero stars, I would. They lost our reservation and that alone would have been understandable, but as we were trying to figure out what on earth happened, they quite literally shoved us aside to accommodate all the people that came in after us, not even acknowledging when we really just asked ‘can you accommodate us or should we go elsewhere?’ A yes or no would have sufficed. I’ve never been anywhere so rude in my life. Seriously go next door or keep walking and don’t waste your money here.

I am always surprised when they pass out menus at La Scala because when my family goes, everyone gets the chopped salad. My boyfriend is deeply confused about what makes this salad so special, since it has few ingredients and nothing so unusual. The best explanation we have is it's all about the dressing. All people in the party must be present in order to be seated, and they get quite a lunchtime rush so try to err on the early or late side in order to avoid a long wait for a table. The bread is served cold unless you ask for it toasted, which they will do. My mom also loves the lemon cake when they have it.
