Genwa Korean BBQ stands as a preeminent establishment within the realm of fine dining Korean cuisine in Los Angeles. For nearly two decades, we have been renowned for delivering an exceptional culinary experience characterized by premium-quality Korean BBQ and traditional Korean delicacies. Our commitment to excellence has garnered us accolades and acknowledgments, positioning us as one of the foremost Korean BBQ restaurants not only in Los Angeles but across the nation.
An enjoyable night. We called for a reservation, and as soon as we got there we were brought back very quickly. We got package E for 5 people, and it came with a nice assortment of food. The service was superb, and the staff was very kind and explained everything well. They cooked the food for us in the grills at our table, allowing us to converse without worrying. The food was cooked perfectly and was at a very nice quality. My only qualm was the price: around $500 for drinks and tip for 5 people. The menu prices were not posted online, red flag. Unlike many other Korean bbq restaurants we’ve visited, the food is unlimited. Here, not the case. If you want good quality food and are able to forgo the unlimited quantity (and have a deep as hell wallet), it’ll be a great night. If that bothers you, I suggest to look elsewhere.

Food was really excellent and service was good. We ordered lobster, shrimp and scallops and they were all cooked by the waiter. Then we followed with an order of marinated beef and it was tasty and tender. I have no idea of what any of the side orders were, buy most of them tasted great. Service was very good but not great. Very pricey but worth the experience.

They burnt all our BBQ - which didn’t taste anything special anyway. Knowing Korean food very well and having been to South Korea and eating Korean across the US, Singapore, Dubai and other countries, I can confidently say that their Bibimbap was the worst I have ever had (old and none-fresh ingredients, very dry rice, non-cooked potato and flavorless). They forgot to bring out some dishes on time so they ended up remembering to bring them out as soon as ordered the bill. Very disappointed with this restaurant and questioning if they only served us left overs or if their google reviews are authentic to start with!
The only and I MEAN one and only good thing about this place is the wide variety and abundance of appetizers (Banchan) they brought out to the table. These were actually not bad at all.

Genwa in Beverly Hills was my first Korean bbq experience, and it did not disappoint! The meat was deliciously marinated, and I thoroughly enjoyed the table cooking experience by the servers.

Amazing Korean food! The best banchan (side dishes), which in my opinion are the unsung heroes of Korean food. The sauces were all so delicious and dare I say… that they’re all made in house? A bit on the pricey side but you won’t regret it! Part of what makes it pricier is the high quality and quantity of banchan so don’t forget to ask for a refill (or two!)

The meat is extremely tender and savoury; side dishes varied and excellent. Jap chae was a bit disappointing (but maybe we should have ordered the non-vegetarian option instead?). The iced green tea was superb. The spicy kimchi stew alone is worth going back to, although it was a tad bit on the salty side. Finally, for dessert we ordered the tempura ice cream (matcha) and it was delicious.

Pros: Quality of the food was good.
Cons: Pricey. Also, a lot of reviews mentioned the copious variety of side dishes…and yes, there is a large variety, but perhaps as a result, these portions were ridiculously minuscule- literally bite-sized! Additionally, and maybe this isn’t a fair criticism, but for a restaurant with round shaped grills, the fact that they haven’t incorporated a circular lazy-susan for the sides is almost inexplicable as we had to constantly pass the teeny little dishes back and forth across the table.

I always judge Korean restaurants on their kimchi and side dishes. Genwa is exceptional! The variety and quality of the side dishes were an absolute treat and almost upstaged the Kalbi. This is the best Korean BBQ experience I have had outside of Korea.

Delicious food and helpful and friendly staff. We were able to make reservations for our huge group (28) and they were able to seat us at a few tables. The staff was super great and so fast. We had a group of people with allergies and they were great about telling us which banchan was safe or not. The food was SO good!

horrible experience with bad service. It's supposed to be a high end korean barbecue place, but the service and quality is worse than any place you find in K-town. first time they overcooked the beef and it tasted dry, second time they burnt all the meat. and when we mentioned that the beef was burnt, the server not only didn't apologize, but said that the meat is still raw and red on the inside. burnt on the surface and raw on the inside - what a quality service. Also, we ordered a steamed egg and it never came. definitely not worth the $100 per person price tag.

Genwa is my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant in Los Angeles! My fiance and I love Korean BBQ and have tried several other places in Korea Town and in other parts of LA, and Genwa tops them all. We have been to the Genwa location on Wilshire a few times, but most of the time we go to the one on LaCienega in Beverly Hills, and the service and food there is fantastic every time! (And the sake too!!!) The appetizers that they serve (which are complimentary) are wonderful, and so is the Kimchi, and whenever we entertain guests from out of town, they are flabbergasted when the servers bring their tray filled with probably 20 different appetizers to the table, and they bring as much more of any of them as we ask for. Our favorites are the glass noodles, the Kimchi, the pancakes, the braised beef, the potato salad, the radish kimchi, the cucumber kimchi, and the spicy hot peppers... getting hungry just thinking about it! Awesome food and awesome experience! Wonderful place for a special occasion!!!

One star for the food quality, another star is for the side dishes. However, I took off three stars because firstly the waiter barely served us. Secondly, the combo’s quantity is absolutely not enough, even for girls. Lastly the price does not match the quantity, too expensive for the service and quantity.

1. Side dishes: good
2. Meat quality: good
3. Service: bad
4. Food portion: 3 people combo is actually meant for 1 person. ( we had two small size girl and one man)
Overall, you guys need a lot of improvement in term of service and portion. Overprice and overrated.

I have to rate it at least 4 stars because the food was really good and it was a pleasant experience overall. I've never had so many banchan served before! That said, it was pricier than I would like. $26-$28 for simple vegetarian dishes like bibimbap is just more that I'm comfortable with.

Great place with nice ambience. Meat for BBQ is fresh and of good quality. Marinated meats well seasoned and tasty. Plenty of side dishes - more than the typical Korean restaurants we’ve been to. Only downside is that it is on the pricier side and the taste profile doesn’t exactly remind us of what we had in South Korea. However, all in all the food is good and will definitely be back for more when in LA. Do reserve in advance as it gets very busy during meal hours.

I couldn’t finish my meal because the food was bad, my daughter and I ended up getting some hotdogs on the way to our hotel. Our last day in LA could have been a lot more satisfying was not for this place. There are so many far better Korean reataurants in LA.

I've only been to this Beverly Hills Genwa location, and it was often for b-day occasions with family. If there is any Korean bbq restaurant that matches the quality of Ktown bbq outside of Ktown LA, then this place is it. Yes, it's in a pretty rich white neighborhood, but the food here is very authentic tasting. And the meat quality used in the bbq is top notch, right up there with Quarters and Baekjeong. The only down side is that it is pretty pricey, so you will be spending a lot of money if you come here. But for a special occasion, such as a b-day or a group dinner, it is fun. It's a nice, elegant and spacious place. Did I mention the banchan selection is amazing? Go here just for this!
Genwa is one of the k bbqs that I cover on my YouTube channel called Rockstar Eater, under the video 10 Best Korean BBQ restaurants in LA.

The service at this location is great. All the servers seem to work together and help each other; it's not like other restaurants where you see servers standing around and only minding their own area. One big plus at this location is that when you leave, you don't smell like a restaurant.
The food here is so good and the portions are big. The banchan is great. The Bulgogi is so good!
We've were going to the Mid-Wilshire Genwa long before this one. They're both excellent places.

So I had my graduation party here several weeks ago and it was a great success!!!
The private room upstairs has a small booking fee but was totally worth it. It fit over 45 of my friends and family. Our servers Ed and Sofia really took care of us. We had ordered numerous grouped courses which had such a great variety of dishes already, but they were super accommodating with additional dishes from different individuals as well. I especially appreciated the attention to detail they reserved for my cousin and guest, who are vegetarians. THANK YOU for helping them feel welcome at a K-BBQ restaurant.
The private room doesn't have the grill tables, thus all our dishes were cooked on the side and served to us...which was actually very beneficial because we were wearing nice clothes from the ceremony and there wasn’t a fear of smoke smell clinging to our clothes.
For the meat dishes, I find that the price is not as low as other places, but the quality and service has always been superior.
Ed and Sofia also remained very calm while dealing with little kids running around and friends/family coming in and out to greet me. They also helped me cut two whole cakes to serve to everyone as well.
And of course, in Genwa fashion, the numerous barchan dishes excited my family so much because they love kimchi, pickled vegetables, egg, as well as other small dishes. My dad told me that next time he visits LA, I should take him back to this place. =)

They even lack a few meat choices that authentic KBBQ places would offer (*hint* pork jowl). Never again.

You may find food somewhat pricey, but the service level is extremely high and your dish will come with so many sides that it's a fair price in my opinion. I like their set courses because they allow you to sample a lot without having to think much about designing your meal. More importantly, the food tastes great. Also, you won't smell much like frying afterwards despite the fact that it's a Korean BBQ. And it's great to not have to drive all the way to K-town.
