South Beverly Grill

Friends and family for a few years now have been telling me I have to visit South Beverly and I finally had the time to take my family this week. I would just like to say how much I enjoyed my experience with very friendly and accommodating staff and delicious food. We showed up on a Wednesday at 8PM. It was extremely busy but the front of house was very kind and apologetic and offered to get us started with alcoholic drinks on the house until our table was ready. Thankfully we only had to wait for around 15 minutes and so we sipped on our cocktails by the bar until our table was ready. We were given an excellent circular booth with a good view of the whole restaurant, great for people watching. In regards to the food, we were all very pleasantly surprised. The only thing I would say is that the food came out too quickly. Even the warm towels were brought to our table very quickly when we were only half way through eating our dinner. We just felt a bit rushed but other than that the food was delicious and we were all very happy. We got their famous spinach and artichoke dip for a started and then the burger, ribs and roast beef sandwich for our main courses. I loved my evening overall and will definitely be returning soon. I also liked that most of the people seemed to be locals instead of tourists and so it feels like a nice hidden gem for the locals. They have valet parking and there is some street or public parking available if you plan on driving.

My favorite place in LA for years. Consistently is key, excellent food service and ambiance every single time. Sushi is one of the best in the world (including Japan) seriously, I’ve tried all the best sushi places in California and this place has my two favorite rolls and it’s not even a sushi place!
In shorts, this is my go to place will come back here over and over and over. It just never gets old, and doesn’t disappoint. Not sure why I never reviewed this place but it’s about time.

This place is so underrated. Its my first time going and the pictures ive seen in the internet doesn’t do justice on how great the place is in person. To be safe and not knowing the quality of their food, I ordered a cheese burger over medium with a side of broccoli and it was incredible!! Ive been to a lot of restaurants and get burger but this is I would say on top of my list. Its bomb!! 💯🔥 definitely a must visit

Everything was amazing. We stopped here while visiting Beverly Hills. We did not have a reservation but were graciously seated. The atmosphere is subtle with a hit of elegance, and the service was excellent. The food & drinks were amazing! A great visit.

사실 로데오 드라이브 주변에 생각보다 맛집이 적어 전에 그냥 예약없이 왔다 대기 길어 실패한 곳인데
위치+가격+음식+분위기 모두 합격!

요즘 흐름답게 일식 요리에 젓가락까지 있으면서
전형적인 미국 요리도 맛나다!

일단 분위기가 맨하탄에 미국적인 밥집들 몇곳 Gramercy Kitchen 등보다 오히려 더 좋음. 엘에이 밥집의 정통(?)을 보고 싶다면 추천!

Came here for my birthday dinner.
I ordered two wines. First one was turnbull ( wasn’t a fan) the second wine was revolver, 10/10 so I kept that one. I appreciate the sample so I knew ahead of time.

I also did my normal hot water with honey and lemon.

I appreciate how they allow any and every server to assist you, makes everything more efficient.

My favorite place in LA for years. Consistently is key, excellent food service and ambiance every single time. Sushi is one of the best in the world (including Japan) seriously, I’ve tried all the best sushi places in California and this place has my two favorite rolls and it’s not even a sushi place!
In shorts, this is my go to place will come back here over and over and over. It just never gets old, and doesn’t disappoint. Not sure why I never reviewed this place but it’s about time.

Love this place. Always packed and for good reason. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant has a chill but intimate vibe. The cheeseburger is delicious, as is the chicken salad and pretty much everything else we've had. Book ahead as depending on the night, it can be difficult to get a reservation.

Not bad. But what you pay is the location, not the food. Nothing special. Paper table cloth... and they don't give any appetizer while waiting (let's say bread and butter for example). Average restaurant with a great location.

This is a must try! From the atmosphere to the food and staff, this place is top notch. We had the Brussels and bread plate to start and both were delicious but the bread plate was on another level. The way they glazed the thick cut bread with the olive oil was out of this world. We also had the wedge salad which is slightly different than your traditional wedge as it came with thousand island dressing. Yum! We shared the cheeseburger and fries for dinner and it was definitely one of the best cheeseburgers we’ve had! We will definitely be back! 5 stars!

This used to be my spot, and I never ever had an issue when going out to lunch or for a business lunch. One day, I decided to drive down for a nice lunch. Being summer, I was wearing a baseball cap. They sat us, took our order, and we were halfway through our lunch when one staff member came and whispered that I needed to take my hat off. I was like, 'Okay, I can take my hat off if you ask everyone here to do the same.' She left, so I thought, 'Okay, maybe she's going to let it go; a small mistake is okay, following rules without looking first.' She came back and asked me to take off my hat. I said, 'Let me speak to your manager' (famous words nowadays). The manager was even worse; she brought up the attire rules and claimed that all five people there had medical conditions. Like, come on. I did not want to make a scene, so I paid for the stupid food that I did not get to finish, and put the waitress on the spot. She was very apologetic. I was not going to post this at all, but I found the receipt, so why not post it here so people know who to contact to make a proper complaint if they have bad bias and nasty service. I felt pretty humiliated, to be honest, but I guess I have to take the hard L to not lose composure and sanity. Also, checking the Google pictures, you can find many people wearing hats... surprise, surprise. Now I just go to Frida's Cantina, Ocean Prime, Lawry's. I just wish they would of let me finished my French dip Maybe they were Yankees fans LOL.

We have been clients at South Beverly for a while and live very close therefore it was our preferred place to go, quality of food is very good but few weeks ago we experienced very unpleasant moment that shouldn’t of happened and caught me off guard.
We made 2 reservations by mistake 19:15 & 19:45, we came at 19:35 to check in, lady checked us in and said she’ll let us know when the table is ready, 20 min later we asked how long before we get seated, her respond was” you are next”, 15 minutes later 20:05 we see people that came after us already got seated, we asked again why is it taking so long and if everything is okay, respond was that we got there late, I mentioned that mistakenly we made two reservations and we checked in at 19:30, hostesses response was because we made two reservations we have to wait now! Second hostess came back and we mentioned to her “ what happened to being NEXT” … her response was because we made two reservations and due to being late we have to wait … I don’t know how many times I made it clear to them that we had reservation at 7:45 pm so we should get sitted sooner and I personally showed her my reservation confirmation at 19:45 on my phone plus she found it on the computer , next she called the manager… Manager came, basically supported same nonsense and put us on the waiting list.
What kind of customer service is this ?! Were we punished for making two reservations ?! Isn’t manager there to resolve the issue instead of treating customers this way, it was straight ignorance on her behalf. She didn’t even try to resolve the issue and kept saying same thing in very unpleasant way.

We would have appreciated if she just told us that we were taken off the reservation and we’ve been put on the waiting list so we don’t waste time. Not to mention making elderly person to stand and wait for so long plus to be so rude towards. It was our special occasion day and was ruined by someone’s mismanagement.
We finally lost patience and left this place.
Besides, for people who don’t have reservations the wait time should not be over 2 1/2 hours, just think about it, it’s not a court house to stand there for 2 1/2 hours waiting to be seated. How pathetic is that ?! This place needs a better management in my opinion. Feels like restaurant is making you a big favor by allowing to dine with them.
Food is great but management needs be improved !!! We are taking our business somewhere else from now on and never come back to this insult.

Probé las costillas y estaban excepcionales, el cole slaw y papas fritas muy sabrosas, el precio es alto pero es lo normal para BH. El vino recomendado no fue el acertado, y el costo es alto por botella, pero de nuevo, lo habitual para LA en general. El ambiente y el local es bueno, la atención también, hay que hacer fila normalmente, por lo que vimos siempre hay lista de espera. Recomendado totalmente.

Didn’t have a reservation, walked in on a Thursday night. Hostess was great and found me a seat at the bar without having to wait too long. Great vibe, friendly service. Will be a regular stop when in Beverly Hills.
Had a Reissdorf on tap, excellent. Got one of the sushi rolls which was great, and the Dover Sole special which is served Thurs/Fri and was outstanding. If I lived here it would in my regular rotation.
Highly recommend.

5 stars way up! Outstanding food! Try the deviled eggs! The shrimp Louie salad was not only stunning to look at but tasted so fresh! The shrimp were succulent! Great menu! Excellent service. Everyone in the staff were super friendly. Loved the wine selection. Glad they have parking. Highly recommend

We were only here for twenty minutes. We did not have food but the experience was terrible. The hostess initially told us hats were not allowed. The waiter was so sweet and took our initial order. I took my hat off at the table. After seeing other people in hats, I put my hat on. The same hostess who checked us in told us for the second time it wasn’t allowed (despite other people in the restaurant with hats on). The waiter updated us and told us it was a “recommendation” and for women it was okay. We got the check and left. I do not write reviews often, but this really brought my good day down. I told the server it wasn’t his fault. I assume he talked to his manager who told him what to say. Sucks a good recommendation by close friends was such an awful experience. I left feeling anxious and honestly sad. As I left I saw someone wearing a hat and enjoying lunch, which made me feel even worse. I cannot comment on the food, but the service was less than ideal. I can say Cecconi’s is close and great though.

The Dover Sole (only available Thursday through Saturday) is absolutely worth the price, which varies as it’s a market price item. It’s lightly breaded and extremely flavorful. We also had sushi, and the sundae for dessert, which were both great. If you like high end new American cuisine this place is definitely worth a visit.

I’ve been to South Beverly Grill, Hillstone in Santa Monica, and Houston’s in Pasadena more times than I can count. However, there’s a NEW MENU at South Beverly Grill (Sept 2023), and all of my favorite items are gone! I loved the Hawaiian Ribeye, the Cowboy Burger, the Classic California Roll, and the Grilled Artichoke (which is out of season now). I had the cheeseburger, which was good but not as good as the Cowboy Burger. As always, the atmosphere and service are great. And maybe I’ll find new favorite items in the future. But I’ll have to get my favorites at Hillstone in Santa Monica, where the website says they’re still available.

5 out of 5. 10 out of 10. Full on white linen experience with exceptionally well trained staff. They know how it gets done in Bev Hills. I prefer the lunch service, but also great for dinner. People watching is a competitive sport in LA and the So Bev Grill is the plaza de toros.

We went here on a Monday at 3 PM (without a reservation) before taking a family member to LAX, and the service was speedy, the food was delicious, and we liked our server Natalie. We were pleasantly surprised by a swanky-looking spot near Rodeo Drive that didn't absolutely break the bank. We ordered bread, the Brussels sprouts, a rainbow roll, the famous French dip, and maybe some fish or a steak (can't remember), as well as the sundae and apple walnut strudel. All were great. We also brought a 6-year-old that ate a grilled cheese (and the adults also tried it), and she said she was sad to go and she wanted to stay at the restaurant forever because it was her new favorite, so two thumbs up from the kid, too. The only real bummer was that we paid $18 for parking because we were in a bit of a rush to be looking around for something else, but I don't blame them for that.

We'll be back with out-of-town guests again one day.

I was a bit disappointed, I’ve heard good things about this place. My order was just ok, the steak was not very good. Maybe it was a one off but it was very chewy. My company on the other hand seemed to enjoy their experience.

Sadly, this place has fallen so low in its service. I have been coming here since it opened. I supported it during Covid. Today, I came with family from out of town to celebrate my mother's birthday with her grandkids. When we made reservations, they said that they don't take tables for 6 because they have "too many requests." However, because two of our party were minors under 10, they would let us sit. To do this, we had to eat 4:45. When we arrived, they sat us in the totally empty restaurant (it was so early). But then the manager came and said we cannot sit. He said we could sit at tables across from each other but not together. The restaurant was empty. I'm in the hospitality industry and own successful restaurants. Service is so important. Never again will is I patronage this restaurant or any of the others under common ownership. I hope others in the Beverly Hills community will read this because these are not the businesses we want in our city.

Always enjoy eating here... the Services good, the food is good - ribs, Shrimp Louis salad, spinach artichoke dip all amazing (not a fan of the burger), ambiance is nice. Just remember to make a reservation.

excellent clientele service. For my man's birthday, I unintentionally made reservations a day beforehand. I entered the building confident that I had a reservation. When I opened my email, I discovered that the reservation was wrong. Wait a few minutes, the hostess said in a very polite manner. In just five minutes, she had a table cleaned and ready. Both the server and the other support staff members were courteous. The food was delicious and the new York strip was cooked to perfection. To help us relax after eating, we played a little UNO. This place is fantastic. Busy! A bit loud at lunch. That said, even with the crowd- it still felt intimate. Food was excellent. Music, incredible. I'm a fan of the Hillstone restaurants. All of them are similarly classy. I found it difficult to park, but I'm not familiar with the area. There's plenty of large parking lots around, I'm just not sure if they're open to the public. Metered street parking is only good for an hour and this place is definitely worth taking the time to enjoy an extra cocktail.

Yummy food in a very warm setting. The space is dark like old time classic restaurants. Booths and comfort. Service was great and attentive. The food was delicious. Went for lunch. Lunch salads are huge. All in all a great time

This restaurant is top notch. We had a lovely holiday lunch. I was so excited they had their famous grilled artichokes on the menu. The wedge salad is hands down the best I've ever had. And the key lime pie...shouldn't have but so glad I did. Outrageous!

I had the SBG Chicken Salad and it was phenomenal. It was delicious! I also had the Scottish Salmon with a side of broccli. The salmon was cooked perfectly!!

Been a customer of Hillstone restaurant group for the last 25 years. This review, is the general consensus of current and former customers of all Hillstone establishments. The last three years, just like any other restaurant, employee turnover has been rampant. Unfortunately, this has drastically affected and impacted the quality of service expected at all Hillstone restaurants. In particular, South Beverly Grill, who is ran by an inadequate and miserable woman, named Jana Lee (little does she know, her staff can't stand her). It is a fact, from the food to the level service, the customer experience is unpleasant. The amount of times our food has been prepared incorrectly or have had insects lying on my plate, without any remorse from management is absolutely ridiculous. I'm just about done with these people. Whether it's the owner, George Biel, or son, they are completely blind to how their restaurants have changed for the worse. It's only a matter of time, till they feel it in their pockets.

Maybe, just maybe, instead of upholding ridiculous and SEXIST rules, such as not allowing men to wear hats, but women being able to, they can reciprocate the same level of expectations to the customer!

long waiting times but easy to wait near the bar, full bar by the way. Friendly service, good food, they serve the sushi with some other sauce, not soy sauce. Fresh, tasty sushi, spicy tuna, the best if the 3 kind we ordered. Nice atmosphere, open kitchen.

If you don’t make a reservation you generally have to wait 30-45 minutes but that’s okay because you can always grab a drink and hang out with your party by the bar or outside on the chairs.
I always get the extra dirty martini and love it!!
We ordered the kale salad and chicken and the tuna roll. We also got the cabbage! All were great! The cheeseburger is also fantastic since I’ve gotten it before!

'Clubby' feel and menu. Food is generally somewhat unique, but rooted in classic menu items, and delicious. They have a bunch of Asian dishes, specifically Japanese and sushi items. Expect nothing less from a restaurant in the Hillstone group.

Loved it. The food is terrific, the service exceptional and the atmosphere is warm with tables spread far apart. The ribs were delicious as was the salmon. Wedge salad was unusual and one of the best I've ever had.

South Beverly grill is part of the hillstone restaurant group, which includes Houston's, Banderas, r&d grill and several others. I have tried several of their different concepts and all of them have been phenomenal. Definitely some of the best restaurants around. Wish they would expand down south to San Diego so we don't have to drive to Orange county or Los Angeles to dine there, which is something we have done multiple times, they're that good!

Impeccable service, delicious food, a full bar and sushi all executed extremely well. They do have a strict policy about no hats or baseball caps allowed inside the restaurant, they're trying to keep it classy and not at all a sports type venue.

Typically very busy so be prepared to wait for a table, but once seated the food and service are lightning fast, as in order, take a breath and suddenly the food arrives :-) but so delicious, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Had a big issue with someone spilling alcohol all over my moms new coat ; Jana was there to take care of the situation and rectify it ! I couldn’t have asked for a better handling of the situation; Plus it’s not the end of the world mistakes happen and life goes on … Thank you Jana for taking care of us and I would leave them 6 stars if I could

Joined my family which includes 2 small kids to celebrate my sons birthday. We were in the middle of having appetizers and the manager comes up to us and says we are sorry but you can't dine with five people at the table even thought there was plenty of room!! I told them I wasn't aware of this new policy and I don't see why we can't have our dinner together and we will know not to come here for future. His response was it is new policy and for it to be fair to others we have to seperate you guys to a different table and separated us!! I was shocked! This is the last time I will be dining at this establishment! Woke culture at its finest! What a shame! Terrible place to come with family!

Great customer service. I accidentally booked reservations a day early for my man's birthday. I walked up in there SURE that I had reservations. I opened my email to see that it was reserved incorrectly. The hostess was so polite and said wait a few minutes. She had a table cleaned and ready to go in 5 minutes. The server was polite and so were the other assisting staff. The new York strip was cooked perfectly and the food was delicious. After eating, we played a bit of UNO to sober up.. No dirty looks were given (we already paid our bill) 🤣 you know.. that happens some times. We had a great experience. Side note.. it looks like they hire people of ALL kinds and I appreciate that.

Well I want to share with you about this wonderful restaurant. The high class restaurant like this is hard to find today. So I highly recommended this. I cant find words to explain how is amazing their service. They work friendly and always help their costumers to do orders. The order does not take long time and always fresh food. They have everything for everyone such as burgers, sushi , salads, many kind of appetizers and also cocktails are amazing too!!! Everything is delicious and fresh.
Actually This restaurant shines its cleanliness. you can go here with your family and enjoy unforgettable moments.

Old school "fancy'. Hamburger was average, but shrimp cocktail and Deviled eggs were good. Like Beverly Hills itself, very nice, elegant but understated with good service (by LA standards)...nothing cutting edge, but something for everybody...sushi, vegan. Perfect place for a lawyer or the kind of person who guys shopping in Beverly Hills...affluent and definitely not edgy as far personal tastes and behavior. This is also the place for you if you are one of the many, many, many rich low life's (criminals and escorts) that visit and populate Los Angeles: from Armenian Gangsters to Gangster Diciples, the South Beverly Grill has something for everyone with a couple bucks and whose culinary horizons meet the horizon at circa 2000.
