The moment you arrive, you’ll know Lawry’s The Prime Rib is an extraordinary restaurant – a place of grand style, classic elegance, luxurious comfort and home of the world famous Lawry’s Seasoned Salt. The unique menu features our Roasted Prime Ribs of Beef served tableside from gleaming silver carts. Enjoy the warm hospitality, exceptional service and award-winning food that have made Lawry’s a dining legend since 1938.
Going to Lawry’s is like being transported back in time. The restaurant reminded me of 1930’s decor. It had a nice atmosphere. Our servers Fiona and Noel were cordial, attentive and efficient. Our party of 4 each had a different cut of prime rib and all of the beef was cooked to perfection and very tender. The mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, creamed corn were all very good. The spinning salad demonstration was fun to watch. And the master carver were interesting to watch as well. We would visit again.

It's my first time trying prime ribs and let me tell you the food will never not be amazing here. You come here for the prime rib, and the rib only. The meat is extremely tender and flavorful not to mention the smoothest buttery mash I have ever tasted. This old fashioned style rib area is the top notch quality you will ever find in la so I can guarantee you it won't go to waste. Deserts were amazing with added thick fudge and Taffy making an explosion of flavors in your mouth. Please go here for the experience I just had I would go here everyday ignoring the price. 🙏

The only think I wasn’t a fan of was the lobster bisque tasted thick and like canned soup

Went for my first time on my birthday. It was really an experience! The starting drinks were delicious and the diver scallops our table split as an app was truly phenomenal. Of course you come to Lowry's and get the spinning salad, that tasted super bright and fresh. And then the carving station, that was spectacular, getting your meat sliced in front of you just the way you like it. The taste was mouth watering-ly good. I highly recommend that you sit in Patricia's section. Very friendly and knowledgeable waitress!

One down point, our server needs to go to wine class. Poured both bottles wrong, and spilled on the table. Even with that loved it.

The hostess was very unprofessional with an overtly rude attitude. Also her hair was not combed. More importantly, she put our party of seven at the worst table in the restaurant all the way in the back in a dark area next to the storage room. When we asked about it, she stated that we should have told her… No, you should not have placed us there in the first place. When we spoke to Tracy the male manager about this, he began yelling and pointing his hands in our face…. The restaurant is old and unkept, the food was cold and nasty.
Going forward, we will only dine at Steak 48 since they have better service, delicious food and an amazing atmosphere!

Had a great meal w the Wifee today. We started w the fondue, Brussels, and crab cakes. Where’d the spinned salad next. And for our mains, she did the fillet mignon w shrooms and I had the NY steak w mashed potatoes! Highlight of the meal was our guy George who kept up our bread and drinks in the most pleasant and delightful way.

An icon of a restaurant, beautiful at Christmas time, but not the place to go if you are gluten-free. I was not offered the opportunity to eat prime rib at lunch and replace the glutenous sides with non-gluten. Waitress was rude and inflexible to my medical needs. Ruined my large family gathering and made me feel that this restaurant is not capable of delivering five star service or food.

Our server got side dish incorrectly written down, got the wrong cut, and wrong done-ness (ordered medium rare, first got well done, then got swapped to medium, and I gave up). Ultimately, things got worked out, but seemed like an off night for Lawry's and it's high standards/reputation.
From being seated to leaving was 3 hours, though, with good company we spent extra time talking and catching while waiting for things throughout the meal.

The best. Why even bother going elsewhere. The delicious prime rib comes with endless bread, a salad and yorkshire pudding so there is zero possibility you'll leave hungry. We've gone multiple times and the waiters are always so cool and personable. Most have worked there for years so you know it's great establishment to work at. And valet is only $10. You'll need that as street parking is pretty scarce.

Brought my family here on 11/15. After initially being seated, we waited quite awhile to order food. My wife and MiL split a NY strip, my son got the filet mignon and I ordered the American Akaushi Prime Rib Special. The filet and NY strip came first (before my salad) and were plated wrong, with the filet cut in half on separate plates. This wasn’t a big deal and we mentioned it because we wanted an additional plate so we could split it ourselves. However, the server took both dishes back and multiple people came to apologize and offered us a comped dessert. The issue was that they brought the same steaks out awhile later and both steaks were cold by this point.
So at this point we still hadn’t received our sides or received steak knives. My family was eating cool steaks without the sides and I still hadn’t received my main course. The steaks ended up becoming cold by the time we received our steak knives and sides. Everyone else was almost finished eating by the time my entree was served.
As for the service, our primary server never came back to our table after we mentioned the order was split incorrectly. She walked by multiple times and but would not stop by the table, which was an issue because I was watching out for her to try and flag her down for our steak knives. It took awhile for us to order and receive our dessert, then another wait for our final bill.
The mixup on the split plate was not a big issue at all, but how it was handled really ruined the entire night. Having our server not check in and seemingly actively avoid us made us uncomfortable. It was a fairly expensive meal and not up to par with our experiences at higher-end steakhouses that we go to. The overall experience was terrible and feels like I wasted a lot of money and time.

After the Chicago location closed during COVID, we knew we had to make a trek to another Lawry's location to get the ultimate prime rib meal fix we'd been missing. The Beverly Hills location did not disappoint and the new steak tartare option was great (although we took it off the tater tots/hash browns and ate it on sourdough with generous spoonfuls of spicy horseradish).
The two waitresses we had were amazing. If there was a fault, the slicing of the prime rib was a bit more jagged / less evenly cut than I've experienced in the past but the meat was great and cooked to perfection (medium rare).

We were quite excited to try this place, unfortunately with every new dish brought to the table came the next disappointment. The steak tartare was way too vinegary. The cheese fondue is not a fondue, it's not much cheese either. It's more like a very dense French onion soup. Finally the salmon was so oily that I had to move it to a different plate to be able to eat it. I couldn't save the spinach sadly, so much oil in them that it made it impossible to eat.
Finally the service was average at best, long waiting time, waiter nowhere to be found when we needed something.

This has been on my list for a while, finally had a chance to visit. Very impressed with the entire experience. I feel this was in the top 3 best value meals I have ever had. The quality of the food and service provided were significantly higher than the price of the meal. We were treated like VIP’s and were impressed constantly as the meal kept going. Our waitress had been their 30 years and was more of a friend than a traditional waitress. She joked, encouraged what to eat, and delivered. We had the shrimp cocktail, oysters, fries, creamed corn, prime rib meal, and a hot fudge sundae. Love the horseradish, margaritas were good.
I learned Lowrys seasoning owns the restaurant, they invented the doggy bag, was the first all women’s restaurant in LA, first restaurant to serve salad before the meal, bought the local hot fudge recipe in the 80’s that they still use today and they invented valet parking. The carts are great, would love to go back!

Made reservations... fine. Arrived 10 minutes late... not an issue. Host seated party of 3 in the path of cyclone Joel. Waiter could not stop more than 15 second to ask for our beverage order as he was rushing off to another table. The far left section has less than 20 tables, Joel was dashing haphazardly between the various parties definitely without any order or system. When his assistant Fiona would stop at a table to answer questions or take a request, Joel would come right up to her and interrupt

Lawry’s is one of the top 5 prime rib restaurants in the U.S. They offer a glamorous setting with an excellent staff. They offer so much more than prime rib so don’t think they have just prime rib. We went in and got the largest cut prime rib available. It was doable. There is a video attached to this review of the cut size. They have great mashed potatoes and cream corn. Do go for the optional purchasable corn. The prime rib is cut in a cart by your table. Desert, the banana cream pie is great. If you don’t like coconut, then skip this desert. It was not what I was expecting nor the crust so I didn’t like it. And I love banana cream pie. Overall, excellent. Do go to Lawry’s. It’s worth the food and experience.

Went here for a date night and we had the greatest time here. From parking (valet), to front desk, to the whole decor, intro and service from our waiters, to food, I have noooothing to complain (well, maybe the 20min wait despite ressie).
Once you stepped in the main dining room, it felt as if you’re brought back time to 80s or 90s when dining out at a steak house is a huge treat. The atmosphere is just legit; I feel like it’s worth dressing up and have a proper date night kind of vibe~
We had the prime rib meal and some sides. Portion was very generous and the cook of the meat is exactly what you asked for. The one we ordered also came with table side service which was awesome, and our waiter also shared with us Lawry’s history and all the fun fact of this place.
We’ll be back if we are in the area again :)

The table I was set at was only a little over 2 feet from the table behind me. When a group was seated there I was smacked in the back of the head several times as they sat down. I purchased the "Lawrys cut" med. rare. It was very tough and there was only one peice of fat on the whole piece. No marbling. I dont believe it was at all a prime cut. Looked like a standard select cut. The carver shouldnt have even served it. It was served with a salad and mashed potatoes. The sides were ok. Nothing i couldnt get at any other resturant. My wifes meal and mine were 100.00 and I we agreed, we will be buying our prime rib elsewhere from now on. I only gave a second star because it had a nice atmosphere.

This review isn't about the food, which was excellent as always. We're regulars here. However, the way the manager treated us was unbelievable. When we sat down, our 2 yr old daughter picked up a wine glass and it snapped in her hand. She didn’t drop it or hit it against anything. I requested a Band-Aid, Manager came by and asked if she was ok. it was all nice at first but we didn't get a good look at her cut because she wouldn't allow us to fully see it. Honestly, we didn’t I don’t think it was that bad, but she continued to cry throughout dinner and didn’t eat her food. By the end of the meal, we were able to see that she had pretty deep slice between her thumb and index finger. She thumbsucker so now we understand why she was crying so bad as she’s is not able to suck her thumb. When I spoke to the manager again about how this could happen just by picking up the glass, pretty much all he said was, “well It wasn’t broken when she picked it up.” He took my name and number and rolled his eyes as he walked away. We have never experienced such poor treatment from a manager, especially at a high-class restaurant.
Just left a bad taste in our mouth. Our daughter is still continuing to cry since we’ve been home.

I don’t know what is in that spinning salad, but it is perfection. Tossed in a chilled, spinning bowl, one would think the presentation is too gimmicky for the dish to actually be good. But this salad satisfies!! The Yorkshire pudding is even better than the salad!! It is actually a hollow bread with soft gooey inside walls and a flakey, crispy outside texture. I would go to Lawry’s just to have the salad and the Yorkshire pudding!! But luckily, we have the added bonus of excellent prime rib and bearnaise as well. They also give you fresh grated horseradish to garnish your prime rib. So good!
This restaurant is where I had my first dinner date with my boyfriend and it’s special to us. But, it’s also the kind of restaurant I introduced my pickie family members to, and they absolutely loved it! Now we go to Lawry’s to celebrate as a family.
Admittedly, the old timey decor and atmosphere are not my taste - but the environment lends to its charm and so I wouldn’t change a thing about this place.
Servers here are usually polite, kind, enthusiastic and fun. We love Lawry’s and hope it never changes.

As someone who goes to Lawry's at least 2-3 times per year for the past 40 or so years, usually for special occasions, I've never had such an awful experience as I did last night. Our waitress was lovely and helpful, but she and a colleague were sharing duties for a large section of the restaurant and seemed extremely over stretched.
My prime rib was overcooked (all the others in our party got the temperature they wanted), it was also a much smaller portion than all others (we all ordered the same Lawry’s Cut). A salad was done incorrectly and we sent it back, when the main course came I said I'd just prefer not to have the salad. It came anyway and I was offered to take it ‘to go’, not ideal as dressed salad is usually pretty disgusting the next day, but oh well.
When we wanted to go, we had to ask for the check four times, when the check came the salad was on it and I asked for it to be removed. The manager, came to the table and said if I wanted it removed from the check he’d have to retrieve the salad from our to go box! We happily returned it, but I did let him know that that was the most insane thing I had ever heard. Also it just came off as being nasty and spiteful, I certainly hope they weren’t going to try to serve the salad to another guest (though after this I wouldn’t be surprised). All this cast a dark cloud over a birthday being celebrated.

The food and table service at Lawry’s was amazing. Delicious dishes and amazing servers who were extremely attentive and kind. The reason for my 3 star rating is because my whole experience was ruined by the valet parking attendant. After my car came I got into the driver’s seat and since I am a small person, my seat was understandably moved to fit the parking attendant’s height. That’s no problem, I just need a few minutes to adjust my seat and all my mirrors that were also moved. As my family of 6 was getting into the car and as I was adjusting my seat and mirrors, a different parking attendant had pulled up a car behind me for another family. Not even a minute later, they flashed their lights at me. My family was still getting into their seats and putting on their seatbelts. I was still adjusting my seat, as I couldn’t even reach the pedal from where they left my seat. Then, they had the audacity not even ONE MINUTE later to honk at me, then motion me with their hands to move. I couldn’t believe it. The impatience displayed by the parking attendant is outrageous. This all happened less than 5 minutes after I was given my car. I had to roll my window down to tell them to hold on. The parking attendant got out of the car to give the keys to the other family. The other family behind me got into their car. So…what was the rush? The parking attendant didn’t need to pull the car forward to give the keys over to the family since there was ample space for both of us where we were for everyone to get in their cars. I really don’t know what the issue was but the parking attendant ruined my night and the night of my family’s. Everyone felt rushed and were upset at the lights flashing, beeping and hand gestures. Its as if he expected me to drive off as soon as all the doors closed, while I was sitting over a feet away from my pedals. An amazing dinner to celebrate a birthday, ruined by an impatient parking attendant who simply had no reason to be rushing me in the first place. I expect something to be done about this so no one else experiences this and feels rushed to drive in unsafe conditions out of the Lawry’s valet parking lot.

For being in business so long the experience was very disappointing. The place is very nicely decorated inside, think classic restaurant. Hostess seated us promptly. The server took our drink order, diet coke and a beer, then disappeared for 15 minutes. It was early evening and not busy inside. Finally she returned took our appetizer order and was focusing her attention on the larger parties near us. 30 minutes later our shrimp cocktail arrived, she took our order. I got the lawrys cut prime rib,it comes with mashed potatoes and gravy. And spinning salad. The croutons tasted like old fryer oil,and the salad was not impressive.the prime rib was flavorless, mashed potatoes so bland. That meal also comes with yorkshire pudding but it tasted like cardboard. My partner ordered filet minon and it was cooked perfectly, with a side of Mac n cheese that was so unbearably salty. So I went here based on reputation and reviews mostly positive, but I won't ever return.

All the food here was great, but the one that really stuck out was the creamed spinach. I know I should be taking about the prime rib dinner or the lobster, but that side dish really got to me. Even after a night in the fridge without reheating, the flavor just hit deeply. I can’t really describe it, but everyone should go and try it out. Everyone should experience Lawry’s once.

Um lugar histórico, tradicional.
Francamente, achamos a comida lamentável.

Lawry's Prime Rib is a classic Los Angeles steakhouse that delivers a memorable dining experience, and I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday here tonight.
The star of the show is, of course, the prime rib – carved tableside and cooked to perfection. But don't miss out on the decadent mashed potatoes, the addictive Yorkshire pudding, and the delicious croutons!
The service is top-notch, and my servers Dea and Jorge were some of the best I've ever encountered – funny, friendly, and always attentive. Overall, Lawry's is a great choice for a special occasion or a night out to enjoy some iconic LA fare.

Went for dinela but ended up ordering a la carte. We did the math and dinela only saved $7 so we decided to try different things on the menu. They have this New York prime steak with a garlic confit and it was so flavorful. The steak took forever to come out - we waited probably 25 minutes for it. Our waitress was super sweet but she literally said your food will be right out three times before it came out so much later. At least it was good. I recommend their lump crab and avocado salad as well as their side of mushrooms.
Valet as of July 2024 was $11.

We've been going to Lawrys Prime Rib for many years and this is the first time we've written a review. We were waiting an unusually long time for any food, maybe because it was particularly busy for Dine LA., when a worker (I don't know if he was a waiter or assistant waiter?) by the name of George, who we happened to meet earlier but was not our waiter, walked by and apparently he just sensed that we were not happy so he stopped and inquired so we told him in addition to the long wait we already asked 2 people for warm bread and we've been waited over 20 mins but it never came. He said he would take care of it and bought us delicious hot bread within 2 mins. In addition to that, George was extremely friendly, personable, polite and helpful and deserves to be recognized.
By the way, one of us ordered the Dine LA special and the other the Lawrys cut. The special came with a California cut, which was very average; the Lawry's cut was substantially larger and better

To be honest I felt like an intruder at this place.
We had a reservation for 20:30, waited for 30 minutes. When we sat down almost the whole part of the saloon we were seated was empty.
That negative initial experience continued during dinner. Our waiter came back just once never to be seen again. The food was average at best , very dry NY steak and so-so lobster. I was shocked by the crispy onions side - a "greasy leftovers" would be more appropriate, how can this thing be called a side dish and served in a fancy restaurant.
Sauce for the steak never came. Cocktails were not really good and overall we just felt the need to get out of there.

I recently visited Lawry's The Prime Rib and had an extremely disappointing experience. I had made a reservation for 7:30 PM, but upon arrival, I was informed that my reservation was mistakenly scheduled for 10:30 PM. I had canceled all my plans to dine at this restaurant, only to be met with no apology or remorse from the staff. Instead, I was told the earliest I could dine was at 10 PM. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the restaurant. I am extremely dissatisfied and upset with how this situation was handled.

Parking is offered through valet service. There is also limited street parking. Staff is friendly and the restaurant vibe is upscale. Their prime rib is really good. Their sides are mediocre. I did enjoy their mac n cheese. Their rib eye and filet mignon are average and small in size. The lobsters are small and resemble jumbo shrimp... so wouldn't recommend it. Their bread gets a high mark.

Lawry's is a special restaurant for me so whenever I come back to town I make sure it is a spot I definitely visit.
Their Lawry's cut prime rib is always on point and you just gotta love a side of mushrooms and cream corn. Our server is extremely respectful and he always comes back with our drink before they were empty.
The atmosphere is always very classy with lights not too bright. I was though saddened that the spinning salad was technically not done correctly. They are suppose to hold the dressing up high on the drop, well in our case it was a tad bit lower. I know I know, I'm being critical for such a minute detail but you know, for a five star restaurant and an experience you are paying...not hitting that really sucks.
Nonetheless, I will still go back in the future and hopefully, they'll assign us with their stable waitress, the lady in the brown dress instead of a gentleman. :D

I was going to Lawrys in the 60's. It was my grandfather's favorite. They have maintained their quality food, service and atmosphere for many decades.

Our server was great. It's a good-looking room. The food here is horrendous. Lukewarm, gelatinous cut of prime rib cut table side. A baked Alaska that had barely defrosted and tasted like pure lighter fluid. The fondue app and the fantastic margarita saved this from being a one-star review. The food is Applebee's quality at Smith & Wollensky prices.
