Had minimal expectations but still managed to get dissapointed.

I was honestly not expecting much from California bbq… but when you pay $100+ for brisket, smoked wings, ribs, and chicken tenders, you can’t help but think the quality must be decent.

I had no expectations and they still managed to disappoint me. I ordered take out. Got back to my hotel, come to find out that they were missing my ribs. Drove back and they blamed it on DoorDash. While I waiting, my wife sends me a text message with a pic saying my son’s wings were undercooked. Staff told me that we smoke them and most people are not used to smoked wings and they tend to come out pink. Well, mine were bleeding. And no, we are from Vegas and Texas so we know how our meat is supposed to be done. We ended up microwaving them because I didnt want to wait anymore.

I finally return home and got to eating my brisket. This was the driest brisket I’ve ever had. Complete waste of our money.

The service and food were excellent! My husband loved the homemade chicharrones and homemade sauce! We got the the three meat combo... brisket, pulled pork, and ½ rack of ribs with beans and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese didn't look that good on some reviews, but I'm so glad we decided to try it! The noodles weren't mushy, it's made with white cedar I think, and it's so good! The only complaint was that they were not open when it says they're open online. We drove down there, and they were closed. The next day it showed they were opened, so we called, but twice no answer. We finally drove by for something else, and saw they were finally open.

JEEPERS! JASPERS HAS THE BEST PORK RINDS!
A friend and I stopped into Jaspers for quick snack. We tried the pork rinds (Keto friendly). The Rinds were seasoned with chili and lime. I give them a five star!

The service was very slow. This was not the server's fault, he was running around waiting on all the tables himself. I believe the manager is responsible for the slow service, he should have at least had host scheduled to help.
Atmosphere was okay. They had the football game on, that was a plus. Nothing memorable.
Strongly suggest the Pork Rinds!

I don’t eat meat, there was two position for vegetarians/vegans : burger and salad. I’ve decided to try burger. The patty was made from some veggies and beans, I don’t really like that option, beyond meat is way better. but it was just fine. The side of onion rings cost $2 (the waiter never mention that it would be more) but onion rings were great! My husband got a loaded fries and he loved it!
Maybe not the best place for people who don’t eat meat, but it’s definitely good for meat lovers

Our server Jenna was very helpful, the service was very fast. Brisket was so delicious we also liked chicken and coleslaw. Great dinner experience highly recommended!

I went with a friend on July 4th to Jasper's BBQ. I ordered a Smash Burger with Light Sauce and Well Done on the Meat Patty. I cut it in half and enjoyed the flavors of all the ingredients that were fresh, plus the pretzel bun. I also requested cornbread to go so I can have it later at home. I will most likely come back and try another item on the menu. The place got full quickly as it opened and we were lucky to get a table before more big family came. So I recommend you go early when it opens. They also have outside seating.

I got horrible food poisoning here, and ended up in the hospital for a day. When I called to tell them, mostly so they wouldn't serve the same food I ate to other customers, I was not offered a refund or anything

Gave my friend food poisoning so bad that she had to go to the emergency room at 1am. She had the brisket bowl. I had the nashville sandwich and did not get sick. Service was slow.

We were there between xmas and new years 2024. Party of 9 including 3 kids under 12.

Food: ordered some ST. louis Ribs, bisket, fried chix sandwich, wings. Honestly, everything was meh. The brisket was definitely too dry, ribs too, the fried chicken was ok, the wings I didn't try.

Service: it was fine, not the mostly friendly but got the job done.

Atmosphere: we sat outside, which was nice, since it was sunny and had some heat lamps. I think inside is a little too cramped.

Given the option, I wouldn't return for the food.

I had a disappointing experience. After being seated and handed menus, my party waited over 20 minutes without a single staff member checking in on us. No one took our order, offered water, or even acknowledged us again. Instead, staff seemed to just stare at us while completely ignoring our table. The lack of basic customer service was unacceptable, and we ended up leaving.

The food was ok but the service was lacking. First, received wrong side order, then was charged extra for the side. Server never checked on us, had to wait to ask for water. Then was given the wrong bill that was much higher than the correct bill. Went back the next day to have the bill mistake rectified only to be given an attitude by the same server. While he ended up paying us the difference he was rude and acted as he was doing us a favor. Unfortunately the food is not worth the trouble of having to deal with the service. Our Big Bear holiday getaway was ruined by this dining experience.

It should go without saying, but if you don't already know-- BBQ made by someone named Jasper is just going to slap. It's a fact. I don't make the rules, I'm just telling you how it is. The decor was a total vibe and the staff was knowledgeable and fun. Get you some ribs, bro. You won't regret it ☮️.

We wanted some brisket, so we chose this place. Not sure why the 4.1 rating….this place is fantastic! We were seated immediately on a busy Saturday night. Because it was unseasonably warm for the end of October, we sat outside. Service was great, but the brisket was out-of-this world…OMG!!! We travel far and wide for good brisket- this is perhaps the best on the planet. Huge portions left us with plenty for breakfast.

Last night my family ate here if I could put a negative star on service I would. They took 20 min to take our order not only us but another table as well. No they weren't busy they were all standing in the back talking and laughing. They finally came took our order messed up the drink order. About 20 more min they brought us our food. The ribs and wings were kind of burnt didn't have flavor the frys were cold. The food needed salt I waved for a server they saw me wave but ignored me. So I had to get up and go ask for it. Again same thing to add toast. We were never offered refills on our drinks. I do not recommend this place

We got the onion ring app, it was very good and you could taste the cornbread coating. I got the pulled pork sandwich, it seemed oily and not very flavorful. Sweet potato fries were very good. It was a Friday night in July, so they were busy. The server did the best he could, there just wasn’t enough of them.

We were able to walk in on the 4th of July. I was very happy with my food (pulled pork, ribs, beans, slaw), others had mixed reviews but overall the food was solid and we would eat here again.

One of the better burgers I had and fully customizable if you want to leave or add ingredients. Went for the pretzel burger without tomato and on a brioche bun, no problem at all. My mom had the brisket burger which was very tasty. Also their sweet potato fried taste homemade. Relatively affordable place in Big Bear which is an expensive area.

I used to love this place. New owners, and the menu has changed some. The food did not taste good anymore, but at least they raised the prices as well. No need for me to go back again. It was still busy though, so some people must like it.

The brisket was dry and not flavorful. Definitely not worth $27! The coleslaw was also dry. The onion rings were good. The BBQ was fine - nothing special.

We decided to give this place a chance, on a cold night.
Good location in a busy street, but food is would just give it 3.5 stars meats are on the dryer and saltier side. We need more dedication on the seasoning quality..
Service is 3.5 stars because since we sat down, there are 3 more seated after us but Server took their orders first and didn’t come to us, i had to wave them down, and the wait wasn’t short we were hungry..
Other than mentioned, it’s an ok place.

HORRIBLE! We waited for 10 minutes at the door and nobody acknowledged us but they just stared at us! We had to go up to the girl in green shirt and asked her how do we get seated and she just pointed at a table and told us “there”. Then she literally slammed the menus down on the table which was very rude! EVEN HER COWORKER GAVE A SURPRISED LOOK THAT HE COULDNT BELIEVE SHE DID THAT! We left and wow we wanted to try it but horrible!

Great food, got the 3 meat combo brisket/ hot links/ ribs. Brisket was a 10/10, hot links 10/10, ribs 9/10, mac n cheese is fire so 10/10, corn bread 9/10. Small place with out door seating available, you may have a long wait to be seated time depending on when you arrive but definitely recommend for anyone who enjoys good BBQ food! Will be back again, special thanks to our waiter Omar amazing service and personality.

Great quality food, busy over the weekends and you must be ready for a long wait time for large groups of 4 or more ppl. Combo's are huge, you can definately feed 2 ppl with either one of the 2 or 3 meet combo. Waiters are very friendly. I would really recommend management opening a second location with higher capacity to srrve larger groups whule keeping the original place. Special thanks to our sever.

Food was amazing, super tasty. Waitress with the lip filler is the rudest server I've ever had. Treated us poorly from the get-go, she had a terrible attitude. My friend ordered pulled pork mac and cheese, she had no idea what it was until we pointed to the menu, then she said "oh, that's because you said it wrong". She just wanted to hear Mac and cheese *with* pork. This is the first time I've ever not left a tip. Food was great, sever was awful, will not go back if she's there.

Purchased full rack 49$ horrible burned to bone black couldnt eat it at all!!!!!!!! Askef to return or replace they said no. Loaded fries with brisket wad amazing!!!!! 20$. The brisket 28$ was great. French fries east them there bc 1 hr later horrible. Zucchini was great. Garlic fries didn't task like garlic at all lol but the Mac and cheese was horrible they changed the flavor 1 month ago tasted like bear or fermented or old. I posted pics. 3/5 just bc if the brisket which could be juicier..pics loaded up as well

My wife and I went to Jasper's on a Tuesday mid-day. No crowd and it was peaceful. The service was excellent. (He only had two tables so all our questions were answered with no rush.) We had alot of questions being it was our first time at Jasper's. So we sampled alot of items the onion rings 10/10 good flavor and awesome crunch. The Meats all had that smokey flavor and ring you look for in good BBQ. the brisket had just the right pull to it and was firm (not mushy). The ribs when you took a bite and your teeth cut into the meat left a nice impression on the rib. It didn't all slide off in a slab of meat hanging off your face. The chicken wings nice smoke and juicy. We went with buffalo sauce. but there are many options. Mac and cheese was creamy and full of flavor. Hot links had smoke but no heat. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND JASPER'S BBQ for your BBQ fix.

I liked this place. We sat outside and enjoyed the outdoor scenery. I would say that the average price per person would be $15 - 30. I ordered the Brisket Burger with a side of Garlic Parmesan Fries.

My sons ordered a Spicy Mac n Cheese Burger (a must try) and the National Chicken Sandwich.

The food is ok. Being from the south, it was a little disappointing not to taste the smoke flavor... maybe the sweetness of the applewood overpowered the hickory? But the Mac and Cheese was a 10, 10, 10, 10 from all of us at the table. Delicious!!! The pickle chips were almost too dilly flavored but a great breading and fry. The baked beans were good and seemed to have a bourbon flavor to them. The corn bread... meh. Just ok...tasted like it was a box mix. The "southern sweet tea" was Gold Peak... so disappointing. It would be cheaper for the restaurant to brew their own tea. But the wait staff were awesome and so friendly. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing. We enjoyed it.

We've been craving barbecue for a while and found thus delicious gem while visiting Big Bear over the weekend.

We started off with a couple of beers and their perfect chicharrones. Then, we followed with the pulled pork and brisket meal. We couldn't decide on just two sides so we went with the mac and cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread. We ordered with our eyes and had plenty of leftovers for later! Everything we tried there was so good!

Everyone who approached our table was so nice. 5 stars on service and food all the way! Cannot wait to visit Big Bear again to eat at Jasper's!

Came in today September 29th at 4pm. Asked the young man about $200 gift certificate. No clue. Went and asked someone and came back said sorry we don't have any. Called at 5pm and a lady answered and she stated" no certificates" . I asked for a Manager please, No manager I can talk to she stated it is NOT the season. Loss of $200 in a matter seconds!! This place is outstanding! I kinda stumbled on it accidentally and decided to eat there. It has a really nice outdoor deck area as well as indoor seating. I had Ribs, Pulled Pork, Fixins, and an ice cold Bud Light. Delicious all the way around. Friendly service and the price point is doable. Check 'em out!

The food was delicious. The service was terrible. At on point I asked a young man for a fork. He just nodded. He came back holding the fork out to me. I wasn't looking. My wife told me he was there not even stopping or saying anything and rolling his eyes like I was annoying him. Pretty shocking for someone who works for tips . Don't know if I'll go there again. And I'm up there often. Very dissapointed to say the least.

Regular BBQ place here in big bear. Like someone else mentioned here, there's no smell of smoke, and I'm not sure if it's done a certain way to limit the smoke smell or whatnot, but the meat does not taste smoked either.

This was such a cute little place ! My family and I went camping and after we checked out of our site, we wanted to all father and have lunch before we went our separate ways. This was was so accommodating to our large group and our server was so friendly. The food was delicious and the 2/3 meat combo plate was HUGE. I would definitely recommend coming here!

Good Little place, the outdoor dining was perfect setting for a summer day. The employees were very friendly and welcoming. Specially the dude hosting “Suavecito” The guy taking the drinks was either nervous, or just didn’t have any customer service experience.

Food: the bear battered fry’s were ok, not good or great.
The brisket was a good amount of food but, very dry and lacked flavor.
Garlic fries were awesome so were the onion rings. Mac and cheese was also not great.

Highlight of the visit was Suavecitos upbeat and welcoming attitude.

He keeper the drinks topped of and was speedy with the his assistance.

Cost: Didn’t not match the food quality. But was not to bad. I would come again to try other items.

Best BBQ in Big Bear Lk Ca. Great brisket !! not to mention the Mac N Cheese !! And make sure you get some funnel cake fries with some raspberry sauce....oh yea best sweet tea this side of the rockies !!!

Tried for the first time today with family. Had the chicharrones appetizer, and let me tell you that being hispanic made me skeptical to order these from a BBQ cuisine restaurant, but they were light, crispy and delicious. We also had a side of cornbread, which was deliciously moist, unlike most cornbread I've tried elsewhere. Also ordered a pull pork sandwich, a brisket sandwich, and the Memphis melt. All great, but the Memphis melt takes the price!

Maybe they just had an off day but our experience didn't match their reviews. The food was overdone and dry. The ribs had so much char on one side they were almost inedible. We did the 3 meat meal with a full rack of ribs. The brisket was way over cooked. The pulled pork was the best tasting meat we got. Service staff was rarely visible even though there were only 2 tables sat. For the price we won't be back.

Brisket sandwich is amazing and the slaw tasted fresh as well as the pickles! The sweet potato fries and Parmesan fries are delicious 😋
Omar was our server and was wonderful!
He took our order right away and we had our food in under 10 minutes!

Will not ne back. Our server was too busy on his phone. When we were ready for our check he made a face at my wife as if it was an incovience. Worst service I've had here in Big Bear.

Decent BBQ, but nothing we'd rush back to.
No smoking smell, which we always want walking in. Brisket was chopped into chunks instead of sliced, and so the fat was sometimes overtaking the taste of the meat. We're told the pulled pork was good, but not enough sauce was given. I'm sure if we had been told our companions needed sauce, we would have been able to get more.
Sides were so-so, especially for the prices you pay up here. We had been given recommendations for the onion rings, but they were just standard so not sure what the fuss was about.
Service was friendly, music was not too loud, and bathrooms were spacious and clean.

The server was very nice ans attentive very prompt.... but the bbq was not bbq the ribs were old and boiled cornbread 100 % tasted like nothing i hate to leave this review but I had such high hopes .... too bad because this place has very high potential.... may I did just go on a bad day

A great location with huge portions. The full rack of ribs was killer! The BBQ sauce was delicious and the Mac and cheese was very thick. Also ordered were the pulled pork fries, wow. That's a meal in itself, so be warned. The smash burger was delicious. They only serve beer and wine here, on top of soft drinks. The parking is tough as it's a popular spot for locals and tourists. We parked a block and a half away. The service was very modern hipster. Big beards, baggy chick pants, careless eyes and kinda bad service. I'm not nit picking, but there could be more smiles and better focus by the staff. Overall, a great time with great food. The staff has been better, according to my girlfriend who has been here before.

Very accommodating for our party of 16. We were seated outside with 3 nearby tables. Our server made sure we were all happy and situated with everything we needed.

With one person in our party with gluten allergies, they were able to accommodate their diet. Sauces can be put on the side, buns were taken out, and bbq sauce was gluten free.

Since a lot of the neighboring restuarants in the village didn't have plenty of gluten free options, we were so glad to have stumbled upon this place.

Our server also made sure our drinks were refilled, our food was to our standards and was very attentive.

The inside seats smaller parties but we were lucky that it was a rather warm day to sit outside and have everyone in the same general area together. Warmers were also turned on and provided if you wanted to enjoy a meal outside on cooler days.

In order to add my review, I needed to add 1 star, otherwise it'd be a 0. This place is shady. We were waiting for more than an hour in the cold with 3 kids. We went inside numerous times to check in to see if the table was ready. The hostess kept saying, "Come back and check in." We saw a large party leave right after another family of five arrived. The hostess then proceeded to give them our table. At this point we'll never consider spending a penny here. It says it's under new management, which is usually a bad sign to begin with. They offered to sit us at the bar with 3 kids, but only after the slap in the face of giving away the table we waited 1.5 hours for. Never again, and to the new management it looks like you have the same problems.

We came on a busy weekend and got in relatively fast. We had a group of seven and tried lots of different things- loaded fries, garlic fries, brisket, pulled pork, chicken wings, onion rings. Everything was delicious and the service was good!!! They had craft beer and domestic also. This was easily five stars. I can't understand why it only had 4 stars. It deserved better!

Went there Saturday night. They were packed, yet the friendly staff took my to go order, got me a glass of wine and a seat at the bar. I was surrounded by friendly, happy folks, enjoying the comfortable atmosphere. Though I understandably had to wait for my meal, it was well worth it. The ribs were thick, juicy, and taste amazing. Their cole slaw is so fresh, creamy, and slightly sweet. And I found out why their Mac and cheese is a favorite.
Overall, my meal was great, and the service was outstanding! Highly recommended.

Went here because the pictures look delicious. Well to my families disappointment, those are old pics and the place is under new management we were informed after we ordered. Food came out cold. The mac n cheese was this weird soupy dish with like 5 elbows in it, texas toast is no longer a big peice of cheese bread, its just sandwhich bread with butter toasted on it, slaw was a little blan, and they no longer serve baked potatoes. The ribs were good (as they should be for $40 a rack), and frys were good as well. The service was okay. It took a long time to take our order and forgot things we asked for, but was friendly. For the bill being close to $200 I dont think we will be returning.

After we finished eating my boyfriend turned to me and said “that was the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten in my life.”

This place is a must go to if you find yourself in the mountains at big bear.

Nice , small, loud and busy place. Really nice menu will several burgers and bbq. Presentation might not be the sexiest, but it taste good. The brisket is really good so I can decently recommend that. As sides I choose (comes with two sides) Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I would recommend the last one. Great mashed potatoes. Mac and cheese was way to creamy and had an almost liquid form.
If I come here again I'll try the loaded fries and a burger, it looks like it's a very popular choice for many customers this evening.

The restaurant is a small, cozy place. Our waitress was friendly but our waters went empty and she forgot some of the items we ordered. We ordered the garden salad with added "smoked chicken," but the chicken wasn't smoked, we were told we must have gotten a "batch of bad chicken." It actually tasted like Costco rotisserie chicken. Some of our burgers and sandwhiches arrived with burnt buns we had to ask to change out. Once all was sorted, the food was average at best.
