5/5 Stars - Amazing Ice Cream and Hot Chocolate!

An Ran Ju Gelato & Teahouse is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the worker—who I believe was the owner—made us feel so welcomed and cared for. He was incredibly kind, allowing my partner and me to sample their unique and delicious ice cream flavors.

The service went above and beyond when he gave my son a sweet treat that made his day! It’s clear this place takes pride in creating a memorable experience for their customers. The ice cream here is truly the best in the area—forget the usual spots like Dreyer’s or Ben & Jerry’s. If you want something special, you have to try this place!

To top it off, they serve the best hot chocolate we’ve ever had. It was rich, flavorful, and made with such care. After walking around in the cold, it was the perfect treat to warm us up.

This teahouse is a must-visit, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for amazing desserts and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere!

Went here right before Halloween and got to sample some teas and a big helping of lemon meringue gelato. George made our visit fun and memorable! We returned the following evening for his hot chocolate special and it's the best hot coco I've had. It starts with a generous scoop of apple bourbon gelato and it just gets better from there.

Make sure to stop by and get anything here. You'll leave with a smile, I promise!

Probably the best ice cream shop at Big Bear Lake. The guy who served me ice cream (probably the owner) is extremely friendly and has a great attitude. He makes everyone’s day better. But thats not why Im leaving this good review. The flavors they have a nitpicked and almost all of them are a must try. Especially the chocolate hazelnut, rockyroad and other exotic flavours as well. So sweet of him!! He gave us some of the extra brewed tea in other cups too. Best service ever!! I've never had service this good. There was also a photo of Iroh from Avatar in the front window, so cute! I recommend this place to everyone visiting, passing through, or living in Big Bear!

Incredible tea, and insanely good gelato! My partner and I visited this shop twice during our very short stay, and the tea was absolutely incredible. We tried their Thai Tea with boba, and a few different hot teas, and all of them were exceptional.

If it's snowing outside, then this is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys tea. If it's hot out, then be sure to stop by for the gelato. I don't really typically enjoy Gelato, but they had some really inspired and amazing flavors (we taste tested a few while we waited for our teas). Honestly, get some of this even if it's not hot out!

The people who work here are extremely friendly as well. All in all it's just a really great experience to drop by. It's worth noting that this is the only place in Big Bear we stopped by *twice* at during our visit.

All of us got gelato samples as we waited for our drinks, and every flavor was amazing, but the vanilla bourbon apple was absolutely incredible! There are so many tea varieties, in addition to other types of drinks as well, and we both enjoyed our selections! The Uncle Iroh art in the window was also super on-theme and appreciated, haha!

This unassuming shop has such good Gelato! My favorite was the honey lavender which wasn't too milky or perfumey!
My family's favorite was pistachio (very rich with actual pieces of pistachio) and coconut macadamia (also rich with big pieces of macadamia). But I think what made this shop so special was the guy scooping the ice cream! He was super nice and friendly! Really took his time to make sure we got full scoops and even added in a couple additional sample bites for us to try with our ice cream! He even tried to guess what flavors we'd like and he was actually right a lot of the time! But I think what was super sweet was one of our family members was too shy to ask for a sample of the tiramisu and he overheard us talking and scooped a sample to share with her and also gave her a sample of the espresso! She ended up loving the espresso the most!
I'll definitely return in the future and would recommend this shop to others!

A lot of tea option but they taste stale and old. Good gelato options but it’s not inviting as the fridge light is off. The place is a little old and doesn’t give off a welcoming vibe. I haven't been to this shop in three years, but I needed to post this.

In Short: I would rate 2 Stars for "Good Gelato and tea but the staff either weird me out, annoy me, are difficult to talk with to the point that I would rather just go elsewhere. Not necessarily rude, but irritating or at the very least, strange.

I remember the first time I stepped in here I asked something to the effect of "Do you have boba/bubble tea" to which the response was "No, but we do have tea with boba." Apparently, my uncultured half-Asian self can't tell the difference, perhaps the motorcycle garb I was wearing made me look like some kind of uncultured rube.

Eventually, I was able to get my requested Passion Fruit "tea with boba", that tasted good. Though seriously, I was in Asia (Taiwan, specifically) scarcely two weeks prior to this visit where the bubble tea shops there that do advertise in English all say "Bubble Tea". And now that I live in Europe, I chuckle every time and remember the time that the "Tea with Boba" lady here told me that they do not have "bubble tea." So there's an extra star for having a fun story to tell to the Taiwanese portion of my family, Asian friends, and all-around enjoyers of Bubble Tea/Boba with tea.

This other time, I ordered gelato (I don't remember the flavor). Tasted good, but the gentleman serving it seemed awfully reluctant to do so for whatever reason. He seemed really friendly to the other patrons, but not me. Perhaps it was the chaps I was wearing, I will never know!

Ok for starters i’m literally in love with this place and never have I ever ran to write a good review as fast as I’ve done now. The person taking orders at the cashier was super sweet for starters and complimented my shirt. Not only are the staff there amazing but their drinks have absolutely blown me away. I ordered the taro milk tea with boba and I couldn’t be more happy with my purchase. The drink itself is just the right amount of sweet and filling. The boba was more that I would’ve expected; fresh, sweet, and just the right texture. The taste almost brings a feeling of nostalgia. For such an amazing drink and quantity I would’ve never thought to pay as much as I did(it wasn’t expensive). If you’re looking for a place to grab a drink and happen to be near Big Bear Village this is definitely the place to go. I haven’t had their ice cream yet but I can guarantee you’ll enjoy it.

I come here a lot for the Gelato and to say hello to George. Ill make this clear, as a Gelato place, its a very typical, ordered in for tourist consumption Gelato. Id ask which brand of Gelato they use if youre curious. Its not bad Gelato by any means,, its good.. just not anything new or special.. rating as a Gelato plaw, 3.5 stars. As a tea house... 2 stars. If you're looking for boba tea this isn't the place... their boba is constantly over cooked and they do not use enough honey (very mushy and bland). It actually will ruin the tea with its bland flavor. All of their tea is brewed to order so expect a wait and also expect it to be watery if you order your tea iced. I've only ordered iced. They do not actually compensate mathematically correctly for iced teas... they say they do but they dont. They may try, but its a big fail. Expect an edit if I ever order hot tea and my experience changes...

Gelato pt2. : Their selection of gelato is good but nothing different than the gelato many offer as it's not made in house, simply food vendors. It's still good though.

If you're looking for a sweet ice cream like treat in Big Bear, that isn't ice cream,, definitely come here. If you're looking for boba tea, avoid it. I've tossed 2 large teas now, I simply couldn't drink them.

It's worth mentioning again that the staff are very nice.

I don’t understand how this place does so well with its tea. The gelato is good, the slushies are good, but the tea, oh god. I’m sorry but it’s not good at all. I’ve tried the lavender milk tea with boba and literally is just water with milk. No actual flavor. Tea is more than just boiling water, throwing a tea bag in the water and mixing with milk. The next time I visited this place I tried the Thai tea. Same story. It’s so flavorless. By all means, I’m not completely hating this place, the gelato is good, but please work on your tea. We always stop in here when we visit big bear. This little shop is so great, and the gelato is heavenly. The flavor varieties! The candy selection! Stop in, you won't be sorry.

I’ve traveled around the entire country and this place so far has the best tea I’ve ever had. They make each drink individually and uniquely, making sure temperatures and time are exact. Yeah, you might not get your drink in 50 seconds but relax for a few minutes and accept that quality is far better than just rushing the process. Good drinks are not made to be done too fast. Plus, especially after talking with the owner, I can tell he is very passionate about his job which is nice.

The boba pearls were good but the drink itself (milk tea) was very weak and didn't taste great.

Waited for drinks a little longer because they are each made individually from scratch. So worth it! Many tea and smoothie flavors- excellent boba. Friendly service.

The best ice cream on the mountain hands down. They give bomb sized portions. I’d post a photo but it’s hard not to just eat it.

Some tried & true flavors as well as some more exotic & lesser know flavors of gelato. The guy running the counter has a ton of personality... A little loud, but fun.

Fabulous! Don’t miss this place! I stopped in for a few tins of loose teas and ended up trying custom-made tea drinks. No powdered artificial ingredients and wow!, simply delicious. Skip Starb**** and come here! We were offered samples of milk tea and boba. Very courteous service as well!

They are very generous with portions and if you love dark chocolate, try chocolate sorbet. It will blow your mind. Green tea gelato was also yummy. Highly recommended!

Very rude first of all and the milk tee was awful
When we were sitting outside one of the employees runs in and starts to yell at the others telling them they didn’t send something. So He yelled back calling her a dim wit.
This was 4th of July weekend. And just overall very unprofessional and would never like to return to this place.

My wife and I wandered in craving a scoop of gelato. A scoop we did not receive, for we made a gross miscalculation: we observed that the "medium" bowl appeared to be sized appropriately for our humble needs. Little did we know that the bowl was not the container, but merely a foundation upon which our dessert experience would be built. Upon this foundation, the genial madman behind the counter served--nay, constructed--for us a saccharine monument to rival the Tower of Babel. Its frozen spires, buttressed by sweeping arches and vast domes of sugary majesty, soared to such heights that we nearly had to duck to clear the doorway. It was a feat of confectionery engineering unrivalled in the modern age, for which we paid dearly... not in currency, for the prices were very reasonable, but in several laps around the lake.

We shall return... But when we do, we shall order a small!
