We wanted to debunk a few one star reviews we saw, first of all our food did not take even close to an hour to come, our waiter Anthony was amazing kindest man on the face of the earth, the drinks were great and the food was not bland at all. Will be coming back here (not Outback or claim jumpers) next time we’re in big bear! This place is bussin, Ryan Trahan needs to come rate this place, if I could give it six stars I would. GET THE BIRRIA TACOS!!!!! 10/10!!!!

We came in on a Sunday morning to have our final breakfast in Big Bear. The ambiance, decorations, and artwork set the tone for a great experience. We did not have any expectations of the food based on our location, however, we were blown away by the different flavors. With multiple salsas ranging from mild and hot was great. We had a birria soup and bomb green chilaquiles that were delicious. I would recommend this place, good food, great services, and decent prices!

We went to Muchachos for the first time on Halloween and it was pretty busy but we were able to try some delicious tacos 🌮 We have gone multiple times since then and I can definitely say that the staff are amazing, the food is BOMB (for the most part) and it’s got a great vibe. I will say that I didn’t like that there was only one women serving the ENTIRE place on Halloween. She was running a mile a minute helping customers and I don’t think that’s fair. I would encourage the company to hire on more folks or prepare better for holidays because it sucked to see her have to work on overload because there wasn’t enough staff. It increased wait times and support for customers. Each time we’ve visited, multiple items on the menu were not available so we have had to adjust our order because of that as well. Overall a great place but I took off an extra star because it didn’t look like the place was staffed well and I don’t think that’s fair to the current employees.

Amazing staff and excellent food!

We came with our two toddlers and everyone was so warm and welcoming- helping us with high chairs and seating. They recommended lots of options and we went with the fajitas which were full of flavor, the kids burrito which our boys devoured, and the breakfast taco with birria which was exceptional.

The margaritas did not disappoint !

The owner, Rick, was present and doing everything from seat, filling chips, and clearing tables. It was obvious from how happy and helpful the staff was and how satisfied customers were — that this restaurant is run with heart!

We will keep this a spot for all of our visits to Big Bear!

Service was very good. Our waitresses was very kind and attentive. That being said, I don't plan on coming back. The fish taco had two or three thin strips of fish (like it was torn apart) and the tortilla was just filled with lettuce/cabbage. I felt the lack of protein as I held the taco in my hand. There were three small shrimps in my shrimp taco, and the tortilla was medium sized. The cheese enchiladas were cold and the cheese inside was not melted at all. The chips were OK, but some of them were still chewy and undercooked.

Very friendly staff, very family friendly. Also very accommodating to food allergies thanks to having a real in-house chef preparing everything fresh. This is a favorite spot of mine for Big Bear Lake.. Recommend the tacos, and my son loves the burritos.
The shrimp is their specialty.
My wife loves the chicken taquitos.

I have been here several times and enjoyed the food and drinks. This time the experience was awful, took my daughter's last month in October. The food is not the same very low quality and the drinks were awful I ordered a long island, who knows what was. I spent over $300 and was charged a service fee on top of that. I will not go there again for that kind of money I will go to claim Jumpers or outback. I didnt want make a seen or complain as I was with family, I did call them a day or two later and got some one with attitude and did not care.

If youre looking for authentic Mexican restaurant, this is not it. The waitress was really nice but the food took and hour to be ready and when we were served it was not even good. I will stick to cooking my enchiladas and red salsa at home better than coming here.

Food was just outright dry and BLAND! Elote had way too much mayo and very little cheese or seasoning. Wet burrito had no flavor while being mostly filled with refried beans. Birria tacos were an astounding 20$ for 3!! Beef was dry and tasteless. Waiter was nice and helpful, cool guy.

We went here because it had decent reviews after we werent able to get into a few other restaurants. They had one server, one at the bar, one expo, and one cleaner. When we got to the restaurant it wasnt that busy but service was slow because one server was for the entire restaurant. Her attention got worse as the restaurant filled up. We placed our food order pretty quickly because everyone was hungry. Took about 45 minutes to get the food out once ordered but during that time you had to wrangle the server in to get refills. They did make a mistake on the kids order and they brought out the correct items later. Food was ok but lacked good flavor. One of the baskets of chips were stale and wasnt able to get it changed because the server was too busy. The kicker was once we got the bill. Asked for a side of sour cream and they charged $2.50 for about a small spoon full... Way too much for too little. What I didnt see posted anywhere including the menu is they add a 19.4% service charge. No notice, no explanation, no notification just.... Surprise, youre getting hit with a big service charge. This wasnt a tip charge after asking just told its a service charge we add to your bill.... I was too tired to argue but needless to say, that was my first and last visit. Kid-friendliness: They have a small menu for kids. Ordered chicken tenders and got cheese quesadillas. They made the order right but they mixed up the order for both my kids.

My husband and I decided to try this place out and unfortunately it was very disappointing.. I ordered the chicken taquitos they literally had no chicken, I felt like I was eating nothing but a fried rolled up tortilla.. the food had no flavor ( sazon like we Mexicans call it ) we literally had to take the lid off the salt shaker to add salt to try and get some flavor. I love love Mexican food but for me this was far from that . The beer was good though..

Excellent little tucked-away mexican joint next to a winery. They served breakfasts which bailed us out when that damn teddy bear cafe was ridiculously crowded. The service was chill and polite, the food was hot and tasty, and the drinks were solid. The spiced coffee was awesome! Yeah dont skip here if you want breakfast, we had a great meal and chill vibes while avoiding the tourists at teddy bear. Vegetarian options: Standard mexican faire, so come with that in mind. I got the brrakfast burrito and it was awesome. My wife got the enchiladas and i will say i prefer the red sauce on it.

Eaten here a few times and its pretty inconsistent. At least theres usually no wait even on a busy weekend night.... The carne adasa fries are the best thing Ive had here but are way worse than the dirty fries at Firerock

Great live music. Good chips and salsa. Wanted it hotter but then I saw that some people actually complained about hot salsa. If youre complaining about salsa being hot, at a Mexican restaurant, maybe youre not meant for this. Anyways, we were greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, had our order taken and our food at the table within 15 min. Great experience.

Restaurants need additional service staff. Came here on Taco Tuesday with a few tables filled. One of the servers asked us what we wanted to drink and after bringing our waters we waited 10 minutes. Another 5 minutes go by and we ask if our server can take our order, they say ok, and then we wait another 10 minutes before another server asks us what we want. Food quality was overall good and came out faster than it took waiting to take our order. Advice: Why is the restaurant having its bartenders take order, make drinks, and running food?

Wings come out dry and crispy with sauce on the side (my favorite way to eat them and we didnt even ask) fries came out fast and crispy (not burnt) Esquite was great, drinks were great, highly recommend stopping by, they are dog friendly and always being your pup a bowl of water

We had our monthly Ladies Luncheon there for the first time. Waited over 20 minutes to order a drink. After the group was there waited another 30 minutes to put in our order. I was going to order a quesadilla but the waitress talked me into the Mini Baritta tacos. I told her I have a sensitive stomach and she said I could handle the salsa. I got my plate which had a salsa on it. I took one bite and it was so hot I could not eat at all. I asked to speak to the owner but they were not available. They took the food off my bill but I still had a $50 bill for one large Margarita and one regular. I usually do not complain and just don t go back when I have a problem but this place is ridiculous. They charge $21 for a large margarita and $15 for a regular. I owned my own restaurant for years and cannot believe that people think they can do this to even tourists and they ll come back

In Big Bear; not a busy city. Arrived as a tourist, tired and starving. Is this where I start to rave about Big Bear or just this restaurant? Door Dash delivers!!!! There were multiple choices but this restaurant just spoke to us? The fajitas - remember delivered - hot/steaming, abundant protein with bell peppers/onions (during inflation!!), flavorful, 3 corn tortillas (if you want more ask), the fillings gratefully justify more but are equally yummy In omelettes the next morning! Comes with rice and beans. Gosh - this was a win!

Service was slow. Ordered our food, one meal came out, waited 30 more minutes for the second meal, without see our waitress. Eventually found her and told her to cancel the remaining meal. Ended up paying $80 for a couple drinks and 2 cold tacos. Server said she d give us a discount next time like there s anyway I d ever go back.

Ordered the Spicy Shrimp and it was great! Just spicy enough to still taste the shrimp. Cooked well. Freshly cooked rice and good refried beans. Also got the Guacamole. It was full of perfectly ripe avacado chunks and seasoned just right. It was delivered fast and was still hot thanks to Oscar, a Doordash driver.

I ordered the Fajitas. The chicken was dry with no seasoning, the beef was tough. Im guessing you use frozen meats. The vegetables, rice, beans and tortillas were just ok.

Horrible experience. First my brother in laws beer was warm so that went back. Then my sisters drink had a shard of glass in it she luckily caught before consuming. I ordered a jarritos orange soda and a water and never got my water. Funny the menu says first chips and salsa free anything after there is a charge but after 20 minutes or so after ordering and getting our drinks we had to request the chips and salsa. Now I am extremely weak to salsas and every salsa is hot to me but even this salsa was so bad I was actually wondering if it was just dirty dish water because it literally taste like water. No flavor no spice. Nothing. The food was horrible my enchiladas where nasty and the cheese inside wasnt even melted. Worst rice and bean in my life and Ive eaten alot. Spat out rice 3 times because of hard clusters and swallowed once what I was hoping was hard rice by accident. Sad to say but I would consider taco bell better mexican food than this place. It was 6 of us and every single one of us felt like we just got robbed or scammed. Funny at the bottom of the menu it also says parties of 6 or more will automatically be charged 11 % I believe for gratuity. That should have been a sign from the start but lessoned learned and never again will we eat here. The next day we went to saucy mamas pizza I believe was the name and that place is awesome great food good service and at the bottom of there menu it says show your receipt next door for 10 % off so we did and got icecream and some chocolates that where a perfect end to that night. So thank you saucy mamas for saving our experience in big bear. This mexican loves enchiladas rice and beans. Muchachos you should be ashamed of yourselfs. Our next trip saucy mamas will be getting our money 100%!

I never leave reviews, but this was absolutely ridiculous. I paid for a birria taco plate, which is supposed to come with beans and rice for $16. Order arrived to my house (DoorDash) with no beans or rice. I even ordered utensils and condiments which weren t in the order, either. They didn t even give me napkins lol this is the first time I ve felt like an establishment purposely disrespected me. I just paid $18, after taxes, for 3 tacos that weren t even all that good. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Never ordering from here again, and I hope anyone who is thinking about it reads this first.

This place is a disaster! We were excited to try the Cantaritos since were from Jalisco but they tasted NOTHING like what a cantarito should taste like (besides the fact that they only had 2 actual Cantaritos available and served the other 2 in regular glasses and before us they didnt even knew the clay cups are called Cantaritos). They were so bitter we had to add salt to make them bearable and even then I was only able to force myself to drink about 1/3 of mine. The salsa (for the chips) was horrible and very watery. We also had to add salt to it to be able to eat it. We ordered fries which arrived very late and with no ketchup or dressing. We asked for ketchup and ranch and we were almost halfway through the fries when we had to get up and ask for ketchup and ranch again since no one had come to our table in a while. They gave us a bottle of ketchup since they had it right there but the ranch never came. After a while we got up again and just grabbed a Valentina bottle that was sitting on the counter since we knew asking them for anything was useless. The entire time we were there they NEVER brought Napkins. Although our server was nice, everyone else seem annoyed we we asked them anything. AVOID THIS PLACE!

When we sat down we waited for right around 15 mins before we had to say something asking where our server was. After that they asked us if we wanted chips but never brought us the chips and salsa when we asked twice. Asked for a side of rice and beans with my food and they brought them out a good 5 minutes before my entree and with no silverware. Had to ask for another side as they were cold by the time my food arrived and upon receiving the replacement those were also cold. Entree was sub par wouldnt say it was worth the price though.

My husband and I casually found this spot while in big bear and it was more then what I expected, from the start the gentleman at the bar greeted us was VERY attentive and polite made sure we had everything we needed, he even gave me a free shot. I would definitely recommend it s a chill spot the birria tacos were delicious.

Maybe the worst grilled fish taco I ever had, the meat portion was so small one person asked if it was a goldfish taco. Overall pretty dang expensive but its expected for a tourist area. Margaritas are good.

Great margaritas here! I got the cucumber jalapeño and my husband go the tpaige. Both were so flavorful and strong. If you like sweeter go with the tpaige, Each was around $18. They had a cute patio with high chairs. They are dog friendly which was a plus. The waiter/bartender was all by himself but he provided us with amazing customer service

We were looking for a place with bloody Mary s and breakfast and we found it, a lot of the other places were super packed and we found this little hidden gem because we saw 2 people on the front patio and realized it was there, once we got in people started to come in and fill up, they make their own Bloody Mary mix just FYI so get here early

This place was so disappointing. The service was slow and terrible, couldnt even get anyone to acknowledge us unless we shouted for them as they ran by avoiding eye contact at all cost. The food was bland and over priced. I had the Carne Asada burrito, but only saw a few tiny pieces of meat. It was also so loud that you couldnt even have a conversation with someone on the other side of the table. The fries were good, thats about the only compliment I can give them.

Food was good but service was terrible. We sat ourselves down and waited 10 minutes for him to acknowledge us. The young Server hardly checked in on us and kept talking his friend for 30 minutes. Server left the tables a mess with dishes, tables not properly cleaned. hardly interacted with us, no greetings. Gave his friend better service than anyone there. We had to flag him down for him to refill our drinks and to pay for the food.

The restaurant itself is really cute! The food and service not so great. The waiter did offer or bring us any water. Thats usually the first thing waiters do. I asked for tequila and club soda, Patron in particular but they told me they didnt have Patron. I asked for a blended margarita but he said they dont blend their margaritas. The food was not the best and the drinks were not good. Very dissatisfied.

Not the best but not the worst, tacos are super small but flavorful, the carne asada burrito was large but it had too much beans and rice and not enough meat, the service was ok and the prices were kinda high, it might be because of the touristy part of the Big Bear Village I think I ll be trying out a different restaurant in this area next time

French fries were bomb. I <3 Tyler. The burrito was life changing. Owner (Tyler) was very nice and cool. Quesadilla slapped harder than Mike Vick. My father liked the sauce on the enchiladas. My brother said his quesadilla burned when it came out the other end, but it was worth it. I have dreams about this place. So good, 11/10 would recommend. I love you Tyler.

Tyler was very friendly and provided excellent service. The ambiance is warm with bar, booth, and outdoor seating options. Will definitely return for another Al pastor burrito soon. Oh yeah and the home made salsa is bomb!

We had a very nice time food was great ,drinks and Sophia was a sweet youn lady very good service as well as the owner very attentive and they also had nice music good place to enjoy the experience of big bear ty for all the special treatment and experience of good people treating each other.

Was excited about this place after seeing pictures of the loteria cards throughout the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food fell flat. The Carne asada burrito was actually a bean burrito with a few pieces of unseasoned steak. The elote was pretty to look at, but the flavor was off , maybe it was the sweet corn they used. The salsa had a taste of seafood, almost like they used it for ceviche. The positives about this place was the service, our server was super friendly and the food came out quick. The highlight was the birria Tacos, probably the best item on the menu.

Had gone there 2 weeks ago on a Sunday and had a margarita flight and some food service was great everything was great.So I decided to take my son and his girlfriend there today to eat and have another margarita flight ,but when we orderd I was told by the waiter that they no longer sell flights on the weekends and that there to expensive there 50 bucks and we were better off with a margarita because it was cheaper so I orderd a chamoy mango with should of been blended not on the rocks and it was terrible .I was very disappointed and regret taking my family from out of town there and will not being going back ,and would suggest to muchachis if they no longer sell margarita flights on the weekends they should post something on there website

We were lucky to find this spot after we were told by a handful of other spots that they were full and stopped serving at 9pm on a busy friday. Bright and colorful atmosphere with great service and delicious food. Large margaritas made with fresh squeezed citrus juices and home made mexican tamarind candy syrup rim, so delicious!

This is the place that I needed all day. The servers are professional and welcoming once your presence is made known at this bar and restaurant. The noise levels inside the restaurant can get quite loud depending on the crowd. There is streetside and outside dining available, as well as inside booths and high tables. I ordered the carne asada fries and they were flavorful from the first bite, they were well-dressed and even had beans inside which is a plus for me. The steak was not chewy or overcooked, the main thing I can not stress enough is that this place has flavor! I also ordered a pacifico on tap, the beer was fresh and fully carbonated it was not one flat spot in that beer. I will always be returning to muchachos because today was the day where I needed great customer service and they dominated it. Theres no podium at the front entrance so walk on in and make your presence known so you dont feel some type of way for waiting in the front. I give this small place a 5 out of five for overall customer service and care.

Let me start by saying I had high hopes for this place due to reviews but all I have to say is don t come here if you like authentic Mexican . The food was EXTREMELY BLAND ! the 4$ tacos (each btw) had no meat all cabbage . We also ordered tacos dorados they were 3 and super tiny (appetizer size) . The only good thing we had were the wings &fries super disappointed. Our waitress was nice .

I recently dined here again and definitely forget my first experience at Muchachos. A couple takeaways from my recent visit. The service was lacking, the food was very subordinate, and the pricing was outrageous. With the lack of good Mexican food in the valley I was hoping this place would be the savior. One more thing of mention, Ive never seen a restaurant so dirty and unkept. There were dirty plates everywhere on the bar and food all over the floor. The good news is theres an excellent Indian food restaurant next door.

Fake Mexican food and horrible service. The owner has no professionalism as he publicly talks trash about his previous customers while hes working. If hes going to talk smack he at least better serve good food. Nope. Our nachos were burnt and he dropped of the plate and said, theyre a little toasty. How are you going to still serve this? They were dry and nasty. No standards.

I m married to a Mexican Puerto Rican so I m familiar with Mexican food. And let me tell you, this place is PHENOMENAL! Service was outstanding with the owner there to greet us and help serve us. The atmosphere is very chill and awesome. If you re looking for great tasting food and hospitable service i HIGHLY recommend coming here!

Were in town visiting from southern Arizona. Honestly didnt have high expectations because of the small, top of a mountain away from everything town. The quality of the food, drinks, salsa, everything blew us away. Absolutely amazing and authentic taste. Nothing but 5 stars for this place and Id definitely come here all over again

Fast seating & Friendly staff, Great Customer Service. We definitely recommend the Elote Fries very filling. When they say they have the best Fajitas Muchachos is not lying. Overall Great Experience.

My family is visiting from Chicago and we found this AMAZING place to have lunch! The tacos are indescribably DELICIOUS! We had the Birria, steak, shrimp and Barbacoa tacos and we didn t leave a crumb behind! The beer and drinks were also very well served!! We recommend this place to anyone that wants to have an excellent eating experience! Best place EVER!

Dont go here if you want to enjoy your vacation and dont want food poisoning. Had the carne asada and knew something was off, but holy hell was the level of food poisoning terrible. Thank God the kids didnt eat and that their grandparents were there to take care of them, while my gf, her sister, and I had the worst food poisoning of out lives.

I would leave zero stars if I could. This food left me and my sister bedridden for two days while on vacation with food poisoning. Carne asada tasted really off and overall, the food just wasnt good. Save yourself money and your health and DO NOT EAT HERE!!

We absolutely loved and adored this place. The staff are just about the most amazing people ever, and the drinks are one of a kind. We wouldve spent our entire vacation in this place, but then we wouldnt have remembered any of the vacation :D Wonderful place and you should definitely at least get yourself a margarita on the way by (they also make them to-go), its worth the stop.

This place is amazing! Margaritas are to die for. So balanced and so delicious. Ignore any negative review! They care and make everything from scratch. It is a small restaurant and they get very busy so waiting an extra few minutes is NBD! Get the margarita flight, all the tacos, and you will be so happy. Val is a GEM! Been searching for a place like this in BB forever. Will be spending all my money here this summer!

Worst Carne aside burrito I have ever had. Almost no meat with no flavor. Dry beans, no flavor. No cheese on the burrito. Wings were soggy.

We ordered the fish tacos and carne asada Street tacos to go and both meals were horrible. Our goal was to stay in and eat and not have to leave our resort room. In short, the food was uneatable. We will not be back.

Steak tacos are good but my order wasn t right (added cilantro to my tacos which I told them not to do). Plus they added an extra taco and charged us?? Shrimp and fish were good. Beans tasted authentic.

The tacos were good but they didnt get my wifes order right and since it was take out we didnt notice until we walked back to our resort. The shrimp or fish tacos were the best. The chicken and asada ones were good too.

Some of the best tacos in big bear, tried the birria and barbacoa and they were delicious. But their fish and shrimp tacos where awesome!! People are friendly and kind place looks amazing, will definitely come back again. Highly recommend this place!!

The food isnt Mexican the meat was gross, none of it was good... If you want to make Mexican food please watch YouTube and how to make it and good recipes, this is the worse Mexican restaurant Ive ever been to. As a mexican this isnt approved a single bit.

Talked a few others into joining us for our first visit to Muchachos last night and we were all disappointed, especially after reading several good reviews. A very limited menu. The food is not your traditional Mexican fare so we expected some great flavors from all our dishes. The beans were bland and dry, and they were room temp at best. Chile verde had six (6) small cubes of pork swimming in the sauce. The chicken taquitos were good but cmon... they could have removed the toothpicks! A house margarita was $11 and it was a little too sour. Service could use some improvement and a little professionalism will go a long way. Very slow from beginning to end, with the food arriving in two deliveries 5-6 minutes apart. P.S. Didnt realize until we got home that rice was not served with our entrees as per their menu.

9 months preggo and I wanted a margarita. Bartender really hooked it up! He created something on the spot with pineapple Im trying to induce. We called it the inducing margarita! Everyone on staff was extremely sweet and the place is crazy cool decorated. I live in Mexico and this was a nice familiar place and music was on point. I will definitely come back when I can drink one of the infamous margaritas!

We ended up here after walking through the village looking for dinner. We were greeted by friendly staff, welcoming us into the bar. We had a margarita flight, fish tacos, enchiladas, and taquitos! Everything was fresh and delicious

Don t eat at Muchachos! STAY AWAY!!!!Service is horrible!!! Server lost temper and left it to his family! Didn t ever provide itemized bill! That s all I wanted. Said they would come bill but as soon as I went home to charged my card! Family tried but didn t even know their POS system. I m all for small business and especially restaurant as I worked and managed them for 24 years!

Authentic Mexican food. We tried the beef barbacoa tacos, carne asada tacos, carne asada fries, and a chicken burrito and everyone was happy. Their rice was delicious. The barbacoa was very tender and the carne asada fries had a great flavor to the fries.

Honestly this restaurant had THEE BEST authentic food and service! It was my last night in Big Bear and Im glad I chose this place to have my final meal. The waiter was very attentive to our needs and made our experience even better. I got a chance to speak with the owner and this is a pretty new restaurant in the area. If youre visiting Big Bear and want some bomb food, you gotta go here! I recommend having the Sope Plate or Tia Belias Chile Verde with some horchata on the side
