I called in to inquire about ordering food to go. We vacation in Big Bear 5-6 times a year and have had great experiences and food here in the past. The gal I spoke to, I believe her name is Lacey, told me they aren’t doing to go orders. I expressed my dire need for a nice meal since we just lost our house in the Palisades fire and she did not accommodate me whatsoever and proceeded to direct me to WingStop!! The customer service and lack of empathy of this woman is beyond astounding and I will never return. I’m in absolute shock of the way I was spoken to over the phone and it brought me to tears.

Charming Spot, Delicious Food, and Outstanding Service
We recently dined at La Pergola and were thoroughly impressed. The location is perfect, nestled in the heart of The Village, which was beautifully decorated with Christmas lights during our visit. It added a lovely touch to the overall ambiance.
We were blown away by the service – truly 5-star quality! The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome.
The food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the Pasta Alfredo Di Verde, which was a pleasant surprise. It wasn't something we would typically order, but it was recommended, and we were not disappointed!
We were so full from our meal that we couldn't resist taking a cannolo to go. And let me tell you, it was a great decision! We devoured it later, and it was the perfect sweet treat to end our experience.
Overall, La Pergola provided a wonderful dining experience. The combination of delicious food, impeccable service, and charming location makes it a must-visit when in Big Bear. We highly recommend it!

Arrogant staff! We read the reviews but decided to give it a try anyways.
The lady at the front was actually super nice and our waitress, Michelle was nice. We ordered and everything appeared to be doing well. We got our drinks relatively quickly. After 30 minutes we got our first appetizers. My wife ordered a Lemoncello Spritz (not Santa Margarita Spritz with Lemoncello), and the drink came but had barely any lemoncello. My wife took long before deciding she was not enjoying the drink. (this was our mistake, she should have immediately mentioned this to the waitress) WHen she was half way the drink, she told me she could barely taste the limoncello. So I encourage her to mention this to our waitress nonetheless. So we asked Michelle if she could fix it (by adding more Lemoncello) and she went to the bar and came back and bluntly said "that was the recipe", and they had cameras to prove they had poured their recipe in the cocktail, and if she wanted more she would have to pay for another shot of Lemoncello. (THey use Villa Massa Lemon Liquor, which a bottle costs 27 USD, so a splash of it to fix our instasifaction would have been minimal cost). Also, the fact that that is their recipe, and they have cameras to prove they did it correctly is entirely irrelevant. I have had 2 restaurants, and a spirits business myself, when a costumer asks for a drink fix, you dont hesitate. We thought it was completely out of line, specially for a restaurant that is priced as if you were in a super expensive restaurant in New York. So we took the hit, and waited, and waited and waited for the rest of our food. Our three children were hungry, tired and desperate to get our food. So my wife, after the experience with square by the book minded waitress Michelle, stood up and went to ask to the Manager Cora about our food as we had waited for more than one hour for 2 pizzas and one pasta. Instead of descalating as a savy manager should do, she rudely told her that there were times for food to be made and that when the food was ready they would serve it. This of course, made my wife feel bad. She came back later to the table (Cora), a bit more calmed, (still with a weird face) and said the food was almost ready, this is a restaurant that sells a lasagna for 35 dollars! Michelle later came back again to check if the food was alright. I now know it was Cora the one that decided it would not make sense to splash a bit of Lemoncello to fix my wife's drink too. ALthough we understand this is their busiest time of the year, you would expect they prepare accordingly with additional staff to make sure you dont have to wait that long for your food. Again, please keep in mind they charge super high prices so expect super high service, right? Another unusual fact, is that they charge a 3% fee for using your debit or credit card to pay. I guess I would be ok in Costco, where margings are so tight that not doing so would really affect their profitability, but not in an expensive restaurant. Anyways, You would expect much better service and empathy from Cora, the General Manager! Not coming back ever, nor do we recommend the management. Pizza was very good, the pasta was pretty average but the experience in general was not good because of how Cora handled the whole situation.

While visiting the area myself & family from the area were fortunate to have the opportunity to visit this establishment .
We were immediately greeted & welcomed by the amazing staff upon arrival.
I had called ahead due to having a larger party (7 people), and they were happy to accommodate our party. In fact, they had our table ready upon arrival.
I can't say enough of the fabulous experience our amazing experience our waitress provided us. As many realize in CA, good customer service is few and far between, so finding amazing customer service is a rarity.
She was not just kind and patient with our larger party but knowledgeable about the establishment and knew the menu to a tee. Which I find is beyond helpful while on a first dining experience at a restaurant.
Our waitress never let our drinks go dry and was there remarkably every time we needed anything.I can't say enough good about her and the personable dining experience she provided us.
When our orders were brought to the table, they were wonderfully displayed and prepared. At a perfect temperature 🌡 and every bite was delicious 😋
Everyone in our party had a great time and experience. We couldn't help but check out eachothers meals as each was prepared beautifully.
Wish I could remember our dear waitresses' name to give her a shout-out! Sorry!
If in the area, definitely give this establishment a visit. A must visit dining experience for this area as options of this type are limited.

Hubby and I were on vacation and decided to get Italian food. I cook a lot at home trying various recipies from Pinterest or Food Network. So it was nice to get a break.

We order the focaccia bread with the tapa dipping oil and the bruschetta for appetizers. Margarita pizza, Caesar salad, lemon chicken soup and the manicotti.

The focaccia bread was delicious with the tapa oil. But that Balsamic vinegar that they used and the olives that they used in there really give it that “Wow” flavor.

The bruschetta that my husband ordered was just as amazing. The fresh mozzarella cheese, the toast, fresh slices of basil, tomato and the olive oil was a party surprise in your mouth.

The pizza was grilled and absolutely delicious as was the lemon chicken soup and baked manicotti.

We went to Giada’s restaurant in Las Vegas and this restaurant here in Big Bear was just as amazing and for half the price.

I highly suggest you try this place out. Well worth the money.

Service was good, however the food is reheated and not made fresh to order. Also the flavor of the pasta sauce is way below the line. Also if you are going to charge top dollar for pasta dishes you need to at least offer real parmigiana cheese. Will not come back.

Never coming back here again. We actually like their food but not after their completely rude service (or lack of) today. It was around 1:30pm, place was completely empty, plenty of outdoor seating. We had a dog so needed to be seated outside. The table they initially tried to seat us had half the table in full sun so we tried to get another table in the shade esp for my elderly parents. We avoided sitting at the larger tables and asked if they clear the only other table for 4 in the shade. The hostess started arguing with me and tried to seat us at tables in partial sun, then rudely told us to move while they cleared the table. 10 minutes later, we were still waiting for a table. Never again. I can only wonder why this place is empty when all the other restaurants on the Village have wait times.

My wife and I came in for lunch on this Saturday (Shrimp Scampi - $40 & Chicken Piccata - $40).The prices are very high for what you get (main course, (small servings) small soup or salad). Garlic bread with the meal would have been appropriate. We’ve never been to any Italian restaurant that didn’t serve fresh Garlic Bread with an expensive meal.
The food was just ok, nothing special. This was our first and last visit at this establishment. The food at “Sweet Basil” is much better.

I go up to big bear lake often but I usually cook for my woman. This weekend we met up with some of our friends and decided to eat out for dinner. She recommended this Italian restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Very gracious hostess and server. They exceeded my expectations, even though we had a party of 8. Food was delicious and very good portions. No one left hungry. Only 4 of us were able to share desserts. Some plates are pricier but you can eat well for under 20 a person.

Gnocchi was stale, but panini was good. Butterfly lemonade was very tasty. Umbrellas were placed poorly, causing the sun to make everyone uncomfortable. When trying to fix the umbrellas, I was scolded, even though there was only one other person in the restaurant, so it wouldn’t affect anyone. Music was good but far too loud.

This is the best place in Big Bear, hands down. I’m a local and this spot is the business. The staff were all amazing, very warm, kind, helpful and they were so loving with my little baby walking all over the place.

The drinks…I can die happy now. I got the limoncello cocktail which was refreshing and fabulous and my partner had the tiramisu cocktail which was very impressive.

For food we had the funghi (mushroom) pizza which was delicious. The tiramisu was good although I’m used to the lady fingers being more saturated it was still delicious and nice to know it was made in house. The seating is great with lots of indoor and outdoor options. There’s a whole section in the back where you could have a fancy banquet dinner - I’m already trying to find something to celebrate and invite all of my friends to.

Loved it and I can’t wait to visit again to explore more menu items!

Food here @ La Perloga Trattoria was at a different level. See I know how difficult could be to keep fresh food in Big Bear due to the location. And some restaurants do struggle and shows in their food. Well well well. The chef and cooks at the restaurant did KNOW the assignment. The food is OUTSTANDING. It REALLY stands out and is NOT the same as other Italian restaurant. This chef definitely knows what his doing and it wow me. And I don’t get impressed easily. I mean hands down if Gordon Ramsay comes here, the ONLY comment he might say is about the curtains. But the food needs NO improvement EVERYTHING from the bruschetta was exquisite, to the pizza, my spaghetti with meat sauce, the garlic bread with cheese the sauce is TO DIE FOR. My husband ordered roasted beef that was delishhhhh!!!!! So so good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I ordered the Cappellini Al Pomodoro with grilled chicken and it just melted in my mouth. The caprese salad was delicious as well, not to mention the cheese bread! It is astonishing to me that a restaurant like this one has WiFi but will not share it. Be sure to keep this in mind when you are considering

Our experience was so bad and literally they messed up our vacation day with their attitude! We were 4 people and 3 kids, 5,2 and 1 year old. They got the receipt and charging us for party service fee because were 6 persons as they counted the 2 and 1 year old babies as persons to get the 18% service fees. When were talking about this issue with the waitress, she was so disrespectful and she started laughing as bullier, she said you ordered too much food for more than 6 persons which is not her business 😅 and when we asked for the manager she was so much worse than the waitress!she told us she will call the police and we waited for the police with our kids, no one showed up and she didn’t call us, they were threatening us! And when they moved out the party service fee after all that we sure gave that amount as tip for another waiter because he was helpful nore than the manger herself! We had to read your reviews anyways so we can know that we were going to the wrong place!

My friend and I stopped here after a wonderful weekend getaway in Big Bear, and it was the cherry on top of our trip. We both absolutely loved our food. I had the chicken parmesan, and the homemade red tomato sauce is amazing! You can taste the freshness and the blend of spices are perfect. My friend loved her shrimp pasta. We had every last bite! The service is fantastic, our server was attentive to our needs and helped us with everything with a smile. The atmosphere is aesthetic and quite lovely, with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the fall scenery, next to a fire pit or a heater. They also had a variety of mocktails. My lemonade mocktail was delicious and refreshing. All around I had the best experience here and will definitely be returning when I come back to Big Bear Village!

For a place that offers $100+ wine bottles, the food is terrible. First, we ordered garlic bread that came in a diner looking basket with ten oversized pieces of cheap bread. Review №92

Horrible service.
The bartender refused to pour our wine after we asked (our food had already come out). We still don't understand why there was such a problem with him doing his job. Our server was inattentive. They treated every request like a chore and were as personable as sheet metal.
The music in the dining area was obnoxious and loud, and when asked if they could turn it down, they said no and that despite all the people who complain and ask the same thing, they won't ever.
Our table ran out of parmesan cheese, and when we asked if we could get more, she argued saying there "should still be some there." It wasn't until we displayed the evidence of the very empty parmesan jar, that she handed us ANOTHER half-empty container. I will admit, it lasted us the meal, but it's the principal.
I'd be remiss to not mention the contract-level conditions on the menu, including, but not limited to:
3% service fees for credit card.
Mandatory 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more.
No substitutions.
No split checks.
And lastly, to please eat your meal in 90 minutes or less.
Now despite all this, the food is good. The chicken on the Chicken Parmesan is delightful. But is it worth the suffering of interacting with the Sheet Metal staff and the unnecessary fees? No.
If you eat here, order ahead and TAKE OUT.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody. Food is average, coffee is pretty okay, but horrible service.

We were a big group +15 and I understand they were lack of servers in the morning. Being slow, omitting menu, giving wrong drinks can happen. Even waiting for my food for 1.5h while my friends finishing their meal can be okay at some circumstances. Drinking a wrong coffee can be fine. We are all human and You can make a mistake but don’t be horrible.

The server spilled the bread on my friend’s knees and the server’s reaction was surprisingly “are you injured?”

Shouldn’t you say “I’m sorry” or “are you okay?” What’s wrong with her? No one would get injured with the bread. She kind of meant that nothing serious happened by saying so. Yes, it would have been nothing if she apologized but never did.

They forgot my food and I had to wait until my friends finished their meal. I told the server that I am still waiting for my menu and she said it is coming right away. It was a total lie. I waited another 20 mins and did not get. I told them if you missed my menu, I wanted it cancelled. They told me it is coming soon. I had to wait for another 10 mins and some of my group already left. They admitted later that the cook missed my food from the list. When they finally served my menu, I told them it’s a way too late. The server asked me if I wanted to-go. She of course knew what I meant. Anyway they removed it from the bill but never said sorry.

There are so many other mistakes but none of them seemed to care. I declined to pay 18% of service fee because it never worths. The arrogant lady said their service was good and I had to pay. What a joke. It is not even mandatory. (Anyway I paid the ridiculous service fee at the end because did not want to argue anymore.) Please don’t ruin your vacation and enjoy Big bear lake somewhere else. Just don’t go here.

Manager was disrespectful. I asked about my wait time for a salad her response was "we are not a fast food restaurant". Regardless of any situation she was very unprofessional. We wanted to like this place however service over all lacked.

Food was ok. Had the shrimp scampi and pizza. Took a while to take our order, long wait for food, and had to look for server to get the check. Never have I had a shrimp scampi sooo cheesy and very salty. The presentation was nice but food was mediocre. I forgot to take photos until almost finished but you can see how much cheese there was. I scraped some off onto the side dish.

Expensive. Didn't mind it was a special occasion. What I did mind was quality of food: $35 slice of salty lasagna, $38 for Manzo AL Marsala, beef was chewy and not a hint of marsla. Was more like stroganoff. I did tell the server I didn't care for it. She sent over a manager. She defended the dish, said she would tell the cooks and walked off. I have restaurant management experience she was the worst. Not an apology, no compensation or substitution, just attitude. So I spent a hundred dollars for nothing. To make things worse, they charge a 3% charge on a credit card, no split checks and can only use one card regardless of the number of people in your group. Our bill was over $300 and nobody was happy except for 1 person who had the fettuccine Alfredo. The place was cute and the outside seating was small but enjoyable with live music. Oh, yeah, they had a lavender iced tea that I was told was delicious $10 though.

Our 1st time here. Love trying new Italian restaurants. This was an ok experience. Plate portion was great, but flavor and service didn't balance price per plate. Probably won't return.

So, we visited this restaurant in July of 2023, with much enthusiasm because we’re always in Big Bear and looking to experience quality food. We really made a decision to eat here after reading the Owner’s response to the low starred reviews. It showed character, ownership, accountability and a sense of pride in his/ her restaurant. We felt like this was a place that valued people, food, service, and quality. I would like to think that maybe our waitress was having a bad day because the other employees were so sweet and kind, but our waitress was rude. Our food was under cooked; chicken pink on an $28 chicken parm dish (x2) , spaghetti on chkn/ parm was drenched in watery sauce, fettuccine was cold by the time it reached our table, I had it sent back. Our waitress found offense when I asked if we were getting bread but informed me in the most haughty tone that “it’s Only $5” for bread. Well, I didn’t know that , even most high end restaurants give you a bread basket. The Parmesan isn’t fresh, it’s the store bought Kraft version. Our food was not quality Italian food. It was seemed like frozen, to microwave, to plate. A 3% surcharge for using a credit card/ debit shines light on the integrity of business. The result of our visit was needing to run to the toilet RIGHT after our visit, really, no exaggeration. After our visit, it makes me question the credibility of the Owner’s previous responses because we did not encounter anyone of the sort. A Mgr/Owner should have visited our table with all of that going on. Big Bear deserves better

Expensive, slow service, dripping butter alfredo and fettuccine. Bill was $108 after tax ,tip but not including 3% charge for use of a credit card, for two entrees, side salad, 2 side soups that came with the entrees, and garlic bread. We drank water for our meal.

This was the best meal we had in BBL. We went on a Friday night an hour before they closed and we still experienced friendly service (shout out to our server Lily who was so nice!). We ordered the bruschetta burrata, insalata mista, margherita pizza and capellini al pomodoro. The only minor complaint I had was that we weren’t able to order a cappuccino after our meal because the machine had already been broken down, but it was after closing so it’s understandable. Highly recommend this place for a good meal! That’s hard to find in BBL, in my opinion.

Food is one of the most tasty we've had, portions are generous, even the bread-sticks at the beginning - the olive-oil was so good, that we wanted to drink it pure! Just like the olive oil we have back home in the Holy Land (where I'm from).

Vegetarians - take the Alfredo di Verde A'la Chef Amanda - it's de-licious !

Horrible place. Unprofessional, bad attitude, disrespectful. I suffer from chronic anxiety with severe panic attacks. I need my small service animal to be able to stay calm. The manager denied me the entrance and embarrassed me in front of every body after she asked what was my disability…medical privacy law protects my information, is not correct to ask for someone’s disability but to request what is the task the service animal performs. I was being respectful. Never had this issue before. They just triggered my anxiety and I had a panic attack.

TERRIBLE!!! The food was some of the worst Italian food I have ever had in my life! We made reservations for 7:30 and they texted us around 6:50. We got there to check in and they gave our table away because they said we didn’t respond in 15 minutes. Our original reservation was at 7:30pm. It was 30 degrees outside and they sat us at a table right next to the door in the coffee shop! I specifically asked not to be sat by the door. People were coming in and out. It was beyond weird to be eating a nice Italian dinner in a crazy freezing busy coffee shop. It was freezing and our food was cold within minutes. I had to wear my big jacket and gloves to eat! This was our last nice meal before we headed back home. It ruined the whole night and everyone was upset. They could clearly see that we were upset but just ignored us! So upsetting. I expected more from how much they charge! The only positive was that our waiter was great. He was a younger gentleman with brown hair. He deserves to be recognized for his great service skills. The Caesar salad was sweet. So weird. The pasta was hard and not cooked correctly. It was super expensive and not worth a penny!! I wish I could ask for my money back! I can’t warn you enough to go somewhere else!

They would not let us use the heaters outside in 30 degree weather. Then we decided to move inside. They didn’t want to serve us our pizzas outside and kept insisting we were to go, even though we were waiting for 40 minutes. Once we got inside we were told by an older blonde woman that we couldn’t have a larger table because a larger party was coming. (The larger party was 6 people when mine was 9). She was passive aggressive the whole time we were there. She gave us the stink eye as we walked out of the restaurant. We’ve been to this restaurant many times before and had never this happen to us before. We will not be returning.

My wife and I ended up at the Pergola after a disappointing experience at a restaurant down the street. This was our lucky day. The Pergola was just what we needed. The food was fantastic. We shared a carne pizza and a plate of the pesto farfalle. The pizza was a wonderful thin crust pizza that was crispy and had just the right amount of toppings. The farfalle was cooked perfectly and tasted like fresh pasta. The wine list was also extensive and we split a bottle of wine. The carrot cake desert and coffee where also wonderful. The server we had, Luke, was spot on. We definitely will make this a regular stop when we visit BB.

This is a restaurant serving casual Italian fare in Big Bear Lake. We took advantage of the patio seating on this great fall day.

Our server was very attentive and I enjoyed the Illy coffee before the meal.

The house salad had amazing vinaigrette, which complimented the fresh greens and cherry tomatoes. My friend ordered the meatball soup. Excellent! As it happened, our selection was unavailable so, chef Amanda prepared for me grilled chicken over linguine with squash and mushrooms. The olive oil sauce was delicious. Chef Amanda is high energy and enjoys preparing wonderful dishes.
Looking forward to the next visit!

Delicious Italian food with great service in a wonderful setting. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Everything was clean, we were prompt like seated and our server and host stopped by several times to make sure everything was taken care of. I seen my friend posted already. Angela. It's all true. Bread sticks were hard and cold. My fettuccine was horrible not even creamy just butter. Parmesan in a shaker? I think if your paying $26 or more they should grind Parmesan for your meal. Olive Garden a chain restaurant is much much better, there fettuccine is better and you get a salad. Im the only one my meal no salad or soup. Olive Garden grads Parmesan. It was our friend 55th bday and just retired. The waitress did over hear us talking. And at the end she brought the menu and said here is a dessert menu to buy our friend something. Way over priced charging for everything 3% to use a credit card. 18% service charge no split bill. We were the only ones in there first 30 min. $ 265.00 bill and we drank water. We ate out 3 days this was the last and worst. I told my mom and she said the same she wish she would of told us.

We arrived at 5. Place was empty, table was readily available. Things were going well until we opened the menu and read there was an 18% charge on parties over 6, a 3% charge for credit cards and bill splitting was not an option for parties over 6. Beadstick were hard and cold. Shrimp Scampi noodles tasted store bought, imitation parmesson cheese on the table. We were not offered fresh parmesson It's was our friends 55th birthday and when the waitress heard that, she brought us the dessert menu offering for us to purchase him one. Service was great but the food was mediocre at best especially for the price. Total bill was almost $300 for 6 people.

First, I am not a Karen and usually a very patient person. This was The worst experience ever. From the time we ordered our food, it took 80 minutes for the food to reach our table. This is not an exaggeration. They told us three times the food was coming soon, so we kept waiting. Then, the Lagrange was undercooked. We had to ask for bread (which took an hour to get). To add insult to injury, when we complained to the manager, they were "nice" enough to comp our appetizer off of our $160 bill (not even the non-alcoholic drinks were comp'ed). We heard from several people in town that this happens all of the time there. DON'T DO IT

I really wanted to like this place. We have dined here before and had a favorable experience. Unfortunately, our second visit was not as great. We were sat within 10 minutes. We ordered fairly quickly as well, but things quickly went downhill from there. My salad was dropped on the table and I waited 10 minutes, while waitstaff, bussers and hostess overlooked the fact we had no silverware on the table. I finally went and asked for silverware. They were apologetic. We waited 30 minutes for breadsticks and 50 minutes for our food. Needless to say we will not be back. If you are thinking of dining here…I would recommend picking another spot in The Village.
