Nice people, but food was just mediocre. You can get much better Mexican food at the same price by driving a little further into town. The meat was not very flavorful. Shy on sauce. Salsa was too hot and not enough pico de gallo, or whatever you call it

As a Texan I didn’t think I would find good authentic Mexican food but was beyond surprised. Food came out quick. Ramon and Karmen are wonderful people. Closest thing I’ve found to Tex-mex if I’m being honest

Grew up in this town, I have nothing good to say about it except a handful of restaurants. My family regularly ate at La Paws since I was a child and even after having long moved to the city, La Paws is still my favorite restaurant. The only thing I regret, is having to drive to Big Bear if I wanna enjoy their food. I wish they'd move their business to somewhere around LA or at least open another location, they'd make way better profits.

Update: went here for my birthday for the first time in about 9 years, I was happy to find the same chef still works here and I can attest, even despite living in the city, La Paws is still the best Mexican food I've ever had.

So for quick, cheap, Mexican food this will do the trick. I'm not a real foodie so I will go to places like this. I have the chicken burrito and it was okay to the taste. The whole thing was just filled with chicken. And I would say the quality of the chicken was questionable. The taste of the food was okay but I definitely would not say it was anything gourmet or special. I'm sure they probably had other things on the list that were really good but I felt like the quality was just thrown together. Don't expect a lot such as a fancy sit-down restaurant. And then you won't be disappointed. I am wondering if my bowels are feeling it a little bit from the food there.

Good options for all the usual Mexican food offerings, with breakfast and hamburgers to round out the menu. Reasonable prices and quick service by the friendly staff. Inside dining has 6 tables with outside dining an option, weather permitting, for 4 tables. It's a small local eatery, cozy for those who appreciate it. As others have noted, the food isn't terribly spicey and doesn't start a fire in your face. Many people enjoy tasting the flavors of their food and if you're looking for that, then this is the place for you. Enjoy!

After my 5th time trying la Paz (15 year big bear resident) doing my best to support local businesses. This place has always been disgusting disappointment. Raw flavorless fatty meats. I got half way through my red Chile pork burrito( that had green sauce not red) the meat was raw & pink. It sent me to the restroom all day for 3 days in a row. The asada was flavorless chunks. Just simply a terrible place to eat & extremely over priced.

Beautiful food and beautiful service. Very homy and welcoming, I felt safe and comfortable eating. The food was really good, very tasty and delicious. I would say this is kind of a texmex, or authentic mexican restaurant. Been going here for years and I'll continue to go:)

Published 4 years ago

Review №91

Service was fast and the waitress was friendly. The food was out in ten minutes or less, and the portions were large. I was expecting it to be more authentic instead of TexMex, but it was still delicious. I was hoping they had margaritas but no such luck. They have a few beer selections for those who want alcohol with their meal. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a quick, large portioned TexMex meal.

My partner and I was seated quickly. We sat next to a window which had a lovely breeze. The hostess/waitress was nice. Place is small but has plenty of parking.the food came out in under 10 minutes after we ordered. With that being said my food was not so great. The rice was hard and the enchiladas flavor was overpowered by the clumps of cheese. The beans tasted like it was from a can. The salsa was the most dissapointing. My partner ordered the asada wet burrito which he said was really good.

The server was about as dispirited a person I could imagine. Maybe she’s the owner’s put-upon daughter conscripted into a sort of slave labor, but she cast a pall on what otherwise was a so-so Mexican restaurant. It’s walking distance from my summer home but I won’t go back.
Now I’ve had time to think about it I’ve lowered my score to one star. The salsa was out of a jar and the food pretty bad. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This owner shouldn’t run a restaurant.
