It was my first time visiting Big Bear Lake, and after a long 5-hour drive, the one thing in my mind was breakfast. I searched all over google and came across lumberjack Cafe. I am so happy I came across this place because the food was to die for! My recommendation is the Chilaquiles hands down.

This family-owned café was a pleasant surprise to have lunch today. There are several small dining areas inside and plenty of seating available outside the restaurant. This is by no means fancy dining, but the home-style family atmosphere more than makes up it. This is a charming little café with a wonderful staff that were very attentive and the food was very good. The side salad was freshly made and more than ample in size and we really liked the bacon cheeseburger. The one thing we would recommend, park on the side of the restaurant rather than in front of it if possible. The traffic racing down the street can be a problem at certain times of the day if you are trying to back up. Otherwise, it will be a great location to have breakfast or lunch while being well taken care of by friendly staff members who make you feel like part of the family.

Had a nice variety on their menu! Many options! Dog friendly on the patio! Ordered a mimosa, but it was basically orange juice in a wine glass. My husband enjoyed his Lumberjack meal. I ordered a crab omelet, but maybe I missed it on the menu that it was imitation crab, which was a disappointment. Good flavor, but not a fan of imitation crab, wish it was clearly stated that this was the case.

Watched people come in after us and get served first, and when we did get our food it was all room temperature. Had to ask the waitress to microwave my wifes coffee. She threw up immediately after we left. It wasnt busy and shouldnt have taken so long to get cold food. Just go somewhere else, dont waste your time or money.

Good food but was very disappointed that our server said we can add strawberries to our kids breakfast, but didn t tell us it would be an extra $6. Our kids meal was $18 and more than the adult version that comes with the fruit and whipped cream! Mentioned this to the server and said we could have ordered the adult version for $14 and she didn t care. Unacceptable and will not return.

The main reason for giving one star is the bathroom. The sinks water temperature controls are reversed compared to the standard, with cold on the left and hot on the right. My 7-year-old daughter burned her hand because the water was scalding hot, resulting in a first-degree burn. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she seemed to be unconcerned, saying it s an old establishment. I recommended posting a warning sign, but they shrugged it off and didnt offer any discount. Very disappointing experience. Be cautious if you have little ones.

I went to breakfast this morning with a friend of mine and thought we would try the Lumberjack. We were seated quickly but sat for almost 20 minutes & were never acknowledged or brought coffee or water, while everyone around us (that came after) were tended to. Let me mention that we were not of the same decent as everyother person in the building. I am a resident of the mountain and was treated like a tourist (a white one at that). I own a business as does my friend, we pay taxes, we by local and are respectful to EVERYONE regardless of theyre skin color. This place absolutely does not adhere to the same moral code as most people. After waiting with no assistance we got up and left. We will not be sending any business to them from our customers, family or friends. We ended up finding another place to go, we had a great breakfast, fantastic service and will definitely be returning to the second place. Also, I would like to mention, that we told the second restaurant how we were treated & the owner said that its not the first time theyve heard that. If you are looking to sit with no service and be completely ignored, then this is the place to go!

AVOID COMPLETELY! JUST leave, if service is this bad the food is likely worse. Freezing inside and uncomfortable. Waited and waited, no coffee, no water, and zero service. Just the two of us dining for a late breakfast. It was NOT exceptionally busy and yet couldnt even get a water or coffee for a table of two, 20 minutes and the Sahara desert would have been more inviting. Yet the waitress managed to seat, provide drinks, and take orders for two very large Hispanic families that arrived after us, meanwhile we still have nothing. I will let you figure out why we were NOT waited on. We left and so glad we did. Went to a sweet little breakfast spot with delicious food that had amazing service

My brother and I got breakfast at this little spot in Big Bear City and oh my gosh it was so much food. These days its hard to find places that will give you great portions especially in Big Bear. The only other place that goes large portions for Breakfast Food is Grizzly Manor Cafe in Big Bear Lake. My brother ordered the Chorizo Breakfast burrito and that was one giant burrito. He couldnt finish it! I ordered the Lumberjack Benedict which is basically Biscuits And Gravy with Ham, Cheese and Eggs. It was delicious. I barely finished it. Id recommend this place if you want a big fulfilling breakfast with good traditional coffee

Over rated, I ordered the chilaquiles red and didn t taste that good, I went skiing later and was having some really nasty burps and farts from the red chilaquiles, then I got home and had the runs My mom ordered the green chilaquiles and they are more spicier, they seem to taste better than the red sauce chilaquiles. Only reason why it has so many reviews and starts it s because it s the i my restaurant 30 mins away I think, I d rather just eat bad food than be hungry for another 30 mins Coffe was ok, passable simple and just like you d expect. Service, isn t the best either, but they try. My brother ordered the pancakes , they are regular pancakes and passable, just like you d except, wished they made them crispy but that s too much to ask in a place like this. Bathrooms are ok too, passable. Over all it s a plain vanilla if you know what I mean

I said Ive never had a bad meal here..Hmm!? He told waitress/owner and she took his New order and delivered and it was just as bad...he could not eat.I myself was having a hard time eating my Juevos con chorizo plate.1st off the beans were a light..white ish color and did not taste right. The rice no flavor and eggs n chorizo just ok.What happened to this place? Not an over the top place, but respectable. My omelet appeared to be made in one of those two sided pans that you flip over to bring the 2 sides together, but the hash browns were nice and crispy and the sourdough toast was above average. So I dont like to post bad reviews, everybody deserves a second chance. I honestly cant believe that a place that does so much business would succumb to a mistake like this. I stopped in this morning for a takeout breakfast for a friend. The restaurant was busy for post breakfast right before lunch but not super weekend busy. I waited for an expected amount of time and paid. The server was very amicable and did her job well. I took said breakfast, ham steak, over easy eggs, hash browns and one pancake home, held by the consumer/friend. Ill be transparent as heck right here.....my friend is a consummate complainer, all day, every day, so I wasnt surprised when he said it tasted like &$#@! I thought, here we go.....$#@&! He left it on the table and sat on my couch and sulked. After several minutes I gave in to curiosity and walked over, fork in hand, and tasted the home fries. Yikes, for once he actually had a valid complaint! (Write this in my diary!). It was horrible. Do you know what rancid oil/grease tastes like? Their grill lubricant or grease was rancid or old, it was straight on nasty. Ive cooked professionally for nearly 40 years .... I know when oil/grease has gone rogue. Have you ever had a bottle of oil you havent used for a long time? Maybe its sesame oil, walnut oil, etc., you just dont use it that often. One day you say, Ooooo, this recipe looks good, I have that oil and you add it to your adventure. When you taste it, oh man, you can taste that ooooo, these nuts are bad, got a bad pistachio, something mysky going on here taste? Thats rancid/old oils gone awry. Im very surprised that no one, I guess, complained, its an easy yuck moment. I will say that Ive eaten at this place once before and had no complaints. Im just surprised that they served food with this big, avoidable mistake. It wont make you sick, well, beyond maybe a bathroom quick sprint, but it just tastes nasty off. Sorry LJC, you messed up on such an everyday must necessity. Parking: The lot was full and I dont like to park between two cars so that others cant get into theirs. Just me....

Great little food place outside of the main food scene of Downtown Big Bear. Everyone in my party of 7 were extremely happy with their food.

I felt like I was sitting in my Grandmas kitchen eating her delicious cooking The standard breakfast foods were amazing but the Mexican dishes were also awesome and authentic! The portions are large so you WILL NOT leave hungry!

Most of the time they are super busy & under staffed. The staff are very courteous. Have had lunch and dinner, And the prices are fair. The atmosphere usually very crowded and cramped. Its nice and summer because you could sit outside and maybe in the winter time you can do the same but mostly its too cold.

Breakfasts are tasty, and big, I like the variety, and the quickness, it is close to everything, highly recommended! Prices are good, inside is small, service is good. Parking spaces are limited but if you go around 11 then you should be fine.
