Time to Take Action: Protecting San Bernardino Mountain Communities & Ecosystems 🌲🔥
The wildfires ravaging the San Bernardino Mountains are more than just natural disasters—they’re a warning of the environmental toll we’ve ignored for too long. Communities like Lake Arrowhead, Twin Peaks, Crestline, Blue Jay, Running Springs, and Big Bear are at risk. These areas, once cherished for their natural beauty, are now suffering due to corporate greed and neglect of environmental responsibility.
We call on corporations, leaders, and businesses who profit from these mountains, who market their beauty, and who encourage tourism and growth to step up and give back. 🌍
Let’s hold them accountable.
For too long, major corporations—hotel resorts, ski resorts, Starbucks, fast food chains, liquor stores, large retailers, and others—have reaped the benefits of these beautiful mountain communities without reinvesting in their protection. While revenue pours in, what is being given back to safeguard the wildlife, ecosystems, and people who have lived here for generations?
💡 We must create climate change campaigns, demand better protections for our land, and force these businesses to take responsibility for the pollution and human impact their operations are creating. Local authorities and businesses must do more to prevent the continued destruction of our forests, protect wildlife from extinction, and ensure a sustainable future for all.
We’ve seen enough destruction:
• Wildfires are more frequent and more devastating than ever before.
• Our natural landscapes are littered, and waste is piling up from increased foot traffic and tourism.
• Generational residents are being displaced, and wildlife is suffering, all while corporate profits soar.
It’s time to stop exploiting Mother Nature for profit and instead, start investing in her protection. These corporations must give back to the very communities they profit from and join efforts to combat climate change. The people of these mountain towns have already sacrificed too much—we can’t afford to lose more.
Let’s unite in demanding climate action, more environmental regulations, and proper funding for wildfire prevention and community support. The health of these mountain regions depends on our ability to hold those in power accountable.

Hands down one of the best bakeries on the mountain. It also helps they have a Starbucks inside. Everyone is nice and their deli has a variety of offerings. Expect to pay more than stater bros. That just means that it’s less crowded, so if you’re in a time pinch this is your best bet.
There’s enough parking that you will be able to access the front door from anywhere you park.

Best grocery store and gourmet market on the mountain. We love the employees (especially the meat counter) and helpful service/smiles. Incredible gourmet selection for being in such a small town. Locals know that this is where the BEST meat counter is for the best quality meat in the area. Even if locals may be shopping at other grocers like Staters or Goodwin’s for lower prices, they’re stopping by Jensen’s for the meat. It’s true.
Visiting the mountain? Come here for your groceries, especially if you’re hosting! Bring all your friends so they can grab special cookies (like Jules Destrooper almond thins), deli counter goods, chips, wine, and liquor. They have a great selection. Jensen’s rib eye and skewers are to die for if you’re grilling. Or grab a gigantic brisket for slow-cooking and impressing your guests. Try their marinated meat selection too for chicken and beef. Stop by Spade and Spatula in the same parking lot for their cocktails and amazing fries and sandwiches/burgers.
The international aisle, high-quality meat, deli, frozen section, and organic fruit and veggie offering are top tier. It’s where we stock up on smoothie ingredients and get the best bread (love the brioche), grains, tinned fish, dressings, wine, coffee (don’t sleep on Jensen’s organic fair trade coffee). We love the lemon and lime tarts from the bakery too. There’s also a Starbucks attached!
PRO TIP: The fried chicken is incredible. Find it by the deli section. A thousand times fresher, cleaner, crispier, more flavorful, and more delicious than Stater Brothers’ fried chicken.
P.S. It’s a shame the Grocery Outlet chain opened across the street and took over the beloved movie theater. Meanwhile Jensen’s has been family owned and operated since for over half a century (check out the about us page on their website for a bit of Blue Jay history). Please consider supporting this family owned, local grocer that has offered the best hand-picked gourmet selection for decades. Grocery Outlet posts pictures of their owners in their Facebook but it is 100% a chain that’s taking over Big Bear as well. They are driving out small businesses. Consider this when shopping.

Work ethics suck for many employees. Very slow and lazy most of time. Today, there was a shopping cart in the parking stall near the front. A young lazy male employee saw it was in my way. He was well within reach of pulling cart out of the slot and putting it in the cart line inside. He looked at me, the truck and the cart. I even said thank you then he quickly turned away and went inside as I told him, dont worry, Im happy to do YOUR JOB FOR YOU. He then picked up his pace. Many times in the deli, they ignore those waiting to be served. Not even a, Ill be right with you Theyre about as fast as molasses on Christmes eve. Id rather wait extra time with a few employees than to wait due to enough lazy ones.

Store is very pricey, which can be expected for living in the mountains. This review is more so for the Starbucks inside. Some of the baristas are great and others look like they are annoyed they have to take your order or deal with people. Its really a hit or miss on having a good experience there.

This grocery store is my shopping go to now! (indoor Starbucks included :) The food selection is a culinary playground everything from gourmet delights to everyday essentials. The indoor Starbucks is a caffeinated haven, turning grocery runs into coffee-fueled adventures. The fresh veggies? Theyre so crisp, they practically snap with flavor. Now, lets talk about the environment its like stepping into a foodie oasis where cleanliness meets convenience. And the customer service? Its not just helpful; its like having personal shopping cheerleaders. Five stars are a no-brainer for a grocery experience thats not just about stocking up but also savoring every aisle. Its more than a store; its a foodie fiesta!

Ive called multiple times to try and order my wedding cake. The first call I was on hold for 15 minutes after being transferred to the bakery. I called back and inquired about ordering a wedding cake, the employee told me that she couldnt answer any of my questions and that I had to speak with the bakery manager. I called the next day and asked to speak with the bakery manager, she was unavailable as I was told by another employee. I called back a little while later the same day, I was told the bakery manager was on lunch. I spoke with a male employee during that phone call who was kind and thoughtful enough to take down my phone number. I never received a call back so I called the next day and asked to speak with the bakery manager, the employee told me that she was in her office. I told the employee that I have called multiple times to try and order a wedding cake and keep being told that the manager is the only person I can order with and I can never get a hold of this person. I told her if she cant take my phone call then Ill just find another place. The employee told me okay, thanks. The lack of people skills and zero desire for business was shocking. I was really looking forward to have my wedding cake made by Jensens.

Very clean and organized but rude workers. No Hi welcome. Stared at me and nothing. Anyway my experience was not a pleasant one. On 3/22/22 after 5pm: I stopped by Jensen in Blue Jay store# 0000 on my way home from work and I was scolded by one of the cashier #0025 working on register #002 her name Ms Marina O. I was walking towards her few stuff in my hands to purchase. She clearly saw me approaching her but she chooses to turned her head away. I asked are you open? I was ignored. I walked over to the next cashier. As I was standing there waiting my turn only then Ms Marina then choose to turn and asked, are you ready? In my head I thought, Yes!! what do you think? ding ding. I nicely stated, I had asked a few mins ago if you were open and you did not answer. So how is your day? She responded aggressively and disrespectful, If the light is on then its open bla bla bla. Yes, I know that but you turned away when I approach so it was more rhetorical. Of course I did not say that out loud. I answer its okay. I had just finish a hectic shift as a nurse so I just smile. Madam I am a proud, smart, beautiful inside out black island girl. Nothing can change how I feel about me. No nonsense. So MS Philippina keep your ignorance to yourself because to me thats is lack of knowledge. Thats all.

Jensens of Blue Jay isnt just a small store like in Running Springs, its a bigger one like Stater Bros. with a side of Starbucks Coffee to enjoy. You can even find decorations, Peets Coffee and more, plus BBQ every weekend from Memorial weekend to early Fall. If you can find its just around the corner near the burger joint. I recommend going there if you cant get to Stater Bros or something.

Been going to Jensens for 5 years now. Comforting that the staff is usually the same, always a recognizable face. They have a great selection of unique products, special teas, the best honey on the mountain I believe ( manuka and the white gold honey, so good! ) , especially great salmon, fresh orange juice, awesome flowers, the best candles ( those caspari candles that burn slow and come in many hued rainbow colors ) . The perfect place to find unique energy drinks and key health products. Not a superfood health store but good enough! Love coming here and love the staff. Always a good shopping here!

Im done with the deli. Especially after tonight. I went to look at the meat counter (boars head stuff) when no one was in line. I was looking at the options an older man Ive had issues with before asked if Id been helped. I said no I was just looking at my selections. He told me no one was helping me there and Id gave to walk back to the order here sign. The attitude blew me away. I spend about 200$ twice a week here, and the deli is just not up to my basic customer service levels. Many times Ive come in looking for fried chicken at 515 or 530, and am often told its gone and no more is being made. I have no clue when to expect if they will have sushi. Goodwins in crestline has a superb delicatessen, and staters has a considerably more constant togo selection. (Including a staffed sushi station.) Ive been trying to stay at jensens but tonight just rubbed me to worst way. No one else was there, it was clear I was seeing what was available, it was clear I was being talked down too. Im out. No more.

Expensive but appropriate for the area demographic. Quality meats and great fresh burritos in their Deli and other good stuff there.
