Horrible customer service by Teresa went to lunch today supposedly she is a manager!! Very rude we came in she saw us and ignored us we were seated by a male server and she was attending other tables never came to our table I asked her is she could take our order she didn t approach us just ignored us we had to wait to see when the male server came out to take our order. We sincerely felt discriminated against!! Well Teresa just to let you know we work for a big company and will let our coworkers know how we were treated by you. Thank you for the male server that helped us I didn t get his name but we left at 12:30 hopefully the owner of this establishment reads this and thanks him for his kindness and great customer service!!!

Super slow. Took over an hour to get our appetizers. They had no breakdown of food for allergies or dietary needs. Ordered the salad asking for no cheese and dressing on the side. 75 minutes later, I got the regular salad and had to pick the cheese off. Which had been soaked in dressing. Several other parts of our order were messed up

A nicely decorated and more upscale restaurant that has great vibes. Come here for the fun cocktails! Theres a decent amount to choose from, from their house curated ones to the classics. Some of them come out in really fun cups too. The food is pretty mid but the portions are huge. Food: 5/10 Drinks: 8/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 7/10 Value: 6/10

While the atmosphere at Julep is pleasant and the server was friendly, the food left much to be desired. We ordered the mac and cheese, which was recommended, but it arrived with unmelted cheese and tasted like it had been frozen. The flat iron steak, requested medium well, was served medium. Although this was acceptable, the meat s quality did not justify the price. The mashed potatoes seemed like it came from a powdered mix. Interestingly, when I asked about the beef stroganoff, the server advised against it, mentioning it often gets returned. Unfortunately, I would add the mac and cheese and steak to that list. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Theres in my party tried the chicken and waffles, the chicken sandwich, and the biscuits and gravy. They were very satisfied with their meal. I will go back and try something else on the menu. Parking: This is in a shopping center so parking is shared with all the shops.

Nice atmosphere. Staff is nice but they do not come around to refill water. The Sunday brunch menu had mostly fried items. I asked for the breakfast skillet and for it to use minimal oil. It arrived with lots of oil in puddles at the bottom. Then they shared that the potatoes are deep fried. Vegetables were saturated in oil. Disappointed. Not coming back. No quality cooking they just quick fry and oil all they can potatoes, veggies saturated .all this unhealthy food put together and topped it with the egg and call it a skillet. This was not a meal cooked in a skillet at all. Quality is just terrible. No spices were used. Completely bland.

I considered dining here until I saw multiple videos from friends about this establishment and have taken back this consideration. The server was so incompetent and rude, what he DID was completely unacceptable. Harassing them, going into ANOTHER establishment, because boo-hoo he didn t get a tip for his HORRIBLE service. And the manager? Oh girl it was one ear and out the other with her. Saying you re sorry on the behalf of your employee and then you ll talk to them we all know you won t. While rolling your eyes every 10 seconds, even putting your hand up to shush them? They were trying to get their point across to you. The employee who was inappropriate and have the audacity to keep arguing, should be the one to apologize, not just waltz away as if he did nothing wrong. I hope no one has to experience this horrible behavior from this server OR manager.

Review №30

I do not recommend a place where my friends got harassed by an employee. They didnt like the service, and they didnt want to tip them. However, the employee felt entitled and followed my friends to a DIFFERENT place and started to yell at them about not tipping. This behavior is concerning and unacceptable. Give my friends a full refund. Service wasnt good, and on top of that, you add harassment at whole foods. Come on. Compensate for the humiliation they experienced, many witnesses and footage at the store. The least you guys could do is give them a full refund on their order.

The quality of the food does not match the price point. We had the jalapeno artichoke cheese dip, Bavarian pretzel, Southwest burger, and beef stroganoff. The pretzel itself was the only thing in the meal that was good, but all other dips and meals were mediocre at best. Flavors were bland and really disappointing. Im not one to complain at a restaurant, but today I am wishing that I did.

Came for my birthday lunch and was told to come as a walk in over the phone. We were seated quickly which was exciting as my birthday landed on Mothers Day this year. I was so grateful we could walk in on such a busy holiday! However we were sat and waited about half an hour to have our beverage orders be taken. Our first thought was understandable! Its Mothers Day and busy so we were just happy to be there! 45 minutes later we had finished our drinks and no one had checked on us or asked if we wanted more drinks. Finally, we were able to put in an appetizer order after an hour of being seated. When we asked if we could order our entree at the same time, we were denied ordering at all. We asked to order on the brunch menu 40 minutes before it ended so we had to wait almost another hour for the dinner menu. When we were finally able to order our entrees it was incredibly bland and far over priced. When we went to pay, no one collected our bill because the staff were busy talking among each other we had to interrupt and ask to pay. When we spoke to the manager about the disappointing experience, she said we wish you wouldve told us before you paid. Well if their employees were paying attention and not just hanging out talking, we would have been able to notify someone however we were entirely dismissed my the staff. I understand how lucky we were to get a table for my birthday on Mothers Day however, I would have rather saved 3 hours and been told honestly they did not have the staff to serve us and gone somewhere else. There were no apologies offered by staff or manager. It felt extremely unprofessional and was a very disappointing way to spend my birthday. The only redeeming qualities of this place was the decor as it was a large restaurant and the ambiance was cute. I was impressed by the espresso martini until realizing the entire drink came out of basically a soda dispenser.

We went on a random Thursday night. A work friend had mentioned we might like this place. They were spot on. My husband and I enjoyed a couple drinks each. Then split some of their appetizers and small plates. We chose to sit at the bar, it give a better view for people watching. The Mint Julep was the best Ive had since visiting New Orleans and the signature Boujee Violet was amazing, if you like lavender drinks. My husband had the Corpse Reviver No. 2 and the Lespresso Martini, both of which he gave high praise. We split the Kale Ceasar salad, mac & cheese, a Bavarian Pretzel and the Rock Shrimp Beignets. (And still took food home) Portion sizes are good, price range is a little high (but what isnt these days?) but not outrageous. Even though they were busy, the bartenders gave their full attention when assisting patrons. They are friendly, knowledgeable and well trained when it comes to proper customer service. Parking: If youve been to The Village at La Floresta, youre probably already familiar with the parking situation. While there is ample parking, there is a little walk to get to the restaurants location. But worth it. Kid-friendliness: Not really a good place to take young children. Although they do have space and some food items that can work. Likely best for families with older kids or to go around lunch time.

Just had to park my stroller by the door which isnt a huge deal. Good wise evening had been pretty spot on! Enjoyed their blackened salmon with sauteed spinach and baby potatoes, salmon came out super soft and perfect. Also their ahi tuna stack was pretty spectacular. Drinks wise, my girlfriend and I enjoyed the Black Dahlia! Well be back to try more things as they have an expansive menu! Parking: Parking is hot or miss depending on when you arrive to the location since its shared with other businesses like whole foods. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly period with their kids menu.

Julep is a beautiful place to stop after lunch and before dinner. My visit was between 3;45 and 5 pm. I almost had the patio to myself. It is a perfect place to finish up phone calls. My server Zach recommended adding bacon to their jalapeno grill cheese. Omg it was heaven. Garlic fries were cooked perfectly. It was a bit chilly, so I ordered a spiced cinnamon hot tea. Zach brought me some cinnamon simple sugar to zoosh it up.

I was in the area today and randomly stopped by for breakfast but I wish I hadnt. It was quite simply one of the worst dining experiences Ive had in quite a while. Even though there was plenty of available staff to seat us, the servers were too busy socializing to actually do their job - I had to disrupt their conversation by walking up to them to ask for a table. We ordered 2 very basic dishes (eggs benedict and strawberry crepes) and both were barely palatable - the benedict, served over hash, was so salty that I had to choke it down and the crepes disgustingly sweet. Its amazing that its possible to mess up even the most classic breakfast dishes, but the less discerning might find the decor impressive.

Blatant ignorance to what vegan is, despite having a clear vegan section on their menu. We stopped by to check out the vegan options. Place is very nice but it s reservation only so we ordered takeout. We got the vegan Cajun pasta, vegan radicchio salad, and the vegan corn fritters. When we got our food, our salad had blue cheese on it so we had to go back and have it remade. In the meantime, one of the employees offered us a free dessert, lemon meringue cheesecake. We asked them if it was vegan and she said yes, so we accepted it. Vegan Cajun pasta: 2/5. Mediocre pasta with sauce. Pasta was broken into 1-2 inch pieces. Sauce was bland and gritty. Radicchio salad 2/5. The radicchio was clumsily huge. The dressing didn t do much for it. Vegan corn fritters 5/5. Super tasty and moist. Good balance of salty and sweet. (Not vegan) Lemon meringue cheesecake 1/5: my sister tried this and she told me right away it wasn t vegan. This annoyed me because the employee told us it was. Would have rather received something that I could eat. Overall, vegan options seemed mediocre. From what I could tell, the vegan options are just a version on what s already on their menu with a bunch of stuff removed. Not worth it. Also, I m appalled that the employees are not trained to know what vegan is, despite having a vegan menu section. Would not return or recommend to friend if this is how vegan menu options are handled here.

I would give negative star if I could, however the food deserves 5 star but the general managers attitude deserves negative stars. We recently went here and while the food was excellent, unfortunately, the general managers attitude was terrible. Despite having made a reservation several weeks in advance for indoor seating, my party was brought to be seated on the patio without any explanation. When we asked the general manager about this, she was unhelpful and dismissive, telling us that if we could read their website complains, we would know that they do not serve lunch parties and there was no room for us inside. This Im the boss and I make the call attitude was really terrible which made us feel disrespected and discriminated. Furthermore, when we asked for the outdoor fire to be turned on, the general manager initially told us the fire is not for our area, then she tried to turn in on but one of them was out of propane. We were then told to wait 20 mins to get a refill, but a refill for the propane tank wasnt brought over until 45 minutes later with her making a flippant comment about how difficult it was to find propane these days. This lack of professionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction was disappointing. I believe that the general managers attitude towards us was unacceptable, and I hope that the top management should take steps to ensure that this kind of behavior does not occur in the future. I suggest that the staff undergo training in customer service to improve the way they treat customers. Overall, while the food was delicious, the poor attitude of the general manager named Lucy or Julia (whatever) left a negative impression. As a result, I cannot recommend this place to any of my peers and will be looking for a different restaurant for my next meal out.

Well, this restaurant looks fantastic and the food is ok. However, the service is horrible!!!! We have a large party and after several conversations to make indoor dining but may be separated table decision. When we finally arrived there, we were seated outdoor. Guess what, the GM just said she cant guarantee the indoor seated and questioned us when we booked it, no one told us? And told us there are the other 6 branches, we should book the other branch. Then why dont you train your employee to say you dont accept over 10 people reservation!!! Dont recommend this restaurant to any large party, especially with kids!

My second time to Julep. The first experience was moderate. Service was not very attentive and the hostess was not very kind. The restaurant had over 80% of the tables open and the hostess said she would see what see could do to get us a table. I was perplexed as you would think they would like to accommodate people. The experience was fair. Today my girlfriend Googled the restaurant and I stated it s a marginal breakfast at best. We still went because she wanted to try it as their pictures looked good. In any event, it was not a good experience. My girlfriend s food was cold, the waiter forgot my sausage and the service was lackluster at best. There is absolutely no management visible. We were commenting on how several tables stayed dirty during our entire meal and that no one took any initiative. We have been to some outstanding breakfast places like The Ivy, The Catch, The San Diego Breakfast Co and Perch. Unfortunately, Julep is on a much lower level. For the location and decor, you would think a better job could be done. I usually do not leave poor reviews but I am sure ownership has at least $750,000 invested in the restaurant. Maybe someone needs to lead the crew

Atmosphere is the only thing this place has going for it. The server seemed like their head was up the clouds and the food was absolutely horrible. My father ordered biscuits and gravy and it was like paste.i ordered eggs and they tasted like they had been reheated from earlier in the day. I highly advise avoiding this restaurant untill they can get their act together .

I came here with a party of 8 plus 2 kids. We made the reservation ahead of time over the phone and they accepted the reservation knowing how big our party was. We got to the restaurant & they made us wait.. then the manager calls us up to let us know that WE canceled our reservation. We had only made one call to reserve and thats it. Manager speaking to us was extremely rude & kept trying to place the blame on us for supposedly canceling our reservation. Anyway, manager mentions that even though our party is too big hell make the accommodation just once. We waited again & then one of the hosts asks us again how big our party was & how many high chairs are needed. She walks away & the manager comes back saying that us adding two high chairs made it an innegociable amount of people to accommodate for. He was all up in our faces, waving his hands no in our faces & was extremely rude. All they had to say from the beginning was no they cant accommodate for our large party, but the fact that this manager went above & beyond to try to place the blame on us was completely unacceptable. Horrible management & will def not be coming back.

Management was disorganized and lost our reservation accusing us of having cancelled it on our end. They then turned us away for our party size of 8 adults and 2 small children, which was the entire reason why we called and reserved a spot for dinner. Management was rude, accusatory, unhelpful and incredibly unprofessional throughout the exchange as to how this could have happened and if there was any possible solutions. We would have understood if we had been told that the reservation was canceled due to our party size (of 10) or that they lost it rather than accusing us of being at fault and canceling it ourselves and given the tactless attitude of the manager on duty. We left hungry, disappointed, frustrated and uneager to return.

I have to say this was the best dining experience Ive had in a while. The food was amazing, and the service was even better! Our server, Brent, was so attentive and friendly. He was able to make great recommendations for our group, including the short ribs and sea bass special off menu. I also want to give a shout-out to Lucy, the Bar Manager. She made us feel like family by suggesting some of her favorite drinks for our group. FYI order the espresso martini... you will love it!

Our waitress recommended a spiced old fashioned and it was delicious. The short ribs were ok, just not as tender as expected. I loved the beef ribs as they made it easy on the BBQ source. Meat fell off the bone... Yummy! Will go back to try other dishes

A friend was visiting out of town and this place actually had a vegan page in their menu which made my guest really happy and brought us in. We started with some Bloody Mary s. They have house mad mix and have a decent spice level. The onion ring was a great touch and eaten immediately. *drool* out of town guest (vegan) got the fried chicken sandwich. He said it was good but presentation was lacking but our server did give us fair warning it was good but needs work on display. I appreciate the honesty. My girlfriend got salad (Julep Cobb) and soup (smoked bacon corn chowder) and had trouble finishing both. She said both were hearty, delicious and would definitely be ordered again. I got the BBQ short rib sandwich which with grilled jalapeño. It wasn t spicy but it was a delightful balance of flavor and texture. The onion ring was delicious. Fries had herbs and were tasty as well. Filling Decor and styling of the bar definitely had a vibe, I was surprised it was in Brea, which can be more chain oriented in its food offerings. A pleasant surprise to find atmosphere, good food and service. Will definitely bring people back.

The ambiance and setting is super cute. My in laws brought the husband and i for our anniversary. Were both vegan and my in laws are not so here we thought it would be nice to eat somewhere they offer vegan options. Our waitress came by to take our orders. We ordered two vegan meals and two non vegan. My husband ordered a vegan chicken& waffles with double waffles and no chicken... She got confused and thought he said no waffles, double chicken. We corrected her, but when getting our food, all the meals we ordered were obviously not vegan. His waffles were topped with bacon and my plate had real eggs and sausage. So we waited for the mix up to be corrected. And when she brought our vegan (correct) orders out, she joked, looks the same to me, haha -which i thought was very insensitive... yeah looks the same, but you dont know if i have an allergy and couldve gotten horribly sick....but whatever. Food was decent. I originally wanted to order dessert, but the waitress left a bad taste in my mouth. She hardly checked in on us and when she did, it just felt awkward. So we just wanted to pay and get out of there. We were disappointed with the service... But overall the food was decent, the ambiance was nice. Just a word of advice, if you have food allergies or order vegan... For the live of God, confirm it a good five times before your waitress/waiter puts the order in.

Food overall was really good. Staff was also friendly and ambiance was good too. The strange thing about our meal was that they only gave us forks as utensils and no knives or spoons. We also ordered a lot of dishes to share, but no serving utensils were offered either? To top it off, we initially orders drinks but we weren t given any water. Someone at our table ordered a bottle of sparkling water, but what about the other 7 people who were there? A few of us asked for water and it only came at the very end of a 2 hour meal. Again, the staff was friendly and generally helpful, but I just thought this was a bit strange.

It s Sunday lunch time, my wife and I thought we d try this place. Not until we were seated that their breakfast on Sundays is until 3 p.m. So we had to order from the appetizer and breakfast menu. My wife ordered the chicken wings and shrimp cocktails. For main course she ordered the crepes. I ordered the Julep Benedict s. We are rating this place with two stars only. To start, my wife s shrimp cocktail are not fresh and very dirty. As you can see in the photo, they only deveined them prior to serving. Plus two of the shrimps had bruises. These are signs that shrimps have been defrosted and then refrozen again. While the chicken wings, two-three pieces are still raw from the inside. Now on the upside, the place is clean and servers are very helpful. Bits a very nice place. However this could use a lot of improvement on their food quality.

Great place to take out some friends or as a couple! The ambiance is wonderful, dark and calm. Had their appetizers and it was delicious. The dinner was sooo good! Had their salmon plates and also had fish and chips, it was top notch. Dessert hit the spot with the fried ice cream! Will come back soon

I loved the decor inside of Julep. The decor is modern and elegant. We got a few appetizers and drinks. The bavarian pretzel was really solid with mustard and cheese dipping sauce. We also tried the corn fritters which were served with a maple whiskey sauce. To me, this was more of a dessert very sweet but incredibly delicious. The cocktails were pretty solid. The disappointment for me was that the food and drink menu are both very basic, not a lot of creativity in the dishes or the cocktails. But overall, definitely a great addition to the Brea food scene. Parking: Plenty of parking.

Had an excellent date night at this new restaurant. We sat at the bar. Vibe is nice and bar had quite a few seats. They have a few TVs with sports on. All the servers, bartenders, and other staff were all very friendly. Cocktails: Spiced Old Fashioned: Im not a big old fashioned guy but really enjoyed this one. Ended up getting two. Like the cinnamon note. Ken-tiki: This one was our favorite. Fruity rum drink, delicious. Black Dahlia: Mezcal drink - if you like mezcal its worth trying. Wife found it too smoky, I liked it. Its very smoky. App: corn fritters - great app. Salty and sweet crunchy fritters. Dip is bourbon syrup but not too sweet and you get the bourbon flavor without it being too overpowering. Entrees: I got the Coca-cola braised ribs. Zero notes, super tender and peeled off the bone with a fork. These are on the sweeter side which I loved. Comes with fries and coleslaw. The slaw has a nice little bite of jalapeno. Burger: Wife got the burger medium, enjoyed it. Side of mac and cheese: ooey gooey gruyere goodness. Dessert: we tried the Strawberry Cobbler a la mode - so so good. gooey sweet strawberry filling, buttery salty crumble, and creamy cool vanilla ice cream on top. Whats not to love? Overall we had a great time and meal at Julep and will definitely be stopping by again. Looking forward to trying brunch! Vegetarian options: They have a whole section on the menu for this. Parking: Lots of parking in the big strip mall parking lot.
