Popping Yolk Cafe welcomes brunch lovers and breakfast enthusiasts from SoCal and beyond! We are open daily from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. and currently offer indoor & outdoor dining, takeout, and delivery. Thank you for supporting our small business at this time!
Forget Sunday brunch, what about Friday brunch?! My schedule is all over the place, and I randomly had the day off. Mine as well make the most of it by starting off with a big meal!
Parking: This spot is located in a busy plaza. Finding parking can be a bit difficult; especially on the weekends. Free parking lot.
Ambiance/Environment: They have a medium sized space with indoor and outdoor seating. Great for groups of all sizes. Very clean and modern inside. Once you walk in, overlook the menu, order at the register, and seat yourself. The server will bring out your orders.
Service: Shout out to May! The sweetest and most courteous worker! She was taking orders at the register, delivering orders to tables, and checking on each table afterwards.
Food & drinks:
1) Avocado Benedict - poached egg, avocado, ham, English muffin, butter, & hollandaise sauce served with garden spring and country fried potatoes. The poached egg was satisfying to pop. The avocado and salad were fresh. There was also a generous amount of potatoes! Despite the ham being a bit greasy, I really enjoyed this dish!
2) Popping Yolk Burger - Angus beef, sunny side up egg, grilled mushroom, cheddar, honey mustard sauce, also served with garden spring and country fried potatoes. The salad was also fresh and generous amount of potatoes. The beef was cooked well, juicy, and lots of flavor!
3) Ube Pancakes - This is one of their new menu items! The Ube flavor came through! It was topped with coconut flakes and drizzled with Ube sauce. Sooo delicious!
4) Ube Coffee - I ordered this hot because I wanted a latte art hehe. The latte art was so cute. The Ube flavor was light while the coffee flavor was strong.
5) Egg Coffee - This comes iced only. The egg foam was thiccckkk. I personally thought it wasn’t overly sweet. Perfect amount of sweetness.
Pricing: Yes, prices are high. But what brunch spot doesn’t have high prices nowadays? Portions were big enough to share or save for later. I’d say it’s worth it!

As a Ube Pancake & Egg lover, @poppingyolkcafe got all I need! The potatos on the side is crunchy and flavorful. Service is friendly and they refilled our water multiple times and check in with us. It’s a cute brunch spot that has outdoor and indoor sitting, the outdoor has shades which is nice.
👉🏼We ordered
- Ube pancake ( recommend - little mochi texture)
- Crab cake benedict
- Nashville hot chicken benedict ( recommend! )

Orders were taken at the counter and brought to your table. I thought prices were a bit high, and might be a one time visit for me. But upon seeing the amount and tasting of the food, I knew I would be back to try more items on the menu. The Florentine Benedict was truly delicious with perfectly poached eggs. The potatoes had just the right crunch and seasonings. The Ube French Toast was worth every penny and more. The staff was friendly though a bit reserved. Overall, this is a great new place for Sunday or any day brunch.

Egg coffee is delicious. A little too sweet but still delicious.
Eggs Benedict’s : the crab cake eggs bennies were better than the florentine. They really don’t need the extra muffin under the crab cake.
Would definitely come back for the crab cake bennies alone.
French toast was not worth it. Would’ve been better if it wasn’t deep fried. All it tastes like is grease.
Mozzarella sticks have the best cheese pull and are yum.

Giving one star because for the price this place left me expecting much more.
The seasoned potatoes were the best thing I must say… my kids ordered the half order of French toast and when I tell you the it was SATURATED in grease I mean drenched! When we cut the French toast up the bread was see through.
My oldest son said it was very greasy and could feel the grease with every bite..
my baby loves French toast and he only ate less than one of the 3 slices..the berries were mushy and old.. NOT FRESH
You can tell the quality is not here
The omelette my mom ordered was good except all the 3 slices of avocado they charge $3.00 for were brown n rotten looking…
Again the quality for the food provided is not here.. seems they care more to save money and serve old mushy fruits and veggies to customers.
I was surprised because it got some Asian fusion vibes which I love and usually they are VERY HEALTHY. So idk why they would serve the customers this??
Very disappointed and I don’t recommend you coming here u less you want to order a salad or maybe the breakfast sandwich..and the seasoned potatoes. That’s it. HONESTLY
THEY NEED TO GET TIPS FROM LIKE Egg tuck because this is not it. Now I see why it was kind of empty.. 😔🥴

Lovely calm café vibes that are perfect for brunching. Big portions of tasty food that work for sharing and sampling several different specialties. Definitely try the Egg Coffee -- it's rich, creamy, and sweet due to the condensed milk and frothy egg cream top. Parking is a bit difficult with In N Out right there, so check the signs before you park to make sure you're not blocking other businesses in the center. And Pop that Yolk!!

Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this place to most people. Sone of the reasons are personal preference, but some are universal preferences.
Personal Reasons: they served me water that tasted like lemons, and I am not big on lemon water. They also did not have lids for my child’s cup. They served me a giant gross arugula salad on my classic breakfast plate, which is pointless.
Main Reasons: food was bland. For the price, I expected some flavors. We ordered lattes, a classic breakfast, croissant sandwich, and strawberry pancakes. Lattes were not good (sour taste), classic breakfast was unoriginal and basic, croissant sandwich had a terrible croissant and they accidentally had pieces of corn in it, and the pancakes were flat and flavorless. (And they had a hair in them). Overall, these are complaints because the price was indicative of an upscale breakfast. We could have saved money going to the better tasting ihop across the street.
Service: staff was polite, but did not engage in conversation or stand out in any way.
Overall: I think there is a lack of attention to detail, which could really epevate this place and justify the prices.

I went at 10 am this morning to try their breakfast. What I like about it is that when you order the meal the portions are big and they have great customer service. That being said, when my water was about to run out they fill up my water right away. I also like their hot chocolate that is something that you should order.

Won't be back. Husbands food was brought out first and it took so long to bring out my food he was done with his. When my food finally got to the table it was made incorrectly. I ordered my omelette to be a scramble since I think omelettes are gross. Couldn't send it back since there is zero service. We just got up and left and I went without breakfast.

The napkins are cheap and terrible and the employee messed up our order. The food was pretty good though. The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich is good and the home fries on the side are great! Price is a little high though.

Ube French toast is insane 😭😭😭

You can tell they invested well in the atmosphere and the aesthetics but the food definitely lacks. Every plate is overwhelming with too many ingredients in one entree. Their griddle items have too many sweet factors. For example, classic Belgium waffle has fruit, chocolate, whip cream and ice cream. You’ll walk out feeling 10 pounds heavier. The drip coffee is not craft, tastes like burnt diner coffee (although the americano is OK)
Would not return or recommend to anyone.

I don't usually write a review if I don't like something but this restaurant was a disappointment to myself and the person I went with.
I was looking forward to a new restaurant to try but the prices and the omelette I had were not good.
I cannot recommend

This was our first visit. We were between breakfast and lunch. Menu looked interesting. I ordered in an egg benedict. Several to choose from. I ordered the florentine/mushroom. You place your order at the counter. I specifically said that I didn't want a runny Poached egg. I asked for "medium." Unfortunately, the entire poached egg was runny! I guess the cook in back will make it only one way. The potatoes were good. Nice and crispy. But I said "no potatoes" and I got them anyway. My husband had a small order of waffles with ice cream, whipped cream and fruit. Nice presentation, but the waffles were soggy. It was not a great experience overall. Probably won't return.

Food was only average. Both mine and my wife's Benedict were not hot. Their country potatoes are just french fries. You could tell they were deep fried. There are too many other breakfast places better than this. Also, it cost over $50 for two.

It was OK. Not the best brunch we've had in Brea, also far from the worst. I won't get the lychee sangria again -- it's not really sangria, just a glass of white wine with a lychee in the bottom of the glass & an orange slice garnish -- but there are definitely some other things we want to try. For what we got, prices were a little high but not crazy. The staff was great, very welcoming & attentive. Honestly the worst part of our experience was being harassed (I use the word loosely, but it's the only word that really describes it) by an In-N-Out employee about needing to move our car & his attitude & rolled eyes when my husband said we'd move when we were done eating (which we almost were). We were parked in a clearly marked parking spot right outside the Cafe. If that's In-N-Out's drive through, it shouldn't be parking spaces. Would definitely recommend the owner of Popping Yolk talk to the management team of In-N-Out and/or of the center to get that resolved.

Check out Brea’s new popping brunch spot! I heard so many great things about Popping Yolk Café so I was super excited to know when they were going to open one up in Orange County. It’s a casual brunch spot and they don’t skimp out on the portions and quality. You order at the counter, get a number and find a table. You honestly can’t go wrong with their benedicts or French toasts but I’ve also heard that their omelets are great as well. I came in on a Friday around noon and the place was about 85% full. I can definitely imagine how crowded it is during a weekend, so plan accordingly!

Norwegian Benedict – The classic smoked salmon benedict! Eggs were cooked perfectly so I could do the oh so satisfying egg yolk pop. I loved how generous they were with the smoked salmon. I get so sad when places put so little yet charge so much for it.
Crab Cakes Benedict – This was such a unique benedict that it actually caught my eye first and I knew I had to try it out. I wasn’t a big fan of the coleslaw portion but that is just my personal preference. I loved everything else about this benedict though.
Apple Cinnamon French Toast – it was so heavenly like an apple pie on French toast. It really was such a decadent treat with the whipped cream on the side

Very clean, small place with good quality food. The sausage and egg sandwich was served with plenty country potatoes and an arugula salad. Sandwich was quite big with scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon, and sausage. The toffee crunch French toast was delicious! Half size was perfect for one person.

Across the street from the Brea Mall - this place serves delicious benedicts. So if you're looking for an assortment of quality benedicts to satisfy your appetite this is the place to go in Brea. I had the Florentine Benedict and it hit the spot on my Saturday brunch craving. I can't wait to come back to this place.☺️ Also, the parking lot can get full on the weekends so you may want to olo.😉

I really thought, with the name, it'd be a restaurant that served eggs cooked all kindsa ways.. it was not that. The food was really good. The menu was very impressive. At 10am, you could get a hawaiian burger, or crepes or whatever; I think whatever you order, you're getting salad too. I had no idea the portions would be so huge! But the prices match the portions, so if you're ready to drop at least $18 on 1 meal, then this place is for you. *also, they serve a few beer/champagne/ wine drinks, which is a plus, but again, get out that wallet. Nice friendly staff. Not a lot of sitting room.

Daughter has an aversion to spice. They brought an omelette with cracked pepper on it instead of plain. I asked nicely if they could remake it. Sure! They flipped it upside down and brought the same one back to me. Will never eat here again.

I ordered the California omelette. The presentation was nice but It was very bland and tasted vaguely of fish. The mushrooms/spinach were soggy and seemed boiled and were just tossed between the eggs rather than being cooked with the omelette. The potatoes were pretty good though.
My wife ordered the Santa Barbara burger which was also very bland. We left a good portion uneaten and overall were pretty disappointed for $50 (2 entrees and coffee) We Would have preferred Denny’s or IHOP for half the price or Toast for something tastier.

Went to the Brea location and will not go back. We ordered French deep fried French toast which upset my stomach my daughter order an omelette that took way too long to come out. I had finished eating. The same situation occurred to the table that was sitting next to us. I asked for a manager and the staff said there wasn’t one. Cute place but will not go back.

Good spot for brunch, with some unique asian fusion dishes ex. Kimchi spam omelette, ube french toast.
Tried their spicy chicken eggs benedict sandwich, and smoked salmon omelette. Chicken sandwich was delicious, and the country side potatoes that came with it were great. Would not recommend the smoked salmon though, it was a bit fishy.
For drinks, highly recommend their Vietnamese egg coffee!
Weekend brunch can get busy, but line seems to move pretty quickly. Plenty of parking in lot, and both indoor & outdoor seating available for dining!

Not exactly the cozy restaurant decor that I prefer, but the food far out-weighed that! My husband got an omelet, and I got the Norwegian Benedict. Both were excellent. Was so glad to find that they made a proper hollandaise, the best I've had in a long time, next to my own home-made. The potatoes, cafe mocha, and service were all first-rate too!

I had the avocado Benedict and husband had the smoked salmon omelette. Both were very tasty and came out quickly and hot. I had fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee, both were good. It wasn't crowded and music was at a decent volume. We will come back.
