Bruno's is my favorite Italian restaurant. They offer a variety of choices on their menu. My favorite is the penne and pesto, delicious! I always order a side of meatballs and Marinara sauce to complement my meal. They have specials and happy hour throughout the week, in addition to a nice wine selection. The service is top of line, and the atmosphere is lively. 👌

I love this place. Been coming for years. My wife and I found it by accident. Just passing by and the manager says, "looking for a good place to eat?" Yeah, we've never been here. He says give us a try. Tell you what, if you don't like it, I'll pay for your meal. I mean, really? Who passes that up? Been coming ever since. That was 10 years ago. Everything I've ever had is delicious. It's my family's go to when we want to splurge. Fine ding experience without the fine dining charge. I was just there, dinner for 4. We had the Cioppino, Lasagna, salmon, fettuccine alfredo (must have), calamari, my wife had 2 drinks. After tip the meal was $170. Your server at a restaurant can sometimes make or break an experience. I've never had a bad one. Rachael was fantastic. Thank you, Brunos. We'll be back.

Three stars on the food only because of an accidental cross-contamination.

The food was served beautifully. The drink I ordered was a display of artistry from the bar. The plated presentations were mini masterpieces to behold. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. The salmon was juicy and tasty.

However, something in the red sauce caused my lips to burn and turned my stomach. By 2 am, the vegetables I had eaten had raced through my gut and were gone. That is a sign of a bad allergen and anaphylaxis missed by minutes. I keep antihistamines and epinephrine on me for just such an emergency.

I don't blame the chef or kitchen staff for it because it is my risk to even come to a place that serves dishes with shrimp, crab, clams, scallops, mussels and other things that should or do have a shell. Even with perfect culinary skills, cross contamination can happen and it's not the kitchen's fault, nor the server's.

The staff did their best to try to rectify things, but my stomach was too far gone with that single burning lips event. Thankfully, no hives have appeared. The staff tried, really they did, to fix things, but there was nothing they could do to fix it. Even the tiramisu peace offering didn't work. I said no to desert and I meant it. I would say it was an insult, but I know they were doing their best to make my dining experience a good one.

The staff were smiles the entire evening. The manager showed appropriate levels of concern, and I appreciate that.

Would I return to Bruno's? Maybe. Not any time soon.

The food is always delicious! The lasagne is the best I’ve ever had and very different from the usual. It has layers of bechamel sauce along with layers of a tomato based meat sauce, pasta and cheese, just delightful! The complimentary bread and oil vinegar dip is so good! The wines are fantastic as well. We love coming on Wednesday for their half off bottle of wines and 25% off pasta dishes. The atmosphere is very nice with a bit of a loud dinning-room. Our waitress for the night was very friendly but when we wanted to order our second bottle of wine and more bread, we had to wait a while to find her. She hadn't checked on us for a good while. But other than that it was an amazing dinner! We will be back!

The food and service were excellent!

I ordered the pene pesto and if your a pesto lover, you will love it, they don't water it down with cream and the ricotta cheese and tree nuts are the cherry on top. The marinara sauce and meat balls pares very well with thr bread they give you. Its probably the best marinara I've ever had.

All in all it was an EXCELLENT experience and we are definitely coming back :)

I ate at this Italian restaurant about two months ago, and the experience was so horrendous that I’ve thought about it every single day since. Right from the start, it was clear that this place has zero respect for its customers. They shamelessly served us bread with canola oil and vinegar for dipping—frying oil! I gagged as soon as it touched my mouth. It’s as if they went out of their way to cut corners at every possible step.

The beef carpaccio was a nightmare—about 1/3 inch thick and smelled rotten. I wouldn’t eat that beef even if it were cooked, let alone raw. The pappardelle was cold and the meat was soggy, swimming in a sauce that tasted like it had been thrown together with no care whatsoever.

I’ve never left a restaurant feeling like the owner actively despises his own customers until now. The owner is not Italian in any way, and it shows. His arrogance shines through in the subpar quality of the food and the blatant lack of authenticity. It’s clear that he’s solely interested in squeezing as much money as possible out of his patrons, who he seems to hate passionately. I wouldn’t wish this dining experience on my worst enemy. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this place—there’s absolutely nothing redeeming about it.

Visited on a Friday night without a reservation so the place was packed but luckily it was a nice evening so we accepted the offer of a sidewalk table and were seated immediately. Brea has a pretty quiet main street so it was fine to be seated on the sidewalk.

We ordered from the weekend special menu which was $40 for three courses. I think that's a bargain! The bread and oil was delicious, then we had some antipasti and a salad - both very nice - followed by steak, seafood cioppino, tiramisu and pannacotta. We enjoyed all of the food and thought that the options on the special menu were great, unlike some places which I think put less popular dishes on these saver menus.

We enjoyed some very nice wine, they definitely make up some of the costs there but restaurants will do that.

Our server Bobby was great, attentive, friendly but not overbearing, and the other staff we interacted with were also welcoming and polite. We look forward to visiting again.

I highly recommend grabbing some friends and sampling the entire appetizer menu. Though not every product was to my tastes (lookin' at you, Grandma's meatballs), everything was well made. The beet salad that comes with the Burrata might be my favorite salad ever. I propose they create a specialty carpaccio with that salad on top rather than just arugula! Love me some desserts, here, too.

Service was fantastic and speedy, and the manager frequently walks the floor to ensure guest satisfaction. If I've one complaint, I'd love to see some high quality Reggiano chunks grated to order rather than spoonfuls o' pre-grated parm. Get one of them 200 pound monsters from Italy and crack it open for all to see.

Came here for mothers day. We had a reservation but apparently cannot choose between a regular table or a high top. We had a party of 5 adults and 1 small child. We asked if we could be moved to a regular table to reduce the risk of the child falling and they said no. There was a standard table with 8 seats right next to our high top that we also asked about, but was told that table we being held for another reservation.

For starters we had the fritto misto which we all enjoyed, it had a good variety of items and was nice and crunchy. Also for the carpaccio which I did not particularly like. The meat was sliced super thin and put on a plate and topped with arugula and olive oil. The meat was so thin it just sticks to the plate and shreds into little bits when you try to eat it. The strength of flavor from the arugula and capers was very overpowering for this dish. For my main I got the branzino. The fish itself was good but a little on the salty side. The spinach was overcooked so it just turned in to a mushy blob, and it was extremely over salted, totally inedible. The potatos were bland and flavorless. For dessert I got the cheesecake which could have been good, but they added so many toppings that is really just masked the cheesecake itself. Less is definitely more in this situation. They have a good wine selection, we ordered a few bottles. Any happy hour specials they have do not apply in the main dining room, only in the bar. Parking is atrocious, you'll end up walking several blocks to get here. Halfway through our dinner they sat a group of 6 adults at the table with 8 chairs. So we they technically could have sat us there, since we had a table for 6 as well and since you apparently can't specify high top or regular during your reservation....

Overall I was really unimpressed and don't think I would return again.

We haven’t been here probably for more than 10 years. The taste had declined a bit, but the dishes were still decent. The fried combo-appetizer was pretty good, the broccolini was good as well. The salad was okay, but my favorite dish spicy sausage orecchiette was bit too watery and the sausage was on the tough side (more so than I remembered). The service was friendly and excellent as before. The location is close to the free parking structure.

First time at Bruno's. I did a lot of research before hand to know what to order. Overall it was a good experience, I wasn't blown away or anything, but also nothing was off putting. The place is small and can get cramped. We ordered the Fettuccine Shrimp, was 7/10. And the pappardelle pasta had a bit more taste than the shrimp pasta 8/10, although it got cold pretty quickly. For appetizer we got bruschetta di pomodori, it was decent 8.5/10. And Fritto Mistto 8/10 sauce was good, although over priced for not all being seafood, one third was green beans!!. For dessert we got the Budino Al Caramello 8/10. If this had any crust to it, it would have made it delicious. Service was nice, overall a decent experience, but not like wow, the food was amazing I must come back!!

Only thing is don’t get their tiramisu (it was the most average I have ever tasted…plus the owner said the alcohol is “cooked off” and completely safe to consume if you’re pregnant or if there are kids but you can clearly taste it. Visited Bruno's on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. Starting with the bread, it was fresh and soft with a nice crust and the olive oil/balsamic with pepper flakes was great.

Tried the arancini which was decent but it's not my favorite personally. It was at least light and not overly rich.

Pasta Primavera entree was really good. Fresh veg, delicious pasta, and a sauce that was just a little bit sweet and not at all oily or rich. Excellent dipping sauce if you have any extra bread!

Also tried the pesto which was equally yummy. Really liked the addition of arugula.

For dessert we had the cannoli cheesecake which was actually light and fluffy and not your typical heavy cheesecake style. Don't let it deter you though as it was still very good.

For drinks I had the Al Capone Old Fashioned which was very smooth and warming. The martinis were also well made but a little on the small side.

Overall this place was really good with excellent service, a nice ambience, and most importantly delicious food.

The North Orange County unfortunately does not boast a plethora of good quality restaurants, so when I came across reviews for Bruno's in Brea as amazing, I thought, this could actually be good. The restaurant opens at 4:30pm and after arriving there at 5pm and finding the place already rather full, I felt confident that we would enjoy a good meal. Unfortunately, upon being seated, we wondered how food and drinks would fit on such a small table and had to do some major manouvering once the food did come. When we asked the waitress, who certainly was courteous, to make some recommendations and when I heard her mispronounce the names of some very common Italian dishes, I started having doubts. Not that knowing how to correctly say the names in Italian will determine how the food will come out, but it did make me wonder how seriously they took their food, its' preparation, and the authenticity. Pronouncing the appetizer, bruschetta as if the "sch" is pronounced like an "sh" just displays pure ignorance. We ordered the Arancini, which, were acceptable but not very impressive, followed by a Caesar salad, which was unfortunately somewhat lackluster. We also ordered 3 main courses: Cioppino, which again, was acceptable but did not knock our socks off, papardelle with shortribs, apparently their signature pasta but came out on the salty side, and rigatoni alfredo, which by all accounts was not bad. I ordered a glass of red cabernet sauvignon, which was served in more of a water glass than stemware. We declined dessert and asked to have the leftovers packed. They came by with 3 containers and with so many things on the tiny table, it was nearly impossible to get the food from the dishes into the containers without something falling on the floor. The overall experience left much to be desired. The place was loud, the service, at least with respect to the lack of table space, not up to par, but when you read these raving reviews about how awesome the food is and you are not experiencing that awesomeness it is quite a let down. You live and you learn

A food Mecca for quality Italian food! The location is well placed and eating outside is such a treat with good weather.

The Bruschetta is not one to miss. The Lasagna is a generous portion with a not sweet sauce; layers are stacked perfectly.

The Penne Al Pesto is my favorite without question…highly recommend. The nice Ricotta to the side mix’s superbly with the Pine Nuts and the Pesto sauce is just……TRY IT!

This place has a special place in our hearts. Delicious steak with amazing potatoes, garlic, cipollini mushrooms, and garlic. The meatballs are ridiculously good along with the house bread and olive oil. The only thing I would say is that, their wine selection is extensive but we were told sharply that only 3 taste are allowed per table! We would have loved to have tried a little more than 3 wines and we had quite a few people at our table that love wine and we would have ordered way more wine if we could actually try a small sample first. Aside from that the cocktails and food was amazing.

Great place to get Italian!! Probably the best bruschetta I've had in a long time! Servers were awesome and attentive. We noticed the manager walking around and talking to the tables checking in. He's even seen helping the staff which I think contributes to a great environment. My only critiques: 1) the volume. Not much you can do about it, but lots of people talking so like other people suggested, probably not the best spot for an intimate date. 2) next to the host podium are two high top tables that I feel are way too close to the door. We didn't sit there, but I dreaded the idea that we would be. I think if these two were removed, it would create a better entry way and reduce the risk of a bad experience. Regardless, I would definitely come back for that pesto and bruschetta!

I've been here several times and had good experiences. Last week my husband took our family there for my birthday last week. It was offensive. When we were shown to our table, my sister in law was told the rules... we spent 400.00 on dinner and yet had to sit through a discussion about only using the table for 2 hours. We were also instucted on gratuity. Before we even odered, we were told that 20% would be automatically charged to your card. How bad is your service that you need to force people to pay a tip? I should have known. I don't know what has been happening on a tuesday night at this restaurant, but apparently people have been staying celebrating birthdays for too long!!! Ridiculous. And the waiter kept asking us where our bread went.... are you kidding me??? He was so rude. He barely got our drink order, let alone brought bread. At one point, he asked us where the bread baskets went!!!! Come on. Needless to say, we were over the food before it even was served.

First impression - dishes were dirty. There were lipstick and water spot stains on the glasses. There was dried food on ALL of the plates at our table. So we were grossed out to begin with. The charcuterie board was great! The rest of the food was over garliced and over priced. My daughter love salmon and couldn't eat hers, no flavor. The Cannoli cheesecake... does not taste like cannolis at all. The baked bread is great though. A waste of $200.

I got two chicken parmesan's last night to go...

Both entrees had burnt chicken and was hard and black on the bottoms. One entrée didn't have any pasta. Also about 20mins late, after already waiting 30mins

Food quality decreased. Mussels were a disappointment and its soup was not halfway close to Italian nor Brussels level. The sausage pasta was subpar and don't want to even think about it. Will revisit another time to see improvement, but not recommended due to it's price vs. quality.

Another thing - they charge us alcohol tax. Be careful.

Bruno’s has a pleasant facade and small entrance facing Birch Street. Often, during meal times, you will see groups and couples waiting outside for their table. There is no waiting area inside the restaurant, so be sure to bring a jacket. The hostess staff are friendly and polite. If you have a group of 5 or more, you have to call to make a reservation as you won’t be able to on OpenTable. I particularly have a fondness for the manager who always seems to be going above and beyond in regard to communication. If you have been a few times, he genuinely seems to take note of who you are, like you’re returning family. He’s always hustling, helping guests and staff alike. My favorite server to date is Rachel. Much like her manager, she is professional, kind and has a great energy.

The meatballs make a fantastic appetizer and what’s different about their charcuterie board is that it comes with an assortment of pickled vegetables and olives. They have a fantastic Caesar salad with crunchy croutons. The steak is wonderful as an entrée but when dining for two, be sure to have one person order the steak and the other to order the Rigatoni Alfredo 2.0. The steak is next level amazing dipped in the silky Alfredo sauce. I’m not a dessert person so I would recommend the Lemoncello martini. This cocktail differs from a typical Lemondrop due to the fact that Lemoncello is made by infusing the lemon rinds, sugar and vodka together for a length of time. My husband always orders their version of an Old Fashion.

Bathrooms are clean and private, they get a little messy on busy nights like Wednesday’s and Saturday’s. Great for date night.

My husband, myself, and a good friend of ours dined at Bruno’s Italian Kitchen this evening, for the first time. This is a beautiful restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. All three of us, ordered something different. We all could tell that the sauces were homemade and more unique than what one would find at a chain. The quality of the food was on another level, in a good way. The service was excellent as well. My husband and I had two different pasta dishes and our friend had the Cioppino. On Wednesday evenings the pasta is 50 percent off. The pasta comes out to about $10 each with the 50 percent discount, give or take. This is an incredible deal, especially since the food was so good. Our server was very good as well. We had a meeting to attend to this evening and my husband is President. We needed to be at our meeting by a certain time. They timed our food so well , that we weren’t even rushed to get to our meeting. This restaurant is a gem. It’s also in a very cute and trendy area. I know we will dine at Bruno’s Italian Kitchen again.

Service was good, but the food was meh....ok at best. It seemed to me that a lot of effort was put into the presentation. The food was pretty. Every dish was plated nicely and looked very good. Unfortunately, the taste was lacking.

The bread was good. My Lobster Alfredo was very disappointing. Not creamy, very little lobster, and a bit dry. The dessert was better, but it was not any better than what I could have purchased at Whole Foods.

They should put as much emphasis on the flavor of their food as they give to the presentation of their food.

Went to Downtown Brea for a date night and decided to try out Bruno's. On a busy Saturday night, they were able to seat us within 20 minutes which was awesome! Our server was great and the manager even came by to check on us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The chicken parm with penne pasta was DELICIOUS. I also asked our server what a good red wine was and he recommended a blend. It was so smooth and yummy. We each got the $30 special and we were super happy with it. I will 100% be coming back here! It was the perfect romantic date night.

My kids wanted something different that was not Olive garden and this one was a winner. To be honest the name Bruno made them think of the Disney movie so we don't talk about it. Compared to the chain restaurant Olive garden this was a nice change in Pace. The food portions at first seem smaller but they were just right and we left very full. For authentic Italian food I was actually surprised that my kids ate everything and they loved their pasta dishes. The seafood pasta dish I tried was very delicious. They're chopped salad was amazing and I will be eating at every single time. If you're looking for a nice environment, food that you feel is cooked from scratch (I got the impression that the pasta is made there) and reasonably priced, then come here.

There are a number of good reviews of this place, but, it's actually very average Italian. I've never seen 'meatballs' as an appetizer. Just meatballs, nothing else. The sauce was a bit sweet. Made no sense. The bread basket came after asking the 2nd time. The Shrimp arrabiata was good, and the wife liked the lasagna. The drinks we ordered were good too. The best part though, was the Tiramisu at the end (rum and made with raw eggs like it's original recipe). Strange thing though, the waitress nudged the tiramisu plate across the table with the consumed bread basket. Maybe place the dessert plate closer next time, rather than on the furthest corner of the table in the first place? Wouldn't come here again.

Food was tasty but definitely small portions. We ordered 6 total items 3 different 2 each. It seemed like they cooked and split into 2 boxes using the same portion.

Picture on menu is much bigger than the actual.

Recently started coming here after learning about their weekly specials and have now become a regular! My favorite is the half off pasta and wine day. I like the rigatoni Alfredo and the Bruno parpadelle dishes the best. Their risotto balls and Caesar salad are also tasty and the tiramisu is yummy for dessert. Try to get seated in the bar area to get the happy hour deal as well 🥳

I had a wonderful dining experience at Bruno's Italian Kitchen. The restaurant accommodated a rather large party of 13 for my graduation dinner. Our server was friendly, attentive, and provided outstanding service!

The pasta dishes and cocktails are incredible, and the Tiramisu is to die for! I should also mention the prices are a great value considering Bruno's is nestled right in the heart of downtown Brea.

It's been a few years since I've visited, ordered the pappardelle... if you're on a diet, I suppose it was acceptable but I'm used to a much richer sauce and well...flavor. Also was a victim of their risotto balls, greatest textured cardboard of all time! I have no plans on returning for food.

The saving grace was the waitress, who was knowledgeable of the wines. I asked her to surprise me with a bold cab... she understood the assignment. Wine makes me happy.
