2nd visit. So much to choose from here. Fresh made tortillas. Carne asada, Pollo, carnitas, shrimp, bbq Mexican beef, al pastor stuffed tacos. Flavor and tender meat. Came for breakfast a few weeks ago. Amazing breakfast burritos! Staff is attentive and friendly! Highly recommended and will be back a lot. I forgot pics for this visit but here are the pics from breakfast.

The best Mexican food we've found in the area. I'm from San Antonio and my wife is from East L.A. So, no strangers to authentic Mexican food.
We have lived in the Diamond Bar/Walnut area for 40-years. We've eaten at De Oro many times, tried many different menu items, and we have never been disappointed.
I realize people have different tastes in food, different expectations, and different experiences when dining out. I feel bad for the folks who had a disappointing experience at De Oro.
The staff is always friendly towards us and if they are busy and running slow, they apologize to us and bring us more tortilla chips.
We know if there are a lot of customers or if they have a lot of to-go orders, it's going to take more time than usual. We are old and retired, but not everyone has the time or patience to wait and they leave a negative review.
We have tried many Mexican restaurants in the area. I won't mention the ones we didn't like because, it's a matter of personal taste.
Xavi's in Chino Hills was my favorite, but I haven't eaten there since before the pandemic. I expect they are still great. Pepe's in Hacienda Heights, The Durango in Brea (they didn't survive the 2020 shut down), the big Juancho's restaurant in Ontario (I don't know if they are still there), the small Juancho's cafe in Chino Hills is good for a quick take-out (they used to be better before Covid and they had to remove the "help yourself" bean pot), The Whole Enchilada in Diamond Bar before the demographics changed causing them to shut down, and Kalaveras. I can't be sure if it's the food I like or the atmosphere. I always have fun no matter which one I eat at, but I particularly like the small hole-in-the-wall one in Montebello.
If anyone knows a better place in the area for Mexican food, I'd like to know.

Close to Anaheim, I getting old but couldn't find it on the menu at first (found it under house special and not under soup), but they do serve Birria De Chivo (mexican mutton/goat soup) OMG. I did a full review of this on my youtube channel. Let's just say, they are not skimping on the pieces of mutton or chivo lol..defo i would eat here again. and in am, the soup is piping scalding hot..lol

Tamales have no flavor. The masa is bland. Their beans are canned beans. They're Rosarito Brand beans. They rest of their food, including the chips have no flavor. Absolutely no salt. I will not be eating here again. It's not authentic Mexican food. It's white washed wanna be Mexican food.

Technically a 3.5 star to be fair ......
Paper hanging from the cieling was your VERY traditional colourful Mexican cutouts . Very well done , although I am not a Mexican native , seen it before in other places .
The music coming out of the speakers was in English though , reason why I am giving them a 3.5 star.
Appetizers were delicious .Food was also great , cooked with care .
Service was above average .
Will go again ... Is about 12 míles from home . however good food is worth the trip .

I love the smell of chiles being roasted that permeates the front counter area. I had crispy tacos that were made on tortillas that were hand made, that makes such a huge difference in the taste and texture, it was wonderful! My wife had the carnitas which came with hand made tortillas, and truly enjoyed it. The guacamole was fresh and good but not very spicy, the waitress let us know they have a spicy version so I will get that next time. Very friendly local place that we visit often.

Got takeout from De Oro La Puerta and loved it! I was a little skeptical as Brea doesn’t have the best Mexican food spots but this hit the spot! Here is a breakdown of the dishes we got.
Tacos: we got carne asada and Al pastor. Both were very delicious. They are topped with cilantro, onion, and red salsa. They also come with a handmade tortilla which was very nice!
Chicken Taquitos: the taquitos were my favorite part of the dinner! The taquitos are rolled with their handmade tortillas and were filled with flavorful chicken.
Chips, rice, beans: these were solid accompaniments to the meal. We loved the fresh chips!
Overall, highly recommend this spot if you’re in the brea area. I think it’s the best around town.

My first time here because traffic was bad. But not sure about this place for Mexican food. I order caldo de res and I was very disappointed. The portion is ok but the caldo was just not very good... it looks like it was made with chicken bullion and the flavor was just off. Other food just didn't look good either.

Upon arriving, we were immediately struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere. We ordered menudo and carne asada with eggs and potatoes, accompanied by homemade tortillas. The menudo was incredibly delicious, reminiscent of the way my mom used to make it, full of rich, authentic flavors. The carne asada, while good, could have benefited from a bit more seasoning to truly elevate the taste.
Overall, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. The service was impeccable—friendly and attentive, with the staff's smiles adding to the pleasant experience. I would rate the service a solid 5 out of 5.

I would say that this is absolutely authentic mexican food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Their soups, tacos, enchiladas, chile rellanos to name a few. To be honest. I haven't ever been disappointed. This is a family run restaurant. They are always polite and helpful, and will respond to any questions. This place without question, is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants even though there are many from which choose in all directions, but we always come back here. It has alot going for it. It's friendly, clean, spacious and the food is very good! People who love authenticity will make the drive to eat here. It's lovingly called "La Puerta."

I have to say. When I first heard of la puerta, I thought nothin of it. I started to get the appetizer of the la puerta platter like a couple of years ago, and since then, I've literally become addicted to la puerta. It's conveniently close. And when call it in and when I arrive I pay for my food and it's ready.. in at least 2 years time, I've had over 40 la puerta platters, and 16 medio litro cokes from there. I mean that's like 600 bucks spent at la puerta. Id highly recommend the red burrito wet, and get it with only beans and cheese. It's so good
La puerta is without a doubt my go-to favorite Mexican food restaurant, because of 3 reasons. 1. Great quality of the food. 2 great service by the kind and humble employees. The third reason,.. the variety and comfort feeling of the food I can order. Without a problem. La puerta is a must for those who crave good comfortable Mexican food. I'll probably bring going there in a couple of days to get a red burrito. People please try la puerta, it's gonna be worth every penny.
