El Torito Grill

It is not the old Mexican restaurant I used to love in college. Then again, my food experiences were not all too worldly and I wouldn't know better. Also, I didn't have much financial means to explore. Now, I would prefer to go to a more authentic Mexican restaurant if I had the choice. I was invited to a birthday party so I sat down and ordered my tacos. Waiting for the food took a long time and was very slow even though the waiter was nice and did his best.

I ordered the 2 choice items. Chili Verde and Steak taco. The Chili Verde was fried too much. However, a fresh one was immediately brought out to me. The server was amazing. And of course, chips salsa and homemade tortillas with butter. Yum!

Yes it’s a 2 1/2 hour drive on a Friday night to get there, but it’s definitely worth the drive. The food is exceptional. The tortillas are freshly made with orange honey butter And the combo plates are the way to go. We had a really nice server. Her name was Cynthia and she was outstanding. I love this place and will make the drive as often as I can because it’s worth it. Highly recommended.

The food was amazing! I got the Vampiro Tacos with Raspberry Tea. I had gotten the Tropical Tea at first but it was natural so it wasn’t sweet. But our server gave me the raspberry one as a refill. Our server was Adriana. She is so sweet and provided very good service. She was quick and always checking on us. Beautiful energy. Very good service from the restaurant and our server Adriana. Highly recommend! ☺️

Came here for all you can eat brunch. Bomb! The homemade tortillas made the tacos so tasty. They had an assortment of breakfast foods along with Mexican favorites and a meat carving station. Brunch includes bottomless mimosas! I will definitely be coming back.

Food was great as always, it was a good authentic Tex Mex. Loved the table side guacamole. Our waitress Adriana was amazing from making our guacamole and hand made tortillas to suggesting the perfect dessert. I’d give her 10 stars if I could, great service and amazing food.

Our absolute favorite place for happy hour. Complimentary chips and salsa, fresh tortillas; makes us happy every time. Nice HH food selection and margaritas, regular and/or cadillac.
Service can be tricky. Unfortunately understaffed; so just be patient.
Chris, our regular bartender, seems to always be working. He's very sweet, always knows what we want and is attentive.

I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food as it’s white washed Mexican food with no flavor and I swear my burrito had more onions than bell peppers in it for a fajita burrito with a barely cooked tortilla. Would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anybody who’s looking for a real authentic Mexican food experience. The service was OK, not something to rave about. I knew I was taking my chances when I went to an El Torito Grill located in a business complex but I assumed that the name itself would serve its reputation well. I was wrong. The food was of poor quality and I quickly lost my appetite. Rather than spoil the appetite more, we cut our losses, paid the bill, and left to get food elsewhere.

It's been a long time since 2010 and I wasn't impressed. With thay being said it's alot better now, I had the fajitas and it was very good they make fresh tortillas the sauce is made fresh chips are fresh the beans had a smokey flavor and the rice was good too place was super busy!

I wanted to see the lions vs bills football game. Since I was in the Pasadena area I drove by el torito and said let's try it out. I sat at the bar area and was waited by a bartender name Serena. I ask for a brown derby and I was shocked that she knew what it was. I ordered the sopes and flan... which was pretty good. Serena gave me great service and ask if I wanted to try different types of Bourbon on my brown derby. It would definitely come back..

My Neice arranged a surprize birthday party for her mother, my sister at El Torito Grill. Our server Jose was Excellent. Service was GREAT! The array of food choices was incredible! I was there tonight with a party of 19. Food and service was awesome. However, I was ordering 16 oz draft beers. They were not 16 oz. I know because I also ordered a 12 oz bottle beer and it filled up the so called 16 oz glass. The 12 oz beer filled the glass exactly to the top.

El Torito has really gone downhill, and it’s no surprise they’re closing locations. The brunch was disappointing, easily a 1/10. Charging $40 per person for that quality is absurd. The corn cake was so dry it was inedible, and the enchiladas were tough and impossible to cut through. They’ve stopped offering handmade tortillas, which used to be a highlight. The arroz con leche was just bland milk with cinnamon, and the carnitas were incredibly dry. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Yesterday we went to zebra something special like always we like the restaurant But this time was a bad day yo go the waitress was very disrespectful with us, she was pressuring us to order and my sister and I couldn't decide what we wanted, she was pressuring us to order and we told her to give us time that for now only the drinks our husband did order and they give you flour tortillas until we asked for them, she gave us and brought us 1 for each and we told her if she could bring us more please and she didn't pay attention to us and said since I have time she will bring them to us and she brought them to us and when she came back to tell us if me and my sister weren't going to order and I told her no not anymore and she said to me very rude you already came with the tortillas and the truth is that it was a bad decision to go to this place and I wanted to look for a manager and I didn't find it and even though she gave us the bill she tells us if we can give her a good review on the Torito page and we just stood there staring, really she is serious her name is Adriana

I usually have no problems here, however, my food wasn't cooked to what I asked for and even after sent back, still wasn't done. I left very disappointed. No issues with staff as they were very friendly. Just very unhappy with my dinner.

This place rebranded ET Grill is always great! NOT to be confused by regular El Torito (which is owned by the same company) the menu is different, food quality is better and and the ambiance is elevated vs regular El Torito. I love their carne asada fajitas great marinade 😋 they come out sizzling (as they should). This place (ET Grill), their flagship restaurant Las Brisas in Laguna Beach and Javier's has the best carne asada fajitas in OC LA IE area.

My understanding is the chef is Peruvian so it's Tex Mex with a Peruvian twist 😋
The green rice is great! The salsa is great! Even the black beans are great and beans are great and I usually skip beans or order light beans.

Fresh made tortillas, fresh made guacamole made at your table. Almost everything here is good.

We have been coming to this place since I was a young child and it’s always just the best! The tortillas with the honey butter are out of this world. We looove the happy hour specials. Honestly some of the best deals out there! And I love the corn cake and tomato soup too. My classic order. The flan was also incredible. Some of the best flan we’ve ever had.

I have been a big fan of El Torito Grill for many years. Not just this location but others as well . The food has always been authentic, robust with distinct flavor . The Sunday Brunch was my favorite. Although they still have good food and our waiters and waitresses have always been exceptional. I was a bit taken back when we walked in and no host staff was there to greet . We had to search for someone and I was a bit disappointed. The food was ok but it's definitely not what it used to be. I will definitely return for drinks .

I came back to town to have a reunion with 20 of us. Our waiter was amazing and so helpful. The food was served quickly and he made sure we all had what we had asked for. Our waiter took the time to take group pictures of us Landscape and portrait, so that we would be happy with the results. The food was great and everybody was happy with the atmosphere.

You cannot find better tasting freshly made Mexican Food.
You gotta try the Diabla Shrimp... Your mouth will explode flavors of finely made grilled food. Delicious and healthy.

Food was at best OK. Definitely doesn't make you go back. I have been at many other El Torito locations, but this one was a disappointment. The best thing is the atmosphere. But to enter the restaurant, you have to go up two flights of stairs. There's no handicap entrance.

The hostess was mildly rude. I think she was in a bad mood. We asked if we could sit at the bar, since there was a 45 minute wait. She said we could sit at the bar top. We walk to the area, and there's another server. She asks if we're going to sit. She then tell us we can sit at a table there (not the bar top). We said sure, we'll sit there. The hostess I guess comes to check on us in the bar area, sees we were going to sit at a table, and rudely says "I told you guys the bar top" Then turns to the other worker and asks her "are you okay with this?"

I was going to tell her that the other person said we could sit there, but then two spots at the bar top opened up and we went there instead. We preferred the bar because it was right in front of the TV and we wanted to watch a game.

The bartender was better and made up for Ms. Grumpy I don't like my Job Gus

We were frequent customers for years. We've moved away and had not been back for a few years. We're back in town and visited again yesterday. What a disappointment. The place was like walking into a dungeon. It has lost its luster. Everything looks old and unkept. Ceiling tiles look old and dirty. Wood trimmings are chipped or scuffed all around. Bright metal finishes, dull, floors unswept. Very depressing joint now. What happened?
Food still good. Best thing are the tortillas though. Will we come back? Not if management doesn't get their act together and refresh and make the place shine again.

I actually really love this place. Not so much this last time. The cleanliness of the restaurant is lacking. My baby is sick. They don’t sanitize the high chairs before giving it to the next family apparently. Again, now my once healthy, happy child is ill. We literally never leave the house. We went there and he woke up sneezing more than 272 times. I had to stop counting I was irritated. I do generally wipe down things and I fault myself for forgetting to do so before we seated him. We forgot it in the car and had to go and grab it. By that time he had already touched all over the stuff and we couldn’t keep his hands away from his mouth and face in time. My recommendations for this facility is to sanitize things you know toddlers will be touching, make sure the plates & utensils are CLEAN before placing on the tables. Don’t be lazy about it. We had to dine- in with to-go trays and utensils because everything was with residual food particles. Literally everything encrusted and that was kind of gross. Also, the waiter brought us our drinks in the wrong cups and kept the same straws but gave it to the wrong ppl. I just happened to notice my lipstick on the other cup and my daughter had the wrong drink entirely. ALSO, they forgot our side dips and such with our dinners because they thought it was a to-go order. Aht aht…I noticed immediately and requested it. I always get the same thing and I’m very observant. No courtesy refills without having to ask for it. And the place was not busy at all.

Needs more employees. The poor ones there said they were working a 12. Our waitress was awesome. Food didn't come out without beans as I asked but the waitress made it upto me with more corn cake. They also sent us home with event menu. We might have our wedding reception there. Not sure but they might have a view. They seemed too short staffed for us to sit out there. Next time we'll try. They seated us in the bar area. They wanted us to sit in booth but one of our party couldn't fit. So we moved ourselves to a table and moved chairs for them. I also got the salt from another table myself since the poor waitress was jogging. Everyone was top notch! One lil thing caught my eye but I could of read the situation wrong. It felt like a heavy set male server(not the bartender) might of bullyied a female. He took something from her abruptly and said she wasn't a server anyways(at left side of bar). Looked like she might of teared up and went in kitchen. But apart from that the food was amazing. The tortillas were awesome and the butter was the best I've ever had! Salsa was awesome too, so different 😋

In times like these where everything is so expensive and a hamburger can cost you $16.00. It's nice to have a place where the food is tasty, the atmosphere is good and the service is great.
We go here for an occasional dinner and brunch on Sunday; it's probably the only place to find a traditional brunch nowadays.
Cynthia was our server and our table service was excellent, making it her priority that we had everything we wanted.
The manager came over also, best customer service we e had in a long time.

This is one of my favorite places. I now have to travel 70 miles to get my favorite Roasted Tomato Soup. The hand made tortillas with honey butter👍. And I can’t forget that they have my favorite tropical tea. I hope they never close as they have done to the Grills closer to me.

Came here with a big party and had a good time. The server struggled with getting our order out, we had a few missing dishes but it was fixed quickly. I had the seafood taco plate and they were smaller than I had imagined and a little dry. We had the family fajita plate at our table as well and that is worth the money. My biggest complaint is that we couldn’t split the check at all which is frustrating when you have a large group of

Uuuuuuterly amazing coming here that we don’t want to go to Javier’s anymore. One it’s too far and after dining here this past weekend we were blown away!!! The asada done so well. The shrimp done exceptionally well. I didn’t know chicken can be done excellently anywhere. Their beans so rich and just perfect. The rice fully fragrant and delicious!!! The fajitas just full of flavor after being flambéed. Their cantina chips and salsa was very good. Their handmade tortillas were warm and had crispy parts that made every taco I made scrumptious. Their vampiro tacos is highly recommended here but if your feeling extra hungry order a third one.

The 4 item combo was horrible, I always get it from the regular el toritos but the grill chili relano was horrible as was the steak and fish taco.We waited a long time to be served because we had a drink at our table is what the waiter told us. I'll just go to the original el toritos from now on.

I'm no longer a fan of this place. The food wasn't that great at all. Both the chicken & steak were dry and completely lacked flavor. I used to love the fajitas but not anymore. The service was average. Nothing special about it. The tiny booth you can barely fit a plate on was very uncomfortable and it was like Tetris trying to get a meal to fit. It's by the kitchen so it's loud as well. The tortillas with the sweet butter taste good but that was about it. This is the 3rd time I've been disappointed so after almost 40+ years of El Torito, I won't be back. 😔

The food is always delicious and the staff is very kind. The fresh tortillas are AMAZING and their chips and guac is always something we order. Delicious Mexican food.

This is a nice, spacious, and clean restaurant. The service was ok. The workers were nice but somewhat unattentive. The tiny & I mean tiny, 2 person booth by the kitchen was not great. It was like a game of Tetris trying to make things fit. It was a really uncomfortable spot. The food wasn't worth the price. The fajitas lacked flavor big time. I was really disappointed and so was my BF. His chicken fajitas were dry and so were the steak fajitas. I ended up just boxing mine up for the dog. The sweet butter and flour tortillas were really good. Chips and salsa are always on point. I'm disappointed with how much these restaurants have gone downhill when it comes to flavor and price points. This is the 3rd time I've been disappointed. 3 strikes and you're out. Sadly after almost 40 years of dining with El Torito, I won't be back.

Came here for all you can eat brunch. Bomb! The homemade tortillas made the tacos so tasty. They had an assortment of breakfast foods along with Mexican favorites and a meat carving station. Brunch includes bottomless mimosas! I will definitely be coming back.

It gets full for dinner but we made reservations so it was easy getting to our table. Had the carnitas plate. It was enough for good leftovers the next day. The warm fresh tortillas are so good. It was busy and loud but an enjoyable evening.

Went durning happy hour and didn’t know that you have to sit at the bar to get price of 1/2 off. If you sit in dinning area for drinks it does not apply. Found out after I got the bill.
