The sandwiches are good. I had the pastrami. Tons of fries are served if ordered. I’d come back for the sandwich. It’s shaved pastrami. Greasy diner foods. Not too bad.

We came near the height of lunch, so it was really busy and noisy. Despite that, service was fast and the food was hot and delicious. We definitely ended up getting more than we needed and had leftovers! I wish I had one closer to home 😋

This is an absolute must go whenever we are in the area. Portions are ridiculous but the flavor never disappoints. Chili fries can easily feed 4 people. Love these guys!

I can't think of a better place to get pastrami than The Hat. I ordered two pastrami dip sandwiches and a large order of fries to go. Didn't take long to get the food. The sandwiches were loaded with meat and tasted delicious. The fries were delicious and the portion was HUGE. I ate a bunch on the way home and still had a lot left to eat with the sandwich. The Hat is highly recommended.

Good food and old fashion burger/sandwich spot. Enjoyed the famous Pastrami sandwich with mustard and pickles with fries. Kid friendly with a Jr. burger. My husband had chili cheese fries. Note that the large fries is more of a family style size it filled half ways up a paper bag.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience here. I ordered the more expensive pastrami sandwich but was given a cheeseburger instead, several times. Despite paying extra, my order was consistently wrong. It's frustrating to expect quality service and end up dealing with such carelessness. Especially when they advertise their pastrami sandwich as an all great dish, and I can’t even receive it when I order it. This level of inattention to detail is unacceptable, especially when customers are paying premium prices. I won't be returning.

I love The Hat. Not only is it nostalgic from my high school days but whenever I am back in town, I need to stop by for the BEST pastrami sandwich. The bread is always fresh and the pastrami is the best I ve ever had. Their chili cheese fries are also top notch but huge, so be prepared to share with at least 1-4 others depending on if it s a meal or side. The employees have always been very helpful and friendly. Service is quick.

Surprised to see the hat with over a 4.5 Quality has steadily declined over the years to the point where the only thing I get here are the chili San cheese fries. I opt out of the cheddar here because I suspect it might be the bagged pre-shredded stuff. I m also not paying $2 for less than 4 oz of cheddar. Pro tip: bring your own cheddar from home and dump it on to of the chili right after you get your order for maximum melt age. The chili is questionable but it s still edible and I like the texture compared to it being liquidy like a lot of places. Haven t gotten sandwiches here in years because they were always unimpressive. Prices going up while quality goes down, it s a classic tale. $9.27 for an order of CHILI FRIES. It s over, in n out next door will swallow this place up

It s always chaotic there, and it s amazing that any food gets to the right customer. Last time I tried to eat there, I tried a phone order. The person who answered the phone just set it down and never came back to the phone. Don t bother during peak lunch or dinner hours.

Im here visiting.... found this place because I was working late and it was one of a handful of places still open @ 12:30 am. The pastrami dip is excellent! Ive been here 3 or 4 times total... every time the sandwich and the fries were hot and fresh!!! Customer service is awesome, too!

Wow! Massive portions and pastrami sliced thinly and perfectly on an excellent sandwich roll that doesnt get in the way of the meat. The wet fries were delicious and the onion rings were crunchy and savory. Best pastrami Ive eaten.

Drive through so no reviews from within. I was this time a bit underwhelmed. The Lettus chopped was rather cold and made the burger less flavorful imho. Also I had not been here in a, while and was surprised thwy dont have a bacon cheese burger (since when?)

Their pastrami is best but management and customer has to watch: Today 2:00pm I order1 pastrami dip +small drink=$11.99+2.89=14.88 I pay by 20 cash. The lady took order and give me $4 ..$1.22 gap and she pretend nothing! Later I heard the other customer argue with her return change was shortage too. Her behavior damage store reputation. A great food provider should not allow such thing happen continuely.

What a cool surprise. Really nice Pastrami and great potato salad. Good service with decent pricing. The only reason why Im not giving you a 5 for food is because while the bread was fresh, it was just way too soft and the sandwich gets smooshed when you hold it. Cool little mid-century spot or in the 60s with intact woodwork that is worth going inside and eating there to check it out. I was really surprised by the drive-thru!!

A friend highly recommended the hat because I m a pastrami addict. It was fantastic. I had the Pastrami Dip! So much Pastrami. My boys had the pastrami burgers and we shared a chili fries. So much food. If I lived in the area I d be a regular. So great to find a place that serves simple, good food.

Family and I have been going to this Hat for the last couple years. Cant help but to notice these last few months the chilli cheese pastrami fries always short on chilli, All cheese and pastrami...For the price you charge you better load em up. Not a bad spot though, good service.

Wed never had thin shaved pastrami before and this is no Langers Deli. That being said, this was a wonderful, savory sandwich on a delicious and tender roll. Tons of mustard and freshly grated horseradish, which will make your eyes water. Yummy! Well Be back.

Food quality has gone way down. Sandwiches are more expensive and smaller than they used to be. Chili cheese fries had unsalted fries and the chili also had zero salt or seasoning. It was a big portion of inedible slop. The roast beef dip was tiny and the roast beef barely tasted like beef. I would balk at their menu at half the price now that Ive seen their recent quality issues and how they skimp on you.

simply fantastic! One of a kind West Coast pastrami dont expect your New York style East Coast deli pastrami this is a different kind of delicious thin shaved and delectable. as of this writing still a very strong value at 12 bucks for a pastrami dip sandwich seems reasonable in these times of high inflation packed with a lot of meat you get your moneys worth. also worth a note is the obnoxiously sized chili cheese fries!

Be ready to die of heart burn after you finish an order of chili cheese fries as Im sure theyre trying to kill everyone with the shear size of this order. Everything here is served MASS QUANTITY style and you will love it. Just ask the guy your standing in line next to. Because yes, there is always a line. All the food is good and its one of those places youll be wanting to go back to when youre in the mood to tempt fate! This place is an OC classic. There s a reason it s been around since the 50 s and is ALWAYS hopping. I mean it; drive thru, walk up, phone orders, online orders just cranking it out. They operate like a finely tuned machine that makes awesome sandwiches Consistently piled high with lean thinly sliced perfectly seasoned pastrami on a fresh roll with pickles and mustard. That s it. Simple but delicious. They do sandwiches and they do them well, but they re known for the pastrami-so get the pastrami Parking: Due to the amount of drive thru patrons, navigating thru this lot can be frustrating. But stay the course and be patient but assertive and you ll get to the other side of the lot where parking abounds Wheelchair accessibility: There is wheelchair accessible parking as well as a ramp to the front door. There are no wheelchair accessible restrooms.

I love the fast food restaurant thats been around for 73 years since The Hat opened in 1951 and its famous for pastrami sandwiches. It also serves hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, and chili for some fun.

I landed at this place for lunch and as usual the pastrami no dip with fries was just marvelous. The food tastes the same at all The Hat locations. Always a great experience and this place was jumping with customers.

This place is hit or miss they are not consistent. Today was a miss. I had the chili cheese fries and asked to top off with onions. The fries were not cooked all the way still soggy and bright white color and unseasoned. The chili no flavor at all just bland. And they put about 2 cups of onions on top, way too much. I threw it away after a few bites.
