Black Bear Diner Buena Park

Right from the get-go they have what you can see plastered all over the walls are bears, I really loved it, it was fun and if you want to bring your kids they will really enjoy it. One of the things is the food. The food is really good they have a lot of it. You can choose from a very simple breakfast, all the way to a very big breakfast full of eggs sausage, pancakes, bacon, potatoes and much more. It's family friendly and very nice. The one thing that this particular restaurant has is Vanessa!
I have gone and visited several restaurants in my life and I got to tell Vanessa ranks up on top close to#1 . Vanessa got our order, brought it out fast and took care of us so we'll. Always with a smile, kindness and nicely. She made us feel really good. Next time I'm back in this area. My wife and I will be looking and coming back and have the pleasure of being taken care off by Vanessa. Thank you so very much!!

We were looking for the menu and didn't realize it's right in front of us, it's the newspaper. 😆
We liked their sausage and came out really juicy as opposed to the Reuben that was a little dry. I would take the french toast over the pancake. The pancake tasted like cake batter, it was pretty sweet and doughy. I wish the syrup had more maple taste to it.
I wanna mention their variety of condiments. The Chipotle sauce complemented well with the eggs and sausage.

I got the recommendation for my friend who works Disneyland and they have their annual Christmas party there every year. So I thought I'd give it a try I had a side salad with blue cheese dressing it was your typical small side salad nothing too fancy then I had the barbecue ribs with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. The ribs were very tender fall off the bone meat the potatoes were a garlic and herb variety and the corn on the cob was very juicy and flavorful. I would highly recommend it if you're tired of Denny's and Norms kind of places. This is a good alternative plus the atmosphere is very cute.

We come here at least twice a month for the fantastic family deals. We always have a great time! The food is decent, but for the price, it’s really a great value. The kids love the food and enjoy the welcoming environment and friendly service. The kids’ meals are an especially good deal, coming with ice cream. While the service can be a little slow at times due to a shortage of servers, they still manage to get your food and essentials to you eventually. We hope their business continues to grow so they can hire more staff and keep offering these amazing deals!

This is one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots!!! I totally love the “oh so yummy” BIG FOOT Chicken fried steak and eggs with the gravy on the side, the chicken is crunchy and very meaty. It’s really fills my tummy! Oh and the big fluffy biscuits are so tasty with butter or jelly. I could never finish this plate, I love my leftovers, 😋. I can’t forget about the savory country potatoes so perfectly delicious, I always opt for the country potatoes vs any other side option's. This last visit I made sure to purchase the habanero hot sauce because it’s deliciously perfect.
The service that Patty our waitress provided was wonderful. She was prompt, kind, proficient, and provided above and beyond service. I must add her sweet smile made all the difference. I took a guest and everything I had raved about this restaurant was proven today. They were impressed with the amazingly delicious food and efficient service. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Black Bear Diner. As a matter of fact I will add a Black Bear Diner gift card and those black fluffy slippers to my Christmas wishlist at our families gift exchange this year.

I used to dine here frequently in 2017/2018, my go-to order has always been chicken and waffles. I took my daughter this time, I ordered the usual for myself, and got Mac n Cheese and pancakes for my daughter. What stood out this time, and my reason for writing this review, is to thank and highlight the kindness and friendliness of our waitress Christina, she went above and beyond to make our dining experience very pleasant. Will definitely be coming back again.

I had breakfast with my husband here this morning and the experience was amazing. Vanessa was our server. She was extremely pleasant, attentive, and charming. I had the chicken sausage scramble from the lite menu (which is heavenly) and my husband had southern scramble, which he says was delicious. We do come here as often as we can for breakfast, and highly recommend it. The food, staff, and atmosphere are always delightful.

I usually don’t leave any bad reviews but I would say this is well deserved. I came here to celebrate my daughter’s birthday we got seated, didn’t see the waitress till after 15 mins we got seated. Evelyn was my waitress, didn’t see her much even though it was really slow, brought me the wrong shake and came back with the one I ordered but the presentation was not it. Please note I have been here many times and have received better service than what I got today. I decided to speak to the they call a “manager” he seemed too young to be one and got upset with me for letting him know about the food (the bacon we got was burnt and not in the good way)and the service and he visibly got upset at the fact that I was complaining more so over the service than the food. After I saw the waitress and him hugged and he spoke to her. So you’re just allowing and excusing terrible service, okay girl.

We were very happy with this awesomely decorated comfy restruant. The food was hot and delicious, huge portions, served very fast CORRECTLY and our server Miss Patty made sure we had everything that we wanted, shes a perfect hostess and representative of this establishment. I went here with my family of 7 after a day at Knotts. The food was so good! I got tri tip and mashed potatoes, but others got fried fish, roast turkey, the parmesan burger, fettuccine alfredo, a mini volcano, and cinnamon roll French toast. Everyone was very happy with this experience!

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! ALWAYS UNDER STAFFED! Took forever to get seated and once seated 15 mins passed and the waitress never acknowledged us. Me and my family walked out. And there was only 1 table with people so no reason for us not get waited on. Never coming back to this place again!!!

Really good breakfast for a really good price, plus we had excellent service. Got seated right away (4 adults + 3 kids) and within minutes had a couple coffees and water. Ordered our breakfast and the food came out quicker than we expected and it was really good. We all enjoyed our meal and the price for 4 adults and 3 kids was less than $75 - not too bad for being only a mile from a major amusement park.

The best breakfast spot ! Got a warm welcome after entering the door and seated quickly. Jewliza was our waiter and she was fantastic. Got our drinks right away, and checked on us frequently ! She was very polite and sweet as can be. We asked for recommendations and she mentioned the pumpkin pancakes ! They were delicious ! My family and I will be going back and requesting for Jewlizas service again.

A few visits week over week, at this location, and the experience has been repeatable. Most recently, Michelle and her lone cook were incredibly helpful, kind, and attentive to what would amount to a low-dollar breakfast (just myself) on a rather average Sunday morning. The food is delicious and filling while not being overly seasoned out of the kitchen (to your taste). Portions are large. Ive never minded this, as I always have leftovers! Menu can be overwhelming, but the waitstaff are always helpful at this location, and others Ive visited. Wheelchair accessibility: Few parking spots available in this part of town, but the access point has a solid concrete ramp going to the entrance. Decently wide seating arrangements, that can easily accomodate one, or two chairs comfortably in slower times of day. I hate having people serve over my shoulder... I like that there is covered outdoor seating that is open and accomodating, as well.

First time visiting the diner. Awkward at first. We stood around near the front counter for a few minutes. The waitress with the blonde hair never bother to address our group of 4 people. No acknowledgment whatsoever. She was more concerned with operating the register. We didnt know if we should sign in or seat ourselves. A few minutes later the other 2 waitresses appeared and acknowledged our presence. Once seated, our waitress (forgot her name) took care of us and the food came out fairly quickly. They have a vast variety of breakfast options. Food was ok. I had the chicken fried steak dinner. The gravy was rather bland. The atmosphere was of an old family diner. Love the bear theme decors. Would we go back? Probably not for a while, but we might return to check out the breakfast options.

This was a great food experience! We visited the Buena Park Black Bear Diner after car shopping and we had Excellent service from Vanessa. She was very attentive to our needs and when the potatoes we ordered were not to our liking, she let the Manager Carlos know and he arranged to have them prepared just the way we wanted them and served them to us personally! It s those kinds of seemingly small acts that make a HUGE difference! We re definitely making this place a regular eating establishment! Nice job Black Bear!!

We stayed at the Good Nite Inn Buena Park, and had breakfast twice at the Black Bear Diner across the street. On both occasions we had the full breakfast, ie The Grizz, with three eggs, bacon, sausage links, ham, potatoes and two pancakes to booth. It was well made, tasted excellent, and was just a really good way to start the day. Very friendly staff, good coffee... We will come back! Thanks a lot to excellent, funny waitress Michelle and her nice boss whose name I cant recall, unfortunately.

Black Bear Diner was so accommodating to our large group (BPHS Class of 1974 s 50th Reunion) on Sunday, 9/29. Food was delicious, served hot and the coffee & water were ever-flowing. Thank you, Christina, for the outstanding service. I sent back the chicken sausage (nothing wrong with it just not to my taste). Christina cheerfully exchanged it for an order of bacon. I used to come here all the time back in the day and loved it. I moved back about a year ago and have come here twice. As soon as I walked in I could tell the standard of food, service and cleanliness has gone way down. The servers used to be so friendly and the manager would always come around to ask how things were. The last time I went the manager attended us but didn t even smile or say good morning. Honestly he looked disgruntled lol. There were several flies in the dining area, and the bathroom was a joke and they had just opened. We waited 15 minutes and no one ever showed up at the table to take our order. Not sure how that happens but won t be coming back.

Got up to find out server and found another server...the server ignored us and walked away because we werent her table. Wont go back

Cozy dinner with a very extensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Really a lot of choice. Nice waitresses and very helpful and no long waiting times before being served. Highly recommended. Parking: More than enough parking. Kid-friendliness: Fun for the kids with bears everywhere on the chairs and ceiling and a nice shop with bear goodies. Wheelchair accessibility: Quite an entrance gate for if you are in a wheelchair.

Excellent food! We loved it so much when we went for dinner that we returned for breakfast the next morning. Parking: They are located on a corner from which you can not turn left to enter. You have to go down the street to make a Uturn.

Love eating at black bear! Go to eating spot for bear theme, big portions and great service. Lover our waitress today Vanessa R! You need to try the chicken avocado club and dip it in the bacon ranch! Bacon ranch is to die for!!! Classic Americana diner feel with bears. Expect to spend $35 for 2 people. This place is our go to because of our kids loving the Mac n Cheese and their Famous Chicken Fried Steak. Vanessa does an awesome job as our server and always checking in. Hands down this time around the service was great. Thank you Vanessa, you re doing a great job! We will back again.

Casual, Comfortable Diner with great food and atmosphere. I highly recommend the Volcano. Best pancakes ever!!! Kid-friendliness: If your children are well behaved this could be a nice place for a family meal. If not, leave them with a sitter - this is an open area seating in the large dining room and nice booths in the coffee shop side. Be courteous.

Right from the get-go they have what you can see plastered all over the walls are bears, I really loved it, it was fun and if you want to bring your kids they will really enjoy it. One of the things is the food. The food is really good they have a lot of it. You can choose from a very simple breakfast, all the way to a very big breakfast full of eggs sausage, pancakes, bacon, potatoes and much more. Its family friendly and very nice. The one thing that this particular restaurant has is Vanessa! I have gone and visited several restaurants in my life and I got to tell Vanessa ranks up on top close to#1 . Vanessa got our order, brought it out fast and took care of us so well. Always with a smile, kindness and nicely. She made us feel really good. Next time Im back in this area. My wife and I will be looking and coming back and have the pleasure of being taken care off by Vanessa. Thank you so very much!! Who let the bears out? My favorite location of all the Black Bears that I have been to. Food is so good and the service is top notch. Debra was our waitress and she really cares for her customers. We had her a few times and she always checks on us and talks with my kiddos. She is one of the reasons why we keep coming back.

We have been to Black Bear Diner several times and love it. Yummy food decent prices and the kids love the atmosphere. Definitely recommend! Kid-friendliness: The kids menu prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. All three of my picky eaters found something to eat.

I have eaten at several Black Bear Diners in multiple states. Christina at the Buena Park CA location is one of the most wonderful waitress I have had in a long time. Food was hot and fresh, my coffee cup was NEVER empty. It was nice to see a wonderful smiling face when I travel. Keep up the great work to Christina and the entire team!
