Portillo's Buena Park

I tried Portillo’s for the very first time with two high school friends! Brian the manager took my order and he recommended the Italian beef sandwich with gravy on the side. Boy, am I glad I took his advice! The sandwich was delicious and the gravy was so flavorful. The cheese sauce is great as well. Shoutout to Brian for the free meal and the cute sticker! I definitely will return to Portillo’s the next time I’m in the area.

I’m a true Chicagoan and this absolutely taste just as good as the Italian beefs back home. I drove 36 miles to get to this location and luckily there was no one in the drive through. Got my order quick and it was nice, hot and fresh. Made me miss home a bit! Will absolutely be taking that drive again! Italian beef E-Z dipped with hot peppers and cheese sauce with a med fry!

We loved eating Portillos while out in Chicago, so we just had to drive out to Buena Park to get our fix. We ordered the sausage and beef sandwich with hot peppers and dipped with gravy, side of cheese sauce, Chicago style and chili cheese hot dogs, fries, and a naked dog for our toddler. Everything was delicious! I wish I had room for a slice of chocolate cake or a cake shake because that is a whole experience on its own. The manager was kind to us and our babies and even gave our toddler a hat and stickers which entertained him while we waited for our food to arrive. Definitely coming back for the food, service, and atmosphere until we're able to go back to Chicago. :)

Long time eater, first time review. I LOVE Portillo’s with a passion. The Italian beef, dipped, sweet AND spicy peppers with extra gravy on the side, is one of the greatest sandwiches of all time. The bread is always perfection with the crunch exterior and soft interior that just soaks up all the beef juice. The onion rings are some of the greatest of all time. The hotdogs are also incredible - the classic Chicago Dog and the Maxwell Street Polish are my favorites. I have also had the chicken sandwiches and they are surprisingly good. And the service is always super friendly and I love the rhymes they do when the servers call out your order, they are so fun. Portillo’s is a magical institution and I am so happy I don’t have to fly to Chicago to get it.

I’m sorry, but I think the food here is just average. I got the Italian Beef Sandwich, cheese burger and fries. The food was just luke warm and not hot when it was served.

I’ve definitely had better at other hamburger joints. Total was $24.43 total not including a drink.

Get the regular with spicy peppers. The large has a sausage included and not the same.

Side of fries with cheese sauce is tasty! Cold beer served in iced cold frosty glasses. Alcohol line is separate so order your non alcoholic beverages with your meal.

Their chopped salad is delicious too!

We prefer the patio dining but the have indoor seating AND a drive thru option.

We come here at least once a year.

This place is worth the wait if there is a line. Love their chocolate cake. They have a great side salad and you can add chicken on it $8.99 total, what a deal! I love their chili cheese dogs, they come with onions. Yum! Typing this review is making me want to eat there!

Portillo's Chicago Dog vs. my diet. And let me tell you, Portillo's won hands down! This behemoth of a hot dog, smothered in a glorious mess of pickles, tomatoes, relish, onions, and mustard, all on a poppy seed bun, was love at first bite. It's like a taste sensation that says,
'You know what, calories? We're taking a road trip to Chicago, and we're not apologizing for it!' And don't even get me started on the vanilla shake - it's like a party in your mouth, complete with a conga line of creamy goodness. So, if you're looking for a hot dog that's the opposite of a Costco quickie (no shade, Costco, we still love your $1.50 dogs), Portillo's is the way to go.

Its fricken Portillos and its here in California!!! If you want a Chicago dog or an Italian beef sandwich, you cant go wrong here! They know what theyre doing here and Ive never had a problem for all the times Ive visited. Chicago dog 10/10 Italian beef 10/10 Cheese fries 10/10 Chocolate cake shake 10/10 Location is convenient. Its close to Knotts Berry Farm, lots of parking, they have a drive thru (card only), and lots of indoor seating. This location has been under construction for a while. Something new is that they have an electronic kiosk to order food, as well as cashiers. Staff is always friendly and really good at getting my order down. I live in Los Angeles, so I need a lot of items separated to not get soggy food and they nail the packaging! Extra dip is in cups that havent spilled in the times Ive ordered and theyre wrapped in plastic bags in case. Bags have nice weight distribution, so you dont have to worry about your food flying or tipping while youre driving. This location is just a cool vibe. The location has a lot of decoration to look at. People always seems chill, talking, having a good time. Like I said, if you want some Chicago style food, this location nails it! Parking: Lots of parking. Its in a shopping complex.

Portillos has been a great comfort food spot in Buena Park for years and a local favorite. Im a fan of many menu items, from the burgers and sandwiches to the hot dogs. I mainly order through the drive-thru, but dining in occasionally is a treat with a relaxed, nostalgic vibe, fun decor, and clean space. There are indoor and covered patio seating areas. A few of my recent food orders were delicious and comforting: the Famous Italian Beef Sandwich, Double Cheeseburger, Chili Cheese Hot Dog, and Fish Sandwich. Dont forget the classic fries and onion rings. I only ordered a few sweets over the years, but from what family and friends remind me, the shakes, malts, and desserts are great sweet-tooth options. Cashless Drive-thru only. If you are paying with cash, youll have to order inside. There is plenty of parking in the lot shared with Walmart. Ive had good service for many years, and the food is on point. The staff is usually kind and prepares orders with care and speed.

If you have had this in Chicago, well its just like it. The atmosphere is pretty similar. Sitting outside is great if you have a dog but the table are kinda mixed and with all kinds of mus matching chairs. But overall I will continue to come back here and bring friends until I can get back the Chicago.

Always love this place. Im not even a hot dog or Philly Cheese steak person but the customer service is great, the salads are good, the atmosphere is nice, other customers there are always nice. Their drive through is smart because they have two windows and sometimes if you are at the first window and your food is ready they will hand it off and you can actually go around the person ahead of you if their food is slower coming out. Its very affordable for being close to Knotts and other hip restaurants off of Beach BLVD. Since the mall is mostly dead it stands out as the better food option over boring corporate choices like Olive Garden and Chilis.

We Live in pretty close to Portillos. Have Frequented it many times. The Italian beef Sandwich is My favorite. Others go for the good Chicken Noodle soup. I try to switch it up, and try something different every time we go there. The Salads are really good, with a pretty good variety to choose from. Not much of a Hot Dog fan, but we noticed they have a nice snap when you bite into them. That is a sign of a good Hot dog in my opinion. They are always crowed, but mid afternoon is best to beat some of the crowds.

Buena Park store have the non common sense staff and the manager. First, the did not include the one I ordered. So beware! When I called the store, A white woman told me to give her the order number with 4 digits only but there was noting on the receipt that have only 4 digits. She is very rude.Then i spoke with manager and said that i did not pay for the disputed items on their receipt. But my receipt doesnt lie. My receipt clearly showed that I paid for those items. Beware when you order online. Check your orders first before you leave the store and make sure to keep your receipt.

We came in today at 1030am. There were only a few cars in the parking lot and felt uneasy. We walked in and there were a couple of customers already eating. We walked up to order and the cashier (Amy) was the best. She explained the items we were interested in and gave us great advice on how to order it. The food came out and everything was hot. The Italian beef sandwich was delicious. Remember to get the gravy and sweet bell peppers. The Chicago dogs were on point. The dogs had a good snap and the buns were steamed to perfection. We got the #1 and #2. Youll figure it out when you get here. Come here before you hit Knotts. Youll save a ton eating if you do.

I spend a lot of time in Chicagoland, and every time I go, I stop at a Portillos. We were in California and saw that they had a Portillos. We had to go. One of my go-tos is the Chopped Salad. Also the cheese fries are good. The Italian beef is always good. The hot dogs are good. Ive never had anything bad there. Save room for the chocolate cake too.

Buena pArk location is always busy, we prefer to go before noon. The beef and sausage is so good I havent tried anything else! I prefer with sweet peppers and regular gravy. If you like your bread with a bit more crunch, or getting to go/delivery, get the gravy on the side and consider trying with cheese sauce. Crinkle cut fries are great too. If you like spicy, enjoy with hot peppers.

I was there my first time a month ago I ate a Greek salad. I asked the manager later if it come with chicken because mine didnt have any. Food was good. The woman who took our order seemed like she was in a rush and came off as rude. Not to mention there was no one was behind us for her to be rushing. When we walked up to the counter she didnt greet us and only said she could take our order. We ordered hot dogs and she didnt even offer the jumbo hotdog. When we went back to buy dessert my friend wanted to ask this same girl a question. She brushed her off saying she was closed and the other lady would help her. The group of friends I was with was not happy about the service and not sure we would be back. We came from Glendora and it took us an hour with traffic to get there and we left disappointed.

I ordered 3 hot dogs 3 large fries and a cobb salad from drive through yesterday, but only had one large fries in the bag when I checked at home. In this case normally they made the wrong order and charge for one order, but they charged for 3 and gave me only one! I called the store and manager told me sorry can you come back and pick it up? You guys ruined my dinner! And my refund never came in yet!

First time getting a beef and cheddar croissant. Will skip that next time and go back to the beef dip. The croissant was pretty soggy and the cheddar was almost non-existent. The bread is always perfection with the crunch exterior and soft interior that just soaks up all the beef juice. The onion rings are some of the greatest of all time. The hotdogs are also incredible - the classic Chicago Dog and the Maxwell Street Polish are my favorites. I have also had the chicken sandwiches and they are surprisingly good. And the service is always super friendly and I love the rhymes they do when the servers call out your order, they are so fun. Portillo s is a magical institution and I am so happy I don t have to fly to Chicago to get it. Kid-friendliness: There are so many cool decorations kids love to look at.

I came from New Mexico and the girl at front was disrespectful, the food was not worth the price in anyway and the mangers were no good as well! I will never return or will not recommend to anyone.

Portillos is awesome. The Big Beef with hot and sweet peppers is legit. Their Chicago style hot dogs are phenomenal as well.

This is THE place to go for a Chicago hot dog or Italian beef sandwich in SoCal. The strawberry shortcake is really great too. Save your receipt, take the survey, get FREE large fries on next visit. The staff are all very easy to work with too. Parking: Big free lot. Wheelchair accessibility: A ramp & double doors to enter/exit.
