Story Tavern

I will be reviewing based only on the restaurant portion of the location. The menu looks decent enough, mostly comfort food. No complaints about the decor because it honestly didn't look bad. Got our entrées in 15 minutes and our food in 30 minutes. I got the Mac Attack Burger with chips after hearing a table next to me praise it. It was dreadful. The burger itself dry and flavorless, the mac and cheese in it also lacks flavor. The cheese tasted non-existent and the bun was the only flavor the burger had. I tried the pulled pork on mac and cheese next, not any better. It tasted stale and bland. The only flavor I had here is the Pretzel appetizers which was honestly good, if not a bit too salty for me. To top it off all the servers had regular clothes, nothing to distinguish them from the customers, so I couldn't flag one down for any service. The biggest sin is the price, $17 for a hand sized flavorless burger and stale pulled pork for $16? Sidenote: they use plastic cups for their beer, which I have never seen at a restaurant.

Excellent burgers and sandwiches and a great section of beers. They handmade their margarita mix, too! The large game room has a darts, ping pong and shuffleboard (but let's keep that our secret).

Came here for lunch.

Staff is very friendly and attentive.
Good bar food and the menu has many options.
They have a good beer selection.

I like the TVs. Watched a world cup game there.
Tried their sloppy Joe’s and it was really good.

Nice beer choices and decent wine options. The Mushroom Swiss burger was tasty. The manager behind the bar was great - very attentive. Some of the other staff should interact more with the customers and spend a bit less time entertaining each other.

My only complaint is that the atmosphere is too open big open shared tables instead of couches or booths. And the beer was pricey. But the IRISH TACOS are FIRE!!!!! And our server was very friendly she made great recommendations. Dietary restrictions: GF friendly!

Amazing food, and great employees! I loved the wall with all the nice/wholesome artwork and cultural references. I really loved the bar to the left of the restaurant, with all the fun activities you can do. Im not sure if that bar business is affiliated with them, but it had a ping-pong table, darts, and table shuffleboard. Thank you for the amazing night!

Parking: Dont park on San Fernando if you plan on being there for a while. Try a side street, or, if youre okay with a small walk, park in one of the garages closer to the AMC theater/mall. The parking there is free after 6pm, and its not too bad of a walk down San Fernan. Honestly, really pretty with the Christmas lights up Food

Place is O.K. at best. Food is good but the menu is very limited. They used to have this amazing menu back then, now it is just burgers, some sandwiches and mac & cheese. Atmosphere, service and the live music during thursday is what makes this place a good hang out spot. Best to come here when you are not really hungry or in between meals. Hopefully they expand their menu to include actual food.

Good food and good company. We tried the cider, yum. We tried the tatot tots appetizer, hit the right spot with cheese, bacon, and sour cream. And the main course was the fried chicken sandwich made with a house special batter that was crispy and full of flavor. Drool worthy!! Ate faster than we could take pics!

Story Tavern is so fun! Ive had food there before, and it was really good. But, this time, a friend and I just got drinks, and first played Foosball, then ping pong. Then, for a little while, we sat outside on the patio, underneath the heater, while I finished my drink.

Ive been here a few times and always had fun, whether it was a network event, weekday lunch, or after-work drinks and games. My coworkers and I came here to play Magic: The Gathering, draw, and enjoy some good food and drink. We were able to find a table and the bartender/server was really friendly. Service was prompt and the food was great! (Definitely get the pretzel.) I dont drink anymore, but I remember them having a good selection of beer and cider when I did. I havent been to their game room area, but it looks like a solid setup from the outside. (And I believe its open later, on Wednesdays at least.) Im also a writer so I just love the name...

We had a reserved area outside for my cousins birthday. It was nice, clean, and staff was helpful. However, I really didnt like seeing a huge shelved area with a sink and jars and jars of dog food right next to our tables. Pretty gross and unsettleling while trying to consume our food knowing that they openly feed dogs where we were eating.

The food here was not very good. They messed up almost everyone s order at our table. Then they forgot two whole orders and took a lot of extra time to make it. One got her burger and the other was informed that the kitchen was not going to make the burger. How does that bode well? Is there no management here?

Ive only been here a couple of times, but I was here recently for a friends birthday. She loves this place for the gluten-free food options. We went in on the night of an important football game (we shouldve known better) and the bar was only catering to the football fans. The server told us we had to go outside if we wanted to eat. We then waited 15 minutes for him, but had to go get him from inside just to order. The guy at the table across from us was wasted and couldnt stand straight but they were still serving him alcohol. After the game ended, the blasted incredibly loud music so no one could hear each other speak. Maybe it was an off night, but I was not impressed.

Not many choices for drinks but the bartender can make drinks you want to mix. Nice ambiance and there are a few games to choose from but all in all, its a very good choice for a place

Great place to hang out with friends. They have different mules for 6$. This establishment has darts, fooseball and ping pong. The tables are a little uneven but playable.

This was a surprise. My gf has Celiac. They have excellent awareness of gluten allergies. I heard the Owner is Gluten Free. The food is absolutely amazing. Celiac Friendly. The staff is always helpful and considerate.

Drinks were fine. Food was gross My friend and I ordered chicken sandwiches and the chicken was rubbery and slimy with no flavor. Also a very confused vibe with atmosphere. They had Octoberfest decorations up in July, and they host a good live jazz band outside, but inside its got a sports bar vibe. Service was very slow.

Lemme tell you about a story that involves the Story Tavern. The mixed drinks and everything on tap here is superb! The end. Service is great. Food selection is interesting and varied. Everything I had was very tasty. But if you can, get some drinks from the bar. They are most excellent.

first time visiting and I think they are still trying to reconstruct the kitchen post covid (this review is for early may 2021) friendly service, but slow and they were out of all the Russian River brewery options. the food, when it finally showed up was delicious and they were apologetic about it taking a while. highly recommend the totchos.

This is our Friday night date night spot. Its a bright spot at the end of a long work week. The wait staff are very friendly and welcoming. And the Mac and cheese is absolutely amazing!! We love the outdoor experience and have not had a single bad experience.

Came in the other night with some girlfriends after Gordon Biersch was too busy. Duncan Made me the best Martini ive ever had in my life and hes really cute. We all split the sausage platter followed by the house cider, which is delicious. Will be coming Back.

This place is great! Great beer selection and awesome service. One of the friends I went with kept repeating how awesome our server was. I had the mac attack, which is delicious but definitely a once in a while meal. Mac n cheese on a burger with bacon. I might recommend taking the bacon off but thats just personal preference. Would definitely recommend.

Down right awful service, Ive never had my food served cold, and the lady, had the audacity to hint for tips, and trust me this isnt a story, i know what tips means it means to insure proper service, and proper service wasnt here, next time Ill go to chipotles instead. At least their beer isnt warm,

For a place that is connected, drinks were inconsistent. Homemade veggie patty tasted kinda moldy and sad. Add some spice! The bar side has darts, hockey and ping-pong. Cant be too mad about that.

Disappointing, Wednesday night and the only thing open was the restaurant. The gaming area was closed for a private party with a small amount in attendance. I was there for the atmosphere and games of which none were available. Would like to go back and give it a go again but the response from the staff was a real turn off.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon with my daughter. Other than the bartender and server, it was just us. No other patrons. We were able to say anywhere, since it was nice day I opted to sit outside. Ordered from the $12 Food and drink menu. Ordered the Pork Street Tacos and a beer. After ordering I noticed that the bench and floor were covered in long white dog hair. Service was quick. Got my beer and water right away then came the tacos shortly after. Warmish pulled pork,room temp tortillas with packaged shredded cheese. The Pico de Gallo was bland and not spicy at all. Best part was the beer. That was cold and tasty. Overall , definitely not impressed, especially for the price. Food didnt seem fresh, just warmed up and served. Eating area was dirty and not kept. Server was nice and adequate considering no one else was there.

If you have a gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, this place is for you. They have a nice selection of GF ciders to choose from the owner has celiac disease and wanted a bar that could cater to every crowd. They recently brought back their tater tots which are a must have and also fried separately so those with a gluten allergy can par take. Their chili is great. Their burgers are great. Their mac and cheese is pretty awesome but way too small of a portion for the price. They also have a wide variety of board and bar games to play while you eat. Great for the family or a night out with friends. The bar tenders are also very nice, fun, and caring as well.

One of the best places in downtown Burbank for a drink and some relaxing games with friends. The drink selection has some pretty good offerings on it,and the all the time drink and bar food deal is a really good one.

This was my first time coming here, and Ive heard nothing but good things, however I feel today mightve been an off-day for them. There were two big issues that stood out to me. First, while we were waiting for our food, the waiter was yelling at the large party next to us because some people wanted to wait on ordering and he was being very loud and kinda harsh about not wanting to have to run back to the kitchen every 20 minutes for their food. The other incident was when I ordered. I ordered something straight off of the menu with no substitutions. When the server brought the food out, he was mentioning how he brought a version without one of the items on it. I told him I ordered the version straight off of the menu with no substitutions and he took it back. Meanwhile, the rest of the party was eating, and I was waiting for my food. He finally came back and gave me the food saying he confirmed with the waiter thats what I ordered and that I requested said item removed from the food. He was a little aggressive about it and seemed very annoyed. Anyways, no big deal. I agreed to eat it because Ive worked in customer service before. I took a bite and immediately had the item the server said was not on it in my mouth. Basically, there was no communication between the server and the waiter and it caused a lot of confusion between everyone and it seemed the waiters and servers tensions were high throughout all of this despite the restaurant being near empty. It was no big deal, and I understand having an off day, however yelling at customers, not checking the food when you bring it to a table, and telling a guest that they are incorrect about what they ordered is pretty rude, especially when your restaurant isnt having a rush. Anyways, Im a little bummed this was my experience here because it seemed like such a cool place. I hope they adjust what they need to.

The drinks are well priced and they have a good selection of beers. No room to stand. Didnt really like the seating. Long tables made it hard to converse with people on the other side. The management refused to let us stand in the aisles. The waitresses were super polite but I thought some of the management and bartenders were rude. Overall, okay but not a recommend.
