Award-winning Romancing The Bean Café offers an array of fresh, hearty, organic salads, hot and cold-pressed sandwiches, delicious fresh pastries, homemade scones, pies, cakes and a full juice and espresso bar. It’s the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon snack.
Located in the charming neighborhood of Magnolia Park, near plenty of great shops and just steps away from the studios, owner/Chef Kerry Krull sources the freshest local and organic ingredients to create her delicious menu.
Sooo sad that this beautiful cafe has apparently lost its moxie. For years it’s been my favorite go to spot on Saturdays for lunch or snacks and meetings but in the last several months everything has seemed to begin to decline.
Things are thrown together now, announcements slapped on windows using painters tape, tea menu with like 10-12 items now only offers like 3 teas tops. How does the laminated stand reflects those changes? Old stickers that say not available on some with others names scribbled out with a black marker :/ just no attention or care for detail, nothing like how this beautiful place used to function.
They operate like they are already closed an hour before their crumpled winter hours sign slapped on the door reflects. The “open” sign never turned on.
Menu items are also rarely available due to lack of supplies too.
They definitely don’t seem to care anymore unfortunately and it seems maybe they’re moving towards closing down? Heartbreaking because its been such a great spot for so long.. :(
The prices used to be warranted but now is overpriced for what you get and often can’t get.

I only popped in for a moment but the experience was great! Barista was super nice, offered to help me and even remembered my name after ordering which I found was a super sweet gesture. Most of the drinks are all reasonably priced and cheaper than Starbucks, plus I really enjoyed the shake I bought. Would totally come again!

Since moving to Burbank in May my wife and I have made Romancing the Bean a favorite spot for brunch with friends and family. It's walking distance which adds to it's attractiveness but the atmosphere, food and service are just the best! We also frequent The New Deal but that's for a different review. I shot some photos while waiting for my mocha and their baked goods are amazing. What a great find. Photos by Marty Morris @mpm_photo

Really lovely little cafe. Stumbled on it completely at random. The pastry selection is amazing and I think they’re all made in house. Really unique selection. One of the best scones I’ve had just about anywhere and the coffee was great, too. Really friendly employees and lots of seating.

For a lunch date, the food is phenomenal. The only thing keeping me from rating this 5 stars is pricing. For what my partner and I ordered the total with tip was around $60 with (non-alcoholic) drinks. I wouldnt expect to spend that much casually on a lunch. Atmosphere has sort of an urban chic kinda thing going on.

Can't say enough positive things about "Romancing The Bean".
Today was my first time to "Romancing the Bean", but it certainly won't be my last. The sublime decor 1st captured my attention, but I found myself as equally delighted by the service & the food: so great to have healthy, delicious beautiful choices

The customer service here is beyond horrible. I understand the pressures of rush business hours, but it doesn't excuse rude behavior. We tried twice, and both times, we got short tempered answers. Got our order wrong, burned the bagels so we won't be coming back.

It does not matter how many times I ask for my latte in a mug, "for here" - they'll still put it in a disposable cup. It matters a lot to me and it makes me angry every time. I'm not going there anymore.

Meh. Usually get coffee here. Their cappuccinos are weak. The service always feels like they are doing me a favor by ringing me up. The food on display is not very appealing.

If you want a $14 cold turkey sandwich on dry sourdough that you’d expect in your 7th grade school lunch then this is the spot! I’d recommend spending the extra $1.50 and go to Wax Paper in frog town and get a turkey sandwich on fresh baked ciabatta bread with lots of turkey and a lime wedge.

The drinks are really good and have a great variety. The pastries are super yum and also a lot of variety. My favorite is the blueberry scone. I normally don't even like scones lol. Only thing is I really don't care for the like, kitchen food. It takes too long to come out, is crazy expensive, and isn't very good in the first place. The breakfast burrito is concerning. That said, the ambience is also really nice. It's a comfortable place to have a pick-me-up or meet a friend or do some laptop work for a couple hours.

This a solid place to go for socializing and/or studying. Comfortable seating and the food is very good. It does get loud and crowded on the weekends, a testament to their quality, which does make studying a bit more difficult.
There’s just one complaint and it really annoyed me. They ask for tips. This, in and of itself, is not a problem. It never hurts to ask. However, the only thing they bring to you is your hot food. Drinks and pastries, you’re up and grabbing from them yourself and they bring your food on nice, but heavy plates and then, this is what pushed me over the edge, they want you to bus your own table. I’m carrying heavy plates and a glass mug to the bus bin and leaving a trail of silverware along the way while paying a 20% tip.
I have no problem tipping for great service. I also have no problems cleaning up after myself. I have a problem doing both.
Don’t tip this place until they start bussing tables at a minimum.

Note: not a place to take your laptop and work on the weekends, and I respect that. Go to Starbucks if you want to hog a table all day. It’s nice that they’re reserving their tables for people to have lunch dates or just enjoy their food

First impression: big. Big selection (food and drinks), big space (open, airy, and outdoor settings), and big prices. Good when you wanna break away from the norm or catch up with friends.

Okay the staff was nice this is not their fault but my matcha latte barely tasted like matcha was so weak. And the avocado toast is literally just avocado and a couple chile flakes, no flavor. These two items came to $23 what a racket.

I went here with my my niece and my dad. Any place I go with him deserves five stars whether or not it's enjoyable, whether or not it's clean, whether or not it's good. Although I can tell you this stay away from the raw chocolate smoothie. It's very gritty. But I can tell you this I love the atmosphere of the place I will be going back and trying other items on the menu.

Came for the name, stayed for the pumpkin lattes. That's right, pumpkin LATTES in the plural form. I realize pumpkin drinks are divisive, but the fall drink fans like me, this place will warm your little autumnal heart. They had an entire list of fall drink specials, from pumpkin marshmallow to maple. I tried the pumpkin pie latte and it was absolutely fantastic - rich, creamy, comforting, and not overly sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more!
Be forewarned they did have wifi rules which I found a little odd, so don't come here and use a laptop in the morning between 11am-2pm because apparently it's not allowed? Kind of a weird and unwelcoming vibe with signs posted everywhere about who's allowed to use the wifi, when a laptop can or cannot be used, and how long you're allowed to sit at a table. However, the menu makes up for it. I'll definitely be back to try more because my latte was phenomenal! I'll probably stick to takeout though because it doesn't seem like they want people hanging around.

I Had not been to Romancing the Bean since prior to the Pandemic but it was just as great as I remembered it and have been twice in two weeks with my wife and baby daughter. The restaurant was not jam paxked with people and the people that were in there keot their distance and were respectful of space and masks etc.
Going later in the day there was a smaller selection of pastries but still plenty to choose from. The croissant, almond croissant, sweet pull apart croissant, strawberry pop tart, and the orange cranberry muffin were all great choices in our two trips.
The organic Cold Brew coffee and the Coffee Ice Cubes are the main reason we first came back to this place. We love the coffee ice cubes because your coffee never gets watered down!
This past time we also got turkey sandwiches on ciabata bread with a cilantro Mayo and they were excellent. I added onion tomatoes and avocado to mine and it made it even better. Extra layers of flavor and crunch. Will definitely be getting this again very soon.
And maybe purchasing a shirt or two.

I ordered avocado toast. The avocado spread had no flavor. A bit of salt, garlic and perhaps a touch of lime would have livened it up. Plus red pepper flakes were not advertised. Gross. The bread is WAY too thick to be a good, crisp toast.
